Blacks Burgers in Epsom and Ewell

We had dinner here before heading to the Epsom playhouse. I have been to blacks a few times in the past. First time was about 8 years ago and it was amazing. We were greeted snd seated and the menus were fully explained to us. Was thrilled to hear about the change back to original management. So we are looking forward to visiting again. The burgers were amazing and we ordered some gravy to dunk in which took it up to a next level. We had a kinder brownie to finish which was served warm with ice cream. Really hope this place continues for years to come!

The waiter Carmelo was charming and engaging going out of his way to make us feel welcome. The food was delicious and served quickly and so the food was hot

Came here with my 9 yo daughter.. lovely experience. Great service, friendly and efficient. Fresh burgers..seriously great! Nice to know it takes a good amount of time to prepare. Great value for money. Week day offers are a must. Couldn't take any pictures as we downed our food in a heart beat. We shall be back soon with the rest of the family. FYI only, £18.20 for a kids meal and my adult meal which includes a drink and side also with as many toppings as you want! Boom!

If you are looking for a great burger, this is for you. However I have to say I was very disappointed as we had originally gone in looking for garden furniture.

Amazing burgers. Had been recommended by loads of friends for a while now so expectations were high. But they absolutely met those expectations. Burger was fantastic, and the cajun fries are even better. Although it's not cheap, it is well worth it to treat yourself here when you can.

BLACKS IS BACK UNDER ORIGINAL OWNERSHIP! It's nice to see Blacks is back under the original ownership from when they initially launched. Quality had gone downhill under the new franchise owners but this time the original owners are back and boy does it show. Lovely juicy mouthwatering burgers, lovely bottomless soft-drinks and a more original authentic menu and BACON IS BACK! You must pay them a visit! Get the App for more savings!

Was so excited to read reviews and see that the original owners had taken back over as last time I ordered on Uber eats my chicken burger was burnt and inedible. I waited over an hour for my food to come it was freezing cold and cheese looked like rubber. I had to throw my whole order away. Uber eats offered no refund or compensation whatsoever!

We had been regulars here for quite a long time, but after a disappointing experience earlier in the year, we took a break. We recently learned why. The business had been franchised and things had changed (for the worse). In the summer, the original owners bought the business back and set about restoring the brand. We went back last week and it was clear from the moment we walked in that things were back the way they should be. Great food, great service, and that happy atmosphere that had made us regulars before. Thank you - it's great to have you back!

Fantastic from start to finish. We were a very large group of mostly kids and Phil organised a space for us despite the no bookings policy. Everything was set up when we arrived. All the staff were friendly and attentive, and they were great with allergies. Ordering process was well thought out and smooth for such a big group, burgers and milkshakes were DELICIOUS. A great place to eat, will definitely return (without 9 extra kids 🙃).

Went with my eldest son. Amazing burgers, back to how they used to be before they went for the franchise experiment (which didn't work). One of the tastiest burgers I've ever had (pigcasso) Waitress was very good, friendly, attentive and smartly presented. Previously they went for a franchise model and had let standards slip, but they are back to how they were. So ignore any recent less than stellar reviews.

Fantastic burgers and great service. Shame about the consistency on brownie desserts. In the last 3 visits, no brownies have been available which is no ideal given these are equally as popular as the burgers.

Compared to when it first opened years ago it's gone dramatically downhill. The burgers are alot more smaller. Not many sides to choose from anymore. Burger its self was very dry nothing like they used to be. No brownies. Ice cream was lovely though.

Simply the best burger in Epsom and Surrey! Perfect patties, well seasoned, super hot suaces and burgers, best quality! Me and my son went to eat here last month and we are glad we did. We ordered burgers and wings and chips and drinks and they were really delicious and exquisite. Would recommend for anyone who wants to relax and eat. Loved it!😁

Loyalty still means something to some people these days! And when asked how was your meal, the boys reactions was 'Banging!' Faultless, glad to see original management back doing what they do best. Great burgers and excellent service. Ordered using the QR code at the table which was nice and convenient. Our food arrived quickly and the staff were really keen to ensure we had a good experience. This will be out goto for burgers from now on and definitely better than the various chain restaurant offerings.

