Great chippy whilst road is closed they are still open so give them the support by ordering online collection or popin in....

£25.40 for supposed large haddock and large chips twice. If that's the large haddock I'd hate to see the small! This was the first time ordering from here and it will be the last.

OMG. Lovely tasty chips, cod and chicken burgers. Randomly dropped in halfway through a 200 mile trip and really found an Oasis in a desert with Bob's Fish n chips. Chicken burger better than burger Kings chicken royale. Chilli cheese bites to die for. Couldn't ask for better.

Good food, parking is ok but gets very busy with cars coming and going. Offer quite a variety of things. Fish and Chips, battered sausages, donner kebabs, pizzas, curry's, fried chicken, peri peri chicken and probably a bunch of other things I've never even noticed before. Thier website is pretty clunky and quite limited so better off ordering in store if your going to collect.

Probably the worst of the worst, ordered food through card. Didn’t arrive! Ordered again got delivered. To be told after eating my card was declined. Tried to sort out the issue with giving card details. To be told by the owner some people want free meals! I marched down there went to red oak stores withdrew £20 out at a cost of £1.99 and threw it at bobs fish and chips

We ordered a delivery online. It arrived well before the ETA and piping hot. The fish was excellent, also curry sauce and mushy peas. In fact I enjoyed the curry sauce and chips so much I nearly forgot the fish. Highly recommend.

Food is really good - fish is nice and chicken is soft. Service is good and quick. Atmosphere is, well, it's chippy... And most important - really good value for money.

Normally I just have Cod and Chips. The fish is always fresh and tasty and the chips excellent and large portion. The place does a range of takeaway foods such as Pizza, Fried Chicken and Indian. I only ever have the Chips. The place is always buzzing with people (customers) and is rightly very popular. Parking is a little tight during the busy period. Small waiting area that gets packed quickly.

Fish and Chips - great taste, generous portion sizes, and friendly and efficient staff.

Bobs has a huge range of take away options and it’s all good quality. It’s a busy place serving the local community, so you can sometimes expect delays. Staff are all pleasant and everyone is working hard.

Ordered pizza and nuggets from here. Really pleased with the food and especially pleased with how professional the bald man behind the till is. Forget Magic Mike…it’s all about Magic Pete and his pizza! Woohoo

Despite a bad previous experience, the food and service has been consistently good since. Some compensation for future upset customers would go a long way but we love the food here so I have changed my review to 5 stars.

Car park is a bit tricky to negotiate but yeah super friendly staff, great options, great food and great value, will be going again

First time I have had a Kebab, ordered 5 for a get together. My family says the worst they have ever had, & I never want to see one again. Only 4 arrived & 2 boxes of cold uncheesy chips. Better stick to what it says on the tin, fish & chips over the counter.

Can get all sorts here. Most of which is very good. Biggest draw back is the parking at the front can get full at busy times very easily.

The fish & chips weren't the best 😕

The service at this place has really gone down hill. They never have enough chips. They tell you your order will be 5 minutes and they mean 20 minutes. Then they serve people who came after you with the same order as yours.

Standard fish, chips, pies etc are good. Can not speak for the southern fried chicken as never tried. Doner Kebabs are poor though.

Finally found a chippy that manages to cook fish, chips and a battered sausage properly! Fish, crispy batter on the outside and succulent, tasty cod inside. Chips (plentiful) and, again, properly cooked and allowed to drain before being boxed. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and going back tonight for more.

Chips very good but the sausage tasted cheap and so did the chicken burger which the fox got given as it was that bad. Would get chips from again but nothing else.

We were infrequent fish and chip eaters because the quality of this our local used to be shocking. Been a couple of times in the last few months and the food is cracking. Chips are crispy but soft inside. Plenty of salt and vinegar, fish is cooked perfectly. All in all a delicious treat that is becoming very frequent.

Ordered large fish, got a small fish instead, I also pre ordered for pickup and was told to come in 15 minutes, I showed up 15 mins later and had to wait a further 25 minute for order even though I stated I was there for the telephone order

I ordered pie and chips for delivery as I have covid. I live on my own so this option suited me. Was informed that the minimum order for delivery was £13. The person on the phone didn't seem to care that I had covid so was unable to collect. In these times I think small businesses should be able to cater for everyone no matter how small the order. I live 0.2 miles away from the chippy,how sad that they just couldn't take a small order. Won't be going there again once I'm well.

I got my first order from the restaurant today, I'm glad to share my feelings that the food was delicious and restaurant stuff behaviour was unexplainable as well as delivery service which is being me more happy.However, I have enjoyed my meals. Thank you 😊

so i entered the shop and some fst guy with fish batter in his hands came in and asked me ello boss anthing for you i said yes please i will have a classic chip butty with a chicken pukka pie. I decided to sit and eat at a comfortable place i opened it and there was goat testicalls and ketchup with hair in it ewww put me off so much and i really couldnt have it complained to bossman and rated it a 1 out of 5. I was hungry after a long shift and this utterly disgusting . Im not angry just dissapointed

very friendly yet the actual food was dissapointing there was a pungeant smell of a goat and some hair in it very curly the chips were very nice the chip butty was immense but my pukka pie was already opened

Had takeaway Fish n Chips - had the order been put up correctly it woukd have been great, but only got half the order consequently part of meal wasn't hot. Generally its good though.

On a busy Saturday evening it was pretty chaotic and the online booking system didn’t seem to be ‘in play’ - but with a bit of patience the results are SO worthwhile. Quite superb fish and chips. Fresh, tasty and huge portions. We will be back. Just give ourselves a bit more time next time.

