Brendan's Bar in Down

My wife and I had a takeaway on Sunday. Turkey and Ham Dinner and a Beef dinner both smothered in a pepper sauce. My wife had the beef and loved it. However, the sauce disguised the lack of Turkey and Ham on mine. Very filling all the same, but I still was disappointed.

Delightful surprise. We went here because we had a voucher (and also because they still had an a la carte menu , not just the Christmas menu). From the outside it reminded me of the pubs in the east end of Glasgow 20 years ago (and on the inside too; everyone huddled at the bar, topping-off their own half-settled Guinness if the owner was too busy). The owner came over to serve us and was very chatty and friendly and good with the kids. Then the food; Great. I'm a bit fussy because I eat out a lot when travelling around for work but the food here was just the ticket. Best chicken stack I've ever had (huge tobacco onions) and the helping for my wife's scampi was huge (also delicious) The kids ate all of theirs too. It was incredible to see not so many people here, they really are missing out. If you want good pub grub and friendly service then come here.

Table sticky with grime. Smells of cigarette. The toilets not very clean. Otherwise the burger and chips were delicious 😋

very disappointed asked for wine and a pint the wine was serve warm/straight from the store unchilled and such a small glass of wine it was an extra small glass when I asked the waitress she kindly took it back to a rather disgusted barmaid/ possible owner I was severed different wine in a dirty glass.food was nice but a bit dry a jug of gravy would be a good option. I won't be back .

Called in on a Sunday for a bite of lunch and ended up having Sunday dinner. The food was good and the reason for the 4 stars is only because the food could have been warmer. Saying that my dessert of hot chocolate fudge cake was lovely. Would visit again,.

Have to say was in Brendans for a meal for my granddaughters confirmation the service was first class the food outstanding by far I could hardly move after my 2 course meal leo and family fair play and all the very best for the future I will certainly be back good luck take care and stay safe X

Went to Brendan today for Sunday lunch very friendly staff lovely setting they were doing a sunday special 3 courses £10 I have to say food was gorgeous and staff so attentive brilliant atmosphere and quick service hats of to Gavin the chef food was delicious and the portions were a good size people you really should give this place a try you will not be disappointed fantastic value for money x

On Main Street in Downpatrick, this bar/restaurant is a great place to eat. The food was delicious, freshly prepared and tasty. The service was friendly and attentive, couldn't be faulted. The bar atmosphere was relaxed and warm. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and thought the prices were very reasonable indeed for the quality.

Went to Brennans today for Sunday lunch and what a great choice we made.The staff are on the ball and so quick at finding us a table an getting menus and also so friendly.The food was delishious and at £10 for a 3 course meal you couldnt beat it! Will defo be back again.

Después de haber comido dos veces en una fila, no puedo expresar con palabras sus placas son buenas! Tuve carne asada y bacalao cajuns. Bien servida, estaban deliciosos. Junto con dos sonriente, listo para servir - camareras, Brendan's Bar está en la cima de mi lista cuando llega la hora de comer, en Downpatrick. Altamente recomendado.

Brendan's Bar en mi propia destacó después en tiendas! Una cálida bienvenida de Mark y el personal, que es eliminar de inmediato. Cuando me dieron el menú y luego sentado un vistazo a la tabla de ofertas, y ¡era competitivos! Preciosa camarera simpática joven recomendado el pollo y champiñones pasta, así que me complace decir que fuimos con su recomendación y estaba delicioso, llegó en una hermosa salsa Sopa cremosa y como era formidable! También en las especialidades fue un famoso trío de salchichas de Brendan's con salsa, lo que es difícil de ignorar, ya que es de primera clase! Disfrutamos de un Scampi amigo mío que se llama también! Tanto el pollo y champiñones Pasta y trío de salchichas eran casi vendido, no es de extrañar!

Had a chance to stop in here, and the food is just as exceptional as it was a few years ago. Glad I took the time to stop in before continuing on with my travels. Recommendations would be pretty much everything.

Hemos comido aquí dos veces. La primera vez que tuve una hamburguesa de pollo cajún, que era delicioso. Mi compañero tenía una cena con asado. Su única queja era que la cerveza era de artesanía pidió a temperatura ambiente. Él hubiese preferido que de la nevera. La segunda vez que llamamos, nos encontramos no solo un menú separado los domingos y el menú no es regular. Esto significa no sólo cenas hamburguesas, asado. Un poco decepcionante, ya que no quería eso, pero el personal era muy servicial y se ofreció a servir el filete de pollo como una hamburguesa con tocino, etc. Aún así estuvo bien, y volveremos. El personal era muy educado y servicial.

