Good pint of Guinness, decent house music..

Long walk completed, time for a pint. Went to the Britannia, music inside too loud. Ok let’s go outside. Blimey speakers outside, can’t escape the music.

Popped in for some food and it was amazing. Chicken wings for starter and steak for main, and it was all delicious. Will definitely return.

staff very welcoming , nice atmosphere, range of beer very good. Food just needs to be a bit more traditional, vast improvement on last lot running it.

Love this place so much. Board games, great food for good prices, decent beer and everyone is in here. It's like cheers, such a wide spectrum of lovely people, all super chatty and friendly. A few more months on the Brit now has garden games that the kids think are amazing. You have no idea how quiet they are right now 🤐😂

Popped in for a drink, didn't have food. Maybe try next time.

Decided to try as I understood it ha changed hands so dropped in for lunchw ith a friend - we both winced as we approached the door as we could tell from outside that the music was incredibly loud - luckily we had seen some outside booth seats so we ordered drinks and food and "escaped" outside to wait. Ham egg and chips arrived and was as expected - however the tuna salad contained no tuna whatsoever - just a coulpe of slivers of anchovy in a mound of salty lettuce. The barmaid was apologetic and accepted that this was not good - I ordered a pannini - not what i would have liked but it was OK. The beers were fine and the staff friendly enough. I wanted to have a tab pay on a card in opne payment but was told this was not possible as food and drink provided by separate companies - interesting...

Great pub, with really nice beers and lots of games to play with, including a pool table, a game of balls, Jenga, domino etc... And plenty of seating area inside and outside.

A great day with family and friends at a classic local pub. A group of us met at the Britannia and had planned to use it as a meeting point and move on. After a while and some lovely chats with the owners we decided to stay and were treated to some lovely music, atmosphere and food. We have since been back to see Sue and the team and enjoy more of their food and company! This is a gem of a pub and if I could pick it up and move it to my home town I would! 10 stars!

What has happened to this pub! I ordered a pasta bolognese dish and a pizza only to be told that the wait for the pizza would be at least 40 minutes as ‘ they’d made a lot of pizzas that day’ …this was ordered on a Friday night at 6.45 pm…what the actual…. When the meals arrived we were presented with two dishes which had at most 50 pence worth of tagliatelle and about a pound worth of mince that was tasteless and practically ungarnished, all for the princely cost of £14 per dish. I absolutely hate being ripped off and this was absolutely awful. I realise that pubs really need to offer food to survive but this was really really bad. This pub used to be great with lovely a lovely selection of courses and it has now descended into a greasy spoon with overpriced inedible food. No wonder I saw people bringing pizzas of their own to their table from the local pizza place across the road! I won’t be back until they get their act together.

Very pleasant and helpful staff. However, the food, or lack of it, due to only having a trainee chef. No pizzas, no pasta, no ribs. So had to be chicken wings and chips, which were ok but not what I had planned.

Stopped by for lunch. Had a great friendly welcome followed by excellent freshly cooked food. Looking forward to visiting again

I went to check out the place due to reviews I've had from friends, lovely staff, make you feel so welcome and comfortable, food is great, homemade pizza that gives you everything you want, good selection of alcohol and the gardens are just pleasant, 10 out of 10 all round

I'm new to Nailsworth and everyone keeps asking if I've been in "the Brit" now it's got a new owner... And I've got to say, to whoever asks... They are doing a fantastic job. It's the most homely, chilled out pub you are likely to walk into. The bar team are just so hugely friendly, and like much of Nailsworth are just super engaging, humble and kind. The food from the Food Lab that runs as a partner business is just crazy good for stupendous value, you cannot fault the flavour, and more importantly, the loaded fries, which are on par with the Dutch! (Not an easy thing). There are board games on offer but most of the time people bring their own. If you hadn't guessed, I really love this place.

We had been to the wonderful Canal side book shop in Brimscombe and it was time for lunch . We have eaten in Nailsworth before so drove there. We looked at the menu for the Britannia Inn and decided we liked the look of it. The pub has been opened since February this year under new management. I had a pizza, my husband had pappardelle Bolognaise and my daughter had a baked Hasselback potato with ham, cheese and bechamel sauce. We all enjoyed the food very much though my daughter thought the Bechamel sauce was a little too spicy for her taste but she ate it all up. My pizza was excellent and superior to anything you would get in a supermarket or Pizza chain restaurant. The chef makes his own dough. There is one restaurant in London that does Pizzas as good as the Nailsworth one, but otherwise I have not had one that good since I was last in Italy.

I could not fault anything from my experience at the britannia. The food, service and drinks were excellent. I would highly recommend

We stayed in Nailsworth for a couple of nights and the local pub was convenient...had ribs and pasta..its under new ownership...very good atmosphere and I think it was the new owner very friendly and welcoming....I am sure it will do well.

