Super early dinner, good service quick yummy food. tortellini filled will meat, sausage linguine and a Calzone pizza Finished with banoffee pie

Such a friendly, homely atmosphere, plus great food. The staff were helpful and accommodating and made the whole experience pleasurable.

Great food and service as always. The menu had changed a bit since our last visit (no lamb rack) but we were happy with our choice of chicken with mozzarella and prosciutto, and my sirloin. The mussels and clam starter was a bit gritty and would have benefited from a better rinse / clean before cooking. We always would prefer linen serviettes rather than paper but hey. Overall a great fun place to go and still the best food in Burgess Hill.

First visit here after living in the area for almost 30 years….what can I say..wish I’d gone sooner!!!! Went with three friends, greeted with a fantastic welcome followed by wonderful service & food. All faultless, why only 3 stars then you wonder? Put simply two of us felt ripped off, especially given that all things on the menu generally represent excellent value for money. Two of us ordered a particular favourite of Parmigiana Di Melanzane , this is priced at £12 for a starter portion, however we asked for it as a main & our waitress explained that as main it was simply a double portion of the main (she said this was small). We made the mistake of not asking the price. We had (very wrongly) assumed that it would be priced similarly to their other vegetarian dishes (e.g main course veggie cannelloni is £12,95). We were rather shocked when we were charged £24 each, yes, double the starter price, for our mains. Other dishes at this prices (understandably) on the menu are steak/veal type of things. I am always happy to pay a fair price, especially for food well prepared & cooked, however this seemed a ridiculous charge for a dish of aubergine, tomato & cheese, as delicious as it was. My regret is that I didn’t say anything at the time. One never does in situations such as this as it is embarrassing :(((

Unmatched service today for my mum’s birthday lunch. A moment of escapism where we felt like we were lunching in Italy in the middle of Burgess Hill- quite an achievement. The staff did all they could to mark my mum’s birthday, playing special birthday music as they bought out our cake and personally being attentive to her. Mum dropped and smashed her full glass during the first course which she felt very bad about, but the staff rushed to clear up the spillage and replace our food. Thanks for a memorable lunch - we will return as soon as we can and will take better care of our glassware :-). Grazie mille a tutti.

Excellent establishment, great choice of food, good sized portions, attentive staff. If there was a negative it would be a personal one I do not eat chocolate so desert choice was limited.

What a lovely restaurant, with a lovely atmosphere. All of the food orders was lovely and hit the spot. I mis-read my starter in the low light without my glasses and ordered chopped tomatoes on toast. When I pointed out my error, they changed it to chopped peppers on toast. lovely. Thank you.

First time here. 6 of us sat in the front table by front door, cold when door opened each time but no where to move to. What choice did we have? Owner thought a fan heater on one side was the solution but it was not and i wish we had moved n this cold weather. Felt Fobbed off to be honest and realised by the end of our meal that the owner showed very little interest in the customer experience . Food was ok, pizzas good, and younger service staff very attentive . Calamari’s was £12 for a starter so £24 for 12 calamari rings was very expensive as was not large or especially well cooked or flavoured . I mentioned this to the owner but he wasn’t interested. A little recognition of the price v the size/ standard would have been well received. I’m afraid we are unlikely to return. Never thought I would say this as a foodie but for a meal with kids I would be more satisfied using my Tesco vouchers at a chain restaurant, nothing to ride home about here …

Fabulous night we were a party of ten and a spontaneous catch up of old neighbours. Buon Appetito didn't disappoint, we had a variety of starters from the menu which all went down well, then on to mains some choosing pasta others including myself went for Pizza Calzoni, all washed down with some excellent Red and White House wines, desserts were mixed some choosing the Italian Ice Cream, some Tiramisu. All the food was well cooked and presented, and most important great tasting. Staff were very friendly and helping even adding a table to our seating area to enable more space. Looking for a great Italian authentic restaurant in Burgess Hill Buon Appetite is the place!

