Stayed for a week at Boundary Normanton very friendly couldn't do enough for you massive thank you to Scott who was their to help me out a few times, rooms very clean and comfortable all staff brilliant can't wait to book here again.

Went there as a big group with children and dogs made to feel welcome, great place for family get togethers

I stopped in for some good ol’ pub food on my way up to Leeds last Thursday evening. I had the mozzarella & cheddar bites to start and the 8oz gammon steak for main as it just so happened to be steak night. The portion sizes were generous and the food was delicious. I was able to have double egg with my gammon as I’m not a fan of warm pineapple. I asked the kind waitress for the name of the chef that night to leave a fantastic review. Thank you to all the staff for the lovely service and especially chef Dom for the excellent food

Freshdrives is an excellent source for food and they hit it out the park once again. The food, the service and my lord, the atmosphere is decadent. I will recommed Boundary to all my mates.

Sat at table 12 had a jacket potatoe with nachos to share. What can I say the food here is lovely the piri piri chicken on the spud was nice flavourful and tender. The atmosphere is great not too loud and no roudy customers lol. Got served by Briony who was fantastic. Great service all round with lovely food and atmosphere. What more can you ask?

Honest review. Positive - Great pub with a great atmosphere and staff are always friendly and good for children, also has a nice garden with a play area in the summer. Car park is big enough for plenty of parking with 4 EV charging bays. Negative - Never enough staff on the bar and they always look overworked. Marstons prices are outrageously expensive and never enough clean glasses assuming due to lack of staff. For £6.15 I’d expect my drink in the correct glass. London prices in a Derbyshire village, you would think they might invest those profits back into their staff.

Just been to the Boundary I would it's my local. Since the refit it's very very nice good selection of beers the food so far has been really good,busy bar good staff brilliant management long my it continue

This was our first time here and had a lovely lunch. We received a friendly welcome and found the menu to have many dishes including Vegetarian at reasonable prices and good portions. We will definitely return again.

I thought that all the staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble. The onduty manager was very respectful and courteous. The pricing were reasonable and the quality of meals served to us deserve 5⭐️ Everywhere within the pub was clean and tidy with tables being cleared and straightend. Overall, a really nice dining experience.

We got served very promptly after arrival, we got seated for dining easily and food arrived within 10-15 minutes of ordering, we even had a voucher code provided for 30% off of the price of our mains which was lovely. The food was excellent as always and cooked to perfection.

Visited several times. They never have good availability of items on the menu. Popped in on a Wednesday for 1 pint at 10:30 to be told they've stopped serving. There's much better places in south normanton.

It was very busy but I had an incident where I ordered food and drink and the payment came out twice and the order went through twice. I went straight to the bar and they were so helpful and sorted it out immediately. Unfortunately double drinks came to the table in the meantime. I took 2 back but was given them on the house which was very kind. Staff so welcoming and friendly!

We were part of a large group (around 40) who had booked and preordered our meals for the evening of January 1st. Very pleased with the service, staff and the food. Well done!

Visited New Year’s Day, table of 7 with two young children. Food was very enjoyable and the service was very friendly and efficient - even with us being a slightly difficult table, with a two year old crying over corn on the cob…. But the patience of both the FOH and BOH team is greatly appreciated. First time visit and would be happy to come again. Thank you Boundary Team.

We came here Boxing Day for the festive menu. We had pre booked and ordered there was 6 of us never been before. When we arrived told there was a 45 min wait !!! There was no one in the pub. !!! We waited the starters eventually arrive. Wasn’t has advertised. We asked for knife and forks Told to help ourselves. Only 4 forks no knives 45 mins later. Still no main course. Plates not taken away. Now 4pm. Been there 2hrs. Asked to speak to someone. Said mains wouldn’t be long. This was a joke We complained. Asked for refund. Walked out. Spoilt our Boxing Day. Will not return 🤬

Just spent Christmas day here and it was lovely, my family had a wonderful evening . So much better in the main area , didn't rate the back large room 5 years ago totally not a nice atmosphere. But this year we can't thank the staff and service enough . Brilliant xx

Absolutely abysmal breakfast with Santa. Firstly walk in and there’s no one directing or seating people, despite pre booking about a month ago. Paid £10 for a breakfast that is normally £2.50, absolutely zero choice of breakfast for the children. My daughter is allergic to milk, I asked for some alternative milk for her to have a bowl of cereal to be told the only milk they have is semi skimmed, meaning my daughter had dry cereal. Same for butter for toast, no alternative butter so she had dry toast which of course she didn’t eat. Then on to the Santa portion, all he did was sit at one table, not even within eye sight from our table, then went and sat by a Christmas tree for a photo. The elf was lovely and chatty, but Santa however didn’t say a single word to my child the whole time we were there. Again, the gift for the child was a £1 chocolate selection bag, which my daughter is allergic to and cried when I told her she couldn’t eat them. Ordered myself, partner and mums breakfast online, only my mums breakfast came. When my partner went to ask where our breakfasts and his coffee were, the staff argued with him and told him we’d already had it! Even though it was clear on the table that there weren’t enough plates for us all. Eventually agreed to be refunded, it was either that or wait for 15 minutes, we’d already been there over an hour at that point and my partner had somewhere to be. Got some of our money back only for the breakfasts to arrive 5 minutes later! Obviously poor communication between the front of house team and kitchen. The continental breakfast was poor too. No bread, juice, butter or Nutella for almost our entire visit, and the selection was really poor too. Also the manager seemed to have gotten confused and thought it was being your young child to work with you day, really unprofessional. We definitely won’t be booking this again next year and I suggest you don’t advertise it either as you’ll only end up with another lot of disappointed families.

