Bull Inn At Pentraeth in Isle of Anglesey

Had yet another great meal tonight at the Bull Inn, their burger on the new menu is amazing. As well as their carvery which was fresh and the meat was wonderful. 10/10

Thought we would stop here for something to eat as they had a play area for the kids. Had the carvery and am really disappointed. Turkey and beef were extremely dry, mash was lumpy, veg tasted as if it had been frozen, roasts were burnt and had a horrible taste, stuffing was so hard I couldn't bite through it. Don't normally do reviews but, I didn't want anyone else wasting their money.

This was our first visit for 18 months and what a wonderful experience it was!! The Bull is under new management and what a wonderful welcome we received. The refurbishment is amazing and the food out out of this world!!! The staff are so friendly and the chef always on hand to discuss the food. How nice to see Val at thd helm. You run a great ship Val. The daily carvery is a must and Yvonne my wife recommends the scampi. Fantastic menu and specials board and all dishes so reasonably priced. Really looking forward to bringing family and friends here for an excellent dining experience. Beers, wines and choices for children very good too. Thanks to all the team. Lee and Yvonne. Just had the Carvery at the Bull ,what can I say absolutely Delicious, can't fault ,everything cooked to perfection, Top Marks to ALL the Staff, walked up the lane from Frongoh Campsite, if we lived here would have a Table every Sunday 😀 thanks Chris & Sue.

Nice pub, lovely staff, food was good too. Great sharing starter of nachos, would definately recommend trying them if they're on the menu.

The food was shocking for the price we paid. I paid £17 for a burger and have received better quality meat at school dinners. My mother in law ordered a meal that had to be returned 3 times due to mistakes. 4.3 is not a fair indicator of this food quality.

First time at this pub. The barmaid was very approachable and friendly. Unfortunately we couldn’t bring our dogs in but we could have sat outside on the benches. It was a little chilly so we took the dogs home and decided to try the carvery. Baring in mind it was ten minutes before the carvery ended, so perhaps it wasn’t the best timing for optimal food condition. There was plenty of choice, sadly the roast potatoes were way overdone. Rock hard exterior and hardly any interior potatoe so just passed their best. The stuffing was shop bought paxo type, not homemade. Same with the Yorkshire puddings, shop bought not homemade. It was a shame the roast potatoes, stuffing and yorkies were below par as it’s these things that can elevate a roast dinner.I have a feeling the beef isn’t roasted on site and is cooked elsewhere and just heated up onsite. However, if you want a big plateful of food that’s perfectly edible then this is the place. They have a good selection of puddings and my Son loved his ice cream sundae. This pub is great for a budget meal out. The portions are great and staff are welcoming. The roast was only £13 each, so you can’t expect a gastro extravaganza for that price point. Cheap, cheerful and a great place to bring the kids.

Was looking forward to carvery today but, disappointed, Plates cold,mash was powdered,roasts had been hanging about so long couldn't cut them,same for Yorkshires sprouts like marbles,no one asked if the meal was ok please bring back the old chief It's the chief that came back,last year not sure if name

Came mother's day.... Disappointed that the mash potato was made with powder potato.... Could taste the powder in every bite... And the pizzas in the kids menu were microwave ones.... To think its £14.95 for a carvery... Disapointing. No taste no seasoning on nothing cooked

A fantastic stopover in our motorhome, fantastic staff and wonderful food

Called in Sunday 6th Oct as been to Red Wharf Bay and we were driving back to the flat we were staying in we had no booking for the carvery and they fitted us in. Only doing cavery and kids meals. Choice Meats on offer beef , gammon , turkey, loads of vegetables only downside instant mash and defo not home made yorkshires unsure if a one off or always on , but still lovely nevertheless , cost for the 2 of us including drinks £42.

The service was excellent, the food was so lovely, we had the Sunday carvery

The only go to place on Anglesey for a good old fashioned Sunday dinner.

The food was good, very generous portions (a little too generous). The staff were amazing, especially the lady on the cavery counter..who on e she saw that I had my grandson with me, she helped him personally and allowed myself and the rest of our party to fetch ours. What a lovely kind gesture Da iawn!!! When I thanked her she replied that she wanted us all to enjoy our meal together. She was an absolute delight Thank you

Nice place for a social drink although it’s hit and miss knowing when it’s open.