We had a last minute arranged lunch here yesterday with family and as usual it didn’t disappoint. Food, service, ambience all excellent . Special mention to our young waiter Josh who delivered service with a smile and perfection. Nothing was too much trouble and he was happy to check on any of our requests and food was exactly how we asked for it ! We hadn’t visited for a while but it’s great to know that with all the changes going on both locally and globally you can still rely on our local lovely family run Italian to keep to the high standards we have come to expect ! The staff were polite and friendly however the food was terrible. The seafood pasta dish was made with frozen ingredients that were of very poor quality and the salad had old wilted lettuce and the most unexpected dressing that was inedible. Shame as the atmosphere was nice.

We were visiting Burgess Hill and don’t know the are so chose based on Google and Trip Advisor recommendations. We weren’t disappointed. This is a super,family run, authentic Italian restaurant. The menu is varied and helping are generous. We thoroughly enjoyed our pasta dishes and managed to squeeze in delicious desserts. We loved the decor and ambiance.. .reminiscent of Italian restaurants of our youth!

Best Italian I have eaten. Creamy tasty spaghetti dish that was served piping hot and served promptly by staff who were present, but not overpowering. This is the second time we have eaten here and definitively won't be the last.

A lovely authentic Italian restaurant in Burgess Hill. It would be easy to just pass by on the road between Hassocks and Haywards Heath but this restaurant is certainly worth a visit. There are plenty of tasty dishes to choose from and welcoming, friendly servers. We once again had a very enjoyable lunch there and will be returning as soon as we can.

Went there for a family meal. Steak was served with a small dish of diced cold potatoes and a few leafs of rocket. (No vegetables) Chicken dish the same without vegetables although menu states all meat dishes come with vegetables. A lasagne was heated in a microwave and well over cooked and dry. Another of our party also had a steak with the same small pot of potatoes and few rocket leafs. Service is quite poor. So in a nutshell below average food and service.

Genuine Italian family restaurant. Recently expanded restaurant floorspace. The Italian chefs produce excellent pizza/calzone at a fair price, but watch the cost of the extra toppings. We took my son on 2nd February 2023 for this birthday celebration, the staff were great and very accommodating, made us feel right at home. My boys made their own pizza`s and enjoyed every minute. Great food and great service, i highly recommend this restaurant.

Nice Friday lunch, went with fried courgettes to start which we’re disappointing to much batter and not enough courgette. The mains more than made up for the starter cannelloni and tagliatelle with prawns, cream and mushrooms very tasty !

Very expensive for basic Italian food. My starter of 4 prawns was £14.00 pizza was £23.00 and a pint of lager £6.50! Portion sizes enormous and couldn’t finish our meals. It is pleasant but prices too high for something that’s not fancy

Shame as has a captive audience but simply not worthy of the price. The starters were cold, greasy and the garlic bread was awful. They did replace it with zero fuss which was great. The mains were ok. The pannacotta had split/curdled so was more akin to rice pudding. Won't be returning. Also, when there is an issue with the food, service should not automatically be added. We would have paid service anyhow as it was reasonable but just the gesture/recognition not all was as it could be.

Horrible experience! We came here to grab an express lunch as we know the one in hove.This is the original, so we expected it to be good.Firstly we were told that there was nowhere for us to wait inside for the 20 mins to make our pizza, (despite the restaurant only having one table in) so rather than waiting in the wind, we sat in the car.When we collected our pizza we requested pepper and chilli oil before we left and we’re told that they would be an extra charge!!!! WHAT???!!…. No extra at hove!Then we went to pay, and they told us that actually for the lunch offer the prefer cash!!!!The pizza was horrible! We have eaten at the hove branch so many time so had a comparison.Both bases were burnt and tasted bitter, the tomato sauce lacked any flavour and the base was so doughy….well mine was my companions was rock hard!He had mushroom pizza, ….well 8 bits of dry charred mushrooms!!!Never again! Better to have a supermarket sandwich for a better lunch deal!!!

Not impressed. The whole experience was very rushed. My starter was so hot - it had clearly been microwaved. No sooner had we finished starters and the mains came out. Again - far too hot. Restaurant was stupidly busy and very noisy. Music played far too loud. It’s my birthday today and my husband had called the restaurant to tell them. Despite this, there was no recognition. Yet another customer had a birthday and had the birthday song sung to them with a cake brought out. I had nothing. Food was ok. Nothing spectacular and expensive for what it was. All in all a very disappointing experience on my birthday. We will not return

Delicious authentic Italian. A please tell surprise to find passing through an otherwise ordinary town. Recommend the seafood risotto and mussels starter and best bruschetta have had in long time. Go hungry as it will be a feast.

