Long story short - an utter shambles and spoilt our day! No soup and no melon left no pigs in blankets but worst of all NO turkey! We waited and wasted almost 3 hours then left having had no food and lots of other customers doing the same, such a shame but complaints that have followed on different occasions suggests this venue may not survive

Upon entering I found the restaurant smelt fusty and not very welcoming. The young waiting staff were polite. The menu was poor not much choice and very old fashioned options available . I ordered the beef stroganoff which was bland no flavour at all literally was just like a pot of cream had been added to the beef in the pan. The veg was over cooked. The meal was edible but not enjoyable, a total waste of money. My partner ordered toad in the whole which stayed home made on the menu. The Yorkshire was flat and solid even the base clearly over cooked, veg majorly over cooked and the sausages average at best. We did mention that my partners meal was inedible to the waitress and asked to send it back. The manager ended up coming over and confessed it was a frozen Yorkshire and proceeded to waffle on about how experienced him And his wife were ( wife being the cook ) he also slid in a few swear words casually which I found very unprofessional. I wouldn’t return again I would have eaten a better meal at the local pub that doesn’t even do home cooked food ! We are lucky enough to be able eat out frequently and this is the worst local meal I’ve had from a restaurant.

Food was disgusting very dated presentation and managements attitude towards honest polite feedback is shocking. We are local and found the food poor and the experience far from enjoyable. We won’t be returning. It’s such a shame as it could be a lovely place to visit but it needs a good chef, management with an up to date approach and a new menu. If only people honest reviews were being listened to and the management learnt from what their customers are telling them.

First time visit to the 'Beeches Restaurant Scartho'' Wow, we were warmly greeted, and asked to choose any table were we would like, we chose to sit in the conservatory, we ordered our soft drinks at the bar as we were all driving. Once seated, we had a look at the menu, we all decided we would chose something from the mains menu and then choose from the sweet menu later, we ordered Beef Lasagne , Mushroom Stroganoff and Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni, all came with fresh garlic bread (amazing garlic butter), Lasagne and Cannelloni also had a side salad. Each meal was beautifully presented,), hot, (Lasagne and Cannelloni were in there individual dishes on the plate), flavoursome, and plentiful, suffice to say we didn't order from the sweet menu, as we all knew we would be able to do them the justice they deserved, going by the mains. Go with an appetite you won't be disappointed. We have a gem 'The Beeches Restaurant' within our community, somewhere to go and have lovely meal with friends, loved ones, or family. Give it a try, and support this gem of a restaurant, we will most certainly be returning very soon. Overall we give 10 out of 10 for: Greeting, warm and welcoming Service, never intrusive or overbearing Food choice, presentation, flavour, portion size Surroundings, beautiful Keep up the fabulous work, and compliments to the chef today, from the ladies that lunch.

Following an excellent review in the local paper took mum for lunch, unfortunately we had a very different experience. The Steak & Ale pie arrived and instead of crusty flaky pastry lid, pie had been nuked in microwave so was soggy dough and the filling congealed gloop at the bottom. The chips had obviously gone on a diet as they were not 'chunky' as per menu. The chicken had again been 'pinged' for too long making it rubbery. Server very quick to apologise and address offering the choice for alternatives. Tomato soup inedible and sandwich order was incorrect and I've never experienced soft ciabatta before and do not wish to again. Expensive for poorly microwaved food

New owners. Managers were lovely but clueless. They should offer less on the menu to enable better quality food to be prepared. The cook was even dissing her own food. Lumpy mash, tasteless food, microwaved cauli carrots and peas. Like something from the 70s. Service too slow , we had to tell the manager behind the bar how to make our drinks . Most definitely will not be back or recommending to anyone .

6 of us visited for Sunday Lunch. Really nice welcome by the new owners who I gather only took over a couple of months ago. There are plenty of parking spaces at the hotel / restaurant. The dining facility is made up of different areas including a conservatory. There was a normal set up of a carvery with a chef serving as required, choice of 3 roasts and as much veg as you want from a large selection. There is a good selection of desserts all really nice, we had sticky toffee and it was very light and very tasty. The carvery is a help yourself but if you have any difficulties they will serve you and bring it to the table.Drinks are available from the bar as required and you can just call in for drinks only if you wish. Decor was fine and the place was clean and tidy. The new owners are bringing this place back to where it should be in the ratings. We will return to sample the normal menu.