I ordered a hamburger and waited for 40 minutes, even when there was no one else in the store, and the person who arrived 20 minutes after me got their food before me. The staff's attitude was also very bad, and didn't even bother to ask what the problem was after I urged she.

Very impressive service and price. My brother (who is blind) we're both looked after very well at blacks in Epsom. The burgers were much better than expected, even better than five guys on my opinion.

I had the veggie burger and it was delicious!

Last year I absolutely loved blacks, I went as often as i could. Then the owners changed and the difference in overall quality and taste and style of the burgers was disappointing and put me off it for a while. But now it's back to the og owners and it tastes as extremely good as it used to, the service is amazing and the whole place is lovely! Best burgers around.

The BAD - prices are little too high, we could of had similar in Epsom and would of been little cheaper, this is why I gave 4 star, the service was great.

I've recently revisited Blacks since they returned to their old management, and I'm glad I did. The beef burgers are back to how delicious I remember them being, and the bacon is back! They've also reintroduced the original fries, which are much better and super crispy. Note to future management: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. See you again soon 👋🏻

The best hamburger ever! Juicy and fresh meat patties with amazing recipes. Very friendly service, you can feel like at home.

Our family of 4 went here just after the lunch rush. Not crazy busy so service was really quick and efficient. I do miss some of the quirky burger options they used to have but the standard burgers are still great quality. Price is about that of a 5 guys and I enjoyed these ones a lot more. The brownie and ice cream desert is amazing and the milkshakes are pretty much the best I've had in a long,long time.

Ordered through UberEats and waited for 2 hours with constant pushing back of delivery time. Then they cancelled the order with no explanation. Lost our family as a customer

Excellent burgers! Had the Korean burger with side of chips and slaw and all were amazing...but website not great, no answer on the phone ever and 3 times we've placed an order waited an hour then been notified it's been cancelled!

Have been meaning to come here for a while now as have heard how good the burgers are and like to avoid the big chain restaurants. I had the Fix and hubbie had the Dirty Burger minus the blue cheese. Both were really tasty, especially the meat, and I'm looking forward to trying some of the other combos. We shared the cajun fries which IMO are better than the Five Guys ones as the seasoning was more delicate and they were what I call proper french fries as nice and crispy. Thumbs up for the coleslaw too. We were there towards the end of the evening but there were still quite a few diners making for a nice relaxed atmosphere. The young chap that served us was very attentive and all in all we thought it was great value for these times. Just need to leave room for a desert next time as they look amazing.

Always had good burgers from here, so this negative is an exception. However last time they didn't add the original toppings, only the extra ones I asked for. Called them up and they said they would send me voucher. They didn't. Called again, again they said they would send me voucher. They didn't. Poor customer service.

I had been looking forward to eating there and it was a big let down. Pricey for the small burgers, overdone meat, terrible chips and poor service. No wonder epsom social was so busy and this wasnt!

We turned up at 4:15 to an empty restaurant and no staff present whatsoever giving the restaurant was open. We waited around 20 minutes even calling the restaurant to try and get someone to come out to which no one came. After another 5 minutes and 2 hungry children I went to try find the staff to find them all out the bath having a ‘staff chat’ yet no note was left out to let customers know and no apology was made for the wait. Was very unprofessional and really disappointed as have never had a bad experience there I’ve always loved blacks burgers. The place also was in desperate need of a good clean, the floors were very sticky and food still under tables ect. Burger was lovely can’t fault that however when given a side of tomatoes for my baby they stank were definitely very old and were uneatable. Blacks burgers needs to sort staffing ect out and in the future if going to have ‘staff chats’ outside then please put a note up to let people know. No apology what so ever for the wait around ect and we wont be returning anytime soon unfortunately.

