Great start to what it think is a new business. Ordered a burger and s+p chips from this place as a new listing on just eat, which is nice because there’s only about 6 places on just eat for my area and they’re all getting a bit boring. So estimated delivery from my 20:12 order is estimated to arrive in about an hour…20:57 I get the text message from JE saying food is in the way…cool… 21:30 still nothing, it’s been an hour and a half since I ordered…so, I think 5 more minutes I’ll give them a ring, so I look up their number and get concerned it says they close at 10, and with 25 minutes to go…I think well better ring them now in case my order needs re-doing. I ring them a lady picks up and assures me that my food is on the way and somehow “just eat” has been playing up…I don’t know how since the order was confirmed over an hour and half ago, but I thought well maybe it sent that message that it was in its way too early..benefit of the doubt and all. Now it’s five to 10, 3 minutes away from two hours since my order was placed and one hour since it was “on its way”. I’m thinking, they’re shutting any minute…I ring back. Same woman on phone says she’ll ring the driver and call me back in 5 mins….she didn’t. However the driver..or cyclist maybe turns up just after 10, with a sodden cold bag, a wet burger and the wrong fries (piri piri not salt and pepper chips) So..here you go, your first trip advisor review.. so my total came to like £22 for cold rubber piri piri chips and a cold chicken burger…. Embarrassing.

Food wasn't that great beef burger was burnt, vegan bun was very burnt and fries were freezing. Probably the last time I'll order from there.

TLDR: Overpriced, would not recommend, I stayed at the hotel attached for a week on business and ate here only once. Expensive restaurant that's is called steak club but only offers 3 steaks? 2 of which are £36 and the other is a flat iron (braising steak?) For £26? Seems a bit steep for me, but your mileage may vary. I had a pasta dish it was good but not very big with no sides of salad, which was £18, starters and deserts ranging from £9-15 wich again seems a tad steep. Drinks are pricy too at £7 a pint. Overall, I had a mediocre dining experience. The food was good, but the portions were small, and it wasn't anything to write home about. Think a standard meal with a drink or two is gonna set you back £50 per person. Service was good. The staff members were attentive and the food was fast, suspiciously fast actually, table booked for 18:00 food eaten by 18:18 so prepared fresh in say 5mins? Maybe? Question. I suppose at the end of the day, it is what it is : a pretentious restaurant attached to a pretentious hotel. Would I recommend it? No, not at all.

The oldies can still be the best. Lovely atmosphere, stupendous wine list and service of the utmost charm led by the lovely Anne Davidson. Old school at its best and does exactly what it says on the tin. Go before they are no longer there. Defines hospitality.
