Bistrove in Hillingdon

Took my family of 5 for sunday lunch of beef and all the trimmings at Bistrove today. The beef was tender and had a subtle spice added to it, not spicy but very flavoursome. Vegetables were delicious and the yorkshire puddings light and fluffy. I had extra gravy. To follow they all had chocolate cake and ice cream while I had a sundae. All in with drinks was less than £28 per person. Superb and bravo!

The pancakes were not pancakes. They were small pikelets. They also charged a ‘discretionary’ service fee. The coffee was ok. Overall, we felt we had paid far too much for what we got.

I ordered two scoops of ice cream in a wafer cone, times two. The initial issue was that one of the scoops contained THREE pieces of thin plastic wrapping; however this was rectified by the person serving. The next issue was the price. £13! I thought we'd been given the wrong bill but no... Four scoops of ice cream and two basic wafer cones really did cost £13. I was shocked. The ice cream wasn't flavoursome; in fact the strawberry ice cream had a bizarre sticky/tacky texture. I have no idea how £6.50 for an ice cream makes sense. It is safe to say Bistrove left a bitter and disappointing taste.

Hi visited here Saturday 2nd Dec., I was meeting a friend But she was a bit late so I ordered my food . I had the breakfast with two sausage and bacon. I egg, 1 hash brown beans etc I had two decaf teas and my bill was £17. I thought the cafe would be busy being a Saturday but it was empty . The breakfast was nice, I’m glad they have decaf tea option. I like coming here the lady who served me was nice she’s always there with her husband . Nice couple . Only one thing I wish they had is pastries or cake slices to go with a coffee or tea. Would be nice to have on a cold day. Maybe next time . I’m going back in few weeks .

We visited for an early dinner on Friday. The lamb curry dish had tendet flavoursome meat with a generous serving of flatbread. My partner's chicken biryani was tasty. I followed up with indulgent chocolate pancakes. The service was attentive its great to have this local food option in Ickenham.

Disgusting service. As the waitress/ owner handed our dishes she made a remark that ruined the whole meal and atmosphere for all 5 of us. We walked in with 7 people, two of which wanted a coffee only. Then the other two, went to get coffee elsewhere while the remaining 5 ordered full adult meals and drinks. As the lady was passing the food to us she made a remark of how they turned down customers for us to sit together. Firstly; we had a table of 6. Would’ve added an extra chair at the end to accommodate all 7 if they stayed. So table size wether 5 or 7 remains the same. Secondly; how unprofessional to speak to your good paying customers like this. I have been many times to this place before but never encountered direct contact with this lady, who clearly needs to manage her manners and business a lot better. Saying “ well thanks for that we thought you were 7” shows how greedy and unprofessional this business is. Needless to say it took over 35 minutes wait for the food to arrive. How disappointing when you try to help a local business out, but the business doesn’t value its customers. Avoid at all costs if you like having a nice atmosphere while you eat.

Their food is the freshest and healthiest brunch in the village. I'd recommend the avocado on toast with beetroot hummus- fabulous. Good flavoured coffee there too.