Booked a table for two on the Monday for Saturday for 7.30 got there at 7.28 on the Saturday and was asked to sit at a table outside because the table was not ready after 10 minutes of waiting cancelled the table have had problems with this restaurant before but thought would give it a go but no way never go back no organisation very disappointed as it was my birthday and my boyfriend wanted to give me a special treat as others have said it expensive

We had popped down to Brighton as it was a beautiful evening, we had drinks on the beach and then looked for somewhere to eat, everywhere was busy so we decided to head back home and see if we could get a table at Buon Appetito in Burgess Hill as we have eaten here several times and each time the meal has been brilliant. It was nearly 8.30pm by the time we arrived but they were delighted to have us even though the restaurant was very busy buzzing with atmosphere. They fitted us in and the meal did not disappoint. If you love fresh pizza and fresh homemade pasta this is the place to visit. Authentic Italian food and great service.

What can I say but wow and thank you for the excellent service food and ambiance we were greeted with such warmth and attended to with such kindness the food was absolutely amazing there were 19 of us the food all came together and hot and perfectly cooked the whole family had a fantastic time and we WILL be back thank you Eugenio and your team you helped make my evening memorable x

Near-faultless. Friendly staff upon entering, a large menu and more than happy to cater for our peculiar dietary requests. The garlic bread to start was delicious and the pieces large and the olives were some of the best I've ever eaten worldwide. There was a main for everyone - pizza, pasta, chicken, steak. I had the chicken and potatoes which was delicious: rich tomato sauce with plenty of peppers and a decent sized chicken breast and others had a lovely rustic pizza and similarly delicious pasta. The ONLY complaint I could have is that the chicken was possibly slightly dry. All in all, fantastic food and given how much of it there was, the price was more than reasonable.

We always enjoy food from Buon Appetito. Recently due to the pandemic we’ve had more takeaways and always impressed with the friendly service, reasonable prices and delicious menu. This week we were very grateful they went to the trouble of delivering to us despite not offering delivery that night as we were having to isolate so couldn’t travel out to pick up. Much appreciated!

Called this restaurant just after they opened up for the evening at 6pm on a Saturday evening to order take away. Order was taken and were told that it would be ready for 7:10pm. After driving there and eventually finding a parking spot in time for the scheduled time, we were informed that we should have been told it would be ready for 7:45pm?! Wasn’t invited inside the restaurant to wait or any apology offered. Very disappointed and would not recommend based on this. If you cannot cope with offering take away service as well, maybe stick to the in-restaurant dining only.

This is becoming a go-to for family meals. The menu has a something to please everyone, the food and service are great. We sat by the front this time with the window open and it almost felt like we were on the continent - we would definitely ask for this table again.

Excellent service and fantastic food is the only way to describe everything at Buon Appetito. Everything on the menu is fab and the Pizzas are exceptional, will be back again soon.

My wife recently started to work in Burgess Hill and brought back pizza she had one lunchtime. It was so authentic and reasonably priced. As I was on annual eave and daughter on school holidays today, we decided to meet up for lunch and get pizza from Buon Appetito. The lady who served us was professional and very friendly - An asset to the business. Just before I ordered, someone paid for one pizza £4 contactless on card. When it came to me,the ist was £12.75. I offered my card and the 'manager' said it was 'cheaper to pay by card and asked me to go and get cash from the cashpoint machine in the nearby garage. I felt insulted and disappointed. I was about to walk off and not have anything but he then said OK. Rude, patronising and unprofessional. With COVID, contactless is encouraged. Maybe someone should ask why he wants cash? Great pizza but never again because of him and his attitude.

We’d been looking forward to having a treat takeaway during half term and this didn’t disappoint. It was piping hot, so fresh and delicious. My family and I used to travel a few miles into Brighton to find a decent Italian restaurant, until we tried this gem on our doorstep! Have had takeaway or deliveries 5 or 6 times in recent months, not eaten in the restaurant yet, but staff are always friendly and the food is amazing (especially the spaghetti bolognese and pizzas). Will keep ordering deliveries/takeaway during lockdown, and will definitely eat in in the near future. Thank you!

