Called here for tea tonight plain chow mein tasted like someone had added fag ash to it and egg fried rice was clarty and tasteless curry sauce acceptable as was the salt n pepper chicken Won’t be going again

Standard of food is good & is reasonably priced for a take out. Premises seem clean and meal ready for collection on time. However, the young woman on front of house couldn't have been more indifferent had she tried. No smile, no greeting, earbuds well in place listening to heaven knows what. Paid by card, not asked if I needed a receipt and simply turned and walked away before I could utter a word. She may have inter-personal issues or whatever that aren't necessarily her fault or, she may just be rude. But..... this young lady shouldn't be front of house as she creates a negative impression I'm afraid.

We’ve been ordering from this takeaway at least three times a month for the last three years. The quality of food is consistently excellent and we’ve never had any disappointments. The staff are lovely and friendly, the service is quick and the flavours are varied and delicious. Our favourites are salt and pepper chips, special curry, chow mein and wandering dragon.

Have been enjoying takeaway from here for over thirty plus years, but last night was a huge disappointment. More onions than anything else in the satay duck dish, salt and pepper chips major disappointment soggy and made with potatoes that had been stood to long in water, the special chow main tasted as though the pan had cleaning product still in it and the noodles had been cooked with the product, this was truly a unusual experience for a restaurant I have recommended to friends and family. Not what I am used to and totally disappointed.

After a day that involved an emergency dentists appointment and a broken down car decided a little treat was in order for tea tonight and as always the Birds Nest didn't disappoint.

We've been using the Birds Nest for a Sunday evening takeway now for a couple of years. We've always been satisfied with the price/quality. Last Sunday I made a fairly standard order - salt and pepper squid, beef chop suey and beef curry. It was so far below average I could only describe it as bad. Tasteless, poorly prepared and a culinary mess. Is this temporary or has some basic changed following your closure ?

The Bird's Nest staff are always willing to help with gluten free options. The food is always freshly cooked and delicious.

A quick Sunday evening takeaway as the usual local pub I eat at when staying up here was closed due to Covid. SO I thought I would try a Chinese as it was not too far to drive. The food was very good indeed, no greasiness at all. Perfectly cooked Singapore Fried rice noodles with just the right heat of fresh chilli and they were happy to leave out the onions (there could have been just a little more meat and prawns in it? to get excellent rating) .. the fried rice was good too. Next time I am in the area I will certainly try them again for a change.

We are so lucky living in Wirksworth where there is such an excellent Chinese take away. Service is prompt and it is not too expensive. Ingredients are always fresh and of high quality including the meat. Well worth a visit for oriental food.

Such a fabulous little Chinese takeaway ! The choice is great, food is very flavourful and not at all greasy. Really good choice, we were pleasantly surprised by how good this takeaway is - and visited several times!!

I telephoned my order through and collected in 15 minutes later. The food is tasty and a good price. Lots of other people were collecting their orders and phoning them through while I was there, its a busy but well organised takeaway. They offer a good varied menu to suit all tastes including English options. They are open Tuesday -Saturday 5pm onwards.

We decided to try the take away again after a mediocre and off putting last meal some years ago. This time the food was freshly prepared and not microwaved like our previous visit. Portion sizes were good very tasty and staff pleasant. A stream of people telephoning orders through and collecting them, always a good sign. We will buy from them again.

We've had several takeaways from here in the past 6 months and it's always been lovely. The staff are helpful and friendly, food is tasty and fresh and the orders are right. Highly recommended!

We used Birds Nest twice and the food was excellent on both occasions. Good value for money and some we would use them again next time we visit Wirksworth.

Having reviewed this takeaway very positively in the past I now have to retract everything I found to be true at that time. New people and a new cook have been unable to come anywhere near my expectations. The meal we had yesterday was average at best but most importantly the chicken in the curry was definitely not fresh to say the least. My husband decided it was safer not to eat it. My chow men was OK and my daughter was not entirely happy with the so called "Happy Paradise". Sadly will not be returning to this, our local Chinese takeaway, until we hear that the food has improved.

Believe me when I say, this is the worst chinese food you will ever try in your life. I eat ANYTHING and I couldn't manage to stomach this. I never bother writing reviews but thought I had to it was that bad!!

I went here last week and what more can i say than it was awful, half of it tasted half cooked, swimming in grease and the gravy was more water than anything else.

The Bird's Nest serves a wide variety of takeaway Chinese dishes as well as a good number of standard English choices. Service is generally quick and staff friendly and efficient. Quality and quantity are both good and value for money.

This is the best takeaway around this area food fresh and friendly service. Try the set meal for 1 which is actually enough for 2 for less than a tenner!

Después de mirar algunos de los comentarios aquí pensamos que sería, merece la pena ir, pero quedamos muy decepcionados. Costillas en salsa bien eran sosas, de los 4 principales 1 estaba bien el resto pobres, especialmente el cerdo dulce y agria con no tenía sabor y la carne podría haber sido cualquier cosa.

Had the set meal for 6 people £50. The service was quick and the meal delicious and not bad value for the money. Would go again.

Had a lovely takeaway of duck fried rice, mushroom chop suey and onion rings - best I've ever had! The duck was succulent and meaty.

Tried this takeaway when we moved to Wirksworth. Recommend the crispy duck with pancakes. It comes already shredded and the container is packed full. Delish :) Better than other local chinese takeaways. Note: Not a restaurant, takeaway only.

Nos alojamos en una casa de campo para vacaciones en alquiler en la zona el fin de semana y probado la comida china. Sólo tuvimos costillas acampadas y arroz frito de pollo, pero estaba bien. Sólo eran las patatas fritas. Estoy acostumbrado a las suaves de mi local y sus eran demasiado crujiente para mí.

We are not sure if there are new owners but we recently had a take away and it tasted fresh and seemed good value we all enjoyed the food.

Been a long time resident and used this place numerous times, so many I can't count over the years.In my opinion it's hit and miss. Some weeks, it's the best Chinese takeaway around. Another week it can be bland and not worth the money and poor quality.

Having recently relocated to Wirksworth, I had read the previous reviews I was concerned, but as it was local I decided to give it a try. I went along at 5.30pm and there were already several people waiting for the food, but my order was taken and the other peoples meals came very quickly, I waited just 7 minutes for mine to arrive, the experience was pleasant and meals were good quality. I made a point of visiting the next week and was equally happy with my meals, the staff are friendly the food is fast and good quality, prices are good for what we have had. I recommend you give them a try !

Walked in at 10.30, Saturday night, ready to close not intrested, young girl sweeping around my feet, asked for sweet and sour chicken without sauce, was ready before I even paid which suggests not fresh, got home to find processed chicken in a sauce which I didn't ask for..........to be fair this is the trouble with trip advisor as the owners must of commented to boost ratings as am a local and I speak for everyone, do NOT eat here unless your homeless as for the 7 rating that's out of a hundred and that's to much, ps tried to ring to complain, nothing as I think they are aware of selling crap, be warned

Really extensive menu covering all tastes in Chinese Cuisine. Portions are extremely generous and the prices are very reasonable.Bonus is that they are open on a Sunday night when most others are closed,but they are closed themselves all day Tuesday.Service is quick and efficient and if you have to wait, there is a pub 25 yards down the road!
