Bombay Lounge in Midlothian

Ordered a delivery on Friday evening, bit of a wait but that was expected, we’ve ordered in the past with no problems and the food was always great. However this time the order was not complete and it’s was cold.

Lovely food, although could have done with more King prawns in my dish

ordered at 17:02 delivery was for 18:10, changed to 19:00-19:20. phoned at 19:38 and was told food was just leaving the kitchen, arrived at 19:49 freezing cold. in the microwave to heat up. Don't believe that ordering at 17:02 would make it a nearly 3hour delivery !!

Definitely the best Indian restaurant in Dalkeith. Brilliant children’s menu!

Delivery by a lovely smiling young woman told me to enjoy my meal and have good evening. My meal was delicious and hot as always.

order late and missing items. 2.5 hours for a delivery. missing items. Phoned restaurant for order update as taking so long apparently phoned driver. 3x didn't even get a call back stating what was happening and where my order actually was. WONT BE ORDERING AGAIN!!

The food was an hour and 30 minutes late. We tried to phone so many times and it kept going straight to the answer machine. When the food arrived it was cold and very poor quality.

Quality of food was great. No complaints there. However, we ordered at 6pm with an estimated delivery time of 80 minutes. We took our chances. Sadly (infuriatingly!) it arrived nearly FOUR hours later!! I left multiple voice messages as the number went straight to voicemail. No way of contacting them. Such a shame really as the food was tasty. No apology. Nothing. The poor delivery driver was getting it all night from customers. Not his fault. Come on Bombay Lounge, you can do better!

Food was freezing, took two hours to come and the restaurant don’t answer the phone

Food ordered on app 1600, delivery for 1845. 1900 App stated out for delivery. 1930 requested text update, No reply. Phoned restaurant several times when answered staff said it would be any minute but agreed to phone driver and phone me back. They did not. 1945 phoned and after being fobbed off spoke to the manager who kept saying out for delivery. After checking told me 30 mins. No apology. After 30 mins reported No delivery through App. Arrived cold 15 mins later.

3hrs and 30mins late and staff super unhelpful and full on lying about it being out for delivery.

Had a fantastic meal, their keema rice was brilliant.

Second time my order has been late. Waited 1 hour and 1/2. Tried to call the restaurant no answer

Chicken pakora was very dry really needed the sauce to be able to swallow it, which was mentioned to the waiter. Wine outside was advertised at from £16.95 but nothing on menu at this price all starting at £20 upwards! Was then told by waiter house wine at £18.50 but when bill arrived it showed up at £20!

this is the 3rd time I have ordered from here with food missing and cold every single time

I have had food from here before that I collected and it is excellent. My first time ordering for a delivery and quoted 1.5 hours delivery time. 2 hours later I phone to ask where the order is and told it's not in the kitchen yet! Great food. Service bad. I am glad I opted for COD. Order cancelled and a cheese piece getting made.😠🤬

Never had a bad meal here and all the staff are very knowledgeable and can help you pick the right meal. Large selection of drinks including my favourite cobra on draft.

Best Indian cuisine and dining experience. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Rice, curry & nan cold. Really disappointed as normally it’s piping hot. Had to reheat in microwave which isn’t the same.

Bombay Lounge in Dalkeith is quite honestly back to its best. Multi-award winning and rightly so! From the popadoms with lime pickle, spiced onions and yoghurt sauce entrée to the vegetable pakora and minced lamb samosa starters that leave your taste buds dancing! And then comes the main event?! The sizzling chicken tikka main with extra bowl of karahi sauce and chicken jalfrezi unlike any I’ve ever tasted before! Nom nom! The service and the ambiance are also top class! Unfortunately for my waistline, as Armie says, I’ll be back?!

I didn’t get a message to say it was ready until I was home for about 15 mins , this happens frequently. This time we were missing all the condiments and sauces for the starters

Can’t usually fault Bombay Lounge but this time the ‘usual’ curry didn’t taste the same as it usually does. The sauce wasn’t as fragrant / flavoursome as usual and the lamb tasted dry/old. Naan bread was also burnt on the bottom and soggy / cold on arrival. As a regular customer, this was the first disappointing offering from them.

Chicken Tikka was missing from the order. Phoned up and said could return to collect but the rest of the order would be going cold 🤷‍♂️ said we will have it added next time instead, so let’s hope they remember. Otherwise the rest of the order was great as always.

Delivered well over 2 hours after ordering. It was actually delivered at 19:25, not 18:25 as claimed.

3 HOURS FOR DELIVERY Placed an order for delivery (£130) was warned that delivery may take up to an hour and a half. 2 hours went past I phoned the restaurant to get an update on my order. I was told it would be with me in the next 15 to 20 minutes a further half an hour past phone the restaurant again I was told I would be contacted within five minutes. 15 to 20 minutes later, I phoned again to complain as no one had contacted me and now we had reached the three hour mark. The family member I had round had to take there dinner home as they had a taxi booked Extremely disappointed especially when the order was £130 Overall very poor service and would not recommend to anyone

Still not arrived, had to telephone, order not started....it'll be over 3 hours since order placed.....

Never arrived…. 3 hours later had to go and collect and was told would be another 30mins! Missing items. Wasn’t the only customer waiting ridiculous times or missing orders

Tried to get a delivery almost 2 hours late ordered at 3.30 for 6.30 it’s now 8.15 still no sign of it good food but please sort your deliveries out now 8.45 still not got it

food arrived early but the food was cold would prefer it late but hot or at least warm. its a shame as the food is first class. Best Indian in dalkeith.