Una vez que entrar en el restaurante el personal y la comida es deliciosa, sin embargo, tuve que convencer para ir. Been here today with my wife for lunch..Can not fault the food nor the service..Brendan's tower burger was enormous and tasted fantastic..Why this place is not packed for lunch every day is beyond me!..If you have a lunch break and your anywhere near Downpatrick, find this gem...

We eat in Brendans Bar quite regularly and find the staff extremely accommodating. The food is always of a very high standard. The staff are very friendly. Marc the proprietor tries really hard and has made quite a few improvements. This restaurant used to be a 'bring your own' but this has stopped and I think it has affected business as customers are still looking for a cheap night out. If you can bring a £5.00 bottle of wine from the local ASDA , its helps the budget, as the house wine is now about £15.00 a bottle.

A huge thanks to all my staff, so proud, Brendan's looked amazing, the food fabulous, now heads down for a big Christmas season

Visited this bar/restaurant with friends when we needed a place nearby for a quick dinner. Food acceptable, well cooked and tasty and staff very helpful and friendly. Only complaint is that the portions were too large and we all ended up leaving some of the food which was a waste and rather annoying. Perhaps the portion sizes could be reduced and the money used to improve the quality of some of the ingredients i.e. quality rather than quantity. Overall though, one of the better food options in Downpatrick.

Was at a wedding in Brendans on Saturday and it was an amazing day. The staff made everyone feel welcome and added to the special occasion. The food was great with a fantastic selection for a wedding with the option of 3 starters 2 mains and a trio of desserts and the drink flowed especially the cocktails!! I would most definitely hold a family occasion at Brendan's!!!!

Great spot for a bite to eat Had my sisters daughter there for her 21st birthday party there was 20 of us They put all of us at one table Food was very good came out in a fast service nothing was cold there was different meals the girls that served us that day was brill Food just coming from all sides Bar staff were very good as well in fact we all stayed for the music and karaokeGreat crack would go there again

Gorgeous food at brilliant prices. A regular haunt of ours! The waiting staff are fab and we have enjoyed getting to know them all! Wouldn't go anywhere else for a pub lunch.

My sister, cousins, and I found Brendan's on a Sunday afternoon. We were famished and had limited time for lunch. The employees were friendly and welcoming. Our orders were taken and the food came out piping hot. Sadly, we misjudged our time and didn't get to eat most of our food. My turkey and ham was delicious! I hated to not finish it, but the bus was leaving. The next time I get to Downpatrick, I am going back and taking my time.

Had our wedding reception here in 2012 nothing was too much trouble . The back room looked amazing we had a great meal . Have been back on many occasions and each time as good as the last .

Called in recently while out shopping for a pint, and delighted to see the front bar has had a facelift, looking very clean and modern. 2 large TVs showing different sports, good banter between the bar staff and customers, and an upcoming entertainment list that will certainly entice me back again!! I didn't have anything to eat, though it was busy for food, only downside I can mention is the condition of the toilets

Popped in for lunch mid week. The menu was extensive and the very reasonably priced. We both went for the soup and sandwich which I have to say was very tasty. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I would recommend Brendans Bar to anyone.

Having eaten in brendans recently I was more than delighted with the quality of food and value for money. I was pleased to note there there were a wide range of specials on offer to compliment the set menu. I opted for the surf and turf and the portion size was ample, prawns were plentiful and choice of sides. Speed and quality of service was faultless and the place was clean and neat. Glad to see the hideous checked tablecloths are going and there is a very friendly atmosphere in the front bar! credit to all involved! looking forward to sampling the italian night!

Great pub grub. We went for Sunday lunch and got a 3 course meal for £10. The service was speedy and the food tasty. This place was child friendly and staff very helpful. The pub would not be moderate and could do with a upgrade however very clean and still comfortable.

My family and I have been to Brendan's a good few times now and without doubt it full of a warm atmosphere, staff are friendly, great background music and amazing food! Not to mention great value, 3 courses for £10 on a Sunday sure you couldn't beat that!! Credit to Mark and his staff this truly is a hidden gem!!!!

