Big T's Restaurant & Takeaway in Kingston upon Hull, City of

Very rude staff in the seating area complained about it being 6:45, telling us we had to be quick. We paid £9.50 each for this fish and chips—see photo. £38 for four people… look at the state of it

The quality of the food has deteriorated a lot since my last visit. The service also has, I spoke to one of the servers and said that we were still waiting for our cappuccinos. She started to say that they could only do one at a time. I knew that but no-one was anywhere near the machine. She was very rude to me and said don't worry you'll get your coffee. Certainly not the service I would expect from anywhere. I definitely won't be visiting again and certainly wouldn't recommend.

Been here a number of times since it first opened, replacing the old shoe shop I believe. The fish is always very white and fresh, there's not too much batter like some other places and the chips are chunky and none of it is too greasy. The small fish is a good size and not really small, it's probably the best fish n chips in the local area, I used to like All Electric Fisheries but it was replaced on Beverley Road by somewhere not as nice. I've tried other places recommended by others but non were as good as Big T's. Yes prices have increased but it's decent value cheaper than many other takeaways including McDonald's which is set to build a new one nearby, it's third in the HU7 area alone! They also do events for children and adults sometimes too.

If im in the area i usually pop in, unfortunately its been a long time since our last visit. Use to love the pattie and chips, that megadon fish was class, although a very long time since they did that. Looked forward to our afternoon meal, ordered two fish andchips peas , pattie and chips, and a seperate pattie for me. Pattie was okay, the chips werent on par with our previous visit. Small portion, but tbe fish was a bit of a let down, was really small, and we both felt like it was more batter then anything. Its a shame because ive always rated this chippy highly previously, i thought maybe it was a off day, but ive seen a few negative comments. Try it again, hopefully i wont be as dissapointed, other wise it will be off my radar in future

What an awful place. Where to start..... Well, an occasional smile wouldn't go amiss, I walked in just after opening to be greeted with a miserable blonde girl staring at me as though I'd done something wrong, when I asked if they are open, she replied sternly with "Yes, but were not doing fish and chips" , good job I wanted a sausage sandwhich then Eh! Next visit, the chips were just terrible, worst in the area as far as I'm concerned, they looked good but raw and hard in the middle, and the fish is a joke, I asked for a large fish, only to be rudely told the sizes have changes and that theres a sign on the counter, apparently, I should of been aware of the signage..... The large is now medium, the medium is now small, you get the idea. I stuck with my order of large fish (which is now small with no price reduction) after I had left and opened my lunch I assumed they had got my order wrong as the fish was little more than a fish finger size and almost all batter, I felt cheated. So with the crap chips and tiny fish you have lost a customer, I can forgive the bad chips, maybe having a bad day, but the fish is ridiculous and points to just pure greed from the owners. Poor quality and god awful staff.

Patty and chips, they both tasted dry and lack of moisture. The price was a little steep at £4.10, I've more for money elsewhere with better quality. Very disappointed ☹️

Bought a large fish .was nothing but batter.would have had more fish from 2 fish fingers.Used to go quite often.Gone right down the pan.Besides that were over charged by 95p.Wont be going back.I buy fish not batter .

Decent service but portion sizes are a joke . Ordered a large fish and it was the same size as a Birdseye frozen portion and was nearly all batter no fish . Mentioned it to the staff and they said sizes had changed but menu hadn't...so basically admitting false advertising. Poor

Lovely girls really friendly and helpful, I’d been told to go here as the chips etc were ‘amazing’ Not sure if they were having a bad day, but the batter was soggy and doughy, which made it unpleasant to eat. I checked with a friend on their food and their response was the same… New flour? Batter not chilled? Oil not hot enough? It won’t stop me coming back, as businesses have bad days, and I get that.. but just wanted to give some constructive feedback.

Hubby been raving at this place and I didn't get it. Come for tea,now I do. Best chippy I've had in a long time, lovely staff and nice setting. Will be back

Ordered 3 medium but got 3 smalls they forgot my meal ordered another medium and got sent the proper size this time. Tried to say the other 3 wernt medium but they insisted they where never going again terrible service the staff didn't know what they where doing .

My husband and I came here for breakfast. The staff were very friendly. But the food was a big let down. We both had a full English breakfast. My husband ordered his no tomatoes and scrabble eggs. The lady realized and did a different one with no tomatoes but had over easy eggs instead of scrabble. He was annoyed but started to eat the eggs and then found a big egg shell in his eggs and I found a hair in my eggs. We both was very disappointed. They wasn't even that busy. So not sure what the problem was. Like I said before the staff were very nice and welcoming.