First visit,very covid safe warm and welcoming on arrival.Calamari excellent,clams and tortellini wonderful,and my funghi with tagliatelle faultless. So full we had to bring our dessert home😄 Very attentive and cheerful service...we will return when we can!.

Had a lovely authentic Italian meal. Very attentive staff and it was a well organised restaurant. We ordered a variety of meals within our party and each and every one was excellent. Not the cheapest but worth paying that little bit extra. If you like a lager rather than a wine then Moretti is on draught.

We went for lunch. The main was amazing, very nice. The waiter didn't speak much English, he didn't understand me when i asked which flavour of ice cream was in the "mixed ice creams". I would also have a look at the menu before you go in, they were filthy and sticky. Somehow the ink had been printed on there multiple times, we could hardly see what was to order. Dessert is nothing to be excited about.

First visit last night, and it did not disappoint. A warm welcome and attentive staff through the meal, but not over the top. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the background music and lighting added to the atmosphere. The food was fabulous - great tasting and beautifully presented. Visited recently , the welcome was good but that’s where it stopped (unless you are a regular) order taken , but had to ask for a finger bowl, main course had to ask for parmigiana and pepper where as old customers had full attention of the staff whilst we languished opposite trying to attract attention for the above mentioned items, when discussing this with the owner he became very defensive not accepting our constructive polite criticism.It’s a shame the food was good prices reasonable but the service let it down

My children adore this restaurant and this was best shown by the fact that as soon as lock-down ended the girls demanded that we returned to the restaurant (we had plenty of takeaway pizza before the main restaurant opened)The staff are amazing, each of them is polite, friendly and clearly happy to talk to with children and not patronise them.The food is excellent and plentiful, I really cannot fault any food that has been served from this restaurant.The wine list is good and should satisfy most people.Desserts are lovely and tasty.We were lucky to have a window table at our last visit and with the outside temperature in the low 30 Celsius, it made the evening that little bit more special.I honestly cannot fault this restaurant and would recommend it to everyone.

The restaurant has just reopened after lockdown and has adapted perfectly. We had dinner for 6 people, there was plenty of space and all Covid guidelines were followed scrupulously. The food was fabulous and the portions were huge - even the teenagers couldn’t manage dessert. The team were so friendly, they were happy to adapt dishes for us, and we had a great evening. The bill was good value. We would definitely return.

We recently got a takeaway meal and were not very impressed. The food was expensive for what it was with the starters costing on average 8 or so pound. The salami pasta was basic, tomato sauce with salami slices and peppers thrown in, nothing cut up. The mozarella fritta didnt have the gooey mozarella inside i was hoping for. I understand due to coronavirus they were probably more busy than usual with lots of takeaway orders and despite the poor food the system of collection was organised and ran smoothly.

As per all my reviews they are honest, good or bad. After returning for the U.K. for a few days I made the trip here with my sister. Great lunchtime menu , normally restaurants get a bit slap dash when they do a promotion but these guys have not done that at all! Great size food and great ingredients. I went ott and ordered pizza and pasta , both delicious.Really nice cosy restaurant, would recommend this place.

We were a party of 11 family for a 30th birthday party. Eugenio, Matthew & all staff were professional, attentive and warm. The food was excellent, good quality restaurant standard. Their efforts to make the birthday special when the candles were lit made a very memorable evening, with the usual singing of happy birthday but followed by the whole restaurant singing & swaying to ‘that’s amore’, with staff banging metal utensils, SUCH fun. Yes, space is tight, but that has added to the restaurant’s character for decades, love the new extension. Thank you Buon Appetito!

Restaurant has recently been extended and refurbished and looks great although we were sitting opposite the window looking out onto the petrol station. A scenic view of Italy would have been preferable - maybe the window could be screened/decorated in some way! We booked for 6.30pm and the restaurant was packed. Food was all very good as was the service. Would definitely recommend.

