Lovely old school pub, ever changing real ale, gins and single malt whisky

Had a nice drink in a superb pub.

What a place, in a row of terraced houses, if it wasn't for the lamp above the door you would miss it. Inside it is a multi-roomed pub with nice ales on hand pull. Very cosy with fires in each room (albeit vintage gas fires), and there is a games room with a dart board. We'll worth the 5 minute bus ride+5 minute walk from Halifax town centre!

Proper locals pub in a very tight neighbourhood. Small selection of beers but all well kept. Friendly staff and customers.

We called in Saturday afternoon for a drink, my first time in here, a very nice welcoming from staff and customers, warm and cosy too. 😀

Been my local for 50years new owners are very good keeping it as it was updating and catering for smokers could do with less dogs as they smell worst than cigs when wet Staff friendly always give a warm welcome Ellie is a brilliant bar person very efficient and always cheerful

Home from home pub, open fires with a warm friendly feel. Good service,good choice of beers. If you didn't know it was there, you would miss it. It is two terraced houses knocked through. Well worth a visit.

It's been a long time since I came here. I'd forgotten what a great pub this is. Lovely decor and atmosphere. Obviously, fantastic beer from local breweries. And friendly and helpful staff.

The 'Six has been my regular for nearly 50 years with happy times with Duncan & Sheila then John & Leslie. Sadly since the pub changed hands a couple of years ago it has suffered from a lack of basic maintenance. The Manager, Alison, has done a stirling job but is let down by the (absentee) owners who are letting things slip. The fixed seating is in a poor state throughout, not helped by dog owners letting their livestock on the seating. Two of the three gas fires are condemmed, and have been for over a month. Flooring around the bar and various other fittings are in desparate need of repair, cellar cooling fan drums through the pub and annoys the neighbours. Otherwise the Six remains a great pub with a good selection of beers and spirits and is a real hidden gem, but really needs TLC from it's owners before it's regulars drift away. Please help this pub !

Everything is great, really nice pub with great beer. Unfortunately this is all ruined by the rude, unwelcoming and unprofessional bar lady. I cannot fathom how she ever got a job in customer service. If this is your pub, why ruin it by hiring someone like that? Will not be back.

Better than it's ever been, so glad it was saved. and still one of the few remaining true pubs, a great place to meet your friends or just drop by. Always fabulous beer and nice people. Have to say the value for money is very good, and the ale excellent as ever.

Out of this world, just like it was 30 something years or so ago, fantastic to see pics of my old School mates and teachers, well maybe not so much the teachers!!!

Hidden away in residential terrace terrace the Big Six is a real gem with a great range of well kept beer and real ambience. Also has a beer garden out the back with plenty of seating.

Friendly staff and ale is consistently well kept. The unspoiled traditional pub interior is a step back in time (in a good way). Not many of these about anymore. Great beer garden in the summer and cosy open fire in the winter. Not sure what more you could want from a boozer tbh.

Great real ale pub well out of the centre of Halifax in terraced row.. Not the easiest to find but 577 Boulderclough bus stops only a couple of minutes away at top of Savile Park. Good range of beers kept in great condition and friendly staff.

Quiet little quirky place. Never imagined to see a pub smack bang in the center of a terraced street. Traditional old style pub with good atmosphere and good prices. Very impressed. Got busy Friday 4pm onwards too.

Wow what a busy pub. It harps back to times of old, a real gentleman's pub, though suitable for ladies too. Good beer and a lovely warm atmosphere. Well worth a visit or two, or three, or more...

Amazing place. Im so glad it has been taken over and the new owners have kept it the same. The big 6 has been my local for 22 years and im happy they haven’t changed it. Good luck to the new owners and good luck to the previous owners (of 35 plus years) retirement. Pandemic? Beer left in lines to go off? None of that here, perfect pints, table service masks and hand gel all around. Great bit of semi normality that I've been missing for months.

What a pure gem of a pub, a classic old boozer of which there are sadly too few left, small, snug rooms, fine ales, a warm welcome and a nice beer garden. Tough to find, tougher to forget.

A fine place with excellent hand-pulled beer. Customer care is of high priority here, especially during the difficult Covid times. Rules and regs make things safer. The staff are doing a great job. Great beer garden too. We'll be back soon.

The bar maid made the day. Well presented. Very attentive and had a good report with the locals. My first visit here for a long time. The beer garden was lovely and clearly had lots of time and effort spent on it. I did not have go inside once for a drink. I did use the toilet which was small but well labelled and smelt fresh and clean. Defo recommended. Nice walks in the area

Nice little pub for a few drinks with a nice beer garden. One woman tho spoils the pub with her attitude towards children. We are not the only people that has said that as well. Apart from that it's a good little pub to just meet for a few drinks (without children!)

This pub is a terraced house on a street. It is cosy with real fires and you can take your dog or cat in. I used to drink in here when at the School across the road and recently called in and it’s exactly as I remembered it. Please don’t ever change as it’s perfect