Visited Brendan's for food recently while spending afew days in the area, very disappointed. Dark and cold, it had the feel of something from the 1980's with tables dressed with chequered table cloths. The food was actually ok, but there were more negatives than positives sadly. The gents toilets were in serious need of a refurb. The bar staff, Barry, however was good fun and full of information about anything we asked!

Called into Brendan's yesterday with family and friends! Brendan's offers a varied menu and also does daily specials! My son ordered the ribeye steak meal and thoroughly enjoyed it! Being a lovely sunny day I opted for The Caesar salad which was delicious and at £4.75 was absolutely marvellous! The staff are polite and very helpful to make your experience enjoyable! Cannot understand any bad reviews as I eat in Brendan's often and have yet to be disappointed ! Wednesday and Thursday's have special deals on the evening menu which I look forward to trying! You should visit Brendan's to experience the food and atmosphere and I can assure You that you shall not be disappointed! And not forgetting the 3course Sunday lunch for only £10.00 sure where else would you get it!? Well done to Brendan's and their staff!

My husband and I had received a gift voucher for a meal for two in Brendans so we set out aroumd 5.30 pm to avail of our treat. When we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant. The decor was more like roadside cafe - in fact that might even be an insult to roadside cafes. I ordered lasagne with chips. There were 6 chips in a little basket and a fair sized piece of lasagne. The lasagne tasted like something bought from Lidl next door. It had no flavour and the mince was more like granules. My husband had chicken goujons and chips. They also tasted like they were bought from Lidl. Disappointment all round. Wont be back.

Visited Brendans now called The Globe restaurant in Downpatrick with collegues for a meal. Sorry to say my meal was just ok I ordered Seafood Chowder to be honest I was diappointed it was very salty and the majority of the seafood in it were mussels I found a couple of small prawns I would of liked more chunky seafood such as salmon or cod pieces. Next time I visit I will be trying a different dish.

Dropped into Brendan's whilst visiting family in Downpatrick. Luckily we'd booked a table as it was extremely busy. Had a three course Sunday lunch for £10. Turned out to be excellent value. Nice variety of food, soup starter was beautiful, roasts, salmon, chicken etc. Service was excellent, had a good bit of craic with serving staff. All 5 of us cleared out plates and really enjoyed it. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Had a really nice meal although we were the only four people in the restaurant. However before eight o'clock the tea lights etc were taken off the tables including our table (even though there was no candle in it) The final straw was when the fire was also put out. We finished our meal and took the hint and left.

This place is full of character and wonderful staff! The food was good - especially the southern fried chicken! The restaurant is right in the middle of Downpatrick and easily walkable from our hotel. Without a doubt would recommend stopping off at this place for lunch or dinner!

The food here is just vile. The potatoes looked like they were a week old and they use the same breaded chicken fillets for several dishes. I gave the chef the benefit of doubt and went back a second time as we all have off days. I really wish I hadn't as the food was still nasty. The only positive I could find in this place was the bar and waiting staff. They were all lovely friendly people who couldn't do enough for you. To be honest they are wasted in this sinking ship.

This is a great place for lunch food is wholesome and tasty looking forward to going again. The menu is varied with daily specials on the board. Very reasonable prices worth every a visit for families too very friendly staff.

Brendans Bar in Downpatrick does Classic Fayre at such affordable prices. The menu is varied to suit all tastes and all meals during week days are around £7.00 . Their courses cannot be beaten on price nor quality with varied specials every day. They also do cinema deals as well as byo wine after 5.00pm Mondays through 2 Saturday . Saturday afternoons also feature great music and crack from around 3.00pm. The staff bar and floor are fantastic. Sundays are advisable to be booked in advance as they are very busy but no wonder as 3 delicious courses are £10.00. Brendans is sure to be a hit so if U can get a table U shall not be disappointed. Great food and Great atmosphere! They deserve every success. I can hardly wait to go back.

Called into Brendans last Sunday. Its easy to miss this bar because its set back from the road but its worth looking out for. We had the soup, turkey and ham with mash, vegetables and roast potatoes followed by chocolate fuudge cake. All the food was excellent, hot, good portions and the service friendly. For two us with a glass of coke each the bill was around £23, now that's hard to beat!
