Boundary in Bolsover

I wondered why there was only half a dozen people in restaurant section on a sunday lunch when all the other pub restaurants were fully booked, and soon found out why. The staff were very pleasant but the sunday roast was very disappointing. Beef was fine but roast potatoes were weird egg shaped things, probably straight from freezer. Regularly have other nice food from here but i won't be having sunday roast again.

Large free parking, spacious space and good atmosphere.

Go to local boozer. We come in most Fridays for a drink or two. Welcoming staff and never any trouble. Lovely family and community atmosphere.

Went for lunch here....what a delight....just how pub food used to be. Barcstaff very friendly and welcoming. Price was also good...lowest we've seen in a pub.....for better quality also.....

Food took a long time to come over 30mins, wasn’t made aware of any delay on food it was 12 midday and only around 4 tables of diners in. I ordered first out of all on my table and my food came out last and made me late back to work on my lunch hour. Food ok but wait not really acceptable for amount of diners in.

Stayed at hotel which was really good, clean, no noise , easy to access. Even the cleaning staff in hotel were really pleasant and polite also everybody in the bar was helpful polite apart from the one arrogant woman with the red hair looking everybody up and down and speaking to the young bar staff like crap. Everything else was excellent and I will definitely coming back.

Always clean & lovely environment. Meals are nice. Staff always welcoming & friendly. We visit mainly on Sunday evenings and never have to wait long for our meals 😄

Drink in here regularly. Prices are very high but you wouldn't mind if the beer was good quality. The beer was good but the glasses seemed very dirty. Lots of bubbles collecting round the glass. Bar stuff were very friendly. Taylor was excellent. Why is there no option to rate the beer

Food is great! My mother loves the lunch club with the smaller portion. Staff are friendly and always make us feel welcome. Found out they have a dog friendly section so very excited to bring mine along next time

We booked to stay one night. We had an excellent meal (pie / scampi) and enjoyed the quiz (Thursday is quiz night). We found the Boundary to be very friendly and welcoming. Will certainly recommend it.

Taneesha is an extremely capable and personable manager (I assume) who knows how to give us the welcome we like to have (even when unknown to her, as I was). I didn’t hesitate to eat and drink and she is a credit to Marstons. Despite being busy and also helping the staff, she checked back regularly around the room and frankly seems to be someone I would always like to have on my team. I heard she’s leaving the Boundary soon for another and wish her well. I stayed, so my overall spend was quite high (sole traveler.)

The Sunday roast was nice, but it was that small I don't even know I've eaten it I'm still starving. I had 1.5 roast potatoes, 2 bits of carrot a tiny bit of mash 27 peas (I counted them Im autistic and I hate odd numbers so that pissed me off) and I had to ask for extra gravy because it looked like they're ww2 rations servings. The portion of mash I ate in 1 in 1 mouthful and the dentist said I've got a really small mouth I've had 11 teeth out my mouth is that small. The Yorkshire was nice huge, in fact the entire meal was hidden under it it was that big and the rest of the portions were that small. It felt like a kids meal and I could have eaten 3 of them and still be hungry.

Not great for gluten free! Menu is difficult to understand as had to go online to find dietary requirements. Food was ok but incredibly basic. No gluten free bun for the burger but just told that when the food was served. Kids food was basic and portion was relatively small.

Great service and very friendly staff, we did not have a long wait for the food to arrive, we had both picked the steak and ale pie and our server said it is a fantastic tasting pie and he was right would highly recommend and we'll be back.

I've been to the boundary a couple of times The food is always great and I've been in a group. Always friendly staff and will definitely be coming again. A very great range of different drinks. Kids friendly can stay until 9 30 pm You can also bring your dog.

Went here for the first time last Monday for lunch. The food was very good and great service. I will deffinatley be back!

Went in after playing on park and got asked if i had a parent with me but all I wanted is the toilet but he kept asking me if I had a parent. I said no then he asked me to leave the pub .

I got kicked out for going toilet alone and u have to be 18 to have water I will not recommend this pub FIND A GOOD PUB

absolutely disgusting food horrible staff rude tried to come here with family member's.my daughter rang me up crying because they wouldn’t let her go to the toilet and she was on her period never come here again!

I visited this pub for Sunday lunch , we ordered our food at 12 noon and it took till 12.30 to arrive. Even though it took half an hour to arrive, when it did half of the dinner was cold like it had been stood in the kitchen. I did complain and it was microwaved briefly. The dinner was only then luke warm. I would avoid this pub if u like warm food!