We ate at 5pm, so were the only ones there (so staff not under pressure at all). Ordered nachos to start, then a burger each, plus the free sides of fries and slaw, a portion of chicken strips on the side, and a couple of beers. £54 all in all. We had to ask three times for the beers, and in the end I went and got them myself. Despite having discussed the nachos being to start, they brought the burgers first and said it was because they were having “problems with the nachos” (not sure what that could be). The burgers had nice taste, but were completely cold. We told the waiter, and he was lovely and apologised, but said there was nothing he could do (we had paid at this point). The fries were also cold, and he said he’d take them back. It took him 20 mins to return with (admittedly hot) fries, by which time we’d finished. I am not very fussy about these things - and if it had even been warm I’d have not said anything, but this was just rubbish. They just seemed more focussed on serving the Deliveroo drivers who were in and out, and talking among themselves. The industry complains how tough market conditions are - but maybe it’d help if they made it a less disappointing experience to eat out…

Used to love visiting blacks - burgers used to be big and juicy and the place was always packed. Visited a couple of months ago and felt the food was lacking, burger was very dry but just thought it was an off day. Visited again recently with family and unfortunately it was even worse - despite there seeming to be a hike in prices. The burgers seemed much smaller and the meat was incredibly dry. Fries honestly seemed like they were cheap supermarket ones that were pretty soggy. The desert menu was also pretty much unavailable except for some ice cream. Suddenly seemed to be obvious why the place was empty when previously it’s been busy whenever I’ve visited. On the plus side, the young lady serving was very friendly and helpful. Overall it’s a shame the standards have slipped so much

Ordered via Uber eats. Had to wait for over 2hrs and until restaurant closed(at 10pm) before they processed the order of 2 burgers. Wasn't worth the wait. This is the first and last time we will order from them. If you can't process online orders in a timely manner- don't accept orders.

Chose blacks burgers for family meal out . On a busy night they managed to sort a table which we could use with high chairs . They were busy and I thought with no booking we might not get a table but the manager went out of the way to get us a suitable table . We ordered a variety of burgers ( Freddy was great and mrs had dirty burger ) and kids meals which were tasty and cooked just right , plates were empty which doesn’t always happen with the kids . The place is child friendly with the colouring sheets etc and value for money kids meals . The bill was what you expect in pretty much most restaurants for a family meal and with no service charge which makes a change even though the service was really good. Kids are asking when our next trip is for a burger so planning the next trip for my sons birthday .

Amazing Halal place! Honestly, best burgers in Epsom. Lovely service too. Truffle burger (I added mustard and caramelised onions) My wife had Big Cheese burger. We also had juicy Hot (Buffalo) wings.

My family and I have been regulars at Black's Burgers Epsom. The quality of the food (at a not unreasonable price) and the friendly service and ambience kept us coming back. Our most recent visit was the first time for a little while. And I'm sad to say that things have slipped. It's no longer possible to order in the restaurant using the website and QR code. Instead, everyone has to go up to the counter. There's only one till and with all the different options one has on the custom made burgers, what was once quite an enjoyable part of the process is now a bit of a nightmare. Especially when you have a family to order for as well. On top of that, there's a constant stream of Uber Eats and Deliveroo drivers coming in and out, which slows things down even more at the counter. It's stress that you just don't need as a customer. Speed of service was never their strong point, and given everything is made to order, we've never been too troubled by this. But this bottleneck in the ordering process slows it down even more. We weren't in a hurry on our last visit, but we were there for over an hour and a half. Two other things: there were mistakes with our order - no burger sauce in my Salty Streaker, and no tomato with the burger for one of my daughters. Having waited so long, we didn't bother to send them back but we probably should have. And the atmosphere in the place was flatter and a bit less friendly. It didn't put a smile on our faces like it used to. It's a shame - the quality of the food was still decent, but all good things come to an end, I suppose.

Went here with a my son and his friends to celebrate his 10th birthday . They got us a nice big table and managed to seat 10 on one table near the neon's ( which the kids enjoyed taking pics off !). As you can imagine lots of varied burgers were ordered , minds changed and then rechanged but the young lady serving us took it in her stride. The food came out in good time and everybody tucked in and enjoyed . We had some in the group that had special dietary requirements and they accomodated us . Special thanks to the manager or owner who gave us the free brownie and milkshake for my son.

Service for takeaway collection was abysmal. Ordered at home and husband went to collect at the given time (>45mins after the order v early evening). He arrived to find the order hadn't even been provided to the kitchen to start. Had already picked up kids food from elsewhere, so theirs got cold and spoiled whilst Black's caught up with the order. My husband asked for a partial refund to account for the other ruined food and additional parking he had to add to accommodate the delay, only to find the staff member shrugged (without apology) and said well we're only 10 mins late. No acknowledgement we'd ordered a hour before! Food was good, but this experience and rude attitude has put me off returning.

