Butta Burger Restaurant Quartermile Edinburgh in Edinburgh, City of

Having sampled many a burger in and around Edinburgh , Butta Burger was the latest place I discovered.. Put simply, it's a delicious, well cooked burger. Very satisfying.. I ordered crispy chicken strips as a starter with were great. For mains I opted for a with onion mayo and crispy onions on top. Again it was pretty great. I don't have any real complaints here to be honest. As far as a burger place goes its definitely worth checking out Staff were friendly. The interior was clean and spacious. Would recommend it, and I'll be heading back for another visit as soon as possible.

Definitely rate butta burger very highly. Even though it's a chain restaurant it's super high quality and very tasty. Is it the best burger In Edinburgh? Possibly. Not tried everywhere yet. It's definitely the best I've tried so far though. Everything tastes fresh and is packed full of flavour. Large portion of chips could probably feed 3 people. Both the quarter mile and george street venues are great and would highly recommend giving them a try.

Quarter Mile - Lovely food - took quite a while but not surprised as 3 waiting staff working flat out as very busy. They were great and remained cheery helpful and attentive. The Chicken Fried Gordal Olives were amazing and the burger excellent. Spartan furnishings inside and out but a nice quiet area to enjoy a meal.

Very nice staff so that's why I give 3 stars. I had bacon burger with an extra patty. First of all it is not a smash burger!! Smash burger should be 6-8mm thick and nicely browned up. Those 2 that I got where 12-15mm thick with barely any browning on the bottom and rather rubbery. It seems that people who say that these are best smash burgers have no idea what a smash burger really is. Message to restaurant: If you want to know how smash burger should really look like and how it should taste since you advertise yourself as a smash burgers place look up guga smash burger on utube. Than start producing a real smash burgers!

Pretty standard food. The fries were good! Quite expensive for what we got. Service coulda been better. Our water glass had a large lipstick stain on it too. When we raised it we were told the service charge was removed from the receipt. We woulda removed this anyway so money off something else woulda been nice! Wouldn’t rush back.

My first experience at butta burger was absolutely amazing! The burgers were 10/10 and our waitress Anna was so helpful and attentive. Will definitely be back

Rebecca and the team were absolutely fab. Super friendly and helpful. Really accommodating with us having a puppy with us, and very much appreciated the water and chicken for him. The food was exceptionally good and will 100% be back

Burgers sound nice on paper but are tasteless, oily and below average. Fries undercooked and staff look like they would rather work at McDonalds.

Good burger with own dips. Nice service. A good choice to eat away from the tourist crowds.

Don't really want to share, as it's a bit of a hidden gem, if you don't know where it is you'll not find it. Great food, great staff, all round good visit

Food was ok, burger was abit raw. Service was appalling, waitress too busy flirting with the just eat drivers instead of getting our bill

It was ok and solid, but not exceptional

So assumed the burgers were the star of the show but tbh, enjoyed the chicken pieces the best. Beef patties seemed too compact and dry but chippies, shakes were great. Also nice touch with supplying chicken salt👌🏼Wee bit quiet when we were there and not much atmosphere but was a rainy, chilly January Monday!!!

Nice food but they dont take cash

My favourite spot when i come to Edinburgh, i visit my friend now and then and have to come here at least twice! Well i went everyday last time i came for 4 days. The burgers are amazing, tender, and pretty big. The last burger i order, i had the chose of adding a Wagyu patty for 2.50. I had to take it and did not regret having a chicken burger with a wagyu patty added. Have a look at the video attached and tell me it does not look good. Combine the burger with house lemonade and truffle fries or togarashi fires.

Quality of ingredients let the experience down. It was essentially an expensive McDonalds. The service of the staff was faultless. 5* for them.

It would be the best chicken burger if they cooked the chicken more because there were some blood in it.

The food was plentiful and tasty but served by staff more interested in their mobile phones and chatting to eachother than serving the customers.

Family night out ruined - our usual family favourite is butta burger on George street but as they were too busy we were recommended to visit Lister square - this visit was truly appalling, terribly atmosphere & freezing cold restaurant & service was very poor. Taste of food was great but we waited 35minutes for our drinks to come & further 20minutes for food to come Butta burger at George street is outstanding but service at lister square is awful

Food was incredible and staff even better staying in Edinburgh for another week and will be here OFTEN

The burger was absolutely disgusting. It was fried twice I believe as the batter was BLACK in colour and extremely tough, I could not even chew it. The chicken inside was the same, inedible. I was so disgusted that I did not even ask for a refund. It was so disgusting I just had to leave. What kind of chef would ever think it is okay to serve such horrible looking food?

Burger was very delicious and impressed cheap drink. Especially burger patties are delicious. However, chips are bit overcooked-very dried and crispy.

The food was nice, but I would say overpriced, the burger was good but the chips weren't great. Sadly the restaurant was completely empty and none of the beer pumps were working. The service was slow with the staff chatting to the deliveroo drivers. When my wife arrived, told only be able to sit at a single table despite only 2 other customers in the whole place. Then after we ordered told we could move if we wanted too. For two burgers, parmesan chips and 2 cokes came to £40, with a tip already included on the bill. Just felt overly expensive for a very quiet, quite cold experience.