Been going here for many years for food and a drink always Happy with service But tonight was very disappointing Order food at 6pm got food at 7.15pm . Steak was over done No apologies for the delay. No Happy will not be rushing back

A very quiet pub for lunchtime meal with colleagues but we couldn't have a warmer welcome from (presumably) The manager and the lunchtime special menu was perfect.

I booked my wedding here on 15th June 2024 and it was the best day of my life, The staff at The Boundary were amazing nothing was too much they were so helpful, friendly and professional. Imogen looked after me as soon as I got there and made sure everything was perfect and it was. If you are looking at getting married I highly recommend The Boundary at South Normanton.

I was using the attached hotel for a business trip so it made sense to eat at The Boundary. Great welcome at the bar from Taneesha and Briony. Food ordered and a Pepsi Max. Euro's were on and I had a table with a great view. Fish, chips amd footie. Winning! My meal was served within 20 minutes which was perfect. The fish was huge! It filled and overhung (a little) the plate. It was beautifully battered. Not too thick and perfectly crunchy. The fish was cooked amazingly. The flesh flaked yet had a wonderful creamy texture. Add in mushy peas and chips, the Boundary served a British classic with pride! Well done to the chefs and the pub team. 👍👏👏👏

Had the one of the best steaks I’ve had in a very long time. Cooked to perfection! Was thankful I had room for dessert as the salted caramel cookie brownie is not to be missed! Lovely atmosphere and wonderful friendly staff! Mel is particular was very kind, welcoming and considerate of our parties needs.

The service was really good. The prices were affordable. Improvement: the steak and ale pie was cold in the middle - needs to be piping hot, luckily it's beef so not harmful. Will definitely return to try out the pie again.

There is a hotel to stay in next door to the pub and we got some offers from Marston's. We all enjoyed our food.

It was a disaster! We have been many times and never had an issue but yesterday was terrible! My Father asked if they were cold water prawns and the waitress advised she was sure they were but would check with the chef, who confirmed they were but they definitely weren't! My Father had hunters chicken which had no cheese, my fries were cold and my partners chips were not cooked! We were also waiting 40 mins between our starters and mains. We told the waitress who refunded the hunters chicken and chips. This was a celebration for my son's 12th birthday and it spoilt it to be honest. We would think twice about returning, which is a shame as we have visited a lot as you're our local.

App for ordering food works very well. Food and drinks are at a reasonable price. Service was good.

Steak was a lump of tasteless fat and gristle and cremated asked for medium to well .chips hard n dry also tasteless some mushrooms okay others dry wrinkley and overcooked , This was our first and last time will not go again

Had wait a very long time for food and we waited 10 minutes to order a drink at the bar it was a Friday night with great weather and there was 2 members of staff on food wernt bad but steak was very tough chips were great good atmosphere as alwase we don’t alwase eat here I no why now but good place to drink we go every Friday

Worst Sunday lunch in 2yrs brought main meal b4 starters then returned it kitchen when brought back after starters it had been reheated half roast chicken was burnt other parts where cold.Staff need more training or xtra chef.s

Staff not immediately apparent but very hospitable as soon as we met. Food was fine, especially the desserts that were delicious. Nothing wrong at all...just a tad slow and the food cooled quite quickly. May well come again.

Not a bad little hotel. The rooms are what they are. The bar is vibrant, busy, and well stocked. Update, this place is still a grand little spot. I've stayed here a couple of times a year, and it is consistent. The rooms are always spotless, the food is grand and the beer is great.

Food was good. Service was excellent. Room was warm, dry and comfy on a dark wet miserable evening. Table and chairs were clean. Enough people in to give the place some life, but still plenty of tables to choose from. All good stuff.

Absolutely appalling customer service. I was the only person at the bar and while 5 staff were talking among themselves. Waited around 5 minutes then asked a manager/supervisor if it was a pub and whether there was any chance of buying a beer. Was told to wait as he was doing his management handover. Personally, I would have thought that the art of management might have been to ask the staff to serve the customer instead of standing round chatting. Waited 5 minutes then left. Silly me, I thought pubs were places that welcomed customers and served beer!!! How wrong am I! Apparently they're places where staff get paid to chat to each other and ignore customers!!!!