Fantastic food priced good service well worth a visit

Stayed overnight at a local camp site and went here last night for the carvery. We were not disappointed. Food was hot and delicious and the new landlady was very friendly. The interior of the pub is a little dated but with a lick of paint it will be amazing.

A Cosy local pub it has a lovely homely atmosphere. The food is constantly good & the staff are attentive.

When we arrived at 7.30 (4 of us) on a busy Tuesday night, thinking we wouldn't get a table Val the owner got us a table promptly, 2 of us had a carvery, I had a Lasagne and partner had ham, egg and chips all dishes were all 10 out of 10. We have been here a few times and all occasions food is always spot on. Lovely friendly staff, will be back soon.

Very nice food and pleasant staff. I was in again on Monday for a carvery, the young lady who served me was lovely, very pleasant and nice to chat to.

Great site. Stopped over for a night with our campervan. We ve been warmly welcomed by the female bartender and had a delicious dinner here. Will visit again once we re in this aera of Wales. Thank you Bull Inn staff👍🙏

Had a lovely motorhome stopover here last night. The bar staff were lovely and attentive and happy for us to park up overnight. Had the most amazing carvery dinner which went down a treat. Highly recommend

Did a motorhome stopover after disembarking the Irish ferry and could not have found better,the welcome was warm with a good selection of drinks and the carvery was simply sublime and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend 👌.

Just been for a carvery lunch what can I say recently taken over by the lovely Val and her staff best carvery ever and excited to see what the future holds for the Bull in your more than capable hands x

Good food and well priced, didn't go inside as we had our dog with us so we ate outside. Outside seating area needs a revamp if it wants to compete with other similar pubs in close proximity. Have since spoken with the new owner about how the outside area can be improved, I can still give here a positive review even as it is, new owners are lovely and looking into my original review

Absolutely wonderful place, staff and food.

I never get beef at a carvery as it is often dry but the chef recommended and I was not disappointed. The beef was tender and juicy falling apart easily. The gammon was excellent, reminiscent of bacon ribs. All of the vegetables were great. The only small point I would make is providing roasted parsnips as they are difficult to get right at home so they should be a staple at a carvery. Although that is just my opinion. Would highly recommend this pub.

Went here a couple times while I was away on holiday carvery is one of the best I've had, the fudge cake for dessert was really chocolatey and the gammon and chips were cooked perfect.

Travel 45 minutes to come for our guilty pleasure carvery. Always delicious but last Sunday was the best ever. It was so busy & couldn't fault anything. Very friendly staff, always get a good welcome. Well done everyone!

Had a carvery at the bull pentraeth it was a very poor meal the plates were stone cold and the meal it's self was just Luke warm before it changed hand it must have been the best place on Ynys Mon for a Sunday carvery perhaps the staff need some training from the previous owner that plates should be hot plus the food best part of the meal was the meat don't think l will call there again

Lovely surprise to find such good food at this pub. It was really busy and had a great atmosphere.

Food was alright. Had their carvery, and parts of the meat and veg was overcooked to the point you couldn't even chew it. Service was effectively non-existent once the food was served.

Staff not engaging. Food very average..staff did not visit to see if food was OK.. My wife's Gammon was in her words the worst ever!. Tables not cleared and staff in back room obvious to us leaving. Under new management ! Hope it get better .

Came for the carvery, was extremely busy so expected it to be great food. Unfortunately it was the worst Sunday dinner I’ve ever eaten. Meat was dry, mushy veg, except for the potato & sweed which was rock solid. Absolutely gutted we wasted £60 for 2 adults & a child.

Went in a big group and booked in advance. Half wanted carvery half wanted off the standard menu. The half who ordered off the menu waited 40 mins before finding out the food still wasn't ready.... When asked where it was they said 10 mins. By the time it'd been an hour we were truly fed up, the whole point was to have a meal as a family. The kids hadn't eaten. What's especially annoying is we're local, had said how good it is for food and showing it off to friends visiting from down south. They ended up asking for a refund but they only got a refund for their food no other compensation. Very disappointed won't suggest it again. Considering tourism is very much needed on the island it's embarrassing they were treating paying customers in such a way. Won't be going back we ended up taking everyone to McDonald's as the poor kids were starving! Also to add our bad luck we took the kids to the park whilst we figured out where to go for food at 4:30 on a Sunday, and one of the kids stood in dog poo. Clearly sign posted no dogs in the park area, but one was rather faded, surely staff should check the area regularly.

