A friendly micropub serving cask and keg alcoholic beverages. A good selection of cans and bottles. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The feline decorations in the toilet are a must see

We were fortunate enough to go to Bottle and Barrel on a lovely, of chilly, day in early February. The staff were lovely, the beer selection fantastic and the atmosphere welcoming. Highly recommend a trip, if you’re anywhere near around.

Absolutely fantastic bar. Stocking all typed of beer - the vast array of choice is testament to the wide range of breweries operating in Wales. Zac has created a bubble of beery perfection here in Aberystwyth. Happy to provide samples of beer that take your interest, and a great knowledge to inform your choice. Cannot recommended the place enough.

Good selection of non alcoholic beers, including one on draught. Smelled too much of beer, though, which stopped us from staying for a pint.

Brilliant place, terrific range of beers, extremely friendly service. The owner helped us with beer choices, then with our young baby's bottle. Bella the pub dog was very friendly and the whole experience was top class. Once you drink here, you won't drink anywhere else in Aberystwyth

The choice of beers is large and local. Very helpful bartender. Would come back to Aberystwyth just for trying the twin bar.

Visited here almost every day of our weeks holiday. Fantastic range including loads of great local breweries and perfectly kept cask. All of the staff we encountered were really friendly very knowledgeable and an absolute credit to the place. We most certainly did not feel like tourists ;-) Cheese board was brilliant value too. Excellent options for drink in/takeout including some epic local ciders. Big thumbs up!

Didn't eat in there but great place to drink

Like having a drink at a friend's house. Excellent selection of ales, including locally produced mead. We ordered food from Jonahs fish kitchen opposite which was delivered to our table. Will definitely be paying a visit in the future.

Looks like it could be good (CAMRA recommended etc.) but my initial experience was being told it was closed when I visited at 10:38 yesterday evening. Thanks for the response, owner. I was aware of the 11pm closing time but not of the 10:30pm stop-serving time, nor have I seen any notices in social media or elsewhere informing of the latter. If there was one in the window I would've missed it anyway as I was in a hurry. Either way, it's a dramatic departure from the standard "last orders at 10-20 minutes before closing time" protocol. Admittedly I don't visit pubs as often as I used to so perhaps this protocol isn't widely followed anymore. I'll reconsider this review at some point.

Fantastic craft beer bar, probably my favourite beer bar in Wales. The menu is perfectly curated with a good selection of Welsh breweries you might not have heard of before. Staff are fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable. There used to be a dog but I haven't seen him recently. If you're visiting Aberystwyth it's a place you can't miss

It is absolutely a great place to stop for some decent beer and cider options. Friendly and welcoming staff, Bella the Dog was a great addition and super chill and friendly.

Excellent micropub selling an impressive variety of keg, cask and bottled craft ales and other craft drinks. Their current selection can be previewed on Untappd. Friendly and helpful staff. Tasters on request. Though there is background music this is the quieter version of the two pubs these people run, the other being the Bank Vault. No food on the premises but at certain times of day you can order for food to be brought to you from a nearby seafood restaurant.

Great selection of beers and knowledgeable staff who took the time to let my (rather fussy!) partner try a couple of options before deciding what to have. Definitely worth a visit!

Found this pub tucked down a back street, must of walked 🚶‍♀️passed it so many times but won't again. Lots of craft beer to choose from, had the white chocolate and caramac pale ale 🍺

Bottle and Barrel, along with Bank Vault, are destination bars for us, coming down from Lancashire they are a welcome craft oasis in a desert of bland pubs. Awesome beer and great ambience

A massive choice of ales with a friendly atmosphere. Also the added bonus that you can order food from the Jonahs cafe on the adjacent corner. Really enjoyed it. What a great place; a diamond in the rough! Great selection of craft beers, something for all tastes. Great to see students in there, not just old fogies like me. Also a mention for Cegin Jonah's Kitchen over the road. They will deliver great takeaway while you enjoy your beer.

Can't go wrong with Bottle and Barrel. Not only is there the most incredible selection of really decent craft beers, ciders and mead, but it's also just such a great place to be. Warm atmosphere in a lovely space, very comfy and dog friendly. Bring your own food or order with the delicious fish restaurant over the road. Bottle shop to take beers home with you too. Above all run by a friendly and helpful team. A must visit for anyone in Aber.

Fabulous place for an incredible selection of craft beers, cider, wine and spirits from Wales and elsewhere. Such nice people! And check out their sister venue, The Bank Vault, where you can listen to live music several nights a week.

Very impressed with this place. Having grown up in Aber and returning for a visit I was SHOCKED to see that a cafe I frequented 15 years ago has been turned into a BOOZER. Fantastic expertise and a homely feel, they've got an ever changing roster of beers, featuring plenty of small Welsh breweries. Also a great spot to avoid tourists during the summer holidays.

A great little pub with an ever changing list of beers on tap. If you're not a big beer/ale drinker you may find the place a bit niche - they do sell other drinks but beer is definitely their focus.