Worst food ever plus expensive just came out

Placed an order online, over £80 worth. Went to collect it and got home to find some items were missing and one order was incorrect (which isn’t the end of the world!) I returned to bobs with the incorrect item and explained that there were some items missing - the staff were extremely rude to which the boy working said all the items he packed were correct and made out as if I was lying. Basically shrugging his shoulders. After finally getting the items, returned home and one of them was still wrong and the food was not great at all. We are very local but sadly will not use them again due to our experience.

Got haddock and chips for myself and family. Service friendly but food quite bad. Chips edible but fish a big NO NO! Absolutely tasteless. Mushy peas also tasteless. Was grateful of my curry sauce to give a taste of something. Never had such terrible fish. Very expensive for a bad meal. May go again but not for fish and chips!

Decent takeaway if staying nearby, got a pizza and kebab. Nice to see them do half and half on pizzas. They call a small pizza a medium and so on which is funny. Fresh and yummy and a massive menu to choose from

I've used Bob's before for fish and chips as it's the closest for collection and it's always been ok but not great. This time we wanted something different so I ordered 1 X large doner kebab, 1 X small doner kebab, 1 X small cod and chips and 6 pieces of peri-peri chicken (£27). I was asked if I wanted salt and vinegar for the fish and chips but nothing else. Once I got the meals home there was nothing but utter disappointment. The fish and chips were ok but the peri-peri was just mildly spicy chicken strips (£6) but the kebabs were just plain meat on a pitta (see photo). No sauce, no salad, no peppers, nothing. Really Bob's? Do you think this is ok for £6.50/£8? Not for me that's the last time I use Bob's for anything and recommend everyone does the same. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

We have been buying fish and chips from California Crossroads since we moved here in 1986! It is great to be able to order online and just walk in and the order is ready. The fish is tasty and portions are good value for money.

Nice place, there's no eating in only takeaways but the curry if like water but they got a lot of Currys they sell fish and chips any food but keep away from the running curry

Got treated like a leper because I didn't adhere to each and every dictat, imposed by the tyro proprietor, in a timely fashion. They need reminding that customers are still customers - just about!

Once again ,I thought I'll treat myself to a quick meal after finishing a long shift from work. When i got home the food felt like i was biting on a brick.. literally the chicken and chips were stone hard. The food didn't even look fresh at all. So i throw it straight in the bin. I was totally not impressed with the quality of food. I'll never be returning here again.

Good fish and chips for a Friday night, they also do 18" pizzas!

Bob's has been my local fish and chip shop since I moved into Finchampstead in January 2010. I had fish and chips that day, was seriously unimpressed and haven't been back since - until yesterday, when I thought I'd give them another chance, and that was a BIG mistake. To start, service was excruciatingly slow. It took over 15 minutes for someone to even take my order, then another 15 for my simple order two cod and chips to arrive. So much for fast food. While I was waiting for my order, the shop became the most Covid unsafe premises I've been in since the start of the pandemic, ironic as it was the first anniversary of the first lockdown starting so they've had more than enough time to get their Covid-safe precautions in place. When I left there were 12 customers in the shop (probably as a result of the slow service), half not wearing face coverings, despite copious posters on the door and windows stating a maximum of six and that face coverings must be worn. While I accept it is difficult for vendors to police these rules, not a word was said, for example politely asking the latest arrivals to wait outside, and they were in effect encouraging people to not wear face coverings by half the staff not wearing them, either at all or properly, themselves. One staff member, who shamefully looked like the manager, was not wearning a face covering at all, another was wearing it under his chin (very effective - NOT), the one taking orders and serving had the top across the middle of his mouth, exposing his nose and top lip. To cap it all, the fish and chips was the worst I've ever had. The batter was greasy and soggy, and the fish was undercooked, despite having waited so long. They may be my local fish and chip shop, and the only one in walking distance, but I would rather drive eight miles to the other side of town get the best fish and chips ever. I might give them another chance - but only in another eleven years.

Popped in after a very long shift. Asked if they offered NHS discount. Guy at the counter asked his manager who immediately refused without hesitation. Managed looked appalled that I asked. I'm not expecting anything, but a little appreciation for everything NHS staff do.

You are told they are only accepting online orders. So you order online, then join the queue of people who have not ordered online and wait. Then when you get to the front of the queue you have to wait for your order (that was ordered an hour ago) because other people have eaten bought all the fish. Just all a bit rubbish really. No point ordering in advance. Also no concept of social distancing from the other customers. All a bit of a shambles.

I ordered a medium chips and saveloy. The order I received was so tiny in size it was pretty embarrassing. When asked if it was a medium box they said yes. When i asked to see the small portion size box they showed me the same sized box!!!!!!!!!!! Tiny portions for the money. Chips overly greasy if I'm honest as well.

Ordered Cod & Chips and they said I had to wait as the cod would be cooked from fresh along with the chips which was a good start. Got home and started to eat and chips tasted just right but the fish was not right, starred to remove batter and fish looked undercooked and off white to pink tasted odd so finished chips off,took an image to show next day. Returned next day to let them know what had happened and the guys that were serving got a bit abusive accusing me of lnot knowing what I was talking about so I showed them the image and what I presume was the owner brought two fish to show me but that doesn’t prove anything other than those examples that he brought me looked to okay, but that didn’t explain the problem with my order. No offer of a credit note or refund just carried on with mouthing off so I let them know that I just called in to make them aware, Obviously won’t be bringing them any future business.
