Bombay Lounge in Midlothian

The lamb bhuna was so salty I thought my head was going to implode.The tarka daal had the colour and consistency of baby poop.Fortuneately it did not taste like that.But that was only because it tasted of absolutely nothing at all.The chicken tikka sauce appeared to have been made with budget brand tomatoe soup and marmalade.Food gave us horrendous indigestion-and to top it all off we both had the scoots the next day.

Sunday night Ordered a take away and told 1 hour 40 max for delivery! Phoned to query delivery and told it’s just left! 2 hours 45 later it arrives! Food was cold and TBH very overpriced

We used to order our takeaways from here regularly however the past 6 months every order has been a disappointment. The last two orders have been missing items and food has been cold. Unfortunately it has put us off ordering from here again.

I ordered my meal at 18:49 (1 lamb green bombay curry, 1 boiled rice and a tandoori starter). My order was delivered at 21:49 (3 hours wait time) which is far too late to eat. Food was cold. I called 3 times to chase up my food order, I was told that they were busy and food was on its way. No apologies. Disappointed in the service. Also very expensive.

Totally unprofessional service, called 3 hours ago and was told 2 hrs for delivery ,called back after 2hrs 30 mins and was told he was going to call the driver and he would call me back, guess what still waiting, now when you call the shop it goes straight to voicemail, totally shocking service, avoid at all costs

Left a part of my order at the shop. Rang and asked for it to be delivered and it wasnt. Usually amazing,

Best place to eat. Fantastic staff. Michael is so friendly and always welcomes his customers. Place is always so clean. Staff are very helpful also sofriendly. Highly recomended.

Pre ordered before the restaurant opened and was given a delivery time of 5. Came after 6pm and the curries/naan was cold and the poppadoms were in smitherines.

After several phone calls my order arrived over an hour late and all the items I ordered were cold and unedable. The staff at the restaurant were of no help and even though promised they would call me back, they never did but only blamed the driver for the food being late. Terrible service!

Delicious food and amazing staff! I dont know the name of the lady waitress, but she was so attentive and catered to our every need.

Whilst it arrived in the time frame specified, it was 2 and a half hours which is a long time to wait. Food was stone cold , had to reheat it all in microwave which doesn’t really work for the chips or nan . Shame because I know food is good here but I wouldn’t order for delivery again.

I have ordered several times from Bombay Lounge and been super happy with my food. Food arrived very early which wasn’t too much of an issue. However prawns in curry were of a rubber texture that were flavourless. Madras curry had very little taste and chicken was gristly. Unfortunately this was a let down and has put me off ordering again.

This is the best indian restaurant around including Edinburgh for food drink and atmosphere. The owner Micheal goes out his way to make everyone feel welcome and is very knowledgeable on all the dishes.

Went here with my family for the first time tonight waited literally 2 hours for are food and Honestly I could make a curry better my self! They served everything separately first they brought out are Nan and chips then 20 minutes later brought are curry’s and the rest of are food was very disappointed. Left full plates and came home hungry and they had the cheek to charge us £225 for 6 people. DESGUSTING!

Great food was going to take 2 hrs for delivery to went to pick up still got charged the delivery fee no refund as it’s a third party they told me 😂😂

Came here for my 40th birthday with the whole family. As usual all dishes were amazing and we had a great time. Always good to talk to Michael and have a good laugh and catchup. We got 2 free starters added which was a nice surprise. Also staff found out it was my birthday and came out with a cake dessert with candles. Embarrassing for me but a great gesture. Always my favourite meal out or takeaway. Top class 👏

I order take out from this restaurant all the time. I made my order tonight over the phone as they’ve stopped doing order on just eat. Amongst my order I order all four dips they have when you eat in the restaurant. I specifically ask for lime pickle. When they read my order back to me they repeated the dips that I ordered with my popadoms. When my order arrived they did not add in my dips, when I called say, they refused to send them out, even though I paid for them. They told me they had no drivers and to go down to collect them myself, even though that’s what I paid the delivery fee for. £25 on a solo dinner for myself and I didn’t get everything I asked for. Popadoms without any dips was a waste.