We had our works Christmas Party, we had a 3 course sit down meal. The staff where brilliant, very helpful and polite. I would recommend The Boundary for functions. The bonus also being that they have rooms in the Hotel.

Great venue and prefect for the party. The team were brilliant and very helpful.

All the guys and gals were extremely helpful. Good food menu albeit some dishes were unavailable which is absolutely fine, i had the Ultimate Spicy beef burger, the chef Dom advised there was no pulled pork available, he said he can do Piri chicken. What a fantastic result, this worked so well with the jalapeño's One of the best burgers i have had in years. Highly recommend for the menu. Thanks Dom 👍

Really nice experience family and dog friendly pub I enjoyed the vibes there also good fun with the darts and pool table. Nice staff especially the barmaid called Lauren she was really canny. The manager was kind too nice gentleman. Definitely coming back when I come back to Alfreton.

Hidden gem been here twice in the last few weeks both times the meals have been spot on the steak was the best steak I've had in a very long time. Can't fault the food at all. We returned for our family Christmas get together and had a lovely meal thankyou. Nov 2024 I booked a family meal for 15 of us on arrival no seating was reserved for us, so we started moving tables together so we could all sit together no member of staff came over to us just stood there watching us moving tables and chairs. Then when I went to the bar to be served no one was there then a member off staff walked pasted me so I stood there for a few more minutes then the same staff member came back to serve me which wasn't great. We ordered food and asked if it could all come at the same time as we'd ordered separately this was fantastic and the food was excellent we had a lovely meal and family get together even though of the the couple of issues.

Enjoyed the location of the hotel compared to the pub, and appreciated the nearby parking. Ordered a meal from the pub and took to my room - the staff were really helpful at offering options for either takeaway boxes or a plate. Room was very clean and very spacious - really liked it. Checkout was easy and everyone I engaged with was friendly and helpful.

I wondered why there was only half a dozen people in restaurant section on a sunday lunch when all the other pub restaurants were fully booked, and soon found out why. The staff were very pleasant but the sunday roast was very disappointing. Beef was fine but roast potatoes were weird egg shaped things, probably straight from freezer. Regularly have other nice food from here but i won't be having sunday roast again.

Go to local boozer. We come in most Fridays for a drink or two. Welcoming staff and never any trouble. Lovely family and community atmosphere.

Went for lunch here....what a delight....just how pub food used to be. Barcstaff very friendly and welcoming. Price was also good...lowest we've seen in a pub.....for better quality also.....

Food took a long time to come over 30mins, wasn’t made aware of any delay on food it was 12 midday and only around 4 tables of diners in. I ordered first out of all on my table and my food came out last and made me late back to work on my lunch hour. Food ok but wait not really acceptable for amount of diners in.

Stayed at hotel which was really good, clean, no noise , easy to access. Even the cleaning staff in hotel were really pleasant and polite also everybody in the bar was helpful polite apart from the one arrogant woman with the red hair looking everybody up and down and speaking to the young bar staff like crap. Everything else was excellent and I will definitely coming back.

Drink in here regularly. Prices are very high but you wouldn't mind if the beer was good quality. The beer was good but the glasses seemed very dirty. Lots of bubbles collecting round the glass. Bar stuff were very friendly. Taylor was excellent. Why is there no option to rate the beer

We booked to stay one night. We had an excellent meal (pie / scampi) and enjoyed the quiz (Thursday is quiz night). We found the Boundary to be very friendly and welcoming. Will certainly recommend it.

Taneesha is an extremely capable and personable manager (I assume) who knows how to give us the welcome we like to have (even when unknown to her, as I was). I didn’t hesitate to eat and drink and she is a credit to Marstons. Despite being busy and also helping the staff, she checked back regularly around the room and frankly seems to be someone I would always like to have on my team. I heard she’s leaving the Boundary soon for another and wish her well. I stayed, so my overall spend was quite high (sole traveler.)

The Sunday roast was nice, but it was that small I don't even know I've eaten it I'm still starving. I had 1.5 roast potatoes, 2 bits of carrot a tiny bit of mash 27 peas (I counted them Im autistic and I hate odd numbers so that pissed me off) and I had to ask for extra gravy because it looked like they're ww2 rations servings. The portion of mash I ate in 1 in 1 mouthful and the dentist said I've got a really small mouth I've had 11 teeth out my mouth is that small. The Yorkshire was nice huge, in fact the entire meal was hidden under it it was that big and the rest of the portions were that small. It felt like a kids meal and I could have eaten 3 of them and still be hungry.

Not great for gluten free! Menu is difficult to understand as had to go online to find dietary requirements. Food was ok but incredibly basic. No gluten free bun for the burger but just told that when the food was served. Kids food was basic and portion was relatively small.

Great service and very friendly staff, we did not have a long wait for the food to arrive, we had both picked the steak and ale pie and our server said it is a fantastic tasting pie and he was right would highly recommend and we'll be back.

I've been to the boundary a couple of times The food is always great and I've been in a group. Always friendly staff and will definitely be coming again. A very great range of different drinks. Kids friendly can stay until 9 30 pm You can also bring your dog.
