Four Crosses Inn in Isle of Anglesey

First time here and felt right at home. Beautiful interior with stone wall features. The food was very well prepared and considering how busy it was, it still came out piping hot. If my Mother was still alive she would be very impressed.as she told me food should always be served piping hot, bless her. I highly recommend this pub and would definitely go back again now I've had a taster. This gets full stars from the Looks, how friendly the staff were including asking if my food was ok and the atmosphere. Well worth stopping if passing by 10/10.

Lovely location, great atmosphere but pricey. Where I would expect to pay £15 things are £19 and a mixed grill is £34 which I thought was expensive. The atmosphere is lovely, staff are friendly and the views across to snowdonia are incredible on a clear day. Lovely beer garden and we will be back but only on the odd occasions.

Last min Sunday dinner plans and oh my gosh it was so nice and very tasty 😋 the beef was so good 👍 It Could have been a bit hotter and they could have asked if we wanted any condiments but still I would definitely recommend.

We’re local and have visited a couple of times since the re-furb (for the first time in 7 years!) The pub is nicely spruced-up, with an inviting outdoor space. The service is friendly and efficient, to a point. We weren’t asked how our food was and when we gave feedback when settling the bill, the young woman dismissed what we said by assuring us that no other customers shared our view! The food is standard pub fare but the chips are appalling. Surely, a pub should be able to serve a decent, proper chip that has the taste and texture of potato? The ‘chips’ here are frozen potato products in the shape of scoops. I don’t recommend.

We had seen on Facebook that this Pub had had a re vamp so we stopped off for a drink. There is good parking at the front and rear of the pub. The decor is lovely, well set out and very cosy. There were quite a few staff and all of them were friendly. Highly recommended.

First visit since the reopening after major refurbishment in March ‘24. Two cask ales on - the Citra Pale was pretty decent. Dining options on a Sunday are the various roasts (no starters) - fast, friendly, efficient service. The refurb has made the dining area more spacious and there must be at least 25 tables in the beer garden at the front which has meant free parking is predominantly at the rear now.

Service was bad. I do not know whether it was because I was alone, but after being shown to my table I sat waiting for someone to take my order for 20 minutes. After this time, I was only served after I managed to catch a waiters eye and ask when my order would ne taken. Whilst I agree that portion sizes are large (possibly too much so) and the meal was very hot, the total bill for one person was over £41. I knew the cost of the food I had ordered which was to my mind overpriced but was happy to pay that - what was a shock was the cost of two bottles of Coca Cola - £8 (£4 each). This is much more per pint than any beer on sake here and seems to be pure profiteering. I am unable to drink diet versions of most soft drinks as I am allergic to the sweeteners used. These were available on draft.

We visited as a family of 9 on Sunday for the most fabulous Roast dinner and pudding, returning today as a family of 4 (& our over-friendly Labrador) for lunch. The food is amazing and the staff were so lovely and friendly on both occasions, I’d definitely recommend a visit.

Popped in on a Friday afternoon during our holiday, I've been before many years ago and didn't have the best experience, thankfully it was very different today. Service was friendly and helpful, menu was great and food was spot on. Enjoyed it a lot.

Food was warm corn burnt chips cold Won't go back £4 for a diet coke.

First visit after newly refurbished, it's absolutely stunning inside. Family of 8 , the service was over and beyond , lovely efficient ,caring, jolly staff. The food was faultless, well priced,beautifully presented ,quick arrival considering 8 of us and it was busy. 8 meals , 8 soft drinks ,2 coffee £161..excellent value. Great job everyone 👊😊

19 of use were here tonight Wednesday 27th March 2024. I had the panfried chicken oh it was absolutely delicious. The service was amazing. We will most definitely be coming here again soon. Thank you so much for making our evening so enjoyable. PS. We were the gender reveal party.

Just had delicious Sunday Roasts here. Desserts loked lovely but no room for one!! Really enjoyable and lovely staff.

The food is excellent, the service prompt, the staff are always really friendly and welcoming and there's always a nice buzz about the place. My favourite local 👌

With the place just having a full refurbishment the pub hasn't lost it's character but looks fresh and inviting. We as a party of 6 where seated and drinks taken straight away. We placed order for starters and mains and didn't wait long for food to arrive. When we finished the mains 3 of us just had enough room for dissert and didn't have to wait long for that. Definitely highly recommend as the food was amazing, portion size was very generous and the service was excellent. If you've got any dietary requirements they are happy to cater for you if possible. Will I go again YES. Will I recommend YES.