Group of us meeting up ended up in this Blacks burgers in the town center .Had to wait a few mins to get in on a busy night , there were 8 of us but they got a nice table in the end . Ordered various burgers , shakes and even the ice cream to top it off . Burgers were great ( comparable to anywhere i have eaten in central London ) , prices were decent and no service charge even though the service was spot on and food came out quick enough despite the restuarant being full . Nothing to complain about and had great night out with good food and friends .

A little unfair of me to say the atmosphere was not good because it was a Thursday lunch time. Food is good and a lot of gluten free available.

Been going here for years. The burgers are amazing! I also can’t get enough of the Korean wings. Would always recommend.

I had a booking on 28th March for my son's 14th Birthday. He does not have a Dad so this day is really important that it goes well as he only has his mum. I booked two weeks ago and was told as booking was for 9 people to pre order. I paid £20 deposit. I sent order on 26th March and then on 27th March and got no acknowledgement back. I Called on 28th at around 5pm (our booking was for 630) and Carlos said there was no e-mail of pre orders so to send to him which I did. We arrived and I told Carlos we were here and did he have any queries and he said no we were fine. After 30 minutes our starters had not arrived. I asked the kitchen and was told "no one told us you actually wanted your food" which was crazy because we had spoke to the head chef on arrival to check all was OK. We got our starters after 45 minutes and our main courses after 1hour and a half. Service was dreadful and the waiting and kitchen staff prioritised deliveroo and other on-line pick ups. When we ordered a drink at the till we had to await 15 minutes till it got to the table. For a burger! It was awful and totally ruined my sons birthday. What I am sad about is that we got a discount at the end but I would have rather paid full price and my son had an amazing birthday meal with his family and friends than get money off when the event was ruined when I did all preparation to ensure it went well. Am so upset and will not go to Blacks Burgers Epsom ever again

Standards dropped massively both in service and food. Not sure if there’s been a change of ownership but we didn’t recognise any faces in there back from the early days. We used to come here weekly. We even have our own Blacks Burgers T Shirts! Really not sure we’ll be back unless reviews improve. A few groans ; - overcooked chicken, really tough! - the bunless option used to be good but it really felt like the bottom of the bag dregs. - weird powdery banana gelato- inedible. - lady that took our dessert order decided to have a sit down after taking the order. So, 15mins went by so we had to ask someone in the kitchen to follow it up. The gelato came and then we had to wait another 10 and ask again about the brownie. Another lady finally completed it whilst playing on her phone (wow, hygiene) we were one of 3 tables left in the restaurant. - I saw another person complaining about service levels and others looking around for someone to bring them food which was saw waiting for some time.

10 of us had a table there on 6th March this year. We had contacted the restaurant before hand and they knew we were coming. We were told that it would be a wait of 45 mins for food as it was busy. This was not a problem and I duly ordered the 10 meals. After an hour and ten mins I approached the waitress and asked where our food was. She told me That the machine used for the order had not printed out the ticket for the kitchen so they had no knowledge of our order. She offered us free drinks but that was pretty pointless as we nearly all ordered the free soft drink refills. There was no communication from the staff about the delay until I approached them. Even though they could see we were just about the last people in the place and we still didn’t have our food. The staff had walked past several times. I sent a complaint via the websites contact page and as yet have received no reply. The food arrived 20 mins before they closed so felt rushed into eating it and leaving through no fault of our own. Have used Blacks for many years but this last experience has put me off going back. Food good. Staff and company communication awful

The young guy working today was lovely and was working really hard. There was only 2 members of staff on (not including kitchen staff), I feel a third was needed. We got there just before there was an influx of people, so it was a popular spot, the food and drinks just REALLY let it down. The food arrived before the drinks, and it wasn't even what I could describe as warm. The burger nor the chips. The 2 beef burger pattys you get are THIN and full of gristle. The milkshakes tasted super powdery and not enjoyable. We were hoping it would be a spot we would come back to, but, sadly the food really wasn't good at all., especially as lunch cost us over £50!!

