Good place to go to and play games, and good selection of games. They cater for vegans and vegetarians.

We have gone a few times now and we love it ! They have a wide range of games, they never hesitate to recommend games, help with setting it up or any questions about the games. The staff is incredibly friendly. The drinks are good and they have homemade softs, service is fast. Atmosphere is great, couldn’t recommend this place enough !!!

One of my favorite places to spend time with friends and learn new board games! The staff are amazing, the food is great and the kitchen staff clearly work very hard and they have always welcomed myself and my group bookings with a friendly face and some lovely banter. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

This place is an absolute shining gem. The staff are super friendly, nice, and helpful. The food and drink is very fairly priced and enjoyable. And paying an entrance fee rather than hourly is such good value. Plenty of games to choose from and welcome to bring your own or run your own tabletop games. But seriously the staff are just 10/10

Found this place by accident on route to Brighton. Took part in the quiz that was great fun. We loved it so much we went back on way home to Cornwall. The staff were really lovely, the customers all engrossed in the board games.All age groups. Lovely atmosphere. In fact this visit was the highlight of our weekend. We had such fun. Wish we had similar in St Austell. Food basic, cheap and cheerful loved the fries. If you’re in the area give it a try. “What you got to loose but the game” 😂😂😂

Absolutely amazing place. The staff are unbelievably friendly, willing to help explain games, and are so knowledgeable they can recommend you games you end up loving. I enjoy the way the food menu is set up, too - super customisable and with a lot of options. Very fun place all round and for a really generous rate (I felt bad not spending more for the length of time we were able to stay there playing!) Wonderful experience.

Great place. Joined an event. People and staff were amazing. Really enjoyed visiting if this place was a animal it would be a board game playing, super friendly, warm, and inviting dolphin. One that can play chess while doing back flips through a flaming hoop while singing hits from the 00's. Just interesting fun and good for the whole family.

Friendly and helpful staff with a great knowledge of the many hundreds of games they must have on the shelves. Spent nearly 5hrs there on a Sat afternoon and wished I could have stayed longer. The food and drinks are good value I think, but it's really about the games.

First time I visited this place and definitely won't be the last. The staff are so genuinely nice and enjoy interacting with customers. The food is really reasonably priced and delicious, choice of chocolate (room temperature or refrigerated!) and 100's of games.

Good range of games and a great venue for hosting events if you reach out to them. Parking near by is almost impossible until after 6p. It's highly recommended to go with friends.

A great range of games. Staff are very knowledgeable and introduced us to some new games. It's a very community spirited enterprise that thoroughly deserves to be successful. You should visit, enjoy some games and give your money to a worthwhile community project.

Fantastic little place! Perfect if you want to try a game before you buy it! Loads of games to choose from and fantastic staff that are more than happy to help teach you games if you learn them better by having them explained rather than reading them!

Stumbled across this place as our daughter was on a cubs trip nearby. We spent a happy 90mins playing card games. It was busy so I recommend booking a table. They have loads of games on offer for you to play and a basic food menu. You pay £5 per person to play the games/table hire, we also had 2 hot drinks and a waffle and the total was just under £20. We need one of these Bitterne way!

Just brilliant - kudos not only to the friendliest staff, but the food could easily outcompete any other place nearby. The coffee? Barista grade. The crisps? Better impossible The team made the whole experience just perfect

If you want to visit a board game cafe this is definitely worth trying! The staff were friendly and chatty as soon as we entered and helped us to our pre- poked table before we chose what games we wanted to play. The choice of games is extensive and all the games are out in alphabetical groupings. There’s even a wall display telling how long some of the games will take eg 15-30 mins, to help you choose. A staff member game over and playfully explained how to play and was really engaging. I tried a mock tail and it was lovely as well as being really cheap. We tried a few snacks such as their flaps jacks, which again were cheap but really tasty. My favorite thing overall was the atmosphere. People all around getting involved in games and just having a good time while a group DnD game was going in the next room just made the cafe feel fun and alive. Please give these guys and girls a visit when you’re in the area and enjoy a game, some snacks and a drink!

A treasure of a place where everyone is welcome. Hayley goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. Alex is fantastic making sure you all the food and drink you need. My youngest daughter loves playing D&D there and Hayley has stretched mine and my eldest daughters board games skills with her vast knowledge of them.

What an amazing place, such a gem in the Southamptons crown. My daughter went for a games session and I was amazed at the excellent setup for gamers and people with Adhd and Autism for example. What a wonderful and inclusive place. Bravo 👏

Booking is pretty much essential for a Sunday. Only managed to get one game played, but would have loved to have stayed for more. The food was pretty good, but they're true to their "Fine food, not fast food" mantra, so order early if you're hungry.

Years of visits now. It's so welcoming the team there are brilliant, food is great and there's always someone to help you pick a game if ur not sure what to try. Great for the whole family

I'm struggling to find the words to explain how incredible this place is and how much it means to me. I would be devastated if it closed. The staff couldn't be more friendly or attentive. There's an endless range of games from my childhood favourites (obviously Monopoly!) to goodness knows what with staff at hand to teach you to play anything that takes your fancy. And if you're not in the mood for a game, simply pop in for the food and drink offering which is prepared on site, generously portioned and ridiculously good value for money. My only complaint is that the prices are too CHEAP... £4 for 2 hours? What other activities cost so little; in fact it's undoubtedly more expensive to stay at home and put the heating on! The whole team excel at customer service with a warm welcome guaranteed.

Boardgames, tasty food and wonderful staff as well as a lot of charity work make this my favourite hang out place in Southampton.

Honestly such an amazing place, they have literally 100s of games so there is plenty of choice, and all the games are sorted in genres to make it easy to find what you're looking for. The staff are so friendly, they are always willing to teach you a new game and they are so sociable and friendly. The food is also really good- they have a really good range of vegan options and it's really cheap as well, I cannot reccomend board in the city enough- the whole experience is really fun. If you're in a large group, I would reccomend booking in advance.

We had such a wonderful time, the team are so friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. They managed to fit us in without a booking on a busy Sunday and still gave the best level of service. We are excited to come back for our next visit

Wonderful place! Staff are totally wonderful, food is good but the best thing is the games. So many games! Ask for advice and you'll have games recommended. I've never been disappointed.

Board in the City is an especially special place. The staff are beyond helpful and its very disability friendly, wheelchair accessible with spaces for people who are neurodivergent. The money raised is fed directly back into the local community and it runs a whole host of events including mental health support, dementia groups, community feeding projects and much more. The wonderful staff are always happy to help you find and learn a new game (of which there seems an endless supply) or you can book onto one of the Dungeons and Dragons sessions, or card game groups. There's special sessions for kids and the food is amazing, I've been going a while and love it. Can't praise it enough!

I visited BitC with friends who are regulars and had a great time. The game selection is unparalleled, as they had games I never expected to see in the wild in the U.K. The food and drinks were great and fairly priced. And, most importantly, the staff and general environment were welcoming and friendly. Hope to visit again.