Staff where nice but food was awful unfortunately

No greeting at the door. Totally ignored for 20 minutes. Allowed other customers who came in after us who shoved one of our party out the way. When we asked the barmaid for a menu, the reaction I was given, you’d have thought I’d have asked her for her bank pin. Saw us sat at a table and came over 30 minutes later to say the table was for drinkers only. Awful service. 1* is generous.

We all enjoyed very good food, served by friendly, professional staff. Good atmosphere. Clean, well maintained rooms/ toilets. Plenty of parking space. Well worth a visit.

Ordered ham egg & chips which was cold , ordered 2 well done steaks & when they arrived they were cold & they had blood running from them. They apologised took them away & brought us new ones which were burnt & hard . We ate what we could paid the bill which came to £96 . I just wanted to get out of there . We will not be returning as we feel we might as well have thrown the £96 down the drain.

Had a pleasant evening with a very tasty meal. There's a relaxed atmosphere here. Menu choice is fairly small but I wouldn't complain about it as the food was excellent. Reasonably priced too. Will probably go back.

My bday treat from my husband today, Had to sit nr carpark door so bit chilly but meal was the best, lamb shank pie ,chips,peas,so worth getting with mint lamb gravy, the Eton mess was delicious for bday celebration! Lots of choice on special and on regular menu .

Very expensive for our budget but we had fun! The food was delicious and we will be eating here again very soon :)

The Four Crosses is an older pub which has maintained the old character within. It is easily accessed from the A55 and there is plenty of parking at the front and back. The menu is varied with options for allergies and vegetarians. For this visit I chose a cibatta with barbecued pulled pork. The fries and salad were part of the dish which cost £10.95. Our party also had prawns in mayonnaise and all sandwiches were fresh and tasty. Despite a good range of ales I had the latte on this occasion. The pub was starting to get busy with a lot of local people which is always a good sign. Prices were comparable with other pubs but the taste and presentation made this sandwich stand out. With excellent service too we will return

I have only ever been to this particular place 3 or 4 times in the 35 years that I have in N Wales. I have been disappointed every time. Dreary, unwelcoming and cold which when added to sticky, yucky tables, slow service just adds up to a 'let's go somewhere, anywhere else' desire. I was persuaded to stay for a cup of tea, which was OK, and the Menu was just not tempting enough to withstand the sticky yucky tabletop.. from using a cleaner that deteriorates the varnish...sit in the cold, dreary interior..even though it was a dreadful day outside, no welcoming fires, so, we left.

Nice local pub. Took relatives there for lunch and they enjoyed everything from the menu. Will definitely be going there again when in the area.

Food was ok for a pub, but not amazing. The choice of beer is poor. The staff is nice. Very hot inside. Not for a special occasion.

Great food, just let down by poor service.. (waiting too long at the bar for initial drinks, and the reorder didn't even arrive as we ready to leave.... the barman did apologise, but it would have been nice to have had the original drink with our food) The good news is we will be back....

Fabulous Sunday Lamb Roast. Came across Four Crosses Inn by luck, we were seated by the window and the service was friendly and welcoming. £19.95 for a lamb shank roast dinner, good value and plenty of vegetables and gravy. Highly recommended and will return when we go to Anglesey again.

We stayed in the pub car park overnight. Our motorhome is 6.5 metres and fits comfortably in the parking spot. Ideal for campervans but large vans will struggle. Ideal town of Menai nearby and located on the beautiful Island of Anglesey.

Staff were brilliant at the start of our visit by managing to squeeze us in when they had lots of reservations. They were quick to take our orders and the food came out relatively quickly. The pulled pork on the burger was good, but the burger itself was slightly overcooked. Fish and chips were very good and the batter nice and crispy. The crispy beef special was not one to be missed, but seemed smaller than the other meals. Desserts were fine. The only problem that I have is that when we ordered a drink with desserts it never came. We did pay for it, as we didn't properly check our bill before paying but that is our fault for not checking sooner.

Lovely pub with great staff but best to book if you want to eat

Called in on this last Bank Holiday Monday, seen recommended on Pubstopovers for Motorhomes. The pub was full with most dining, asked at the bar to check if OK to park overnight and they confirmed yes, friendly staff found a table for my wife n I & small dog, took the order, served drinks to table & advised short wait 15mins ish for food. Cracking food, fairly priced friendly staff and a safe stopover. We will certainly return on our next trip to complete our tour of Anglesey. Service very poor, had to wait over an hour for our food. Very pleasant waitresses but stood talking by the bar instead of clearing our plates. Scampi was overcooked and chips were awful tasted as if they had been reheated.

