Brundall Chip Shop in Broadland

Waited about 20 minutes to get a portion of fish and chips this evening. I've recently moved back to the area having lived in Brundall as a teenager. The fish and chips here used to be excellent. I'm guessing it's changed hands as the shop looked dilapidated, signs for cash only everywhere which just looked tacky and crass and after the long wait the fish was burned, as in the batter was black on the outside, I've never seen that before in my life. I even worked in a chippy for years as a teenager and never once saw burnt batter. That's my first and last trip in a long time I think.

Lovely friendly staff. Food cooked fresh while you wait.. I would recommend anyone to go there. Xx

Great Fish & Chips and a good service. I would have to vote it the best Takeaway in Brundall as the Indian and Chinese takeaways are very poor.

I bought absolutely excellent food tonight. The large plaice and cod were cooked to perfection and the portions were the best l have seen for ages and such good value. The regular portion of chips was enough to share. I have experienced some poor quality fish and chips in many areas of England in recent months, I would like to take this opportunity to thoroughly praise Brundall Fish and Chip shop for high quality food and excellent customer service.

Got there just before closing time (seems a tad early but maybe there's no great demand later) Ordered 2 cod and small portion of chips. Cooked to order. Very good portions of cod, beautifully cooked in a lovely batter. We really enjoyed the meal.

Great Fish & Chip shop. Normally pop in to pick up fish & chips as we start our holidays in Brundall. Staff are friendly and waiting outside to have our orders fulfilled since Covid, is a little off putting especially if it is raining. Cash only !

From a regular weekly customer- can’t speak too highly of the excellent fish and chips you serve - despite rising costs, you continue to deliver as economic meal as possible. We've very rarely used Brundall chip shop since living here for 12 years. We had 2 bad experiences within the first couple of years of moving here, but thought we'd give it a go recently. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Chips were not nice, sausages were small and must of been sat there for hours, and the cod was tiny, with some of the strangest thin soft batter (if you can call it that) I've ever seen. And it tasted of, well, nothing!? The place itself looks tired and rundown, and could seriously do with a makeover. We won't be returning.

Arrived at 11.35 googled a chip shop Brundall chippyce up OPEN AT 12PM so waited around,, arrived at 12.05pm looking forward tofish and chips... says open 12.30pm.. So can't review food... omg u need to update your opening times on Google! Its very late opening !! Chippies near me open 11.30am and 11.45am Oh well nevermind

Being closed Sunday, Monday and Wednesday is odd. Queuing outside in all weathers and cash only is ridiculous in this day and age. As is opening for a couple of hours here and there on the days it is open. Either it needs to close and let someone who wants to run a chip shop open, or a complete and utter makeover. Currently, not worth the effort, even if it is local.

Always pop into this Fish & Chip shop when on holidays in Brundall. Lovely cooked fish and lots of chips, Staff are excellent.

I can’t understand now why the strict covid restrictions are still in place making you order outside and stay outside in the cold for food to be cooked . On getting home all food hot and chips were good , 2 large fish I think not the size of the fish is what you would expect from a supermarket frozen fish . Batter very greasy and falling off fish , not crispy at all . Fish size was about 7inch long and were very very thin tail ends . It was more like a flat fish like place . I realise prices have gone up and I don’t mind paying for what I have but must do better to gain new return custom. It cost me £19.30 for 2 large cod fish 1 large chips ,1 small chips and 1 fish cake . I will retry if passing but better out there in the local areas of Blofield , Lingwood and brundall.

Have used this Fish & Chip shop for several years now. The cod and chips servings were always cooked to perfection Alas today we were served overcooked fish such that the batter was dark brown and the fish was not cod as ordered but some tasteless flat fish of unknown species. Plus the chips were undercooked. Pale and greasy. Terrible take on. Completely inedible and a waste of money. Owners need to be aware that they canot get away with selling you something which is not as ordered but still charge the same price.

We really enjoyed some quality fish 'n' chips on our visit. Cooked to order, very tasty. Recommended!

Absolutely disgusting, worst fish and chips i have ever eaten in 55 years don’t bother go on a diet.

We were unlucky about half an hour before closing. Soggy batter and soggy chips stuck to wrapping. Not very warm

We've never had better fish and chips anywhere - and I am over 65! The fish, haddock, was absolutely superb and the chips gorgeous. This is fish and chips how you always dream it will be. Staff are lovely too. Thank you for a memorable experience. I hope to be back many times!

Excellent food cooked order. Ordered and paid for in advance at table in doorway. Excellent value. We were awash with chips.

We called for a takeaway on our way back to the houseboat. We had one large and one ordinary cod. To be realistic the normal size fish was far bigger than you get at most fish and chip shops. The large one was really big! Both were well cooked with crisp batter and tasty.

Really good value for money and perfectly cooked. A small cod and chips for £6 but tbh they'd pass as medium to large in many places. The only criticism is that they don't do savaloys!

Just visited this chippie for the first time. It doesn't look much from the outside, but really fast and friendly service, and tasty cod and chips at a reasonable price. Yum

Excellent, fresh, high quality fish and chips from a family ran chip shop. Shirley, her family and staff are always very welcoming and I’ve never had any complaints. Good vegetarian options and separate fryer for gluten free. Been going there 10 years so I would highly recommend.