Nadie venía a ver. Friendly but lacking professionalism in nearly every area. Food was poor in presentation and quality for the price. Starters bought-in, all served with cheap white bread toast -seriously underwhelming; Salmon main course had to be re-cooked as it was overcooked 1st time round.. Side salad ordered with steak didn't arrive. Onion rings/garnish with Steak inedible. Ambience was odd, certainly not 'festive' no-one in particular greeting guestsOther tables had all ordered 'Afternoon Tea' at 1pm which looked copious - so much so that nearly everyone left with 'doggy bags'. Portions too big chef? £21/head for starter, main & 250ml glass of wine would be good value if the food quality and service were there to match- they weren't,so we wont be returning until things improve. Pity- as others have commented there is a demand in the area for a good, quality place to eat well and entertain at a reasonable cost.

I've been going to the Beaches for many years, 10 years ago you couldn't get a table on a Sunday unless you booked way in advance, it really was a special place to eat. Over the years it has gone downhill alarmingly, to the point that we didn't go anymore. This was due to the previous ignorant owner! However it's been taken over again and it's starting to get better.Firstly I will talk about the food. Starters are very nice £4.50/6.50ish and your given a reasonable serving. Around 6 options to choose from and all of them are nice. For the Main course on a Sunday you have the usual meats available apart from beef (it was on the menu) but told 15 minutes after ordering that it was not available and it was lamb instead (not on the menu). The food when it came after a rather long wait (50mins) was very good, almost worth the wait!! The veg was served on the plates which if I'm being picky I would have liked it to be served in a separate dish. But all our party said it was good and all plates were empty. The servings were average. The deserts were huge! Much bigger than anticipated, but again we're of a pretty good standard. Mostly around the £5 mark.Overall the food was good and it's easy to see that great strides have been made in the kitchen to deliver good tasty food to the customers.I dont want to say the service was bad, but it felt strange. We had to stand in the bar area for 5 minutes upon arrival before anyone greeted us (2 staff members saw us but just carried on doing whatever it was they were doing in the conservatory area). When they came through it felt like it was their first day in the job. Very nervous and unsure about everything. What is the soup of the day.... don't know!?!? What beer do you serve.... what do you mean?!?! What beer do you serve, i.e. Not larger.... dont think we sell any?!?! Food was dropped over one of the guests upon arrival at the table. A 50 minute wait for the main course and not apology or reason was given or even a 'sorry for the delay, the chef likes to make sure the food you ordered is perfect' or anything along those lines... just nothing. Took order for desert, then not bother with desert cutlery until after all deserts have been brought to the table, then still not bring enough out.Now I hope no one reads this and decides not to visit, because I think they are trying to make the place good again, but there are still areas that they can improve on enormously and I hope they get there. The venue inside is lovely, and we would return again in the future, there is huge competition in this sector so they need to up their game!

I so wanted this place to be a success- Grimsby needs good paces to eat- but unfortunately this doesn't make the grade... the manager was very friendly and helpful, and I wish him every success- but he needs to train his staff on delivering high service. Unused glasses, left on the table, to be collected, plates placed down carefully and correctly, remember who ordered what food- don't ask us- it's your job... write it down if you have too. People who ordered rare stakes were given the stakes that were ordered well done. We shouldn't have to swap our food. The chef served 2 more stakes well done instead of rare. These were returned- The manager agreed they were over cooked. He took the cost off the bill and had two new meals served- which were excellent.. The stakes themselves were tiny. I'm not a fan of glutinous large portions... but a fillet stake, at £15, should be thicker and larger..Please sort these things out because your attitude (the manager) is great and I'd love you to make a success of this restaurant

The Beeches seem to have spoilt something which really was very good. We visited in the summer, the restaurant and bar was packed, and the atmosphere was buzzing. We returned last night for cocktails with friends. However the restaurant was empty, bar one family eating. Service at the bar was sllooooww! But the main negative has to be the change in the cocktail offers. All Cocktails and craft beers used to be offered at £3 until 9pm. They have now changed this to finish t 7pm, and there is only a few drinks included. Huge mistake in my opinion, surely it is better to have a full, buzzing bar until 9, instead of an empty one with only a couple of people buying 1 or 2 drinks?Shame as they were on to a good thing, and something which was missing from the village.

