Nicest chippy ive visited in ages! Staff were very pleasant, food was lovely and fresh

Iv been a few times now as just moved to area not sure what was going on a few months ago looking at the reviews but I ordered large chicken meat and chips battered sausage can't finish it and I like a chippy or too today ordered the small just about finished it the chips bang on the chicken lovely battered sausage mint definitely my new chippy

Used to be the best but has drastically gone down the pan will not be returning

Quite possibly the worst portion in comparison to price I have see from a chip shop. A children’s meal cost £3.99 and that is outrageous portion provided! An all day deal £7.99. Would not waste my money again!

#UPDATE 10/11/23# So since the new owners have taken over, the salad on the kebabs are plentiful.... Visited Friday as we do once or twice a month. Had lamb donner kebab with other items. I no there is a cost if loving crisis and costs have gone up for everything, and we don't mind paying more....but when I opened my kebab last night there was hardly any salad on it I mean it was cut up that small I got one quarter of a cucumber slice ,2 quarters of tomatoe slice, tiny pieces of onion no more than a teaspoon worth and a few strands of lettuce. Portion sizes have definitely been reduced.

Luke warm chips small portions what has happened to this chippy? Once the best in the area, if you can’t get the chips right whats the chance of a good meal.

Poor service, staff confused, tiny portion. Not worth the time waiting. See below picture of a 'medium' chips.

Amazing food very clean well wrapped not greasy like alot of chip shops totally recommend. Great affordable prices and fast delivery

I ordered chicken and chips (£3.80) I enjoyed it, service was quick and the chips were fluffy and the chicken was flavourful. Would go here again. It is a bit pricey.

Was there a couple of times since I move to boldmere not very good,chips were white and not nice so I won't be going back

Food is delicious, the fish is great, the meat is always amazing, and the chips with sauce are delicious! The shop is small, but that shows it is a classic chip shop!

superiority...✓. Breathtaking...✓. Outstanding✓. Oh, don't mind me, just the first 3 words that come to mind when thinking about the boldmere fish bar. You may believe that as there are approximately 8,500 chip shops scattered across the UK, that this one in particular may be average, but you are very wrong. I have been coming here for years, and not once, and I mean once, have I been let down by this fine establishment. Proportions are fair, selection is wide, and taste is, well, taste is as close as we can get to heaven. And yes, I'm not joking when I say that, as it really is as if Christ put on an apron and fried the fish from the garden of Eden. It takes no genius for you to read this and desire to order from here, in which to those of you that absorb this information and invest your money here, I take my hat of to you and simply say, well done.

The best Fish and chips in Sutton Coldfield!!!!! Iv eat here just before the pandemic and still to this day have not been let down 👍🏻 The Food is far superior compared to Atlantis or new Oscott etc the Fish is really large and fresh the chips are cooked to the right size and really fresh, and wow wow the Donna is amazing 🤩 Staff are really Friendly and they get the know there regular customers and remember there orders like the sauce in the bottom of the pitta and back on top again lol. Should be 10 stars ⭐️

Usually our Friday night treat! Went in tonight ordered our usual mini fish, chips, kebab burger and lamb donner in Nahn bread! Got home to find large peice of fish no chips! ! So after a 10 min walk back and paying again for the chips, and after being asked did I want salt n vinegar? Still No salt n vinegar, in the meanwhile our fish was getting cold!!! Think il be trying new oscott fishbar next time

This was the WORST chippy meal we have ever had, First thing that caught our attention was the poor value for money portions, ended up in the bin.

Had to throw most of it away. Wanted some takeaway after a long week and unfortunately this was the wrong choice! The chips were greasy, scallops over battered and tasteless, both the burgers were tasteless and even the buns they were in were. Not sure how a chip shop stays open when they can't even get chips right - sorry to be so harsh but you need to sort it out. I won't be ordering from there again anyway.

