Black Rock Curries Loch Awe in Argyll & Bute

What a little gem! Lovely curries and very helpful lady. So handy as there's not much else around. We had veg madras, a mushroom dish, Bombay potatoes, samosa and bhajis, all really lovely. Not the same as an Indian restaurant but good home cooked food and very tasty. Would recommend.

Absolute lifesaver! We arrived at a nearby camping ground pretty late evening, and had forgot to pick up any food (all the local shops and restaurants had closed/stopped serving). Thankfully Black Rock were still open! We ordered quite a lot (curries, breads, rices, ides etc) and it was all fantastic. Tons of flavour, homemade - delicious! Highly recommend, if you're in the area. It's a small place but there's a wee sign on the main road, so you shouldn't miss it

Absolutely fantastic food.The lady was amazing and even opened up to let us in when it was her day off. We stayed in the lodges for 5 nights and had our dinner from Black rock curry 3 times.Please try you will definitely not be disappointed. It certainly is a wee hidden gem and so is the lady

What an amazing find! Food was delicious, I stocked up ready for home but had the chicken dhansak back at the lodge tonight, omg so tasty and definitely restaurant quality.

These curries are amazing and so tasty. We pop in regularly to buy and stock up freezer. We are curry lovers and these are an absolute favourite. We found it by accident while passing.....Best find ever. Highly recommend.

Food was basic at best however the total attitude from the women who runs the place was simply awful. If you don't like interacting with customers you should really reconsider your business. Your response to my comment just confirms that have absolutely no customer service skills or people skills, Since your response wasn't about me.

Curry is more like chicken stew no flavour to it the bombay potatoes were terrible never freeze tatties and the chicken pakora was breaded chicken nuggets so very disappointed wont be back

Unfortunately the curries wasn't as good as some reviews 😕, 1st we got 2 mutton bhuna 1st 1 was so mild I honestly thought it was a stew,2nd was same to my surprise it was a mixed chicken and mutton but still tasted like a stew,3rd lamb rogan josh more like a mild curry I have never had a rogan josh quite like this 1 ,4th was a chicken Jalfrezi tasted like an Iceland meal We were so looking forward to trying this place what a let down,

We had 3x vegetarian madras and 1x vispie and 2x housmade chicken. And I think the photo says it all. It was delicious 👍👍👍

Bombay potatoes, butter chicken, chicken masala and haggis samosa. Nom! Rock up to a small shed and choose from a range of home made frozen meals. The accessories are there - rice and breads etc. These are microwave varieties (Uncle Ben's and Tilda) with lots of choice. Loved it! Will def go back again if staying the area.

Quite a find! Great BRC curries, frozen for home consumption. Rather off the beaten track but worth the trip. Don’t expect to get exactly what you want from their long list of curries; they have limited space and so there will only be a selection available each day. Recommend taking a cool-box and buying a few extra to put in the freezer for another day.

Fancied a curry on Saturday night, went down to Black Rock Curry and bought a small selection of curry, enjoyed the vegan mushroom masala that much my friend had to bring me another portion on the way back from Dalavich the following day. Amazing customer service, lovely people and most of all in such a beautiful spot. Amazing for those planning on staying at Dalavich Lodges, just 5 minutes up the road rather than 55 minutes into Oban

Absolutely outstanding food and brilliant service. Not expensive and they're some of the best curries I've ever tasted. Unbelievable that this exists in such a rural location, loved the food, kind service, great price. Heated and enjoyed overlooking the Loch on a rainy evening.

Whilst cycling around Loch Awe We were surprised to find a shop selling curries. But really glad we stopped by and made space to take one home each. The butter chicken was easily as good as any I've tasted before 😋. Highly recommended!

Bought some curries from Black Rock in September 18 whilst on holiday in Dalavich. They were so nice i ordered £60 worth to take home with us. Fish pie is lovely to. Is this the most remote curry takeaway in the country?? i think it might well could be. 5 star food.

Stayed I'm dalavich for weekend and popped in on way home to get some grub. Absolutely phenomenal. Me and my wife had lamb bhuna,chicken chasni, bombay potatos and chicken pakora.Food was out of this world. If only I lived closer would never be out the place

Called in here while staying on holiday nearby. What a great little shop. Loads of varieties of curry and accomplishments. Helpful business owner. Really lovely curry. We had lamb biryani and chicken dhansak and both fab. You need to warm the meals up yourself but don't let that put you off Really great food and we'll packaged with cooking instructions. We should have bought more!

Love it! Great wee roadside shop selling fantastic curries. The guy was super nice and helpful!

Sells freshly prepared frozen curry to takeaway. You can drop in, buy yourself a selection and heat at home - fantastic flavours, plenty of selection, really delicious - highly recommended if you're in the area - good value too.