Waiting 3 hours for a delivery is shocking!

unfortunately I have had to heat up all my food in the microwave as it was look warm when it arrived and didn't seem to be very fresh. This is quite disheartening as I'm a regular customer and the food has always been 5*

The cheese nan had no cheese, the prawn dish expected more looked like a normal dish nothing exeptional, creamy mushroom was watery and no Higgis in potatoe dish really disappointed

Excellent service and delicious food

Booked for Christmas day. ... restaurant was packed with several very large bookings when we arrived at 4pm. Tried to ask waiter where kids meal was but couldn't hear him over the "live entertainment", to be honest, been in nightclubs with quieter music definitely not the level you want to be subjected to while trying to have conversations on Christmas day! Wasn't even advised there would be a live act when booking otherwise we wouldn't have bothered! Sat down at 4pm given poppadoms and had to chase the waiting staff numerous times to order as priority was given to the bigger tables the whole time! Still waiting for food at 5:20pm.... with a 6 year old who was already struggling with the volume from the "impersonator" and now starving as he hadn't eaten since lunchtime. Partner complained to manager and suddenly food arrived at the table like magic..... when paying all the arrogant man behind the bar growled "how was food?" When I replied "ok but your service was shocking and grossly understaffed" the only reply I got was the total of the bill and a dirty look! We were weekly customers here for take aways but will definitely never be back. Doesn't take much to admit that you're understaffed and left a 6 year old child hungry for an hour and a half. Even an acknowledgement would have helped some what but clearly all they cared about was tables giving them more money. Save your hard earned cash and go else where.

Was late but we didnt mind as it was new years eve. Food was lovely.

Order was left unattended on reception desk. When a member of staff found it they had to try and find who had ordered it as no name was left on the delivery. The Naan was overcooked and the food was mildly warm. sadly disappointed.

Amazing food as always however the takeaway service waiting time is a joke. Collecting an order in the past has been over an hour late, deliveries the same. And when I've mentioned how long I've been waiting for my meal I've received quite rude responses from 2 members of staff about being short staffed. This is fair enough however there is no need to be rude and it happens so frequently with our orders I'm unsure they really have the capacity to deal with their customers or enough interest in customer care.

Nearly 3 hours for delivery when originally told 60-75 mins. Phoned the restaurant after 2 hours and they told me they were very busy and hung up on me!

Our order was so late that we had to go and collect it, despite calling the restaurant multiple times, whereupon they told us that the delivery was on its way. At the fifth phonecall, we asked to collect, which they said it was ready for. Burnt bread

Consistently great quality, authentic Indian food, whether sit-in or take away. Great menu and great value. Highly recommended.

I ordered the meal just before 5.30pm, it was finally delivered 7.43pm. food was lukewarm! had to reheat it in the microwave. not great Bombay Lounge!

unfortunately the food arrived cold., this was because the restaurant gave the delivery driver my wrong address...food was fantastic however when i had to reheat it

Very good food but overpriced and the online menu prices have been increased by 50% for example pilau rice now £6 but £4 in the online menu. The owner is over friendly and his style may not go down well with everyone. The staff are friendly and efficient. We ate midweek evening and it was very quiet.

Very sad to say this as I’ve been going for years, without Mikey there the food and service has went totally downhill, 8 of us last night have been going for a while and all agreed that the food and service was not a patch on what it was before, and I’ve noticed this going on 3 occasions in the last few months, so was not just last night. Bombay green curry was like the salt tub had been spilt into it, the wrong side dishes came and plates where being taken from the table before people had finished eating. Will I go back? Aye if the boss is back overseeing the service and food

An unethical business.Ordered food and waited almost 2 hours only to discover that they weren't going to deliver it!!Called up to 8 times only for it to be redirected to the answering machine!!Shame on you.If you can't deliver the food ,don't take orders.What a disgrace.

Food was expected to arrive between 8:30 -8:50 but didn’t arrive until 9:20. The delivery app had said it was delivered well before. The food was stone cold and everything had to be reheated. The order came with a bottle of wine to drown our sorrows?

By far the best Indian restaurant around food and drinks are amazing and the staff are so friendly. Even if you haven’t booked they always make sure you get a table

Food was ok though not very hot We waited absolutely ages for it to arrive, 2 and a half hours. The wrong delivery was then given to us but thankfully the driver was still there and able to fix this or the meal would have been later still! Not idea

Ordered chicken tikka Dopiaza and was given a plain chicken Dopiaza. No can of free Coke Zero in the bag either. Apart from that a tasty curry

Not a good Monday at the Bombay Lounge. You might have won awards in the past. You didn't win any with me. When you order food you expect good tasting. Not to be bland. Why do you severe slices of chicken not pieces in the meal ordered? Not advertised on the menu. Never in my meals at Indian restaurants have I been served slices of cheaper chicken. Very underrated sauce very bland. Ordered a garlic naan 😭 nope a burnt plain nan. My starter came straight out of the microwave. The heat from starter was still radiating. Finally the coffee was that strong you would have got a big kick. The reason we require coffee. This was because the welcome heating was just cold ❄️air. BEWARE CHRISTMAS REVELERS.

What has happened to Bombay Lounge? We used to go regular and have met up with friends there over the years. Always good service. Always good value for money. Very disappointed with our last visit. Kept waiting for our mains. The food was very average and not as good as it once was. Then we were hit with a bill of £64! That was 2 curries, shared naan, shared rice, shared chips and no alcohol. We appreciate they need to make money, but they are massively over priced compared to other places. If it was good food and worth it, we wouldn't have minded the price so much. Not the waiters fault, he was lovely. We won't be back unfortunately.

Fabulous food, staff are always friendly and helpful. Great menu, generous portion sizes, it is pricey but I think worth it.
