Visited with my daughter tonight, she had the brisket burger which was very good, the meat was moist and tasty. Unfortunately, I had the chicken burger and it was the worst chicken burger I've ever had, bone dry overcooked meat, small portion inside the bun and totally tasteless. What a shame after reading all the good reviews; I was really disappointed. For 2 burgers, 1 portion of fries to share and 2 cans, the bill was £43.

Good food with succulent burger, good taste and for London a good price. A great experience all around. Would highly recommend for those looking for a quick, delicious burger for a reasonable price in the area.

Don’t believe the photos or hype on social media, the reality is nothing like it. Went to Exmouth market restaurant and had brisket spring roll which was tasteless and then had a burger which was undercooked and full of mayo, and looked small and insipid and just tasted of the mayo. A burger from 5Guys or even McDonalds would be better…

This really should be a 5 star review as the burger was fantastic and well priced. Worth the hype and sauce is lovely. Yes, Burger very good. However, 30 min wait that was in the end nearly 45 mins and it ain’t that busy. Or busy with online orders? Dunno. Chips are nice if not amazing (only had the basic). A lot of choice in this Boxpark for eating so they rely on their name maybe? All said and told, a lovely burger. We also tried the chicken burger. Subtle heat, crunchy and very good as well. Again, the hype is correct.

Went to the the Victoria Market Hall branch and we were impressed. The sesame buns really make the burger. We tried the original and Black Bear, the Black Bear was our favourite.

Burgers were cooked really well and tasted top notch, quick service too. Highly recommended for a casual lunch. Portions aren’t huge.

I went to Black Bear for dinner with my girlfriend and we both had a wonderful evening. Upon arrival a member of staff showed us to our table immediately with menus and asked us what we would like to drink. I ordered the Brisket Burger and my girlfriend ordered the Black Bear Burger, both with a side of fries each and a Brisket Spring roll to share. We both agreed the food was absolutely exquisite. And the service was fantastic and speedy arriving in less than 15 minutes. Good selection of beers too, which was a bonus! The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable with a genuine passion, enthusiasm and love shining through for their job and the products they serve. I really liked the open kitchen layout and being able to see the food being cooked. Also the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant was lively and fun. But not too noisy and overbearing whatsoever. Perfect balance! The location was fantastic in the buzzy exmouth market with a great life which added to the overall enjoyment of our experience of our evening. I would highly recommend Black Bear to all.

Despite being ‘in house’ fries and burger were tepid at best. For the price this is far from what is expected. Quite possibly a victim of its own success as it was impossible to collect order without fighting past a collective of moped riders.

Wings are amazing, so are the skin on fries. Good burgers, but maybes not as good as the hype. Staff engagement was great, friendly and a bit of humor. Overall I would definitely return.

Up there with Bleecker Burger as one of the best burgers in London! We had the Black Bear Burger and it was exquisite!!! Buffalo wings were delicious too. Chips could be improved though. We will definitely be returning for steak night!

Delicious burgers!! A tad expensive perhaps, but it's a sign of the times sadly....cost of goods is ridiculously high and therfore we have to expect to pay more. Service was very friendly and attentive, proper lovely guy who served us, can't remember his name, but he's a gem!! Beer selection was a little bit disappointing, would've expected more craft beers, and definitely at least one offering on tap. We all opted for cocktails instead which were all delicious! Would come back for sure.

I had a classic and fries. Fries were average at best. Burger was fine but nothing special. The bread was a total let down and cheap and nasty. Food is fine but i expected far better given the reviews, much better burger available around town.

We enjoyed our burgers- classic and brisket- with chips. Seated outside it was a treat. We were offered the delicious ice creams afterwards and our servers were attentive and friendly, well-deserving of the service charge. Needless to say, the restaurant was full, which was just fab to see.

