Food was amazing service fell a bit flat towards the end would have easily stayed and had a couple of drinks no one came near us after we finished the cheese boards for about 20 minutes didn’t asked if we would like anything else just left us sitting there so after another 10 minutes we asked for the bill and left. Sorry end to what was an amazing evening food wise

Forget the hype. Maitre D' ... forget it. Want to be ignored - this is the place. 2 glasses of mediocre champagne @ £18.00 each. A component of the main course was goats cheese - the chef forgot it we choose matching wines with each course - one was to be a Rose Anjou ... ups forgot that the other a Chablis @ £16.00 a glass .. mistaken identity this was a poor chablis. Total bill almost £250.00 for two. Never blame the staff- if they are not trained they will not know how to serve as is the case in Browns of Waterside.

Delicious food and great service - a must visit in Derry!

Went on a Tuesday evening for the foodie menu which was fantastic value. The menu has a great variety of dishes and everything was cooked perfectly. Service was fast, efficient and the staff really friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend to anyone

Went for a couple of meals here. Staff are excellent, there if you need but not intrusive. The food is the best in Derry and by a bit of a distance. Not even that much more expensive than the run of the mill restaurants in the town.

Just left after an excellent Father’s Day Dinner. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. All the food was so tasty, from starters to main courses to desserts.

It's taken me a while to write this review as it was quite a painful experience but after reflecting on it with my partner and our families we agreed it was necessary. My partner and I traveled to NI for our wedding weekend with our closest friends and family who were flying in from all over the world. Because of covid the majority of our family members hadn't been able to meet in the past four years and we wanted to have an intimate dinner with our direct families before the wedding festivities kicked off. This being a destination wedding, we were completely reliant on researching restaurants in the area and trusting reviews and guides. This restaurant came highly recommended. It wasn't Michelin-starred but it seemed to offer a menu of a high standard similar to what we would find at a decent London restaurant, where we are based. At the outset we were told that we would have go to dinner at 17:00 and leave by 19:00 as they couldn't accommodate our party at a later time. We accepted this policy, it's fairly standard when restaurants are busy. However, we arrived at 17:00 and the restaurant was empty. Many of our family members were late because they had been flying into Belfast that day, there were torrential storms, and it was a bank holiday weekend so they were held up. Once everyone had arrived we had lost about 30 minutes of our time. Now, if the restaurant had been filling up considerably between 17:00-19:00 I would have understood the rush to get us out the door. However, by the time 19:00 rolled round 3/4 of the restaurant was still empty! Because we had lost so much time in waiting for everyone to arrive we had rushed through dinner and didn't have time for dessert because the server couldn't wait to push us out the door. This was so odd given the fact that there clearly wasn't another large party waiting for our table and even if there had been, the restaurant had so many empty tables we could have easily been accommodated so that we could finish our first ever meal together as a family. The atmosphere was one of disdain and contempt. From the very beginning our server was cold, rude, couldn't be bothered to introduce himself, gave short and blunt answers, and did absolutely nothing to make us feel welcome at this establishment. To this day, none of us have quite figured out if it was because we were foreigners, or because our party hadn't all arrived at exactly 17:00, or a combination of both, perhaps. We were a party of 11 people and every single person felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. It didn't matter what the food tasted like in the end, all that remains is the memory of how we all felt during our dining experience. My partner and I have dined in three Michelin starred restaurants in London and at local pubs and bars all around the UK, where servers and staff would go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, welcome and accommodated no matter whether it be a fine dining or casual dining experience. Needless to say we won't be back and I'm sad that we didn't have the positive experience other reviewers had. Especially since it was such a special occasion. I don't recommend this restaurant for special occasions or memory-making events.

Stunning modern Irish cuisine served in a comfortable restaurant. This landmark Derry restaurant offers early bird menus that are great value for such exemplary food.

Visiting from the US... excellent food and a very nice presentation. Pastry chef created some very nice desserts. The whole experience was great.

Visited with a family member for lunch during the jazz festival. TLDR: highly recommend. It was easy to find and correct location on Google maps and exterior clean. The second door to open was extremely squeaky, which I felt slightly spoiled the otherwise mostly nice atmosphere but something easily fixed! The table was spacious but there were some crumbs on one of the seats. There were few customers in which was somewhat disappointing to see given current hospitality situation but the speed of service was great! We had bread complimentary of the kitchen and the Guinness treacle bread was heavenly, so soft and sweet, almost addictive! I had looked at the menu online and was keen to try the miso monkfish, however, menus seemed to have just been changed which was disappointing but I enjoyed the potato gnocchi option very much. Sophisticatedly plated with nice flavours and was quite filling. I think most NI businesses aren’t great at having their website reflect their menu though but again, an easy fix for those of us that like to choose ahead of time! The waitress was also very attentive, however, midway through our time, she was off shift and the new male waiter wasn’t as attentive despite the few customers but was still friendly. Dessert, always my favourite course, was impeccable. Perfectly piped decoration with wonderful flavours, the treacle ice cream was divine. My only other slight gripes was, I think, the music being blasted from the kitchen which I felt did not match the perhaps more elevated feeling the decor tries to portray. The ladies toilets seats were ill fitting to the bowl but were otherwise nice and clean. Overall, we very much enjoyed our experience and certainly will be back! Highly recommend!

I have always enjoyed dining in Browns when visiting my in-laws in Derry, however, I will not be returning! We were not allowed to use a £100 pound voucher despite having a digital receipt and correspondence of the purchase of the voucher, as we did not have the voucher card to hand. I spoke to Ian explaining that we had been gifted the voucher as a newborn baby present and that we clearly threw out the voucher by accident. We had booked for 5 people and would surely have spent a lot more than £100. This policy is extremely short-sighted, really poor customer service and a demonstration of very poor administration as they clearly do not keep a record of the vouchers. Also, given that it's 2024, surely a business would provide a digital voucher. I would advise against purchasing any vouchers from this establishment, and anyone looking for good customer service should go elsewhere. I have never experienced this with another restaurant ever.