Wow, amazing burger! My boyfriend usually likes his burgers well-done (like at Five Guys), while I like mine medium rare. Although we don’t get to choose how cooked our burgers are here (so presumably well-done), they still came out very nice—juicy and tender and not dry at all. I also love the wide variety of choices they have and, as a sauce-lover, greatly appreciate their wide selection of sauces for their fries/chips A criticism would be that they’ve laid out their festive season menu already, even though it’s still not available yet, which was very confusing.

Long waiting time for food, high prices, burnt chicken, burger literally just fried chicken, sauce, and buns. At least service was good! Overall though, I'd say avoid.

Dog friendly, gluten-free burgers that taste great. Unfortunately, the kitchen is not gluten-free, so it depends on your tolerance levels. Large portions of fries and brisk, friendly service. We've had many a good lunch here after walking the dogs in the Meadows. It is disabled accessible and disabled parking nearby.

Really great Service and meatless Options.

As always the food and service was spot on.

The restaurant cancelled our booking 13 minutes before the scheduled time because more people arrived for another reservation. The restaurant offered us an alternative time or a table at another branch located "just 1.3 miles" away. We were very disappointed since it was not fair to not honour our booking in favor of another.

The burgers themselves are tasty, especially the patties which are wagyu and hence explain the price. However, they are served as if this were just any other fast food restaurant, on cheap plates, without even any lettuce or tomato. Servers were kind.

Very yummy meal! Had some chips (1 large portion feeds 2, they are big!) And 1 small portion of the large wings (honey and soy) that was a lot, but they were delicious!

The burgers and the service are great, we enjoyed the dinner really much. It is important to consider that some of the products are really spicy and this is not so well indicated in the menu, so be careful with this.

Pros: Relaxed atmosphere and not too busy given the proximity to the bustle of the fringe festivities. Cons: Expensive for what it is. Server not very engaging and a bit awkward.

THERE ARE 6 SHARP SCREWS STICKING OUT OF EACH OF THE TWO CUBICLES IN THEIR TOILETS. PHOTOS ATTACHED. They chose to drill sanitary equipment into the walls of the toilet cubicles without caring about leaving sharp screws sticking out the other side of the cubicle walls. I have a large red scratch on my back from their hazardous facilities. Luckily blood did not seep through my shirt.

For just simple burgers & chicken wings, we waited almost half an hour in an almost empty restaurant. The honey miso glazed wings full of sticky sauce & a lot salt, one almost can’t taste the chicken. The beef burger is not tasty too. The fried chicken burger is the only food ok. The loo located on 1st floor, but 1st floor is very smoky. What’s wrong of the ventilation fan ?

I had this waitress who I was told was called Amy. She was really considerate with me as I have a stutter and struggle to eat out because of my confidence. She was patient and so kind to me and my wife. I tried to tip her before I left but she was too humble and said it was her pleasure to serve me at the restaurant. I will definitely be coming back in the near future and I'll bring my daughter and grandkids.

Nice venue in the heart of quartermile, but it feels a little soulless. Service was reasonable but very slow even on a quiet Thursday night. Waited a good 30 minutes for the food when there were few tables in and only a couple of deliveroo guys in to collect. Chicken burger was a bit over cooked and dry, but the fries and the chicken Kiev strips were good. The black garlic mayo did wipe out all the other flavours on the plate though. Good value but not sure we’ll rush back as we’ve had better food and service in other places.

To be honest, I was very excited to try it, but I got disappointed, and the food was tooooooooo oily for the chips and the burger I really couldn’t continue eating. And when I complain to the worker, he says oh OK :) . Literally, just like that.

Decent food, fine for getting a bite to eat before heading to a concert at the Festival. Plenty of students since it's a university area. Best to walk there since parking it's expensive in the area.

Not fresh at all I found a kitchen flies in my fries and when i told the waitress they didn’t bother to apologise, I asked for it to be just canceled from my receipt there was no management when i asked for one. the check burger was burned not fried! We paid £46 and it’s not worth it. Neither me nor my partner finished our food. the restaurant was completely empty. We didn't think it was bad according to Google's reviews , but it's really less than one star , they add lots of salt in their fries and sauces in their burger! I'm not exaggerating, but it's the worst food I've ever experienced there is no topping os salad with the burger all what you get is bread and the meat. we are not from Edinburgh, and all we wanted was a restaurant close to us, with a car park but it was horrible.

Visited the pizza place inside here and pizza was great. American style thick base rather than traditional. Incredibly tasty.

Second branch of Butta Burger and it's just as good as the original. My chicken Kiev burger was smoothered in a delicious black garlic mayo. The chicken was succulent with a crispy coating and a good quality bun. Togarashi fries were crispy and moorish. Ordered a bonnet hot sauce dip on the side which did exactly what it said on the tin.