Had a great meal at the Four Crosses Inn and a couple of beers very nice indeed. We recommend a visit and it's a free camper van stop over If you have a meal. Very near Snowdon and the longest named town. A great stop off on the trip around Wales.….. A+

Food was great but staff need to be way more attentive as they have lost out on £28 worth of dessert orders because they could not pay attention enough to ask if we wanted desserts. Also unfriendly and closed off when clearing our table and when we asked for the bill. Its a shame because the food was great :( Also £4 for a Pepsi max!?!?!?

Perfect steak, good service, what more do you need

We have been staying down the road on a holiday with our parents and our little one. Myself and my wife took the offer of my parents babysitting to head out for something to eat this evening and chose to come here. I'm glad we did, the food was excellent and the service was great through out. I opted for the Sirloin steak (medium) and my wife had the home made Chicken Madras from the specials menu. Both the portion sizes were extremely generous and the food was really tasty. My steak cooked perfectly and my wife's curry was delicious. Our plates were collected promptly after finishing our mains and we were offered the dessert menu, we both obliged and I went for a bannoffee sundae and my wife the apple pie and ice cream. Again portion sizes great all made with fresh ingredients and extremely tasty. After we'd finished we went to the bar and settled the bill and were greeted again by another bubbly and polite member of staff, who asked how everything had been. "Fantastic" was our response. Sadly we live in Suffolk so it's a bit of a hike to come visit regularly, but for anyone who is holidaying or who lives nearby I would highly recommend a visit. It's a fantastic independently run pub which serves great food. Places like this deserve plenty of support and custom. The value for money is brilliant for what is here. Far better than any chain pub/eatery

Let's start with the positives. The location is good, with views over Eryri. There is an ample car park. Apparently the lamb was tasty. Negatives: No atmosphere. We were seated in the direct line of the wind whistling through the open door, which felt like it had previously been whistling round the peak of Yr Wyddfa. My burger was raw in the middle...twice. Now, I know rare burgers are a thing in some places, but if you do intend to serve them, it would be good if you made it clear on the menu so folks can make an informed decision. Having returned my first burger, I then had to wait twenty minutes for the second, during which time the other members of my party had eaten their food, leaving me to eat what I could of the second burger (nibbling the very edges which were most definitely cooked, if you catch my drift) on my own. Overall, not a very satisfactory experience.

Arrived at 1630 on a Friday. Car park less than half full. Walked inside and there was a family of 5 eating at the table in front of the door. Every other table I could see said reserved. Asked girl who came over for a table for 7. She said that they were not serving food at the moment! So I presumably have to ignore the family clearly eating, and the sign in the car park that says "Food served all day"? It infuriates me when servers decide to turn away customers. Or about £90 in my case. Don't waste your time.

Lovely food atmosphere a great place service with a smile

The first time we visited, we were sat on the left side of the bar, on a great table, served lovely food and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We enjoyed it so much that we visited the next day and were sat over on the right, in a smaller room, next to the exit/entrance to the side room and close to the back door. This time, the service felt quite rushed and the atmosphere was definitely not the same. There was a table of women who were rather loud, to the point where we could barely hear the waitress or each other. I understand that obviously the clientele has nothing to do with the establishment nor staff, but I'd highly recommend booking in advance and asking to be seated on the left side of the bar, rather than the smaller side room to the right, as we felt slightly in the way (having to move our dog when anyone walked to or from the bar) and it felt like we were in Central station, rather than a nice countryside pub (which is how we thought of it after the first visit).

Looks lovely from the outside,but a bit dirty inside and our table wasn't even wiped. The food was very greasy and quite basic.

Have visited for the last 12 years whilst on holiday. Checked the website for Sunday opening hours it stated 11.00 to 23.00. We walked up from the town arriving at 6.10pm only to be told that the kitchen closed at 6pm. We questioned the website and was told that they are under new management and it's not been updated. On checking it looks like takeover was upto 6 months ago. How long does it take to update your most common search tool?

Very good lunch. Extensive menu and good selection of ales. A good stopping point if you are about to explore Anglesey. 4 miles from there is Hootons PYO (pick your own) farm where we today picked a kilo of strawberries, a 1/2 kilo of gooseberry and blackcurrants. A fun afternoon as everyone also ate a half kilo of fruit while picking.

Just ate here again and have to give props. Both of us had fish & chips and was well worth it - though batter not as crispy as I'd like but that's more of a me thing. Dog friendly (wood floor area only). Rescinded previous review on not serving all day & not open on a Sun BH eve (though the 'food all day' sign or booking required notices online should still be looked into).

Father's day Sunday lunch service. We were always attended to by the waitresses. Only giving 4 stars as I found the beef too dry and i was unable to finish my plate. Also a very limited choice for dessert which left me leaving still very hungry.
