The food and sevice was very good. Food was well delivered. Bonus they also serve local beers and ciders

Had a lovely lunch with family, friendly service. We sat outside and admired the flowers and plants that adorn the building.

We are stopping on a near by campsite. The Brookside is a lovely calm place to stop in for a snack or a full meal. It is also nice that they do an all day English breakfast. The staff are so polite and accommodating. The lattes are huge and in my opinion how they should be. Everything was served hot on hot plates and was delicious.

Stopped for lunch, very friendly staff. Had the pie of the day. Will go back and have another pie of the day another day. It will be a different pie.

There was 8 of us and the food arrived piping hot and at the same time, the desserts were very good also arrived at the same time, the food was first quality and the waitress were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, would happily recommend them and we'll be back again soon 😁

Back again on our way home after our holiday in Dartmoor. Waitresses are so friendly & the garden is so pretty. Would definitely recommend. My husband had full English & my scrambled egg on toast was cooked just as I'd asked. Thank you for great service!

Wonderful staff excellent service and yummy food 😋 had corned beef hash which I think I don't remember coming up for air when I was eating it 😆, even had room for a melt in the mouth meringue with berries and cream 😀

Delicious meal, generous portions, local ingredients, plenty of green veg (not just the overused chips), not overpriced, very attentive waiting staff. All that in a lovely garden, on a warm sunny day, under a decent-sized parasol. What more could one ask for?

First visit to brookside restaurant, we were very impressed with the surroundings and it has its own carpark. The staff are very friendly and made us feel welcomed. As I'm a ceolac, they gave me a choice of white or brown bread as not many establishments offer that. The gluten-free breakfast was very good. There is a good atmosphere to the place. Will be going back very soon. There are outside eating areas to the front and side.

Took visiting family recently. It was great! Beautifully cooked: quality ingredients, & well presented. Very friendly and efficient service. Good choice of tea - not just your regular fruit or herbal: but Assam, Darjeeling, Earl Grey etc… (I prefer my tea in a mug: however, it was served in a cup & saucer - and the cup was hot! A very nice touch indeed.) Will return soon. Thank you

My partner and I visited Brookside Cafe today for the first time. The welcome we received from the owners and staff was very warm and friendly. We both enjoyed the full cooked breakfast. We could tell the products used were of good quality, the bacon and sausages were particularly tasty. We shall return to try some of the offerings from the lunch menu.

We will definitely go back! Cosy, with nice food and fantastic staff!

Very good but it was a bit too warm for me

Food wasn't to bad. However, the service was terrible. Staff were rude. Took ages for our order to be take, our plates were thrown in front of us then when paying staff came across extremely judgmental. Safe to say, we shall not be returning.

Stopped by for cup tea and also enjoyed some lovely cake with friends. Recommended.

Very dissapointed. Unable to review food or service as we were turned away. Made a journey as we heard this was a good restaurant. Checked online that it would be open until 4pm. Arrived at 3pm and, even though the door was open and staff inside we were told it was closed.

Family friendly eatery, warm ambiance. Food constantly reliable and wholesome. Keep going back and never been let down. After another visit with my family, all the above still applies.

A friendly place to stop when it was pouring with rain and blowing us off our feet. Several other cafes in above turned us away with the dog but Brookside welcomed us with open arms. Super friendly staff with warm smiles that made us feel very welcome. Food was hot, well cooked, served quickly and was plentiful - it also tasted superb. The breakfast wasn’t greasy and the toast was hot! My wife had corned beef hash and eggs and said she felt 8 years old again, old school comfort food.

Found these guys while looking for a lunchtime snack on a damp day. A busy and thriving cafe/restaurant with good attention to detail, varied menu, good coffee and attentive professional staff who attend in and outdoors. Enough space between tables to be comfortable and not colliding with others getting in to them. The rear entrance is level through double doors for less able visitors in wheelchairs. Small step at the front entrance easily negotiated with care. Outside seating available (not used that day as it was bucketing down !) Dog friendly inside and out which is important for many. Good size portions of fresh cooked food in a short timeframe even when fairly busy. Very reasonable prices with offerings of local jams or chutneys plus cakes of all sorts at the till point. A very enjoyable experience especially on a run out to Trago.

Roast potatoes needed to be crisper, but good value for money.

Very pricey for low-quality breakfast food - eggs undercooked and slimy, sausages very low-quality - bacon dry. Only one single mushroom and most of the plate is filled with over-fried potatoes. Service is reasonable and the cafe generally caters for OAPs. Lots of people with dogs in there, and over 90% of the customers were over 70. Hideously expensive (£28 for 2 substandard breakfasts). Tea was awful - very weak indeed.

A great place to eat at, we were well looked after & the food was as excellent as the service.

Quiet, peaceful place to have lunch. Both had Cold Meat Platter with Pickles, small salad and chips, pot of tea each. Real slices of turkey, beef and ham. The pickles are local and better than big brand names, as you would expect. Otter Vale Apple with West Country Cider our favourite. A little pricey but worth it.

