Great fish shop. People very friendly and helpful. I found quantity and quality. Can’t grumble at all . Food hot , food tasty . And I live nearer to other fish shops what are less excited. Mike @ Preston

Food delivered spot on time, piping hot. Actually meal greasy, over cooked stodge. Chips brown and not appetising at all, fish was lovely and white, batter was inedible. Pizza was over cooked, fries inedible, looked like they had been cooked the previous day then reheated. Visiting the area would not use again or recommend.

Chance find As I was out of area and just driving past. Was impressed with the shopfront as it looked very new and very clean. Two brothers running the place were very polite. The menu is very comprehensive and I had the large fish and chips which was truly large and very fresh. Very reasonably priced. Glad I found it

After getting a leaflet through our door for Bilton fisheries, my husband wanted to try the donner meat as not many places in hull do lamb donner (it’s usually beef). My husband ordered in store and got a tray of the meat. It was rubbish, £5.50 and the portion size was shocking small. Probably about 8 strands of donner meat. I couldn’t believe they charged my husband £5.50 for the smallest portion I’ve ever seen of kebab. We’ve been to a lot of kebab places so we know what’s an average portion. I genuinely think it wouldn’t fill a child never mind an adult. Won’t be returning and glad we only tried it out rather than spending loads there. Don’t recommend the kebab!

Called for fish & chips oh my god the batter was mushy the fish tasteless the batter was uncooked inside and what little fish there was it resembled a watery mess the chips were hard and over cooked whatever you do drive on buy over priced and tasteless mushy mess I will not make this mistake again

had the same order delivered to sproatley several times donner kabab and fish & chips allways on time could not ask for better

So impressed with Bilton chippie. We ordered kebab, large chips, salad and a meat feast calzone. It was delivered to our door quicker than expected. The service was great and the food was lovely, better than Prestons Al Capone.5 stars from me

this is one of the worst fish I have ever tasted, the fish had so strong a smell in the car when I got home and the unwrapped batter was flat, not crispy bubbles stuck to the greaseproof paper could not separate from paper to plate, no wonder there's never a long queue outside , avoid this fish and chip shop

I have just paid nearly £8.00 for a large fish and chips. Got it home and it was absolutely disgusting, the batter was a total mushy mess and the bit of fish that was in the batter was also tasteless and watery. I will never use this fish shop again it was awful.

We have driven past Bilton Fisheries on our way home on many occasions with a feeling of sadness, as it's always empty. Is this the Papa's effect? Well quite possibly, but I think it's more down to it being rubbish! Right, on to the food... Tasteless fish with overdone batter which was thicker than my winter coat, brown overdone chips, and to complete the trio of overdone rubbish, scampi - that wasn't scampi. The over theme continued when it came to the price too with it costing £20.10 for 1 x Small Fish & Chips, 1 x Large Fish & Chips, 1 x 9 Scampi, 2 x Gravy, and 1 can of 7UP - the only part of the experience I enjoyed. Take my advice, drive past, follow the sign to Aldbrough, and go to a decent chippy, THE FRYING FARMER - this is where we'd have gone if it hadn't closed at six.

Fish, chips and peas was excellent. The fish was very fresh, white and chunky in a crunchy golden batter I would say cooked to perfection. The chips too were golden with a slight crispness and soft inside. The mushy peas tasted fresh made and were light and juicy - (not stiff, dark and re-used like most places! ) The service from the two men was polite and friendly. The shop was very clean and contemporary and better looking than most. There were a couple of benches outside in their nice driveway were we sat and ate in the sun. It was fairly priced. On leaving I just had to tell the cooks that the food was excellent! and they thanked me very much. My only negative was that the vinegar was watery, but all fish shops are buying in this new tasteless product that is not allowed to be called vinegar as it is a cheap substitute that usually says “vinegar flavour” on the bottle. No pickled onions these days either! And they could extend their menu to include other types of fish and even prawns! ..that would be great! This place could lead in offering more variety, and imagine a slice of lemon and hand wipes!...if only! I look forward to returning but I will take my own REAL VINEGAR!!

second time i have visited . first time batter golden crispy and no under soggy batter sorry last visit was rubbish and if this owner takes on board hes not going to survive , i was looking forward to eat fish and chips and once it was right , but not anymore my dog loves fish and chips , but even he didnt touch his , thats it it says it all

The batter on the fish is too thick. Hence the inside is not cooked, even. slimy. Used to be a good takeaway. I rang the shop after last visit but the owner(?) did not understand.

This is fake haddock. Slimy fish. Real haddock is firm and meaty. So disappointed. Batter shocking. Don't know what it is made up of but just awful. Used to be such a good fish shop. Will never buy from this fish shop again.

Having moved away from Hull 16 years ago, we visit annually and were really looking forward to a decent fish and a much missed patty. How disappointed we were. The fish was mushy and the batter not cooked properly, so there was a layer of slime over the fish. The chips looked and tasted like they had been cooked at least twice, they were dark brown, rock hard and stone cold. Worst of all was the patties! These looked and tasted like they had been in the warmer all day but someone forgot to turn the warmer on; they were rock hard and cold with a hard shell-like exterior that may in a past life been batter. Never again. Avoid this place.

Standard not as good as it used to be, chips over cooked, think they were warmed up, the fish was wet inside.

I visited at lunchtime with my husband. We ordered chips,sausage,pattie and a bread cake and it was almost £6! The pattie was chewy and just a ball of congealed mush inside. It was the worst I've ever had. The server was checking the temperature to see if it was still ok to eat. I should have been suspicious then. It was almost black on one side where it had been resting. Probably from tbe night before.

