Ordered the Pla rad thik for £ 14.90. Fish was stale and stank.Food tasted awful with very small portion size.You will get a full fish for that amount in any other Thai take away restaurant.The sauce was stale and tasted like something that had been microwaved from a big drum. After a few attempts to eat I gave up and binned almost everything .

First visit with a friend that has been many times. Shared 2 mains and a pad Thai. Chicken Teryaki and a Bhan Thai crispy duck. Every mouthful was so tasty we cleared our plates. Lovely friendly service. I will definitely be returning

Really authentic Thai. Cosy, very attentive service, we feel privileged to have such a nice restaurant nearby. The fried squid was crispy and well presented. The weeping tiger sizzling beef steak was perfect cooked medium. Can also recommend the soups, pad Thai and the authentically spiced green curry We missed dessert but it looked temping. Best to book in advance in weekend, even if open most/all days.

Not posh - it's wipe clean tables and slightly untidy counter - but the food is good , the staff very friendly and helpful, and the cost pretty reasonable. We'll be returning.

This was my first visit to Bhan Thai. I picked it as it was a midway location for the two of us, so mindful that the location made it an ideal place to eat I would have been happy it the food had just been average, but it turned out to be the best Thai meal I've ever had!!! The restaurant itself is a casual setting (cafe style) but the food is absolutely superb! The staff were fabulous too, so friendly yet extremely professional and welcoming. I am already planning my next visit to Bhan Thai and can't wait to introduce more friends to the place

We've been using Bhan Thai for at least 6 years. NEVER had a bad experience! Since lockdown we now get deliveries and they are hot, accurate and the food is simply AMAZING. Delicious. Rather than a chain it's home-cooked and you can tell. So glad it's our local Thai!

Had a takeaway due to lockdown. Our 3 meals were delicious as always. The food came on time and was hot, I ordered on Ubereats and the driver was polite and left the food on the doorstep after ringing the bell. I look forward to sitting inside and eating in the restaurant soon.

We went out for dinner with some friends on Saturday night but unfortunately due to circumstances regarding the restaurant we had booked, found ourselves at Bhan Thai. All I can say is that this is one of the best Thai restaurants we have ever visited. The restaurant staff were really welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic and the night went well. Thank you, we will be back

Very disappointing experience. We found a leaflet in the house looking very promising therefore I invited friends for a dinner. We ordered 4 different main course and prawn crackers and due to the fact that I'm a big fun of Thai food and tried most good restaurants in the area I was very much looking forward to the food. I read some great reviews so I was confident I won't disappoint my friends. Unfortunately the only authentic taste came only from prawn crackers and the rest was edible but nowhere close to what it should taste like: Green curry and jungle curry very watery and lacked real flavours Pad Thai - way over sweet my friend couldn't finish Pad Ki Mao - normally my favourite Thai dish but on this occasion was a disaster. Old vegetables, horrible pasta and awful taste of the sauce. I ordered 2 portions and both me and my wife looked at each other when we tasted it with big disappointment and none of us wanted to finish it. As I'm caterer i love food and trying out my local restaurants but unfortunately I will never recommend you guys to anyone as my night was clearly ruined and I had to pay this over £40.

We have eaten here many times and have always enjoyed excellent food and service. Since lockdown we have used the takeaway service and the food was as good as that served in the restaurant. It was delivered on time and was piping hot. The standard is consistently good and food is very tasty.

It’s a busy time of year so we ordered a takeaway and collected as we are very close by. Once again the food was excellent. We are so lucky to have this restaurant ‘on our doorstep’ and could easily eat there a couple of times per week. Highly recommended.

We were en route and needed something quick and easy for lunch, but didn't fancy motorway food - this came up as a good option and we were pleased to find that there was a short free parking period which did the trick.It's more of a simple café than a restaurant with hard chairs and very little in the way of the usual Thai decor - but the price was okay for lunch and it was served quickly and without fuss, and most importantly the food was fine.

I took my parents here for a quick dinner and found the food inedible. The service was completely fine (although they didn't ask why there was so much food left over), but I could not believe that they had Thai chefs in the kitchen... My parents both ordered something called jungle curry which did not look at all appetising with a very thin and watery sauce and which tasted incredibly salty (the vegetables and seafood were fresh though). I ordered the spicy noodles where again the key ingredients were fresh, but had been fried in a straight-from-the-jar orange-coloured, salty gloop which made everything inedible. I ended up just eating the prawns. It was very disappointing.

This is a little gem! We are visiting Potters Bar from Australia and we love coming to this restaurant for their lovely food and friendly service. Tonight we had the mushroom satay and prawns wrapped in rice pastry for starters, and then the Kaeng Panaeng curry and roasted duck in tamarind sauce. All four dishes were so tasty and flavoursome. We would highly recommend this little gem to everyone for their food and their service - eat in or takeaway!

Wanted something different so we decided to try this place out after a recommendation from a friend, last minute decision for a take away. Thai green chicken was very nice, symphony of flavours, would recommend. Bbq duck was also very nice, I found the sauce a bit too sweet.

My now husband and I ate at this restaurant around 6 years ago when we were first thinking of moving to the area. Our meal was delicious, freshly prepared, authentic and reasonably priced. We've been back countless times and have taken other family members and friends there too.