Ordered via Uber eats. Paid for premium delivery. Food arrived within the allotted time. I appreciate food is never piping hot when it arrives but my delivery was inedible stone cold to the point I had to air fry the food to heat it up. Ordered skinny fries did not receive skinny fries instead I received soggy straight cut chips with a few skinny chips thrown in. Would not order again!

I ate here a while ago with my girlfriend. The burgers and milkshakes are exceptional! You essentially self serve with your drinks, but the staff and friendly and explain everything well. It’s not bad value, too, as you get meal package which includes the burger and side. You can also order for delivery. Probably the best burger bar in the area. Would recommend visiting if you haven’t already.

Took 2 hours to get a burger and fries and the refills machine took an hour to fix

Terrible experience - date night with hubby. Allowed an hour for a bite to eat waited an hour for the burgers below par and eventually had to take it out to make it to the film! Terrible customer service - really disappointed

90 minute wait for 3 burgers in 1/4 full restaurant (5 other tables) just so they can maintain their deliveroo commitments! How to destroy a great local business over night. I saw 3 other tables complain and one table got their money back and walk out. When the burgers did arrive the beef patties were cold and the buns hard, not sure how that last but is even possible as you have the steamer domes stacked up in your kitchen but no longer use them? Some things are worth waiting for, these aren’t, I give your burger 2/10. Really poor experience, we will not return. Either close the in-house sit down diner and do delivery only or SERVE YOUR PAYING DINERS!!! Will not return as this is the third time we have waited excessively and predict your business will be closed by Xmas 24 if you continue to make your customers wait this long.

Called to get a pick up meal. Said it would be an hour. After an hour I called and they said yes ready. Picked up and burger and chips freezing cold so has obviously been sat there and forgotten about. Called back and they said we’ll make new one and call you back when ready. An hour later I go down the restaurant and burger is sat on the side, no phone call. Food inedible. Giving the star for refund and apologetic. Pretty poor, 2 hours no burger.

Great burgers, well worth a visit

Lovely food and great atmosphere and just want to say how thoughtful it is that they have a basket of complimentary feminine hygiene products in their toilets which is very kind to look out for customers. Other restaurants should use your branch as an example of looking out for your customers.

I urge you not to eat here if you have expected food hygiene standards! I found masses of mould in the salad leaves that were given to me..this is completely unacceptable from a restaurant and I am upset this happened! 4 months prior to my visit, I came to Blacks and was surrounded by a smell of bins the whole time, as well as finding fruit flies all over the soft drink machine, and even a dead one in a straw I drank out of! This restaurant is disgusting and I feel sick each time i've gone. I will now never come back and I urge you all to do the same!

Blackburger used to be our favourite burger restaurant and we were excited to visit this place again after the renovation work. As usual, the burger was flavour packed and delicious but they changed the burger buns. Even though I had a brioche burn, it was dry and hard. I think it holds the burger ingredients better but overall it was rather disappointing. I am afraid we will not rush back to blackburger any time soon.

Best burgers in Epsom and decent portions. Build your own or choose from a selection of options and specials. Could do with introducing some different styles of patty but absolutely nothing wrong with the option presented. Decent small business alternative to Honest Burger.

We are Long time customers Top guys as always today excellent burgers! Got my order wrong and gave the food and refund amazing service.

Would have given no stars but no option. We took our 6 year old for a treat. Restaurant was empty with only one table taken. Uncleared tables piled up and staff totally disinterested. Told to go and sit at a table. 15/20 minutes later, no menu, no nothing. Only customer in restaurant was invited to kitchen to photo/video her freshly prepared burger, very staged/suspicious and was obviously uploading to SM. It was a disgusting experience. We left, the standing around staff just smirked. Obviously happens a lot. Definitely avoid at all costs.

I arrived at 12.15pm and was meeting three friends for lunch, I was told that they were not open for a few minutes and I said thats fine I will wait for my friends and asked if I could use the toilet. I was told by a female staff member that there is a public toilet up the road ???. I said four of us are having lunch in a few minutes but she insisted I could not use their toilet. So our group went to a different place for lunch. Will never go back to this place.