We only had drinks but good relaxed atmosphere - felt welcome. New management team.

Great food, great staff, great atmosphere

Lovely countryside Cotswold pub. Large restaurant and bar area with open fire. Great food and staff were friendly and great to chat with. TV for sport. Pool table. Fruit machine and Live music events. Front and back outdoor seating and gardens Free parking in town and Car park round the back. What more could you ask for? Brilliant.

Went in for lunch today and there was no in the bar despite shouting nobody came so went elsewhere

Just passing through and the pretty lights caught our eye. The bar was decorated lovely and cosy. The staff were very friendly and the food was very well presented and tasty..

Quiet when we went in for drinks (it was a Sunday early evening) but a chill vibe, staff very friendly, place looked great and very welcoming. Wishing them the very best after their reopening :)

Walked in and headed to the bar with 1 person waiting. 2 more people walked in and were served first so left and went to the Village Inn.

I used to really like this place. I think it's still part of the same group as the fleece and lodge which are great and we go there often. The Brit has really dropped off tho. Food was over priced for what it was, portions were really small. The inside looks and feels run down too. Hopefully they can pull it back to what it used to be.

I organised a Christmas lunch for our friend group at the Brit, and we were very happy with the experience. The food was amazing! Definitely what I class as gastro-pub quality.

Four of us were booked in for dinner on Wed 7th Dec 22. We had a lovely time and the food was absolutely delicious, the Christmas Pudding ice-cream especially! Service was swift and staff were friendly. I'm looking forward to an excuse for another visit.

A cozy pub with a live fire going in the fire place. Not the cheapest pint and food, however the food was very tasty and service very good.

Popped in after a lovely stroll around Nailsworth for a coffee, ordered 2 lattes and a pit of tea. Tea came very quickly although we'd been given 2 cups? Then we waited, saw the girl behind the bar doing something at the coffee machine but still waited. Then customers arrived at the bar do she went to serve them, then more customers and she continued to serve them, eventually having still not recieved our lattes I asked her she said they were coming, after a good 25mins she brought them over, I tasted mine and it was lukewarm, I told her to which she replied she could make another!!! Life's too short, not great service on a quiet Saturday afternoon.

Just had the most wonderful Sunday lunch. Really accommodating, even for large group.

Mid-week treat. Nice cosy atmosphere. Well balanced menu. All of our dishes were nicely cooked. A real cut above average pub food. Highly recommended!

been to nailsworth many times but havent been in here for a good while, went in last night & plesantly surprised, food was good . excellent service & good selection of drinks, best was the banana fritters with homemade rum icecream , BEST ICECREAM IVE HAD FOR YEARS, good variety of meals, will be going again soon.

Great help from Fraser and the girls. Plenty of things to arrange beforehand for a vegan meal and allowing a dog. Sorted it all out for us and the service and food was spot on.

What a great place. I had emailed before visiting that I had a nut allergy. Chef came out to speak & put my mind at rest for ordering. What great service & How very attentive . Not only impressed with that but the ambiance with lighted candles in the day and the food was delicious 😋!! Top marks.

Lovely pub, sat outside on a warm day and tried various starters between a group of us, all were good. Staff helpful and friendly.

Lovely pub but a little expensive

The second time I have eaten here and both times the meals were absolutely delicious. I had a mushroom dish on the first visit and this time tried the fish pie which was excellent.

Since lock down the quality of the food and surroundings have really improved - the fish pie, for example, is amazing.

I'm a fussy eater and the chef spoke to me earlier in the day when we were just having a drink and convinced me to come back for dinner, he then brought our food out personally and even checked after dinner that I'd enjoyed the meal. The food was great and the staff went above and beyond to ensure me and my wife had a great meal. Highly recommended

Recent visits have been enjoyed, and it's great to find that high standards are being consistently achieved: great to look forward to good food and service and not be disappointed! This means taking friends is also pleasurable, and recent guests have already returned - good repeat business for the Brit. Debbie and her team deserve great credit for what is being achieved, the quality of steaks on offer is a credit to Taylors butchers, and the steak night offer includes a very palatable Portuguese red wine, making the evening dinner good value. Long may the Britannia continue to welcome us and many new and returning diners. Hot tip: If you are looking for a starter, ask to see the bar snack menu as well as the main menu - we love the chicken wings and Welsh Cakes with cheese!

Well, what can I say? After an exhausting journey it was a delightful finish. With the slightly unusual, seasonal and exciting. It was a pleasure to enjoy! Merci Beaucoup

Wednesday was steak night, any night this great pub has exceptional food.

