We visited for a family luncheon and had booked the cabin which is situated in the adjoining garden area of the tea room. There were 10 of us and we all had a wonderful experience. It was very cold and wet outside but inside the cabin was very warm and cosy. When we arrived the log burner was lit and the cabin was very warm, a problem easily rectified by opening the door to allow it to cool a little. We were going to be tied to time so we pre booked both our tables and our food. Sharon had sent the menu a few days in advance as requested by me and we had all chosen our meals. The Christmas specials were an excellent choice. Baked potato with turkey, ham, stuffing and salad, or a festive toasted sandwich teamed up with the most delicious cranberry sauce. The service was fabulous with Sharon and her team attending to every detail. We had ordered a whole Tipsy Chocolate Orange cake and it went down a treat. Despite the rain and cold we felt warm and very well cared for. If you’re looking for something a little bit different, friendly and genuinely tasty home cooked food, you will not get any better than Bide a While. You can taste the quality in the food and Sharon only serves food cooked from wholesome ingredients made by herself or her chef.

A beautiful tea room and great friendly service. Though they managed to cater for me - gluten and dairy free and not meat eater, the choice for me was ver limited. The menu was neat dominated. So I was very disappointed. Similarly for dessert, because of my intolerances in gluten AND dairy, it was only meringues and strawberry. There are huge choices now around with intolerances and I was disappointed to experience such a beautiful place was so limiting for me. We were a party of 5. The other person who was vegetarian found it limiting in choice but the two meat eaters were very satisfied. Service was friendly and efficient. I would love to make it a frequent gaunt but I feel the menu would have to offer more choices

Went with friends for a lunch after hearing great reviews about this place. We were certainly glad we made it here as the food was delicious and the staff very helpful and attentive. One person in our group had special dietary requirements (gluten and dairy intolerant) but this wasn’t a problem as they were able to adapt dishes to suit. Will definitely be back again

We visited Bide A While on Saturday morning for breakfast/lunch. It was my first time there, but definitely not the last. The food was amazing. I had bacon, marmalade & cheese toasties, which were totally delicious, followed by the most amazing lemon meringue pie that I have ever tasted! In fact it was so amazing, I cannot stop thinking about going back to get another slice!! To add to this my mobile phone battery had died & Sharon the proprieter spent time finding me a charger to use, in the middle of her busy routine! I cannot recommend Bide A While highly enough. Many thanks again. Pamela C

This is a hidden gem located near Markethill in South Armagh. It’s a coffee shop with the most amazing array of cakes which are all homemade by the owner Sharon. Breakfast and light lunches are available too. Decor was simple and homely plus with quirky light fittings featuring cutlery and china cups. Everything was served on China tableware by a team of cheerful and helpful staff. Finally, prices were very reasonable. I will definitely be back!

WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! This place in actual fact deserves about 7 stars. It is FAB!!!! Okay, lets get down to brass tacks here, it is a bit off the beaten track, but you know me I will go to Hell in an hand basket for a good bun and or traybake (wasnt Helena Handbasket a 1970s drag queen??) its a short jaunt off the main road between Bessbrook and Mountnorris, look it up on Google maps or the AA road atlas or ask the sat nav woman to bring you to the door of Bide A While. You really will thank me, honestly this place will put most other eateries in the shade. Some lovely lady decided to build a large annex off the side of her house, now dont get me wrong this is no place for Anne Frank, its a large brightly lit airy conservatory type off shoot from the main house, lovely little tables and chairs not so crammed together that you feel you are almost having sex with the people sitting beside you like in some places I've been. Decor is bright and welcoming, tastefully furnished and with a distinctive homely feel without it being like sitting in your Grannys parlour. Now onto the menu. Tea, coffee and scones £1.50 ONE POUND FIFTY!!??? What, are we back in 1967? Too cheap! Slices of cake £2 and traybakes £1 I mean COME ON, this place is waaaaaay under priced for the absolute quality of stuff you are getting served up. We had soup and 2 THICK slices of the most delicious wheaten bread, a toasted sandwich and side salad, tea for 2, lemon cake and a humungous slice of apple tart, all for £12.80 I mean you just would not get it anywhere else.

Very busy when we called but quick & very pleasant service. Tasty fresh food and very nice surrounding. A wee gem hidden in the countryside

Just been to this little find and the food is absolutely amazing - excellent quality with excellent service - just outside Mountnorris - definitely worth a visit and highly recommended for anyone on holidays from further afield - not to be missed. Will be here next time I'm home from Essex !

Visited a few days ago with my wife for a light lunch. We had heard good reports and decided to try it.The cafe is a little out of the way but I can assure you that it is worth the journey. I had a delicious open prawn sandwich and my wife had a salad sandwich followed by a gorgeous home made range of home made deserts with tea and coffee. The cafe itself is an extension built on to the owners home and is very cosy with a wood burning stove for cold winter months. The menu itself is ideal for people looking for a light lunch.but I noticed that they do hot breakfasts.Well worth a visit if you are in the markethill area

Can't believe I have only recently discovered Bide-A-While! Looking forward to getting back over next week with my nanny now that my exams are over. Excellent customer service, lovely atmosphere, great coffee and the baked goods are to die for! I've never tasted brownies so good!

When spending a few days with friends in Mountnorris a visit to Bide a While was a must. Welcoming staff, most delicious homemade sandwiches/scones/cakes (too many to choose from) and all very reasonably priced. I loved everything from the wheaten bread, cheese and chutney to the quaint décor!!

Lovely food and great for families. The menu is traditional Irish food, really tasty. Potential for entertainment with music, and can book for large gatherings.

Service was the worst at our stay in the hotel, staff were asked twice on drink order took 45 minutes also our friend found a hair in her chicken curry which puts a question of the hygiene rate in the kitchen, also staff didn’t know anything about the menu and staff weren’t informed on what was on the menu. The food we had was lovely and the atmosphere was perfectly fine. Credits to the lady with the ginger hair she done everything we had asked her and knew her job role very well The hair in the food problem was resolved with a discount much appreciated but still believe regulations need to be made.

Terrible service and waiting time. Order over phone at 12.50, walked over at lunchtime 1pm and waited a further 15 minutes on 2 mixed chips.