Order wasn’t correct, no mango chutney, no spicy onions, popadoms were all smashed into tiny pieces and food arrived cold. We don’t usually have any issues with Bombay lounge this is unusual for them.

We have been away on holiday and can’t wait to go back to the Bombay lounge this weekend. I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal in this first class restaurant and the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable.

Excellent tasty food...The Green Lamb is amazing

A most excellent dining experience! Friendly attentive staff, even the owner couldn't do enough. Drinks were served quickly on request and food in a timely fashion. A well organised outfit! The food is fresh and a real attention to detail. The food was outstanding. Chicken Pakora and Chicken Jalfrezi were brilliant. Excellent pickle tray to start. Up there with some of the best Indian restaurants I have visited. Would deffo visit again when in the area. I am extremely impressed as it was a pit stop on my way through Bonny Scotland :)

Food as always was exceptional. unfortunately it was almost an hour and a half late. phoned the restaurant several times and instead of just being honest told us it has just left until probably the 4th phonecall they told us they had lost our order and were only preparing it. when it arrived we really enjoyed it.

We decided unfortunately to order a take away from this restaurant as we had been at friends a couple of weeks before and the food we ordered from here was delicious. Last night we placed an order costing £83 at 550, initially on the online delivery it said 75 minutes to deliver which we were fine, but then changed to 90 minutes which again we were fine with. By 8pm and well overdue the delivery time, my husband phoned and was told it would be with us shortly. I phoned as had a concern how warm the food would be when it was delivered and was told it would be fine. Called the restaurant after 830, as still no delivery and decided to cancel as we were hungry and I had a child needing fed. Spoke to an extremely rude man who we now know is the owner and should hang his head in utter shame with the way he spoke to me, telling me he was short staffed, shouldn’t be delivering to my area in the first place and yes he would cancel my order but never to order from them again. In amongst this, the delivery did arrive at 840, the rude owner asked to speak to the driver, I put the phone on loudspeaker where he went in a tirade of abuse including calling me a “crazy lady”, which was witnessed by my husband and our guests. Owner hold your head in utter shame. The owner does not need to worry as we won’t ever use your restaurant again or ever recommend the restaurant. We as a family would not want our family and friends to experience rude service and derogatory remarks. Some people should not be in business. Let’s see if my £83 is refunded.

3rd time in a row that Bombay has been a disappointment. food arrived cold so had to re heat everything. poppadoms were soggy. dips were missing from starter. no pilau rice and were offered a replacement within 20-30 mins. absolutely zero interest from the restaurant when you are a just eat customer, the same as previous. poor service, late delivery every time, cold food and missing items. the pits of a takeaway

Usually my favourite Indian takeaway. But wow what have you done to your pathia? was far too hot, couldn't eat it! Pathia is definitely not meant to be that hot & spicy.

We ordered food from here in advance via Just Eat and we were given a delivery slot for 8:45 pm. We knew they would be busy as it’s a Saturday night however we didn’t appreciate the staff telling us that it was on route, when it hadn’t even left! 1 hour and 15 mins late and cold! Not a good experience after being told that the food was ready only to be told that it wasn’t 45 minutes later. Dissatisfied customer

Absolutely diabolical service I was lied to 3 times with them saying it was on the way when it wasn’t even cooked. They kept putting the phone down on me when I asked where my order was. Do not take orders if you can’t cope

Ordered my food at 5pm for delivery at 6:30pm. The restaurant got back and said delivery would be 7pm Which was fine as it was father's dayband probably busy. After waiting for over an hour my food was delivered well after 8pm barely warm.