Lovely items on the food menu, typical pub food as well as a few other more exciting dishes. Beer was cold and the service was quick

Had a fantastic meal tonight. Bhaji starter, followed by a great steak with peppercorn sauce, Portobello mushroom and blue cheese with triple cooked chips. And brown bread ice cream for dessert. All ice creams are made in house, and surprisingly this flavour was delicious! I would deffinately recommend coming here for a great meal and fantastic service.

Nice clean pub, clean beer pipes (I can tell you know!), pretty garden. Didn't eat so can only mark on the beer aspect!

Visited the Brit after a long absence to try their Thursday night steak deal. And what a lovely surprise. The interior decor is so inviting now and spotlessly clean. The service and food were both excellent. Incredible value for money. So great to have the Brit back as a choice of venue in Nailsworth.

Second trip recently and not disappointed. They’ve tweaked their menu a bit following comments and I had the gammon, duck egg and chips which was great. Well done the Brit! An asset to our lovely town.

This used to be a nice local pub before they decided to go posh. Now there is no normal pub food on the menu any more. Even if you are ok with the higher prices, we just couldn't find anything we wanted to eat (it was mainly fish). We got up and left after already settling at a table, it was that bad.

Visited last Friday lunchtime, and had the braised lamb with bubble and squeak, fried egg and lamps lettuce. All I can say is that it was delightful. Would certainly recommend any will be visiting again real soon

Just had lunch at the Brit. and it was superb! Had the Sunday roast beef, which was very tender, with a good choice of vegetables that were all excellent -cooked just right and full of flavour. As good a roast lunch as I can remember having.

The food was amazing! Loved the restaurant and I would like to return! The 4/5 was because of the delay in getting drinks .. a minor issue but we did have to call them to remind them of our order!

Warm, welcoming, great place to be. Wine is good.

The food we did have was lovely however all 4 of us wanted the chicken dish but were told they only had two pieces of chicken, this was 7pm and they open at 6pm, it wasn’t even busy! We asked the chef if 2 of us could have the steak at the same price as the chicken dish but he said no and didn’t offer any kind of apology!! We had deserts and then we asked for coffee but yet again was told that they didn’t have any, unbelievable!!! Needless to say we won’t be rushing back….

We had SUCH a lovely time...they accommodated us so well from start to finish. The food was yum, the bar staff were lovely, the service was great...and it's a lovely lovely place.

We recently had our Christmas lunch at the Brittania, there were 15 of us, the staff were helpful and accommodating , the food was lovely and we all had a great time. Would highly recommend.

We spent a cosy evening in front of the log fire in a Christmas fantasia. Lovely beer and at last a pub that still sells sherry. Friendly, helpful staff.

Food was very tasty, but portions a bit small. A limited menu and no sides on offer - therefore disappointing.

My wife and I had two excellent meals in the Britt Recently. Lovely atmosphere and amazing food.

A group of us heard the recent reviews of The Britannia and decided to venture a little way out for dinner. What a great call! My friends used to frequent the pub early 2000 and were keen to see what was on offer. The pub is war, inviting with a fireplace and heating. The staff were efficient friendly and welcoming. What really stood out for us is the amazing food. It was fresh, presented well and really this British pub punches well above its weight. We all tried something different from the menu to try a bit of everything. Fish pie, chicken, pan fried cod.. even sticky toffee doughnuts! The quality beats most good restaurants! Can’t recommend highly enough. Well done to the entire team!

Food was very tasty, good quality and quantity, fresh veg, service was excellent, lovely dining room with a roaring log fire at one end, child and dog friendly, recommend the sticky toffee pud donhnut..

We held a belated Wake ( postponed from lockdown) for family and friends. We were very pleased with the quality, quantity and variety of the buffet and everyone really enjoyed the food. The staff were very efficient and looked after us with great care. I would definitely recommend the place to anyone wanting to arrange a special event!

The dining room in The Britannia is really nice and we did enjoy our visit. We started with the fondue which was excellent. For mains it was the seared cod loin, also excellent, and the panzanella salad. Unfortunately the salad had far too much lettuce but virtually no gorgonzola.Pete did a great job as our waiter despite being the only server in what was a pretty busy dining room

Food was amazing, but the service was EXTREMELY slow. My sons girlfriend had soup as a starter but wasn’t given a spoon, waitress said I’ll be back, several minutes later no spoon and the waitress was chatting behind the bar, so we had to go the bar and ask for a spoon ourself……. Not good service. On leaving we had our bill, paid cash and left it in the closed wooden bill pad on the table. Five minutes after leaving the pub I had a phone call from a member of staff saying we had left without paying……… staff didn’t check the table prior to calling…. That call finished off my experience not very pleasant……

Fantastic service coupled with delicious food at a great price. There was a large party in when we arrived, but our table was quiet and peaceful, allowing us to have a conversation without shouting.