Visited the Exmouth restaurant after seeing quite a lot hype on social media. Started well and we were seated quickly and placed our drink and food orders. A big reason of choosing this restaurant was it advertised craft beers online. Upon asking what they had on draft the waiter replied nothing which didn’t start the night very well. The burgers were okay very small considering the price of one burger was £14 not including the £5 side of chips you needed to order which was also very small. This is also when we noticed the service wasn’t up to scratch either. We were missing a burger and when we asked the waiter he seemed very confused and didn’t reassure us it was on its way he simply just walked away. We were left waiting a while wondering if this other burger would appear. Eventually I did but was just very odd the way the waiter said “oh I don’t know” and walked away. Another part of black bear is they say you get a complimentary ice cream with your bill however when the bill arrived there was nothing so I asked the same waiter and again got the reply “oh I don’t know” as he proceeded to take payment with a service charge added which I feel was very cheeky considering. I gave this guy the benefit of the doubt he’d come back with the ice cream but he never showed face again so I asked someone else who simply just told me “no we have ran out” at 8pm on a Friday this was a shock and ended the overall experience very poorly. Unfortunately I will not be back as the hype didn’t life up to expectations.

Very good burgers, very juicy, the patties had very good flavour, lots of choice in terms of different flavoured burgers, we had a blue cheese one and the double classics, both good and messy. We also had a side of nice fries and very tender chicken wings. The ordering system is easy to use, never used that before.

Visited Black Bear for the first time, and made the effort to travel out specially to Exmouth Market, as we’ve been wanting to try it. Started off well being seated. Burgers arrived on their own, dropped off speedily and the waitress didn’t return. We’d ordered two sides of fries too, so had to ask her if they were coming. She came back with one portion. Had to correct her to get the second portion, having clearly taken no note of the order to make sure it was complete. We also had to ask for standard sauces, again not offered to us. She had no interest in serving us attentively. The place was full to the brim with staff, and not full with customers, yet we were never asked if our food was ok nor revisited throughout. Burger was tasty (Brisket and Black Bear ones) although nothing out of this world, and overpriced. Fries were ok but again at £4.95 per portion, hugely overpriced for both the quantity and quality. This meant that the total for a burger and fries was between £18-£19 each, pricey by even London standards, and when compared to the many other good options around, unjustified too. Bill arrived with service charge of 12.5% already added, not even optional. I’m all for leaving a tip when earned but when enforced and in this case, unwarranted, it’s simply unfair to the customer, as the staff had done nothing to justify paying for good service. Oh, and the much promoted complimentary ice cream after your meal, non existent. In summary, at almost £50 for two burgers, two fries and two soft drinks (regular cokes), we’ve tried it, learned from the mistake, won’t return and would suggest that you consider the alternative options for good burgers in London before Black Bear.

The service was fine. The burger was unfortunately not my taste. I had the miso bacon burger. Although bacon is salty, the overload of miso kind of ruined it for me. The fries were nothing special, and quite bombarded with salt as well. The bbq dip was also quite meh. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Went to the branch in Victoria. Overpriced, undercooked burger with cold chips. Bad service as well. Was told there was no lettuce despite there being a box of them on the counter! Never again

Myself and my sister visited whilst in London and seeing all the reviews on tik tok. It was very quiet at Exmouth market. It only has approximately 10 indoor seats from what we could see but we decided to sit outside with a lovely breeze. The music was nice and was loud for us to here. We were served straight away. The burger was the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. Our waiter was very attentive. I really enjoyed the food. You also got a complementary ice cream which was lovely fresh vanilla ice cream. Only let down was the service charge of 12.5% we didn’t realise until we’d got the receipt that this had been added to what was alright a bit of a pricey meal. We also weren’t given the option to remove this charge. Never the less, the best burger and chips I’ve ever had!

Great tasting burgers - served with a variety of side dishes. It can be cold in the winter, so come prepared. Well worth a trip.

The Brisket Burger was up there with the best burgers I’ve ever had. If I had to be picky, the fries were a little too salty for my taste but I’m the experience was just delightful. 😎

Black Bear offer a really good value burger and get all the little things right. I'd recommend going for something simpler and actually preferred the non-brisket burger. They also deliver locally, though finding that out was no-doubt damaging to my life expectancy.
