A large station buffet with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. It can get very busy after a train pulls in. Prices are good and the menu varied. The food is brought to your numbered table. You can settle up at the end of your meal. Good portions and well cooked given how busy they must be in the kitchen. The coffee was nice and strong. Lots of free parking nearby.

Just in the right place at the right time. The Station Buffet was welcoming, waiting to feed a hungry bunch of train travellers who made their way to the Station Buffet ready for a good meal. We were not disappointed. Here, the Kids are King, and a very carefully thought out kids menu was welcomed and appreciated both by kids and parents. The parents were well catered for too, fish and chips with mushy peas hit the spot. Prices were good and the menu had quite a selection of hot and cold food, snacks or even ice cream. Service was quick considering the influx of travellers and I was very grateful to Katie who served us and checked on a food allergy for me. She was very kind, pleasant and nothing seemed a bother. The Station buffet was clean, plus being cleaned instantly as diners left their table. I was amazed that even after having to clean up after so many families Katie was still smiling, and quietly getting on “with the job.” Catering isn’t an easy job and I did think at times that I was part of many other families’ celebrations as the atmosphere was happy, noisy, joyful and messy! Such a good place to be and see families enjoying good food in a clean happy environment. Well done Station Buffet Team!

We were in Scotland during the October half term and this coffee shop was so, so busy. But this didn't stop them from delivering good food and good service. Would certainly recommend this to any friends and family. Your order is delivered to your table.

We popped in to the Station Buffet for lunch after a very enjoyable trip on the steam train. We had four adults and two children (only one ate). My child had one of the hot kids meals, which was chicken nuggets (4) and chips. This came with a Fruit Shoot, a bag of crisps of choice (we chose Quavers) and a wee bag of Haribo. She was delighted! And for just over a fiver, so were we. Three of the adults in the party opted for toasties, which came with a fresh salad, coleslaw and chips. The toasties were roasting and well filled and the salad was very fresh and delicious. The other adult went for a tuna sandwich on brown bread. We also had to get a bowl of chips. To say we were all very impressed is an understatement. The food was exactly what it said on the tin; and very good quality. Anybody visiting the Bo’Ness railway I can’t recommend the Station Buffet highly enough. We saw some of the other hot meals coming out too (fish and chips, burgers) and they also looked great.

We have been here several times whilst visiting the railway. I believe it is run by a separate outside company to the railway. When we went in on Saturday there was a large sue of people, a think a train had recently arrived. The two girls were working hard to get the que down however there just seemed to be too much for them to do with the cafe being full. Not helped by railway staff getting preferential treatment at a side window. The good and drinks were a bit on the expensive. Two pound ten pence for a mug of tea, really, hot water and a tea bag, come on? I had the fish of the day chill this chicken yorkshire pud and chips which was tasty was also good value. It was good but I waited forty minutes for it by which time the last train had gone. I shall return to the railway but not to its cafe.

Options for all and well priced, quick service of hot food by friendly staff. Worth nipping in and also supports the railways funds for restorations.

Took our three Grandchildren in here while waiting on the train, was shocked at the price of a packet of pom bear crisps (very small) £1. I returned to the cash desk as i thought i had been overcharged but no said it was the right price ! The children enjoyed it they had hot dogs . Would go back again but i would definitely not buy crisps .

This is a welcome retreat after the “train journey”, Around the walls are memorabilia, photographs and items of railway interest to look at after you have had your snack. The kiddies meals are typical, but adequate and well cooked. The soup was delicious, and the selection of cakes was scrummy!

Basic standard cafe fare but cooked to a very good standard. Staff helpful and attentive. The food is modestly priced so you can enjoy without feeling as if you were a captive customer.

Does what it says on the tin - a good range of things to eat and drink at a reasonable price. It's not haute cuisine, but you can get a decent bite to eat whilst you wait for your train/relax after your journey.

So much about here is really good but a few things let it down. Most of the staff are lovely but there is one lady who is rude and patronising. Has a terrible habit of scowling, being negative and unhelpful and then calls you “hunny”. Service can be slow and food can take a while when busy but everything is cooked to order and delicious when it arrives. Toilets are tiny and wash hand basins difficult to use. On the whole well worth a visit and fingers crossed that one of the lovely friendly staff members serves you.

I did not enjoy the experience. I complained ( perhaps incorrectly) that my steak was undercooked. I was embarrassed by the experience. I won’t be back. Very poor hospitality.