Outstanding service from the pleasant staff member who took my booking in the afternoon to the attentive staff member who hosted our table in the evening.Nice pint of ale, amazing starter of dippy cheese thing and cracking burger for main meal.Very dog friendly, pooches got treats and water provided and a good fuss...well appreciated. The most delicious roast dinner I think we have ever had! Service was excellent and the food was good value for money. Would highly recommend this pub! Shame we live so far away or we would definitely be back.

Visited for a family dinner. My main course had been doused in salt and other members had quality problems. All meals were presented well but with minimal quantities and maximum prices. We were advised that we could order desserts (also expensive) but would have to wait for their preparation as the kitchen was very busy! (At 7.00 on a Saturday evening with about a dozen other diners in a large restaurant!!) We left hungry, without taking a dessert and very disappointed. Will not be returning.

Having done our research on where to eat we ended up in this relaxing pub , the beer was nice and cold almost as cold as the reception we received from the frosty and blunt staff . Having placed our order for food I was so hungry as not eaten all day . The food arrived and was synthetically pleasing. After the first bit I could taste the deluxe bugger was straight out of the freezer , the freshly baked bun was burnt on top and crispy underneath , the frozen chips that accompanied the meal were less than crispy , having eaten only the garnish and pickle we left vowing never to return

The food was superb in every respect, my friend who is Swiss reported that it was the best english food she had ever tasted. I cannot recommend the Brit highly enough, quality of food and drink and the helpfulness of the waiters, this really is an ideal pub to visit with friends or even alone, the welcome is always warm, the staff always very friendly. The choices to the menu also are suited to all tastes! At present this is a place to visit and book a meal. Come and see for yourselves!

My friend & I had lunch here yesterday and we were both very impressed with both the food and service staff who were very polite and attentive. I understand that the food is cooked to order, so an understandable bit of a wait, but worth it. In particular, my meal of slow braised mushroom ragu & creamy polenta was to die for! I will definitely come back again.

Had a lovely 3 course family meal , every course was fab , particularly the sticky toffee pudding donut with banana brûlée and hope made ice cream which was out of this world

Being tired one evening we booked at the last minute and were so impressed. First visit. Great surroundings, nice easy going atmosphere. The waiter explained there'd be a slight delay as the chicken piece in the chicken supreme is all cooked from fresh. Worth waiting for - it was really tasty. Burger we also had was delicious. Staff helpful and friendly.

We went here for a Sunday Lunch 11th july, really good , excellent value. So we decided to have midweek lunch 14th july. Absolutely terrible !!First the waiter forgot what our drinks order was. We then had to wait nearly an hour for our meal, Pork Escallope . which to put it mildly, was apalling. The park was overcooked and looked and tasted like it had come out of a supermarket "Ready prepared" meal isle. It was accompanied by a stringy piece of cabbage and a very small amount of just warm crushed potatoes. All in all a disappointing very much overpriced lunch, which I reported to the waitress whose only excuse was that we had not pre booked our meal. Shocking. We were not the only ones complaining about the time delays.

The chefs at the The Brittania have done a fantastic job on transforming this pub into a go-to destination for delicious food in lovely surroundings with lots of outdoor space. As vegetarians it was a delight to see creative and tasty options - highly recommend the Wild Mushroom with polenta

We visited this Restaurant on 06th July for an evening meal.... The Restaurant itself is lovely with lit candles on all the tables and friendly and attentive staff....The menu our party of three chose was , The Chicken Supreme, The Halibut and The Pan seared Pork Chop.... all of which were cooked to perfection, with wonderful presentation..... to follow two of us had The sticky Toffee Pudding Dohnut - different but good, and The Pimms - the cucumber granita was lovely and very refreshing as was all of the Pimms dessert - I would recommend you try it, I loved it...We look forward to returning very soon to The Britannia, the staff and chef are a credit to this establishment... A Big well done and Thank-you..

Visited for dinner on a Saturday evening. Not busy but only one person serving tables which meant that service was quite slow and not attentive as you'd like. Food okay but nothing special which would prompt me to return.

Very tasty food , we had the Chicken Supreme and Burger & chips. All hot and nothing left on our plates The service was good too. It’s a lovely pub to relax in , clean and covid safe. We went on a Tuesday night so the menu was limited & not many people there but I didn’t have to cook so that’s a bonus in my book . Definitely would eat there again when visiting the area.

Really excellent lunchtime roast yesterday. We had a pod in the garden which was very pleasant. Great roasties and Yorkshires in particular and the portions were generous. Service was with a smile. Will go back in the evening!

Came here five years after our first visit which was amazing, and we were hoping the food was just as good this time! We weren't disappointed! It was lunchtime so we had a BLT and a GRP Sandwich (Goats cheese, roasted pepper, basil pesto and rocket) with a side of chips to share and it was all delicious! Unfortunately no room for dessert but they looked delicious. The service was great and the prices reasonable. Hopefully it won't be another five years before we return!