Fantastic food, great service, cannot fault this place. Loved it all. Very aware of gluten free needs. Served beautiful gluten free fresh bread, fantastic service, made us feel very comfortable.

Best restaurant in Derry..Still......

Everything was 10/10 for my partner and I. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. I had duck leg for the starter which was presented in a very modern way. Extremely delicious. The vension for the main was amazing and the chocolate and cherry dessert was lip smackingly good.

We visited on New Year's eve '23. A good choice of wine offering reasonable prices. Service was attentive and polite, courses served a little too quickly. Food was excellent, we enjoyed three courses each. I particularly enjoyed the venison haunch followed by a delicious and well made souffle. Price including tip came to approx £75 each which we felt was good value.

I was soo looking forward to having Christmas lunch in Browns with my partner. Soo disappointed 😞 we choose to go into a quiet area, because there was Christmas party lunches, which were very loud. The area was cold which I did comment to the waitress, honestly she could have cared less. We were ignored throughout lunch, had to ask for condiments, no salt or pepper on the table. My partner sent back his sea bream, the waiter took it back with distain, I could go on, but honestly it would take to long. Sooo disappointed 😞

Wonderful food. The Chateaubriand was good. The Colcannon and Broccoli & Cabbage vegetables on the side were superb. It was accompanied by a lovely Vallon d'Arche Bordeaux.

Excellent value for the wine paired meal

Excellent, relaxed atmosphere. 'Allowed' to enjoy both meal and company uninterrupted.

Food first class “taster menu with wine £100pp, service first class, decor and venue was lovely, staff were attentive and friendly and food supplied quickly, however…. No fault of the staff whatsoever but we sat about 3 metres from a group of 4 Americans and as the night went on they became somewhat irritating and repetitive and clicking there fingers at staff was annoying me personally, we would have requested a move only the last course 2 course we had to listen to them, besides that a really lovely night.

I e-mailed a week ago to complain about the poor service we got. Never got a response. I also complained on the night and they let us pay and leave without offering an apology. The longer version of events is in my e-maill to them.

Perfect steak, spectacular desserts

Mixed feelings about Browns. I enjoyed the breads selection, sauces and sides however the steak I ordered was supposed to be medium and instead was more rare and really fatty it was mostly inedible! I mentioned this to our waitress who didn’t even apologise and instead just said ‘I’ll let the chefs know’. The service was also very slow and we were not compensated for the steak which we could barely eat. This is not a cheap option to eat out and so I expected better from Browns. For the price I would not return.

Refined and elegant place where you can enjoy excellent dishes. We tried the fish and the typical Irish soups: superb. Dining room staff attentive to customer needs. Fast service and last but not least stellar desserts. Super recommended if you are in Derry. Reservation recommended

In and out in an hour! I don’t know what the rush was. Food was perfectly fine (except the black garlic chips that didn’t have salt or garlic flavor), but felt super rushed to order and eat. Go eat, but be ready to move!

Just home from a first class meal at Brown's Bond Hill, we could not fault a single thing. Staff were really lovely and friendly. The service was excellent. We will definitely be back 100%.

A Very nice place. Food presentation is great. Fish of the day was fantastic. Lamb was very very good. Filet was okay. Desert was wonderful. Overall pretty good & highly recommended.

Over priced poor fine dining food!

Was there for lunch on a friday and we were the only people in. Didn't affect the quality of the great food. Staff really friendly. Love that they give suggestions for wine to accompany each item. Loved the bread especially the guiness wheaten. One of our party had the cheese board and the rest us helped finish it up!

Would have liked to choose the side dish. We were given a bowl of boiled potatoes which we didn't eat, so we were left hungry after the main course. Despite this, the monkfish was delicious!

Best food experience I've ever had in Ireland, hands down.

We had main courses from the lunch menu which were all excellent! Beautiful presentation, portion sizes just right and very good flavours. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Was very quiet on a Saturday lunch before Christmas which is hard to understand as I would highly recommend it.

Very good tasting menu. Highlight the as the wine flight. Although the retail price per bottle is consistent 12 pounds the wines selected were quite good.

I have not been in a while. My 2 daughters came with me and from travelling from America for 6 weeks in Florida and from London and France . I was delighted with the quality ,presentation and the young lady who seved us I could not falt. Food in a resturant can be first class but the young lady made the afternoon so special . Many thanks. Restaurant is exclusive and delightful. Food was delicious, highly recommend the tasting menu. Staff will looking after you nicely and they have a good wine selection therefore it was an experience that I appreciated the most in Derry.

Beautiful food, presented with style. The staff introduce each dish with knowledge and are very attentive. With every course, we admired each others meals and enjoyed ours greatly. Every thing was just “wow”. Plus the decor is gorgeous. This is a highlight of Derry and well worth the hype.

Food was great 👍 Service was fast ☑️ Waiting staff were very Friendly 👌 Very sad I didn't take photos, but what I can say is I think if I'd of stopped to take photos it would have taken me away from the fantastic experience! Out in Browns for our lovely friend's birthday. Haven't been here since we left Derry but always wanted to return. The food was stunningly presented and absolutely delicious. The turkey main course was just perfect as was the apple crumble souffle. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended x

Food was excellent, however seemed a bit short staffed which is probably the trend in hospitality at the minute. Missed the few nice touches which they used to do pre covid (gin marshmallows etc) and menu is smaller than it used to be also, however as ever they excelled with the meal as always