We have visited twice in the last week, both times with friends, had a great lunch on Thursday, pasta and shared a salad between 2, very good, lunch offer very good value. Visited again on Saturday evening and ate from the main menu, the calamari and the Salmon were both very good.will defintely be back soon

Walked in on valentines having not booked and was greeted so warmly by the staff and given a table straight away. Wine and food excellent. Staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We have been before and had a good experience. We sat in the newly opened extension which has doubled the size of the restaurant. The menu has been changed and prices are significantly higher and some dishes from the previous menu are no longer offered. The website still shows the old menu.

Great welcome when not busy at 6pm. Numerous overlaps with service in that we had ordered drinks only to be asked again and again. Meal order was incorrect and had to be sent back. Apologies all round but then bill included the more expensive food which we did not order. Quickly sorted and we paid the bill but then asked to leave as others waiting!! Not at all happy as none of the problems were of our making. Disorganised...

........ and already booked the round table, for our next "special occasion."I say "special occasion" as Buon Appetito is quite expensive, especially if you opt for the "plates" that require a side dish, meaning some main meals could cost £25+. However, "sides" are large enough to be shared.We all opted for starters, pasta or risotto mains, desserts and drinks, (£35 pp). And as with any special meal here, you get the "extra service" to celebrate with!The refurbishment, has given the restaurant far more, much needed space, but standards remain high in all areas.

We had a lovely evening at the newly refurbished restaurant, in front of the open fire. Food wonderful as usual and good service. One of the best restaurants in Burgess Hill still.

There is always a friendly atmosphere as well as very good food and wine. It has recently been tastefully extended to accommodate more diners.

Visited this restaurant for lunch with friends to celebrate a birthday. What a great choice, food was excellent as was the service. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. They are shutting for 2 weeks after our visit for refurbishment, but we will certainly be visiting again when the work is completed.

My wife and I visited for lunch yesterday. The restaurant extension looks great and the quality of food, service and welcome at lunch were of the usual high standard we have come to know and love.

To begin, I rarely give 5 * rating, but thought this little restaurant was a deserving all rounder for their service, food, ambience and value for money on a weekday lunch (£3 for any pasta or pizza dish). Great refurb!!, with fireplace (nice touch), tasteful, warm and welcoming, like stepping into a little slice of Italy with 'the lingo' beautifully incorporated into the service. I had spaghetti and my friend calzone, both piping hot,with the tomato back flavours clearly homemade and delightful. Cutlery shining, glasses gleaming, staff pitched service just right, so we splashed out on a more expensive bottle of rose wine as felt the whole experience was worth it. Think about booking at lunch times as it does get very busy. So pleased I'm local will defo become a local haunt.

This was our first visit to this Neapolitan run restaurant and whilst we only had Pizza’s they were absolutely fantastic, really tasty as they should be and as authentic a Pizza that you might have in Napoli. We will be back soon.

Always a really warm welcome here.. (I`ve eaten here several times). Superb menu choice and authentic Italian food. Nice ambience, helpful staff, great service and very very competitive price .. Always love going ( as did my old dad ! ) . Really highly recommend. You do need to book in advance as always busy. Parking sometimes possible right outside ,otherwise in road round the corner just a few minutes away.

Went to Buon Appetito for lunch unbelievable value for money £3 for any pasta dish or Pizza had the best Pizza I’ve ever tasted with a gorgeous bottle of the house wine . Found the Staff so friendly and welcoming will defiantly be going back for lunch and evening meal.

Recently my daughter and granddaughter and I decided to have lunch at buono appatio they were very friendly and the food was the best. 5 stars we all enjoyed the meal the best italian food since my mothers who was italian who passed away 10 years ago, and this food reminds me of her home cooking Grazie tanto

Came for work meeting in the most boring town ever Burgess Hill, bit found this nice Italian. I had the pizza with salami , nice and tasty . Then a tiramisu for desert . Good service .nice wine

We visited on Saturday afternoon so wasn’t too busy. Food was superb! the best Tagliatelle I have ever had! and husband says his pizza was so tasty. We’ll be coming back for an evening meal very soon. Lovely friendly waiter too

Visited with friends on a Saturday night, be warned, book as it was full. Food and service are both excellent. I had the swordfish with sundried tomatoes, best meal I've had for ages. Vegetables and salad have to be ordered separately which does make it expensive but worth it. Yes, the tables are very close together but, fear not, they are expanding into the shop next door so hopefully there will be more room in the future.