Chicken kebab was delicious I would say sometimes it would be nice to be greeted with a smile and not feel so rushed to order

Well small que outside shop 10min i was in got it split in 2 parts to keep poeple safe got served and out brill and food was brill aswell nice one boldmere

II ordered over the phone and when collecting,charged more. When i enquired pointing to the menu on the wall i was informed it cost more.I INFORM YOU TO STAY AWAY BECAUSE ALTHOUGH THEY SHOW A MENU AND PRICES THEY CHARGED WHAT THEY WANT.

Possibly the best fish and chips in the Midlands cooked to perfection quality out of this world and opend for local people today please support this fantastic business as they try hard to give us all in boldmere fantastic local food 5 star

I class my self as a kebab conneseur, this one ticked all the boxes! Nice soft tasty meat and the chips wernt greasy either!

Nice for a regular fish supper and do cater for vegetarians. Kebabs and chicken are OK but chips are variable.

I asked the owners how long they had been running this take away and they ssid about 12 months. So not the same that were running it when my family and I lived in Boldmere and were regular Customers! Glad to report the quality is still very good. My Wife and I had the regular cod and chips. 2 portions came to £9. Generous size. No skin on the cod, which I prefer. Too much for my Wife to eat. Certainly would recommend.

Absolutely love what the new owners have done to this chippy, totally turned it around!! Fish and chips is like nothing I've tasted in the area before, the batter is crisp and perfect. Love the home roasted chicken too, had them with the curry sauce which was lovely. Great job!!!

We havent been here recently and thought we would buy from here again. A well established business but under new ownership in 2017. Great food and good portions, in fact too much to eat but tasty the next day too. All you would expect and more.

This chippy has improved dramatically since under new management. The quality of food is excellent. The fish is especially good; as well as what you expect to buy there is halloumi; three types of curry sauce just to give some examples that gives the place it's own identity. We have been several times with consistency of great food and service.

The food is great quality, well priced and the portions are massive, and I mean massive. The batter on the fish is incredible and the curry sauce is probably the best I've tasted. Really nice friendly staff as well. You can't ask for more from a chippy. Probably the best in the Sutton Coldfield area.

While working away thought to greet myself and choose this little place. Just finished my portion of haddock, chips, gravy and mushy peas. Was absolutely lovely! Big fish with not too much batter on it, was super tasty and wasn't soaking in oil ( like they sometimes do). Chips lovely and fluffy inside, tasted of butter somehow which was stunning. Gravy not too watery, mushy peas just how it should be. Ladies behind counter with lovely smiles and happy to help. Nice clean shop. What else do you need? Only for you guys to move to Yorkshire!

Perhaps not best time to visit at closing time but was late home. Enormous portion of fish, perhaps a smaller portion would be more appealing? Batter too thick, slightly stodgy. Chips had a slightly odd oily taste but generally OK. I need to return to try earlier in the evening with fresh fish and chips. Portion size too large for an average adult in my opinion perhaps worth sharing?

Visited this place at 6.30pm on a Saturday night, the food was cold. As it's all day opening the food is sitting there literally all day. Also, whilst being served the young lady serving me asked her manager for change for the till as she'd ran out of one pound coins. Rather than explain the situation to me she quite simply short changed me by a pound.

The food is great and the Irish curry is brilliant

We have had two lots of fish and chips from the Boldmere chippy under new management and have been very impressed with the crispness of the batter and the tastiness of the fish. Because we do not have huge appetites, we shared a haddock and a cone of chips and it was plenty.

Decent enough chippie. It closed just after Xmas. No explanation. My nephew is gutted as it was his favourite.. Selling 'the best haddock ever'. Sad to see it go..

This is a great little fish and chip shop which serves really good fish and chips. The main plus is the gluten free batter that you can get on a Monday so that's the day we go.

Every Monday you can get gluten free fish and chips - you can see it prepared in front of you, so no worries about cross-contamination or lack of understanding. I was very impressed with their knowledge and the food. Yay for Mondays!
