Absoloutely appaling. Food chosen and ordered. Coffee very average. Delay on food being 'delivered' to outside table was in excess of 30 minutes and then not all brought at the same time. Hot drinks had to be paid for and taken at the same time! When asked if we were happy I pointed out the delay and within 5 minutes the remainder of the food was delivered but it was cold! Obviously just forgotten about. Level of service was very poor and untrained staff.

The gardens themselves are outstanding which is why it is such a shame that the pavilion cafe is a let down. The options are minimal, and extremely expensive, we ended up getting tuscan tomato soup, one with bloomer bread and one with a cheese scone ... which sounds delicious .... it wasn't, it was basically a cup a soup -watery with no flavour and the bread was a very filling (not) half slice. The cheese scone although more substantial than the bread was stale and lacked flavour as well. We also had 2 sausage rolls and 3 drinks, almost came to £40 .... not impressed at all. Also the meals were all served without cutlery. As a side note, the tables outside were wonky and so my children ended up spilling their drinks ...the staff weren't very friendly either 😕

Patience is needed, as the size of the cafe cannot really cope with the numbers at busy times ( Laburnam Arch ) when in full display attracts perhaps more visitors than other times . That said the team work very hard, and should be appreciated, the young guy cleaning the tables outside deserves special mention, courteous and a credit to the National Trust. We just had a sandwich, and the delicious Victoria Sponge cake, along with a coffee, again all top quality.

The service was a little slow for our coffee and snack but it wasn't a problem for us. The cakes we had were delicious and the coffee hot. To sit out in the sun in January was fantastic with lovely views . This is outside the NT property.

The tearoom building is quite pleasant with a reasonable number of outside tables. We visited in early October and it was very busy. My main observation, as made by others, was the length of wait to be served - sorry NT but a half an hour wait for a coffee and cake is just not acceptable. It needs sorting for next season and sadly this NT property is not the only one that suffers from this problem - Belton House, Lincs as another example. The tearoom is situated outside the Gardens entrance so if you want mid visit refreshments you have to go out and come in again. These are rightly so, very popular gardens and to me it seems the Tearoom is not big enough for the footfall - surely there is scope on site to enlarge them. Much room for improvement NT!

The cafe is the first place you encounter from the car park, so we decided to have lunch there, unfortunately there were not many options for teens as the bacon baps are only served until 11 am so they all had sausage rolls. However When we got to the coffee shop at the bottom of the valley, they were selling a completely different range of food with us buying 2 lunches for our lads (the website doesn’t mention the eateries let alone menus).

Went for a late snack lunch. Found a table, which had not yet been cleared and went to order from the counter. Queued for about 20 minutes watching the staff being really slow and disorganised. Manager faffing around not really achieving much and repeatedly taking things off the menu as they ran out. By the time we eventually got our third choice of food (including their last afternoon cream tea at 2:20pm) and got back to the table we found it had still not been cleared. Awful waste of time and left more stressed than when we arrived.

As long as you are prepared to queue for 40 minutes to actually get to food counter then it is OK. But only 2 people serving and one totally doing coffees which took ages. Quite ridiculous. Queue was very long still when we left. Jacket potatoes were nice but not worth the hassle!

The food was to the normal NT quality but the service was very poor. It took us 45 minutes to get served when, for the size of the queue, I would have expected to have waited no more than 15 minutes. A couple of other observations. Why put the trays at the end rather than at the start? If we had taken an ice cream out of the fridge as we passed it in the queue, it would have melted by the time we would have paid. Would not return here. Gardens were great.

Came here today Iced Cherry latte was spot on and great. But I think their needs to be a few things that need to rectified 1 . the place needs increased hygiene cleaning for example the toilets they were absolutely horrendous today with someone’s skid marks on them appalling!! 2. The staff members need to stop nagging people to come out of the toilets and not speak to them in a rude manner. If this continues to happen then things are going to kick off and escalate. A change is urgently needed!!! Caffè Nero investigate this and get these problems resolved.
