Burnbrae - Pub & Grill in East Dunbartonshire

Popped in here for lunch in between Christmas and New Year, we had only ever been in for breakfast previously. It always seems to have at least a few tables in here but there is plenty of tables and there is never usually a wait. I ordered the hot honey battered chicken burger which was fantastic, you get such a big portion and the chicken itself was delicious as well as the toppings. My partner had the fish and chips who advised it was lovely with fresh batter. I marked 4 stars for service as it did take around 20mins for our plates to be cleared and to get the bill when we were finished but it won't stop us from coming back!

Service was great. Atmosphere great. Food was ok, I had fajitas and they weren’t as good as getting a packet from old El Paso and eating at home. Kids meals seemed good.

We were the only mixed race couple and we didn't feel welcomed. Our order was messed up, noone came to check on us like what did they did on other customers. Ordered Sirloin steak, was given ramp, ordered orange juice with nice, was given a glass full of ice. The guy who served us really showed us that he had nothing to do with us! Which is a shame as visitors. Shameonya! The man man with a black T-shirt, tattoos on his arms and a beard. Treat customers the same. Regardless of their race or status

We were made to feel welcome and our seating preferences were met. We were looked after by Dominic and service was excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. One of our party was disappointed that he couldn't have the festive menu. We hadn't realised it had to be booked in advance. Looking forward to our next visit.

Extremely rude staff spoiled what should of been a nice night out. Food was excellent but this did not make up for the way we were spoken to by two female members of staff.

Excellent food (we had the steaks), attentive service from all the servers. Lovely real fire place made for a cosy Sunday lunch. Will be back.

Excellent service from Jo. Friendly and efficient

I read a few negative reviews prior to my visit and so was rather apprehensive. However, my experience was wholly positive. There's a great selection of cask ales, all well kept, and there's a warm, friendly atmosphere throughout the pub. The food was excellent value - steak and ale pie, mash, mushy peas and gravy for £12.99. Service from Melissa was also first class. Just a shame I only discovered the place on the final night of my trip.

We were shown to our seats was really busy .ordered the grill steak was like eating old shoe chicken went home to the dog peas were cold sausage was disgusting drinks came half way through meal .got £3.00 off won't be back

Nice enough chain-pub with some good beers on tap. Could have easily been marred by the gloriously grumpy barmaid had we not been in good spirits and found it amusing being barked at. Scottish hospitality at it's finest, not quite I'm afraid.

Booked a table tonight for 615 for my husband’s 60th birthday. The table that we had there was a really bad draft. I spoke to the manager to explain it was really cold were we were sitting and was there any chance we could change tables i did this in a calm manner . The manager was very annoyed because of this she was extremely unhelpful ,eventually gave us another table but displayed how angry she was because of this . I have been a staff nurse for 30 years and can fully understand how difficult it can be working with the public .The atmosphere was terrible we had our food and left . Our server was a girl called Roisin she was really friendly and approachable . I am afraid i wont be back at the Burnbrae again because of the attitude of the manager .

First time there and was very impressed. Roaring Log Fire was very Welcoming.

My wife and I have been visiting the Burnbrae for some years now. We are always just a walk in and have never had an issue but we turned up on Wednesday 16th October for the two mains and two drinks for £20 deal and the female at the entrance was quite blunt with us saying we will have to wait about an hour or maybe more. We left to go elsewhere but I decided to try booking online and got a table right away. Obviously we could have been seated as I would not have been able to book so easily online if the place was fully booked out. When returned and I said we now have a booking the same female said I'll check your table as someone was on it which was strange when we just made the booking minutes ago. Very unprofessional person to be on the door as on past occasions we have never had this issue. Our server Dominik was great and food as ever was lovely. The three stars is due to the female at the entrance.