Sadly the place is closed on a Wednesday but says its open on the map this needs changing hopefully can try another day

Absolutely delicious best thing around and wish we'd tried them last year when we were here. Had chicken madras, thai green chicken and lamb balti. Chicken pakora for starters and bakewell cheesecake and Indian kufle for dessert. Well recommended

Great selection of delicious curries plus sundries! Don't underestimate how long it takes to drive along the single track road by the side of Loch Awe, though!

First time buying from black rock curries bought 6 different flavours for family, and everyone loved them. Just placed another order. Worth the drive from connel.

We often get curries from Black Rock, never been disappointed with either the food or service, one time I was overheard saying there wasn't any lamb bhuna, the lady brought one straight out to me from the back of the shop. We have also recommended the place and now our friends are regular visitors. Well worth a visit to the area and then to pick up a curry for when you get home

Traveled over from Crianlarich to kill some time on a wet day. Got some curries to takeaway and was delighted with them. Lot's of meat in them which was good. Like the honesty box set up.

Absaloetly amazing, great tasting, it makes sense to have all the things to cook at home because it's so remote! Not like a normal "supermarket" ready meal, they're awesome and a very good price!

Absolutely fantastic curry house. They have a very wide range of curries for takeaway meals which are super handy for anyone staying in the nearby cabins. They are open until late and if there is nobody there to attend they operate with a honesty box. They were a life saver when we forgot food and everything else was shut/too far away!

Terrible customer care. Says Curry house, so you expect it to be a takeaway sort of thing. I got there with my 8 year old son and 9 year old daughter to be asked to leave as I asked if they could heat up the frozen curry they had to offer. The owner (lady) was so rude I had to ask my children to wait in the car. Once they left she started shouting at me and told me to get out in a very aggressive manor which my children heard form outside and got upset. Definitely won't be recommending businesses like this. Being a business owner I understand how important customer care is. They don't deserve to be in business.

Absolutely delicious curries, we got four between the 2 of us and finished every last mouthful. So tasty! Will definitely have this again when we're visiting the area again in the future.

Situated in the middle of know where, I thought we had struck gold. Take away service, food pre cooked so has to be re heated at home which we did. The naan bread was moudy, not spotted until the bag was opened. It was in date so likely an isolated issue where it wasn't sealed properly. Big issue though was one of the curries my son found 2 hairs in it, it wasn't ours, it put us all off our food. The taste of the curry we selected wasn't great either, tbh it didn't taste like a traditional curry at all. I've seen the excellent reviews on here and was reluctant to leave one that would damage the 5 star rating as it is unique place that many will be grateful it is in existence, serving food to such a remote location. Just for that it should be a 5 star but the hairs in the food was unacceptable. Shame

We have driven past this little gem of a place many times when visiting my Sister in Law in Dalavich and only this once stopped to pick up a couple of curry's to cook when we get home...approx 300 miles away! How I wish I had taken as many as I could squeeze into the Campervan fridge! The curry's are absolutely gorgeous. Packed with flavour and fabulously spiced. I cant recommend this place enough. If they ever offer delivery to Nottinghamshire...I will be the first to sign up.

We had been waiting for months, with anticipation, to stop here. We rented the Boathouse a bit up the loch from here and found this spot while researching. Upon entering the shop, we realized how tiny it actually is. But don't let that fool you. It is packed with not only an amazing selection for food, but quite a nice little convenience shop as well! The food was absolutely delicious. We are by no means experts on Curries, but wow... The food is ready to grab, in little frozen packages. The menu is well displayed and super easy to figure out what you'd like. This place is a real treasure to the local community, as well as those vacationing in the are. Well done!

A great place to find during a day's cycling, the remotest curry house you will find and the best i've had in a long time, and fantastic value.

We were staying at a cabin in Dalavich and found this little gem on the way there! My husband drove back and picked up curries and some starters and we were not disappointed!! The couple who run Blackrock were so friendly and welcoming and they really have thought of everything you could possibly need for an amazing meal! All of the food we had was immense and the cheesecakes were to die for. This place was a godsend during our trip especially being in the middle of nowhere with a craving for spicy food! Perfection!

Cycling the Caledonia way to Oban, the garlic chilli curry of the day was nearly ready so we waited to have some, really delicious and wonderful wee place, beautiful garden and welcoming owners, was a taste of paradise in paradise

We stumbled upon this place at the end of a long day of cycling, and it is a lovely gem! Great selection of curries and other treats, including lots of vegetarian options. The owners were so sweet to talk to, and thawed the frozen curry enough so that we could finish heating it on our camp stove. They also gave us a great recommendation for a camping spot! We weren't sure what to expect from the curries but they were excellent, very well spiced and better than what we'd had in some nearby cities. After a month of camping in Scotland, finding this place remains a highlight of the trip!

A gem of a place and, although a good bit off the beaten track, well worth the detour. Delicious curries, very reasonably priced. Will definitely return (often, I suspect :-) )

Dropped in and they had plenty of stock. Excellent value and very light and tasty curries. Cheesecake was amazing as well