We went on a Tuesday evening at about 6pm for our daughters birthday, family of four. We live locally and have used, and always enjoyed, Blacks and their burgers have been exceptional and never had cause to complain. They have recently had a refit, and it feels like it's removed all the atmosphere from the restaurant - I can't put my finger on it, but something was missing. The staff barely spoke to us, he gave the menus but no explanation as to what to do, not a real problem, as we've been before but a simple bit of conversation wouldn't have hurt. Once our food was delivered, he never came and said is everything OK, when he cleared the dishes there was no was that OK, do you rant a dessert. Just nothing. Once again there are no non-alcoholic beers on the app, so you spend ages loading your order on to the app and then have to go up to the till and order the drinks anyway... The temperature is the restaurant was close to freezing, to the point where it was uncomfortably cold. Both my kids wanted to keep their coats on, which doesn't make for a relaxed meal. Food was OK. Burgers were good, but not as amazing as they have been in the post, the beef was a bit tough in places, chips a bit cold and onion rings straight out of the freezer! And nothing was particularly warm, not cold but could have been alot warmer.. When it's over £150 for mains, puddings and drinks you just expect a bit more / but today we got a lot less.. Very disappointing and doubt we will return now. There are better places in Epsom to eat nowadays...

Grandson chose this restaurant for his birthday meal. Arrived approx 7.15ish. Ordered food, still waiting an hour and a half later for food to arrive. All the managers from Wetherspoons Epsom came in well after us and were served before us. Probably a step up in food for them!! When we complained we were told our order had not gone through to the kitchen which was all of 3 feet away!!!!. Absolutely a dreadful experience. So bad they refunded our money. Not a place to visit if you want a nice evening out.

We have used blacks before for dinning and delivery . We used the Uber eats app and was told a delivery time . This changed 5 times while we was waiting for our food to be delivered. The app also told use the delivery driver was there to collect our food. 45 mins later he was still there?!?!? We also paid for priority but our food turned up stoned cold. Our kids burgers was so over cooked that they had turned crispy and inedible . We complained online but didn’t even get a answer . Thanks for a £60 well spent

Blacks Burgers is mine and my partners regular date spot. Every single time we eat here we leave completely satisfied, incredibly happy and ridiculously full. From the first time we stepped foot in here the service has always been fantastic from start to finish. All questions are always answered, the servers are always super friendly, kind and just an absolute joy to be around. The kitchen staff, I don’t know how you do it but every single burger we’ve had has been beyond 😍 We are loving the re-model too and can’t wait to see when it’s fully completed. I recommend this place to everyone, and will continue to do so. Honestly I could just rave about this place all day!!!

Perfect place for a pre cinema meal the burgers were delicious we tried both chicken and beef burgers also plenty of fries and slaw staff very friendly and helpful explaining how to order the blacks way !

Went in and asked for a bacon cheese burger to be rudely told they don't do bacon like I'd asked for something insane. But yet they have bacon in their processed sauces. I used to love blacks burgers. Sad.

Best burger ever!!! Very generous size and amazing taste so worth every penny. Nice and quiet during lunch time even with some work going on on the other side of the restaurant. And most important lovely and very friendly service ☺️

Excellent food and service is good. Eaten here a couple of times, pleased with the food on both visits. It was quiet both times I went in, but probably not peak hours, plus there seemed to be a fair few online orders.

The food here is amazing I love the burgers the homeade sauces are the best Love the ice cream so much it’s so refreshing would highly recommend to anyone trying to find a good new eating spot for themselves or family 👌

They now use cheap shop bought burgers. Tasteless. Overcooked, dry and burnt. I used to love this place but I see them closing soon as they’re like every other basic burger restaurant. After telling them about the food, the response was they will take my comments onboard. Wings were good though. £70 for 3 people.

As burgers go there is a very good selection of creative ideas to choose from! My partner and I both immensely enjoyed our sizeable burgers. I would definitely go back again!

Delicious 😋 We all loved the burgers 🍔 First time we came here for lunch. The waiter showed us a table and gave us the menus. We didn’t know we have to order at the till or via the app. After a couple of minutes he realized we didn’t know and came to us to let us know how to order. The burgers came fast and they were super fresh and hot. We will definitely come back!