14 of us went for dinner the night before my brother's wedding and from start to finish it was an absolute disaster. We were more than understanding about the food delivery issue, meaning there were a few things on the menu they couldn't offer. We were served two drinks and two meals despite already ordering for everyone and we were asked if we wanted to order food, no one seemed to be aware we already had. This happened again, advised there was an issue with the system when really they could of just written the order down. The food came in drive and drabs and half of it was dry, some of us didn't even take the meal put down to us. I had chicken skewers and the tomatoes on the salad tasted like fish as though they'd been taken off another plate. The staff didn't appear to know how to deal with the situation, when advising it wasn't their fault and they'd just came on shift and one of their colleagues had gone home. I feel despite all the issues they had to deal with a bit of communication between the staff team and communication with the customers would of went a long way. The poor food was just the icing on the cake really. My sister also ended up very sick half way through the wedding on the Monday and had to go to bed which we don't think was a coincidence. Disappointed as the reviews online appear good but we definitely wouldn't go back as there was just problem after problem. Overall poor communication and inability to problem solve.

Lovely food and service at a reasonable price

The lady who took our order was very rude (Sunday 6th Oct 2024 at 1pm) there was 14 in the party and everyone in the party all said the same. Rest of staff were lovely except that woman taking the orders. It spoiled it for us as we where celebrating an engagement

My husband and I went for dinner on Friday evening. £12.99 for a bottle of fizz!!! Fantastic!! The food was absolutely delicious. Cajun chicken for me and fish and chips for hubby. We both cleared our plates. Compliments to the chef! Our waiter was Luca and he was so attentive and lovely with it. Cant wait to go back.

Been coming here for nearly 10 years and can never fault the food , the majority of the staff last night were very friendly as usual but 1 particular female staff member who showed is to our table came across as rude and unprofessional in her job. After our meal we waited to order drinks at the table and she appeared and says are youse having anything alse, quite rude ,like she wanted us off the table, when we ordered a couple of beers she looked annoyed and it left me and my partner a bit uncomfortable that we should maybe just give up our seats but we had only been here less than an hour and wanted to at least let our food settle. We did go into the bar area to enjoy a few drinks and did notice she was equally rude to another lady who had a problem with her bill. It's such a shame for a great place to be getting brought down by 1 rude staff member.

Had a supper with friends. The grilled salmon and sides were very good. The atmosphere was friendly and not too loud. Our server Olivia was efficient and friendly. We all had a good time. Thanks!

First time here lovely Sunday roast. Altho they had ran out of beef for the trio they apologised.

We popped in on a Saturday evening without a booking. They managed to find us a table near the bar. Very helpful and attentively staff. Food is good and they have a good selection of drinks if you are not driving.

Meet up with some family, the staff were great even with the late arrival of some of the family, food was great and a nice wee place would be happy to go again, price wise was standard, good selection of beers and food, really good atmosphere too

Had a really lovely meal there. Food was great, service was excellent and on the whole it was excellent value for money.

Fine we were there for a funeral tea. Good room where folk could meet and talk which is the most important part. Tea & coffee was supposed to be supplied but wasn't. Food appeared late and the vegetarian stuff not clearly identified. The party probably arrived later than expected and we're predominantly well over 65. Experience could have been better but not enough to complain about.

Definitely NOT worth the money, could have better food in McDonalds!! Very very overpriced and over rated. Would NOT recommend.

The reason for a 3 star review... running out of bottles of Prosecco at 8pm on a Friday night. Seriously!! We felt so sorry for the absolutely brilliant server who was left with the rubbish job of facing off to the customers when clearly management are the ones doing the ordering of stock! Get it sorted because this isn't the first time it's happened. But that aside, the usual great service and good food.

Had to send back chicken skewers because they were not cooked properly. Also had a steak pie which had hardly any steak in it. I don't want to hear staff talking so loudly about serving tables. We're given drinks the wrong way round. I'm hoping this is a one off because last time we went, ordering the same food it was fine.

Just had another great meal here tonight. Pub/ restaurant was very busy but we weren't kept waiting and the staff were handling it well. Our server was Phoebe and she was very polite, attentive and had a laugh with us. This is our go to place and never had a bad experience. Food tastes lovely and fresh and value for money.