I called in today to have the carvery. I stood and waited at the bar where the young girl was. I am not sure if she was looking at her phone she did not look at me I waited and waited then decided to walk out! Shame as I have not had this problem before

Visited with my family on Sunday for the carvery. Place was busy and those behind the bar done well to serve everyone in a timely manner. Food was edible, but place lacked atmosphere. Won’t rush back.

Good Food - After a day at the beach we wanted to stay local for some lunch. Food was decent and very welcome. Not sure if I would say it is a gastro pub though? Menu had a good selection of classic pub dishes A nice, quiet and cosy place to have a rest and recharge. Enjoyed the meal and would come again.

Me and my husband went for tea tonight . The lady that served us with the blonde hair was so lovely and friendly 😊. The food was absolutely lovely to. We will definitely be going back here.

No complaints. Foods decent. Bar staff are nice. Good place to kill a couple of hours between sheep and Beaches.

Stayed locally and enjoyed the pub and carvery. The pub was pretty basic and a little old fashioned but the food was pretty good, a choice of beef, turkey or gammon or I think you could a bit of both. Lots of veg choices and roast or mash and to be honest for a good honest carvery it was really good. Would definitely recommend visiting if in the area. The staff and chef were very friendly.

We went on Saturday 10th feb 2024 about 12:45 we had the small carvery (£9.99) and found it very tasty with plenty of meat and the vegetables were cooked nicely with a little crunch and lots of flavour also the julienne carrots were nice addition. We were first in for the lunch time and it was very quiet. Toilets were very clean and close to dining area.

Food was amazing and so was the girl serving the carvery. We accidentally ordered ‘two carvery’s’ instead of just vegetable carvery’s. The total was £27.90 for the food. The barmaid didn’t offer us a refund when we asked about the prices. She said it would have been cheaper if we had ordered the just vegetable carvery’s and to know for next time. Otherwise, excellent.

At last a proper carvery. The meat is sublime and the veg was very tasty. i will be coming back again. loads of parking at rear.

One thing that needs stating straight off is that despite it's listing this is NOT a gastro pub. It's the type of pub you'd find on a housing estate, it's not a traditional inn with an atmosphere, it's just a pub that serves food including scampi & chips and pie & chips, no hint of 'gastro' in the slightest. 3 different experiences with our party - 1) carvery was enjoyed, though portion was quite small and the food only just tepid 2) jacket potato was ok but extremely small with the side salad far bigger than the potato & latte was cold 3) vegan lasagne was merely a tomato sauce with just one layer of pasta and was only 1cm deep so I ended up starving after eating. Another niggle was that there was no ale, just the usual selection of lagers and bitter on tap. Place was clean and tidy and staff were polite. On the whole though we were disappointed.

Called in ( have been before) freezing cold ...no heating on : mentioned to staff : was ignored ......my plaice inedible :just deep fried to a cinder ??? !! Why deep fry plaice ??? Wine is ridiculous dear prices

Food was mediocre, saw some people leaving saying "worst meal ever'. Strange as the place was super busy.

Such a wonderful cosy pub with the friendliest staff. Really excellent food & huge portion sizes. Was enjoyed by all including our 10 month old daughter! Would definitely return.

Just outside Benllech, where we were staying but definitely worth a short drive. The staff were brilliant and the food was good value for money. We will be visiting again on our next break in Anglesey.

Sorry but this pub is not worth stopping at. It caters mainly for the caravan park residents. The tables were squashed together and slot machines were too close to the tables. The noise was too load and the food was not very good. It was fairly expensive too although the advert outside said different but that was children's meal prices..

Just excellent. Sunday Carvery is superb (and justifiably costs a couple of quid more than the non-Sunday carvery). Good menu six nights a week (on Sunday, it is carvery only). Excellent with good beers and drinks. We shall return. 10SEP2023

The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful. Easy to book a table too.

Came in with some severe allergies. Chef was beyond accomodating and made something off menu that we could eat. The on menu food was great too!!

The reviews for this pub were a bit hit and miss so we thought we'd give it a go seeing as we were staying nearby. It was actually better than we were expecting and also busier. Lots of tables were reserved. We decided on the carvery and really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and the surroundings, although a little dated, were clean and tidy. I didn't use the loo so can't comment on those. Overall better than expected.

We enjoyed an excellent lasagne however there was no cask ale on sale so I had to make do with Guinness. Great place for a quick bite to eat and the stall were friendly and helpful but wouldn't be my goto place for a jolly good drink with friends.