We had sausages that had been reheated. Sorry but don't rate wouldn't go again

I'm Gluten and Dairy Intolerant and they can do FREE FROM CHIPS as they have a seperate fryer for chips only! Good to know havn't found another that does in the area.

As a vegetarian I often buy chips here. They offer veggie alternatives and have a separate fryer for these. Staff are friendly.

Called in this evening at 7.15 pm and was told they only have 2 pieces of fish and 3 sausages left. I politely said I’ll have just chips as I said the sausages looked like they had been out for to long. ( didn’t look very appealing ). She then asked me to repeat what I said which I did. Her reply was NO COMMENT. I would have liked a answer of sorry it’s because we are closing soon or sorry sir would you like me to cook another. No comment is a way of passing on being rude to a customer.

Consistently good fish and chips. Nicely cooked, always hot and served by a friendly team. Always very busy on a Friday!

We used this chippy today at lunchtime to avoid a hangry family when we found Blofield chippy closed for the day. We found the service quick and the food of good quality. The fish and chips were a nice sized portion, batter was tasty and not overly greasy. Would happily use them again.

Small village chippy so only open limited hours, many times arrived to find it closed, made a note of the opening times now,Well worth the wait, very polite guy behind the counter, nothing was beyond our request, we even said if the service was anything to go by the food can be average, but it was far from it, Good size portions, well cooked, not soggy as some of the other reviews mention, tasty and plentiful,Good value, will be returning,

Tried to catch this place open several times and finally managed it.Sadly disappointed.It’s probably been used to Yorkshire fish and chips,found the batter very poor, chips a bit cold and claggy. Fish quality was good and a decent size, price wise a bit over priced.

Good food, pleasant staff and great prices

Tried the chippy in Brundall about six weeks ago with some trepidation due to the mixed reviews, however my experience was positive. The cod was freshly cooked, thick and with big white flakes of fish. The batter was just right, neither too thick or thin and the chips were nice and fluffy inside. We will be back in the area in early February and will try the establishment again, hoping that the first experience was the usual standard.

This has to be the worst chip shop in Norfolk, the chips and fish disgusting. And not to mention the order being wrong, no pineapple fritters! Never again, sorry.....

A good choice, decent prices, good service. Must remember this is a small village chippy and only open part weekly.

So bad. Chips tasted of nothing with a disgusting texture to boot and everything else appeared to have been cooked in old fat. Really rough.

Nearly didn’t go to this fish & chip shop because of the negative reviews but glad we did! Staying for a weekend break and thought we would have fish & chips, we are lucky to have a fab shop near our home so are quite fussy! Massive portion, the fish was lovely. Would really recommend. ☺️

El pez no busques mejor de hecho yo iría tan lejos como para decir que al menos ayer, y puede ser comprado en cuanto a compras en forma formalmente Terminamos con patatas fritas, que eran apenas comestible por el precio de £1. 15, que es muy barato. ! !

went for fish and chips found sometimes fish ok other times dry 3 weeks on the trot threw chips away as not edible like rubber take a lot of chewing so I don't go there any more. tried acle they gone the same way now tonight 24 march 2017 fish good but dinner spoilt as chips like rubber. got to find another chippy.cos don't like inedible food. waste of money

Patatas fritas grandes. . Es una carcajada, apenas suficiente para uno. Periódicamente me probar este "fish and chips", en ocasiones no está mal, aunque a menudo no más. Para terminar de impago Lingwood que es mucho más fiable.

Unless you like standing in a que for nearly an hour watching three headless chickens trying to run a chip shop you need to give this place a big miss. At one point they had taken 18 orders without serving one, and than manage to cock up the order they had taken them in and even forgot some orders all together. never again.

Perfectamente chips en una ciudad bien bien para comprar en si o visitar la zona. Estaba muy ocupado en un viernes a las 7 pm. El pescado y patatas fritas eran buenas y un precio razonable. La tienda estaba muy limpio. Pequeño aparcamiento por la carretera para más facil aparcar, pero se podía perder.

They did not have the Rock Eel that I wanted but the cod was really nice. Chips were perfect. This was a nice tea and the price was very reasonable too.

Tasteless fish and a mountain of bland chips, worst part is they also use hydrogenated vegetable oil for their frying, this stuff is hideous and full of trans fats.

Comida muy sabrosa con servicio rápido y eficaz a un precio muy razonable, con fácil aparcamiento. Las mejores patatas fritas que he tenido en mi vida para ser sincero y he estado en unos cuantos chiipies alrededor del país.

The foot long sausage I had was amazing. Cooked with expert hands of shelly. Great chips and great people. Definately recommend this chippy.

Had a good fish supper. Nice chips and a very good piece of cod. Friendly staff. Only open till 1930 so you have to be c quick but worth it

Fantastic chips and great service

This is a good quality fish and chip shop on the main street in Brundall, close to the railway station. We were served quickly and the food (cod and chips twice) was good quality. The fish had light batter that was not too thick and the chips were good too. Together they were about £9 which I thought is good value as portions were generous, especially the chips.