I used to love this place but recently amount has dwindled considerably, on a dinner time I used get get chip butty with loads of chips in it, the last time I got it, I had to ask if there was a bread cake in it as it was wrapped, and felt as though there was hardly anything in, there wasn't. I went last week to get large fish, chips n peas, but they don't do large only medium so I had that, well I've had bigger fish fingers and nearly all batter and a piddly amount of chips 😥😥😥.I think I'll be going the extra mile and going to kingfisher on endyke, to notch chippy 👍.

We are once a month regulars here and the food and staff/service has always been excellent. But We visited on 22/11/24 and was very disappointed with everything. They changed the menu in which the size of the fish was smaller for the same price, my fish was mostly batter anyway! All with a price increase. The service was terrible, The blonde waitress was very ignorant, she slammed everything on the table with an attitude, but here's the kicker: she refused to top up my teapot with hot water saying I'm only allowed 1 cup of tea with 1 pot unless I pay for another pot which wasn't that hot anyway. So will give them a massive swerve now. One to avoid I'm afraid!! 😞

I have found my new favourite chippy takeaway. It's clean, staff are friendly and food is good. I came in on Good Friday expecting chaos however there were loads of women working together and providing a great service. The prices are not the cheapest but the food is amazing, fresh fish everytime and the curry is delicious. I'd rather pay that little bit more for decent food from a decent friendly business.

The fish patties are so lovely, and the batter is amazing just a great place, for lunch and a natter the atmosphere is is friendly

Food is so over priced for what you get. Fast services but won't return prices are asif its in a high end shopping center not an industrial estate.

First visit fish was amazing n chips perfect (woman cooking) second time fish was good enough but defo not cooked the same (male cook) sausages were decent but tiny and mushy peas were great would defo go back when in the area

Horrible place to eat, they use the same fryer for everything… fish/fries/chicken all in the same fryer you can taste the old oil filled with fish in everything… and 40p for mayonnaise lol😂

Horrendous experience as just walked out of this place. Sat there for nearly 10 minutes and the young girl completely ignored us. When i got her attention I got a stare and was again totally ignored and she carried on what she was doing. Her attitude was of total dismissiveness. Been coming to this restaurant for many years and this has totally put me off coming back

Only fault was table wasn't cleared when we finished dinner even though we had another drink so table was full of dirty plates tea pots etc.But on the plus side it is a Lovely clean restaurant. Very pleasant staff. Food hot and didn't have to wait long for it. We had a very pleasant afternoon and we will be regular customers.

The food was absolutely awful, don’t even know how to cook toast after it been repeatedly burnt then made another toast to it been raw bread. An absolute waste of money here. Would not recommend.

Awful experience here will not be returning. Don’t seem to know the difference between lightly done and burnt toast not only that Food was bland and low quality :)

Check your bag before you leave!! Too many times have items of my order not been put in my bag. To be told, once again, that a certain item has been bagged when asked, only to find out when I get home that it hasnt.... how hard can it be!! Chips hard on occasions. Re: food......had better. No more business from me I'm afraid.

Used this place a year ago and gave it 5 stars however used it today 18/03/23 the food was OK but the service was nothing short of dire, ignorant, miserable, and really disappointed, this was the takeaway and not the restaurant, if you don't like your job change it

Just had a medium fish special with peas and a patty. 10/10 - can’t believe I never knew this chippy existed. MAC certified, quality is great.

It's a great place for a breakfast very nice, it does other foods plus a takeaway service, nice clean toilets, plenty of room for wheelchairs

We love this fish shop but very inconsistent with portions. Everytime I change my order it lets us down so that's why I have only given 3 star till they sought this out.

This is more than just a chip shop , visit the restaurant at the side I had a lovely light lunch today , and it keeps surprising a coffee shop with relaxing seating great for any type of meeting and even a bar for a tipple anyone say Irish coffee ? Then the toilets are absolutely spotless as uis everything all friendly from the boss and everyone you come across how could it be anything other than 5 star

We often come here to eat,the staff are usually so friendly and polite,however today we were left waiting to place our order for a fair few minutes,staff were busy I’ll will agree..but when they did get a minute totally ignored us and went to someone who had just walked in,we’d already waited too long so ended up just walking out,disappointed

Went two times over this weekend. Can't praise the staff enough. Used the toilet facilities and they were immaculate.

Really nice fish and chips, light batter perfectly cooked, I can highly recommended a visit, they have a large restaurant or if you just want a take away they have a normal chippy next door.

Staff very polite and helpful and food was delicious would recommend to anyone else.

It's not bad and pretty cheap. Curry sauce is nice but the chips are always under cooked.

Loved this place. Have visited twice now and had the regular breakfast and a latte. Brilliant value for money, food always very hot. Great friendly waitress and very clean surroundings.