Where to start !!!These were the worst fish and chips I have had in my life. Anaemic looking batter that was slimey and raw. Chips that had been fried several times. Cold watery mushy peas. Rude staff ( not the girls) the male about 35 years old. Very much over priced. I wish I had read the reviews on here before I went. Read the negative ones they are True.

we wanted fish and chips and it was a Monday and it is surprising how many fish and chip shops close on a Monday but bilton fisheries came to the rescue - cooked to order including the chips and now they have some outdoor table and chairs - just what the doctor ordered

What a difference since last visit, agree with negative posts uncooked batter bland chips.I asked the young girl who served me where the the two regular girls where,to be told by an ignorant man who i presume was the owner they don't work here anymore,i said why have you sacked them he said yes i just said says it all to the young girl.Wont be going back.

Very disappointed in the fish. It was thin and covered in batter that was still mushy(uncooked) on the inside. Chips were mostly potatoe scraps. Peas were nice though. Staff were miserable and the meal- a sit down carvery would be cheaper.

Was a regular here untill it was taken over, last time I purchased from here for 2 people was nearly £20 and the portions were terrible. Not good quality fish either

This used to be a regular weekly visit for the best fish and chips around with large portions but it's gone downhill now. New Years day visit included soggy twice cooked chips and fish with the batter falling off.

After ordering a small fish and chips, I dont expect the owner to be saying things like 'why not get a big fish for a big woman' to my wife!! Cheeky git. Wont be going there again.

Called in for Fish & chips and was disappointed with the quality. £14.50 for Fish, chips & peas. Service was good but the food not. The batter on the fish was very thick & not cooked through leaving it 'sticky' and greasy. The mushy peas had a strange texture. To say I'm dissapointed is an under statement.

After usually visiting another fish and chip shop around 5 minutes away, I decided to give this a try. Although the wait was a little long it was beautiful the fish and chips were really tasty, much better than the other one. I am now converted!!

WARNING don't go. I ve just come home fuming. I watched the server push the old chips to the front and the new chips to the back. I watched how she served my family with old chips. I TRIED one while in shop cold greasy curled up like it had been sat all day on a plate. I asked for refund she refused at first then gave me 5 pound back . No apologies nothing 15 pound the meal cost. I m disgusted. How rude.

Decided to try this place out after a recommendation from a friend and I was very happy I did. The shop is very smart and trendy and clean. The service was very good and the staff was jolly and polite. The Fish was the best I have had in Hull I have to say, portion sizes was massive and I didn't manage to eat it all. Definitely the best chippy Iv'e been to in the area and I think now I will keep returning until I have a bad experience but I don't think I would. I highly recommend this place now too. Well done keep up the good work.

Just had a fish and a pattie from this fish shop. Fish was ok and cooked to order but the pattie must have been cooked at least an hour before and just kept war, The batter wasn't at all crisp and the pattie itself was just like eating a big dry lump of mashed potato. Definitely not recommended.

Excellent fish and chips. Go here, don’t go up the road, this is miles better! Can’t comment on anything but the fish

Just had fish and chips from here wonderful,done to order so nice and fresh with great crispy batter plenty of chip's and loverly patties My only complaint mushy pea portion was small otherwise it was perfect you can even phone your in for a certain time and it's ready piping hot for you so for me it now beats Papas which have disappointed me the last couple of times

We call here quiet regularly on our way home never been let down yet great staff all ways polite nice and hot cooked fresh every time and good old fashioned service with a nice clean shop I recommend it

You would think this takeaway was busy ( it’s not) the quality of food is miles behind Papas situated 10 minutes down the road , it’s more expensive, and you pay through the nose for it!

We tried here one night a few months ago and was not impresses. It has since been re-fitted so we thought we would try it again. We called in about 6.30 on the way home for a large chips, 3 sausages and 2 pots of gravy. Firstly we were waiting for 15 minutes and when we were told it was £6.60, we nearly walked out. We paid because we were starving but the food was average, nothing special for the price. Won't try them a third time.

Large fish and chips hot and fresh, sometimes have a little wait bit dont mind that if the quality is good which it was far batter than the other Papas place in my opinion very clean

I have been a few times now this fish shop is first class very clean staff are very polite and cherful will defintley reccomend. It and the choice of menue is great try it i promise you wont be dissapointed the large fish is massive absoulety brillant. Good luck to bilton fisheries

Out of a lot of fish shops builton fish shop is one of the best around looks great test great great service

Sophie and Kelly were very welcoming and accommodating. Never been before so was very impressed. I wanted microwave fish which they did without question. My wife is gluten free and fat free. We usually go to another fish shop on the east coast but was told that to try this one for the microwave fish. We were not disappointed. Will go again without question. Well done Bilton.

Fantastic huge fresh fish, massive portion of chips and perfect mushy peas. First visit from us but will definitely go back again. Proper good value for money

Fantastic fish, chips and mushy peas!! We've tried a lot of the local fish shops and this is by far the best one in the area. Most things are cooked to order. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. If you haven't tried it make sure you do.

I love this place! The staff are brilliant, they always have smiles in their faces and really friendly. I absolutely love the food here it's spot on. The portions are brilliant and the food is top quality. I have recommended to my family and friends.

Went here on Friday afternoon. Ordered fish and chips twice. Considering it was Good Friday at the time I went the shop wasn't really busy.

Been to a few fish shops in my time, but the fish I bought last night is the best I have ever had. Thin crispy well cooked batter and solid white fish. Absolute delicious. Staying loyal to the local shop has certainly paid off.

The food here is very good, the service is quite slow and while you are waiting the door is left wide open and on a cold day it is very uncomfortable, yes I want to support my local businesses but close the door , pleeease x Great value for money with a very generous portion of chips x

When you go into the chippy you see a menu on the wall... BUT be warned this is not the only fayre that they serve... they do have a full standard menu offering also on top of their listed offerings.