We had a great time with friends at Burnbrae tonight. Good food with welcoming atmosphere and service from the heart. Phoebe was really sincere and passionate. We would give her 6 stars if we could.

Very well maintained and authentic pub with good food. Burger was great, unfortunately steak wasn't quite medium-rare as ordered. The service immediately asked whether it was still okay or should be changed. Prices are completely reasonable (burger with side order £15)

Amazing service, our server, Phoebe kindly helped us with a surprise for our friend who had a birthday. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. We had 13 people that night which was quite a lot, but all of us thought that it was a great dinner!

Lovely atmosphere in here always. Very busy and friendly.

Food very average. Experience spoiled by the fact that you either had to download an app or trek downstairs, from the outdoor deck, everytime you wanted to order anything. Were not allowed to order directly from waiting staff. Could only order from the bar and they had only one (hard working) barperson to order from. Felt very self-service. The consequence was that we didn't stay after eating. Normally, would have stayed for a couple of drinks on a nice sunny afternoon.

A warm welcome was given to us by the manageress 😁 Our waitress Olivia G was most attentive to us which we really appreciated, she's a lovely and polite young lady. Phoebe who served us at the bar was very kind and attentive when I enquired about the selection of drinks. Nothing was any bother for her. Husband had Katsu curry which he enjoyed and I had Rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. Fabulous staff especially the chefs, Phoebe and Olivia G. They are an absolute credit to your establishment.

One starter came before our drinks, that was finished when another starter came. Service quite disjointed. Didn't bother ordering dessert as dinner took so long.

Had the Sunday roast beef and it was in ineadible, shoe leather. Served pink ? Same colour as ham. Definitely a ping restaurant, wondered why we were the only ones eating outside. Definitely no chefs in this place.

Visited tonight to have dinner abd watch the Scotland v Germany game. Our server was Joe. She was bright and cheery. A breath of fresh air. Great service frim her. Craig supplied the drinks and again lovely, friendly service. 2 great front of house people to make customers feel welcome . The food was very good too. We all enjoyed our meals.

I would absolutely say the highlight of this visit was Jo. She always had a spring in her step, happy, fun & always smiling. She was an absolute delight. 10/10 The bbq platter was beautiful, although I had to request more bbq sauce. The Steak sandwich was lovely. The haggis fritter starter was perfect & the sauce was beautiful - even though we should of ordered one each instead of sharing! 9/10 Overall 9.5/10!

We went for a drink, there was 11 of us, the manager was rude disinterested and made us feel most unwelcome, the staff on the other hand were very nice! We were asked to leave as they needed the table for dinner, the restaurant was empty, we were never offered a menu,9 were on coffee or soft drinks, they just lost a lot of business, we went somewhere else for a meal! And will not be back!! We did say to the manager when we left, but she did not understand why we complained!

I have to admit that I was surprised how lovely the food was! The filet steak was cooked to perfection and equalled anything I’ve had in a fancy steak restaurant so kudos to the chef last night! Staff were so welcoming to my dog as well and I’m still gutted I couldn’t add a tip on with my card and I had no cash. A tip was well deserved!

We enjoyed a lovely meal here last night. My 8 year old son has food allergies (which are not listed in the top 14 allergens) - the staff were so helpful and went above and beyond to cater for him. A big thank you to Paul, Craig and our waiter Dominic who was just fantastic.

Wow, such friendly staff right from the off. We came in on the off chance as the place were we’re supposed to be eating closed their kitchen due to staff shortage. We arrived at about 8pm & were greeted with a smile. The good was outstanding, we both had the ultimate BBQ which was delicious, many compliments to the chef, the ribs just fell off the bone. Table service was a bonus & very much appreciated. If we’re ever in this neck of the woods again we will certainly come back 😊

We were visiting Glasgow for work & were staying in the hotel next door. We went here for dinner on both nights and Jo was our waitress on night 2. She was outstanding and a credit to the establishment. A warm and friendly welcome, great attention to detail and attentive to us throughout.

The food was my favourite part, I only had onion rings but they were still fantastic. Our server, struan was fantastic too.