Restaurant was very quite but service was good throughout the meal without being intrusive. We both had a gammon steak, egg and chips and what we got was very tasty. Chips were home made, egg and steaks were cooked well and it came with a very good mixed side salad. Wine list was again limited but well priced and the Sauvignon Blanc we had was very good. I think between 4pm and 9pm the wine is only £9 a bottle and cocktails £3 each so good value between these hours. We had a lemon cheesecake type dessert and that was superb, one of the best I have had anywhere for flavour. Both meals with main course and dessert each, plus a bottle of wine came to less than £40, I thought this was good value and I will use again.

Just returned from lunch at the Beeches with my grandparents which I would describe as a lovely experience. I was a little nervous as finding somewhere to suit them is not always an easy task; they like proper food cooked well & somewhere that the tables aren't crammed in... they were delighted with the Beeches! The food was great; tasty home cooked food. Staters - there was enough bread for the amount of pate & chutney. The red onion chutney was well balanced - not too sweet like some shop bought chutneys. The soup was delicious; thick & chunky and the mushrooms were a sizable portion in a rich creamy sauce. Mains - huge wholetail meaty scampi with hand cut chunky chips, the lasagne was full of beef with a portion of paprika coleslaw (which my grandpa described as out of this world!). My fiance had the chicken burger from the specials board which was tender. All dishes were a good portion and real value for money (about £50 for 4 soft drinks & 2 courses each). We also experienced great customer service; the waitress was polite and attentive but not over bearing. Well worth a visit in our opinion!

Amazing! The staff are all lovely and welcoming and the food was beyond amazing! Everyone in our party loved the food and couldn't fault anything, the value for money is incredible for the standard of food we received. All the staff made you feel welcome and at home too! We've already booked for a birthday meal in March- definitely looking forward to it! Loads of credit to the new chef and new manager ☺️ I can't recommend this place enough!

My husband and I went with my son and daughter in law and grandchildren for our Christmas dinner. We were all very exited as this was a first for all of us. What an awful experience we had. The food was very ordinary, not a patch on what you would expect any day of the week never mind a special meal like Christmas dinner. The time waiting for each course was unbelievable and we had to ask for the crockery to be removed each time. I could go on and on but suffice to say we all went home starving ,ready for some decent Christmas fare!! I did not complain on the day because I would not upset my family .I did however write a letter of complaint to the manager of this hotel and they have not had the decency to return my letter.

Reasonable food but no better than a good pub and 50% more expensive. Went on Saturday evening. Menu limited, no vegetarian selection . Few of the dishes on the website matched what was on the menu. Service poor. What a shame that a nice ambience and surroundings with nice decor and layout isn't matched by staff who have even a modicum of serving etiquette. Wrong wine delivered to table which we were left to unscrew and pour. No fish knives. No itemised bill. Left for ages with no one bothering to take away our plates after finishing our mains. Please Mr Owner, do give your staff some basic training, oh, and you really should yourself wear some appropriate smart attire when helping to serve instead of jeans and scruffy shirt!

We booked for afternoon tea for six people. Upon arrival had to hunt a member of staff to order a pre meal drink. One of the group had an alcohol free drink and was handed the bottle had to request a glass. Afternoon tea served in the conservatory hygiene a lot to be desired, think the table was really set up ready for breakfast. Not fancy China one expects, young chef tried to make the food attractive but less than we expected. Had to ask for tea which came in white teapots and the inside of the spouts were a disgrace. The patio area outside the conservatory was an absolute disgrace as was the ceiling blind, the carpet had not been hoovered for some time and we had to hunt for dessert forks . What a shame as this is local to us and could be a very pleasant facility if managed correctly.