TLDR: it’s not worth it! Reuben Burger: Costing 14 pounds and labelled as their best, the Reuben falls off the a cliff of expectations steeper than Arthur’s Seat. Overpowered by a lacklustre sauce, the other ingredients in the burger succumb to a terrible fate. Tiny dried out beef patties, cheap wholesale pickles and cheese, and the pastrami! I don’t know what it was doing there? Clearly, using the catch all phrase of ‘wagyu beef’ for its patties was the supposed gimmick intended to frame ‘premiumness’ that was just sorely lacking at every bite. Sorry, but this burger could come from a Macdonalds on a good day. Truffle Fries: A large plate of truffle fries, pretty decent although not much truffle tasting was to be had. Twas likely that the truffle oil bottle they spray the fries with had a faulty spout, or the cook was simply being stingy. Nevertheless, like most reviews, I found the fries to be perfectly cooked, clearly the one food item they nailed at this establishment. Hopefully they can work with the same caliber on their miserable burgers.. Service: Excellent! Servers were thoughtful and quick. Even cut the terrible Reuben burger in half for sharing. Although clearly the seating arrangements could be better, as large groups of customers arrived and some had to rearrange the seatings for their own selves.

Went her today again probably the 8th or 9th time. As usual, the burgers are legendary, but I'm not sure the Homies collab works. It feels more rushed, and the upstairs, which was sometimes a nice space to eat has completely gone so everyone has to sit downstairs, and it felt squashed.

Really tasty. My wife unconsciously kept saying “yeah, that’s good” after every bite of our truffle chick sandwich. Fries were good too.

Yum! Fried chicken is super super fresh and yummy, beef truffle burger is my favorite! Wings are huge so that is something to keep in mind regarding portions

The fries were fine but the burger terrible - it tasted like the sauce was used to cover up for the fact that the rest of the burger had little flavour. When I went into the restaurant there was only one other table and in use and when I left the same. Despite this i was told to not use tables for more than 2 people which meant only having the choice of a couple of tables in the middle of the space and away from the windows and light. A service charge was also added to the bill and it was not make clear that there would be a service charge. If looking for a good quality lunch would recommend Nanyang next door.

Amazing truffle burger - love this place

Best burgers and sides in town. Yet to find somewhere that tops it, a go to when we have visitors.

Greatly overpriced for what you get - modest portions of mediocre food. Plus, there was a 10% "discretionary service charge" applied to our bill, despite the wait staff never coming over to check on our food.

Omg! Now this is a hidden little gem! A real butter burger style joint offering top quality burgers, beef dripping gravy sides and huge portion of fries! Excellent taste and friendly staff with a great playlist in the background! That's my diet gone out the window! 😝

Are you joking? Look at those burgers! We had the beef Smokey Q burger (fine as hell, tender) and the Truffle Chick which was the showstopper - massive bit of fried chicken (crunchy and succulent) crispy fried onions and covered in their homemade truffle mayo, unreal. It was that big, you need to ask for cutlery. Also had some Kiev fingers which were amazing, fried to perfection. Togarashi fries (japanese spice mix) which were great. And fried house pickles! Absolutely belly busting stuff, we could not finish it all. This place is a definite visit, whenever you’re around!

I love coming here and have always had good food and great service but for a change, I decided to order a delivery from here. However, the burger was over fried but it still had a decent taste. The chips were great though! Hopefully, they’ll improve for next time :)

Literally one of the best burgers I've ever had in Scotland - Truffle Beef Burger is SO GOOD! I do generally just love the vibe of Butta Burger, very casual with a great menu and £6 cocktails as well. What's not to love!

I went with my mother and my sister, everything was excellent, the attention and the hamburger was delicious. I recommend it if you come to Edinburgh

Absolute shocking. Can’t believe I wait for my burger for half an hour and chicken wings are running out. 10% service charges are mandatory Definitely AVOID.

Burger was fine but not worth 12-14 pounds. Parmesan fries were closer to plain fries since most of the parmesan was on the bottom of the basket instead of on the fries. Chicken fingers were quite dry. We saw some chicken burgers at another table and those looked pretty good.

3.5 out of 5. Why? The merch, the warm colours, vegan and meaty food was great. However Butta Burger didn't cater for gluten free. What would make Butta burger stand out and get more customers is if it had a gluten free option for a burger. It is a lot easier to do than others might think and if you need a hand with getting it sorted just let me know. Happy to come try out and give a few tips. Got a burger without a bun but the way the beef burger is made has gluten in it and could of been happy with a plain chicken without the batter.

This was a quirky nice place. Known for its burgers. I loved the decor and the way this place looked. It had Boho dinner vibes. It was clean. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was good but my burger was not as hot as I would have liked it (which is a preference). There are 2 locations in Edinburgh. I went to the one in quatermile which was very nice.

I’ve eaten at Butta Burger on a number of occasions and have to say I’m a convert to Chicken Burgers when I go there. The choice is fairly extensive and the food quality is high Recently we have held functions at Butta Burger, Quartermile, Edinburgh On 7th February we held an event with 55 attendees and the staff(Sonny,Denim, Anna) not to mention, the kitchen staff coped really well. Totally recommend for those who have not visited

The burgers here are really good, and exceeded expectations. The staff was friendly but the service wasn't the fastest. I would still definitely recommend butta burger to anyone who loves a good burger though as it certainly didn't disappoint on the food front.
