Please please do not eat at brickyard jerk / bomba!! The rice was soggy and didn’t have coconut milk. It had water still in it when served. The chicken was burnt and didn’t have jerk seasoning on it. The whole food was unseasoned. Had to return my drink as the glass had black bits in it. Please this isn’t Jamaican food. Please don’t believe it’s Jamaican food.

Ordered jerked chicken with rice and peas and it was most definitely microwave rice from a packet you can buy for less than a quid in aldi

We visited Exeter in August and we were feeling hungry. Fortunately, we came across Brickyard Jerk unexpectedly, so we thought it we give it a try, we were very pleased. We ordered two platters for the 4 of us and it was a great meal with well seasoned jerk chicken, spiced rice & peas the way I like it and the plantains were delicious. The staff were really friendly and warm. You could tell they put a lot of love into the place and were passionate about the food. The music set the correct vibe and though we had a takeaway, I wished I could have stayed. If you are in the Exeter/Devon area do make a bee line for Brickyard Jerk they need your support in these unstable times. Next time I’m in Exeter, I’m going back!

Me encantó nuestra comida.

I was really looking forward to going here as I am a big fan of Caribbean food. It was a complete let down. There was loud music playing, which is fine, but one of the speakers was crackling badly and loudly which made it quite jarring and impossible to enjoy the music. The space is dingy with really cheap furniture and the decor looks as though no thought has gone into it at all. I was served by a young waitress, who was pleasant, but the other staff were surly, sloppy and looked like they had just got out of bed and weren't happy about it. Some staff were drinking behind the bar. Some were wandering around in dirty T shirt and beach shorts looking really miserable. There's a big difference between a relaxed place and a sh*t hole! The drinks were OK, nothing special. Plastic straws aren't great for the environment. This must be the last place in Exeter still using them. The menu said "cocktails" - I'm not sure a rum and coke can really call itself a cocktail. One of the "cocktails" was served in a jam jar. Not a hipster jar / glass. An actual jam jar. Seemed really odd to be re-purposing jam jars, then using plastic straws. £4.75 for a pint of watery red stripe seemed over priced. The food was just awful. I think it was the worst food I have been served anywhere in Exeter. The jerk chicken tasted as though there was no seasoning at all, and the chicken itself was hard and had no flavour. There was a huge leaf of lettuce that was wilting and had seen better days. A slice of tomato that tasted of nothing, which considering it's the perfect season for tomatoes I can only assume means they use the cheapest produce available. My friend had a burger with was lost in a huge bun that had clearly been frozen and defrosted as it was soggy, crumbly and again the cheapest produce available. There was some sloppy room temperature coleslaw that again was completely without flavour. It was all served so fast it was clear it had been pre-cooked and warmed up. At between £12 - £15 for a main course it was really shoddy, like they just didn't care and had no pride in what they were serving. There was nothing jerk or Caribbean about the food. As a chef myself I would be ashamed to serve this kind of food. There are so many great offerings around Exeter Quay, so I doubt they'll be in business much longer

We were here for birthday drinks, we were here for a good couple of hours, yes we were a bit loud, but not rude and got told to leave, even though the noise level was loud and people drinking on a Saturday night!!!!