I think it had crawled out of the freezer! Delayed service..not even a steak knife provided for the steak! No detail of what sides were to be served with mains! In a word..shocking! We have been to the beeches before for Sunday lunch but last time was a couple of years ago. My parents and I booked for my fathers birthday and arrived just before midday. We were asked to wait in the lounge by a gentleman who looked surprised that we were there! We sat and waited a few minutes and my father decided to go to the bar to buy our drinks. At this point a lady came over and took our drinks order, but didn't bring a menu. A few minutes later, a man brought us a menu but no drinks. When we did get our drinks, we were asked to move into the conservatory for our meals. We ordered salmon which looked nice but a small portion, beef which was ok but 3 small slices and pork which was fatty, both meals with watery gravy, a slice of parsnip and an extremely hard Yorkshire pudding. The vegetables - cauliflower, swede, carrot and broccoli were lovely. There was no stuffing with the roasts and my father asked for apple sauce with his pork, but they'd run out. This being the case, we remembered why we hadn't been for a couple of years and left! Such a shame as we all live within walking distance!

Booked a meal at The Beeches on a Sunday afternoon at 12.30 for 4 adults and 1 grandchild.First impressions very quiet and we were directed to the lounge to wait for our table. We ordered drinks one of which a lager was left on the Bar to retrieve myself after missing it for 5 minutes.Firstly be concerned when there is no soap in either of the 2 dispensers in the gents toilets. The orders were taken and we eventually were sat down at our table 45 minutes late.Pate arrived which was warm and the salad seen better days. This was mentioned to the waiter who informed me that my comments would be passed on to the chef. The main courses arrived 3 Roast beef dinners and 1 Salmon.Overall the mains were average nothing special and the sweets were fine.Another couple at a table nearby passed similar comments to ourselves in conversation. When we left the lady on the reception asked was everything ok with our meal, my wife replied regarding the above comments. The lady apologised and replied I know what you mean???We will not be eating there again.

We visited last Sunday using a Groupon voucher, the girl behind the bar was very friendly and took our drinks order and brought the menu's for us to choose. The menu was what you would expect for a traditional Sunday dinner. The starters were very nicely presented, but the main very traditional, it was cooked well apart from the yorkshire puddings being a little heavy, but it lacked that wow factor you would expect from this type of restaurant. The deserts were good and as nicely presented as the starters. Drinks were reasonably priced and the wine list was good, the malbec we opted for was nice and good value for a restaurant.Service was very good and the waitresses were helpful.

Waitress took it back to remove bone ,she fetched it back off the bone along with my beef .we sat anbnd waited for a minute expecting vegetables to arrive they never showed ,I had to find waitress and ask if we could have vegetables ! Also very small amount of gravy on plates had to ask for more .finally the beef was really chewy and not very nice ,when I mentioned it all I got was chef says he's sorry ! After looking at the menu on line we were all (6 of us) quite excited about going to the restaurant. No smiles or welcome on arrival. Menu's were brought to us but totally different to the ones online. We asked for fillet steak and were told 'yes of course we have fillet - sirloin fillet!!' No halibut, pork belly or pan fried lamb chump! None of the starters were available. We had mackerel which was dry and very uninteresting. One friend had goat's cheese en croute which was 'OK'. My husband and I ordered lamp shank off the given menu, there was only one left said the waitress. We settled for rib eye steak which was not cooked as we had requested. The chips were not even cooked - they were pale and soggy. Puddings that should have been hot, were served cold with cream when ice cream was ordered. This was a Saturday evening and the place not busy so no excuse for poor service and even worse quality food.We will not be returning!