Visited today on recommendation from a couple we met in a coffee shop. An absolute gem of a place. I had the crayfish salad and friend had the cold meat platter. Both had dessert. The food was amazing and the service to match(thanks Sophie) .Will definitely be back.

Excellent food and service, came out quickly, Helpful, friendly staff. Free car park at back small and tight if very busy. There is a pay & display car park just 2 minutes away if theirs is full.

A charming restaurant with great staff and homely atmosphere. Extensive menu. But roast meals often accompanied by overcooked and limp vegetables. Mashed potatoes a lump of stodge. Salads and sandwiches are the best bet. Garden seating when the weather permits. Parking slots at the rear but spaces at premium. Public parking about ten minutes away.

Went to Dartmoor to explore and stay over on Saturday night. Put into google local cafes open on Sundays. The Brookside Cafe came up and we put it on our maps. When we walked through the door we have a warm and lovely welcome, and was shown to our table. Good sized menu to choose from. Me and my partner both had the breakfast cook with a pot of tea and coffee. It was the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back.

Ordered 2 full English breakfast at £10.95 each. Quality was average, eggs were underdone and slimey. Tea was Very weak with 2 bags in a small pot, left it to stew but no change. Service was good and friendly, but for the price and quality of ingredients sadly won't be returning. I posted this review over a year ago, but Google moved it to an entirely different business..

Dropped in at 11:30 on a Sunday on the off-chance that they could fit us in for a coffee and cake - most of the cafes were closed and it was raining. They put us on a table that was reserved for lunch at 12:30 which was perfect. We both had a large coffee and a caramel shortbread which was very nice - I had started eating it before remembering to take a picture. Staff were very nice. They were fully booked for lunch which is always a good recommendation. The menu from breakfast through to dinner looked good. Based upon our limited experience we would recommend this place.

Nice little family run restaurant. The staff are always accommodating and helpful. Nice outside area and plenty of seating inside.

For the price I would expect 2 sausages or 2 bacon not 1 of each.

After visiting a garden and a tea room nearby, which were both shut!! We remembered that Brookside cafe was very in the vicinity and having been before and had a lovely meal, we decided to pay another visit. We'll we were not disappointed, the place was buzzing. The staff are very friendly and the food was great. We had a sandwich, which was very fresh and full of filling. Followed by a cream tea, the scones were massive and very light, and there was masses of strawberry jam and cream. We left feeling full and happy. Would highly recommend a visit.

The best value cream tea ever. The gluten free scones were delicious and the portions were large and delicious.

There isn't much to say as it is such a wonderful location and lovely staff. The scones are exquisite and you can ask for fruit scones with your cream tea :). The only mark down was that smoking is allowed outside.

Great place for a good meal with a family get together. The staff handled our food order's brilliantly (not easy) I had the Pie of the Day which was Fabulous.

S lovey find on a wet Sunday afternoon looking for cream tea. The service was very good, it was a lovely clean cafe restaurant and relaxing atmosphere and you could tell local regulars go there. Our cream tea and cheese scones were bug and very tasty with a good amount and selection for the price! Also absolutely fine with a toddler. Thankyou

Very welcoming friendly staff. Very busy so it shows you how popular it is. Food was nice. Just a few extras on the afternoon tea would make it stand out e.g crisps, quiche, salad etc. A few different smaller slices of cake would be nice on it as well. Will definitely go back and recommend. Thank you!

An excellent lunch to celebrate father-in-law's 96th birthday. The food was delicious and there was a good range of options on the menu. We really enjoyed the experience.

My Fsther in Law brought us here when we visited him in a nearby nursing home. He had been before and was very excited to be going again. We can see why. The staff are wonderful Kind, very pleasant and knew how to time the attendance perfectly. The food was brilliant. Fresh and tasty. I had lamb and it was beautiful. The restaurant knows how to cater for its clientele and we felt comfortable and welcomed. This was the first of many visits to come. Prices were very reasonable also.👍

We landed on this place one weekday afternoon, it looked lovely as a garden suncatcher in the late afternoon sun. The waitress was very helpful and attentive, promptly clearing our desired table which had just been vacated and taking our order. The lunch of coronation chicken sandwich with side and crisps was delivered in no time. It was a very wealthy portion and tasted delicious. We washed it down with an ale. Lovely place, was very impressed and would definitely return

We come to Devon quite often having a relative here in Bovey Tracey. The Brookside is a favourite of ours. A great choice of food offered and it is always good. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Prices are good and we've never been disappointed. It's well worth a visit. Can be busy so you might consider booking ahead.

Good food at a fair price. Limited onsite parking but the local car park is only 3 min walk away. Always a relaxed atmosphere and pleasant staff

We went there this Sunday lunch time and had a couple of their baguettes. They were really good. The service was excellent and we were allowed to take our dogs as well. Will definitely be going there again.

I love this place! Right in the heart of beautiful Bovey Tracey you can enjoy a cup of tea or a fantastic sandwich, afternoon tea or a full meal. All great food and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Every time we visit Devon we make sure we visit Bovey and our favourite eatery.