My experience tonight was not very good - order was late -phoned the restaurant I was told they were very busy and my order was on its way - basically I was told if not happy to ask for a refund from just eat. - this is not an ideal response when people are hungry and have been waiting nearly 3 hours from placing order- do not think it’s just eats fault as my contract was with the restaurant- I would have liked a better response from them

absolutely terrible service. Delivery was 2 hours after app advising 60 mins. After contacting the restaurant they wanted nothing to do with the order as it was via justeat and advised they had no control over timings. The only feedback provided was to contact justeat if I had a problem. disgusting service and should not be using justeat if they have no accountability for it. The food and service is still associated to you as a restaurant.

Ordered takeaway 6pm on a Wed night, should be long, surely. App said 1hr 15 min. Then rec’vd email saying 2hr 20 min. Phoned restaurant was assured that was wrong and it would be about an hour. Wrong arrived at 8pm. Food was stone cold. Never using again.

Not what i expected was ment to be tapas. Dishes were large meals and flavourless. Prises different from ur web site overall very disappointing.

Food was horrible I ordered tika masala and was bright red very sweet just inedible. The garlic nan was covered in butter gee which overpowered the taste. Was 40.00 for two currys and rice and nan which is a bit steep for poor quality food. Also the restraunt smelt really badly of urine 🤢

Estimated delivery time. 20.25-20-45 I was sent a message to say food was on the way and it arrived and it arrived another 1 hour later. Not the service I paid for just tell me the truth if it's on its way or not

we were very pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the staff, all as friendly and friendly as each other and ready to ensure that our meal went as smoothly as possible. We opted for the 20 pound menu, we shared our dishes and the waiter immediately brought plates to make us more comfortable. The quality and quantity were there. In short, a good choice and we recommend this establishment

Placed order at 7:02 through justeat with a estimated asap delivery of 915-935 which we were OK with and usually would be delivered before this. Restaurant due to close at 10 so called at 9:50 to be told it would be there soon. 10:20 food arrived Missing items and all food was cold which had to be reheated in oven and air fryer. Poppadoms were soggy no crisp to them at all, all currys,rice, chips and onion bhaji cold. Topping off missing spicy onions and juice. Won't be ordering anything again

What a wonderful evening we had for my birthday. Food excellent and staff so friendly. Special thank you to Ranji and Basamtic who were so welcoming, professional and attentive.

First time at Bombay Lounge and i was so impressed, food was delicious and large portions. Service was Top drawer and i will return to dine in as the ambience looked amazing.

Food is amazing but staff are very very pushy and I feel judgemental because we didn't want to buy poppadoms or sides. Or maybe they just didn't like us. Felt singled out and just not looked after. Woman with ponytail (oldee) just rude and bitter. Wouldn't really class this as a family atmosphere at all. I don't know maybe a bad day? But other staff just couldn't be bothered with us too. Just no extra mile. I'll give them another chance one day, hopefully the owner notices this. If he's not chatting to everyone he knows 😂😂😂

Food good. Delivery poor. Quoted 7:00-> 7:20pm delivery. In reality, it arrived at our door at 8:10pm. We had to reheat some items in the oven before we could eat them at their intended temperature.

This was 5 minutes over what was already a 2 hour delivery wait, from a restaurant 10 minutes walk from my house. I have never waited this long for any food delivery. Even from 2 towns away.

Doesn't get much better than this. Great portion size and deals 😄 Can't wait to return.

We were not informed of lateness until we asked for a text through JustEat after the order was already 15 minutes late. We were then told the order would be almost an hour late. We were then refused any money back for lateness. The food eventually arrived and one dish (lamb) was overcooked, tough and almost inedible although sauce was good. Good job of ruining our Mother's Day meal. We had preordered and had confirmation at 4.30pm that food would come at 5.40. Terrible service.

Took 3 hours for delivery, no updates from the restaurant, I had to call them for them to initially tell me it was out for delivery and then that it was still cooking. JustEat will do nothing as the restaurant didn’t update the order as delivered. Never again