The staff dealt with it well and service was good. The prices of the various meals and courses were an odd mix of reasonable to ambitious

My wife and I have dined at The Beeches with friends, family or colleagues quite a number of times since it opened back in the nineteen nineties, but we have never seen the restaurant as empty as this. It used to be popular with groups of doctors from the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, a walk or drive of about a Kilometre. We understand that there has been new management in the last twelve months or so since our previous visit four or five years ago. Possibly the date, January 3rd, played a part in the quietness, but the only other guest apart from our family party of seven seemed to be a solitary ship's captain who was waiting for the 4 a.m. tide, and a local couple who came for a drink with our cousins. The family circumstances of a long-delayed reunion meant that we were too busy to pay attention to the lack of other diners. Having said that we had the full attention of Darryl and his young lady assistant, and they looked after us well. Apart from one or two drinks at the bar, we got through a couple of bottles of crisp South African Chenin Blanc, and two bottles of quite drinkable Cotes du Rhone. My Seafood Gratin starter was nicely presented with good ingredients, other choices were a paté dish, soup and a small dish of scallops. My main course, a venison casserole was perfectly cooked, two of the party had decent sized, but slightly thinly cut sirloins steaks, appropriately cooked. The most popular choice was Sea Bass. In view of the date, they were unsurprisingly fairly small but multiple. and almost certainly frozen and farmed, but they were eaten with relish. Four or five years ago I introduced the previous owner to a professional fisherman friend, who in the season (May through August) catches wild Sea Trout and Salmon in the North Sea not twenty five Miles from Grimsby, and excellent wild Sea Bass all the year round. His prices are quite competitive and his fish would enhance the fare not only of the new management but that of most other restaurants. Some of us managed deserts and / or coffee. We all had a really good evening and the total bill including the various courses and drinks for seven came to a modest £220. The location in a pleasant residential area is excellent and I feel fairly confident that the new management have the will and ability to resurrect this hotel and restaurant. We inspected our cousin's accommodation and it seemed fine for a couple of night's visit. We will no doubt return as the occasion arises.

With there only being three of us this year, we decided to eat out for Christmas dinner and thought The Beeches would be a great way to do it. Afraid not! For starters (no pun intended), we didn't get the starter that we ordered as there 'was a problem', even though it was pre-ordered before hand, meaning we had to have something we didn't particularly want in replacement of it.Secondly, the 'traditional' Christmas dinner was by far the worse meal I have eaten for a long time (the local carvery would put the standard to shame). There was no real effort made. The vegetables were very bland and either incinerated to the point they were just mush or were undercook as if eating raw from the garden. I believe it was frozen and of a very low quality. The turkey - dry and very poorly carved - would have been of better use as a door wedge to keep out the draft in the dining room which was very cold when on Christmas Day you want to feel warm and festive. The stuffing was basically Paxo stuffing with a slight effort to disguise some chestnuts inside however pretty bland and tasteless. The roast potatoes I believe were pre cooked that just needed heating through and were not made from scratch. The meal was very rushed and we weren't asked if we would like to wait between courses. By the time dessert came (which had no problems just slightly too big a portion) the three of us were in low spirits so couldn't really eat any of it. All in all there was no attention to detail or the standards of a Christmas meal you expect. Whole baby carrots with their tops on, rich flavours, crunchy sprouts with bacon lardons, roast potatoes cooked in goose fat... when paying £50 per head our expectations were rather high and were far from met! Never again will we eat out on Christmas Day or ever go back here to eat.

Booked a Saturday night in December for 8 people and was really looking forward to it as we had been many times before. The starter was ok although they just put loads of the cheap salad on the plate, the one which costs a quid in supermarket, very poor. Main meals were out instantly with no gap between dishes, and these were just dreadful. The mains had obviously been waiting so were cold, the belly pork was not crispy and just plain fatty, the steaks cooked wrong and literally sat on a plate of green beans, some variety would have been nice thanks, and the stuffing mmmm NOT NICE, I have had far better at a carvery. Truly a terrible meal and will NEVER GO AGAIN.

We visited The Beeches Brasserie as a party of four for a celebration meal. We were surprised to find that on a Saturday night we were the only people in the restaurant, which unfortunately meant a lack of atmosphere. Whilst the food was edible, it certainly wasn't good and there were some strange combinations amongst the veg offerings. Despite the fact that we were on a 2:1 ratio with the waiting staff, our food had clearly been left on the pass for quite some time before it arrived at our table as it was cool and a skin had formed on all of our sauces. We ordered wine in the bar area before going through to the table and it didn't arrive at the table until after we finished our starters.Overall, we felt disappointed after the great things that we had heard about the Brasserie and the celebrations were dampened by our experience.