The 2 grilled prawns starter I had as a take away were burnt so I drove back to complain. I was told they have no control over the grill, that people like it like that, that’s why they order it and that’s what the dish is. I questioned that people enjoy burnt food, but they were unwilling to offer me anything so I walked out in disgust. Will take me a long time to go back, if ever!

Quick fast thai food, but very tast. It is fine in the summer but winter you need to find the right table otherwise sitting near the door and windows can be very cold. They need to have an inner lobby or extra side window panels to keep the place warm

I’ve never been let down at the bhan Thai, the food tastes authentic and I love that you can see the kitchen. On quiet evenings I have often watch the chefs and taken notes on technique and ingredients.

So I will begin with by expressing how much I love their food. I have been coming here for about 5 years now. Every time I order, I order the same food because I love it so much.

Two went for dinner and were not disappointed.. The starter of chicken satay was moist with nice tasty thick sauce - a fine example of this dish. My husband's green thai curry was excellent - he is very fussy about his thai curry and he agreed that it was tasty. It was so yummy that he finished his rice with the sauce! My taramind duck was also good. Portions of coconut rice was big and had a lovely sweet authentic taste. The recommended Thai red wine was absolutely delicious, went perfectly with the food.

Just popped in for a quick meal on way to the cinema. Service was really quick and food was excellent as always and such great value. Looking forward to going back.

We ordered a take away last Saturday night. The meal arrived much earlier than quoted which was great. The delivery driver was friendly and polite and most importantly, the food was excellent. Highly recommend.

We have ordered some takeaway last night as we have done in the past couple weeks from Bhan Thai. The soup was lovely as well as the green curry, however the chicken teriyaki was badly off!! It smelled really bad as we took the lid of the box. I thought I give it a try but even the strong teriyaki sauce couldnt hide the bad smell and off taste!

I shouldn’t believe Trip adviser review on this restaurant. They don’t know how to cook Thai food at all, it’s a disgrace what they served the customer. I ordered Thai BBQ chicken, and it’s just a piece of chicken breast cooked in microwave with soy sauce. Thai BBQ chicken should be marinated with garlic, coriander, etc, not just soy sauce. Papaya salad was too salty, and sticky rice was again microwave cooked until it’s too hard and dried, uneatable .All other dishes were like frozen food from Wing Yip, frozen spring roll, Frozen Thai fish cake, etc. Our meal came up to £72, too expensive and they expected the 10% tip as well. If you are Thai and dare to open the Thai restaurant, please cook a real Thai food with real Thai flavour to serve Farang people here! You made me sad leaving your restaurant as your cooking damaged the reputation of good Thai food. !!

I very much enjoy the chicken satay skewers and noodle dishes served by bhan thai. The dish with broccoli is both tasty and healthy. They really only miss out on t stars because the rice portions are quite small and when they are ordered for delivery come in a plastic bag that looks like they haven't cooked it themselves. Improve the sticky rice and you are on to a winner.

Having a quick dinner in this busy little restaurant. Service was excellent with more staff than you normally see for the size of place. Food very tasty and good quality. Only problem was the front door, every time the door opened we were blown lots of cold wind. You need to book.

This is small family run restaurant offering very tasty and freshly cooked meals and very reasonable prices. It is best to book to avoid dissapointment. All the staff are very friendly and we have taken some very fussy eaters and they were very impressed.

Me encanta Bham tailandés! Es un restaurante muy pequeño que sirve comida de buena calidad recién preparados y un precio muy razonable. Está en la carretera principal y tiene poco en la manera de alentar a los comensales desde el exterior. Es pequeño, pero es el tipo de restaurante que uso para mayor comodidad cuando no tienes tiempo (o dinero) para una noche completa, pero ventoso es ideal para un cine teatro, antes de la cena pre.

The restaurant is very simple but cosy. The owner and all the staff are really nice and helpful and will surely suggest the best dishes to order if you are new to Thai cuisine.Since returning back from Thailand I have been dreaming of a good and tasty Pad Thai. And surprisingly the one I got at Ban Thai was delicious: fresh prawns, perfectly cooked noodles and big portion.The curries are also good and I would definitely recommend them.It's very affordable as I always pay around 35-40 GBP for 2 people.

Although this restaurant has been in Potters Bar for years it is just far enough away from us that we hadn't visited before.The décor is very basic, no table clothes, paper napkins, etc more life a lunch cafe, but they were busy and the food was good.Like someone else mentioned, we were sat near the door and in Feb it was a little chilly as people came and went. As the dining area is small, there is probably little the restaurant can do about this, other than to direct those collecting takeaways to take the 2 seat table near the door rather than the 4 near the kitchen.

Real Thai food with the correct herbs and spices. It's not a dumbed down version so more customers will Like it. I've been going here on my own and with my family for about 7 years. It does get busy but trust me the food it spot on. Jungle curry is always perfectly hot for me with a coconut rice and a Thai beef salad. BANG you can't get better trust me people. Met friends here who had been once before and had a good food experience.All four of us had lovely food i had the "Som Tam Thai - Green Papaya salad" as a starter beautifully fresh and quite a lot of fresh chilli would definitely have again and for mains i had the green Thai curry again very fresh tasting spicy but not overwelmingly hot. One of our group was Vegetarian and there was a good choice for the Non meat/fish eating people.I would recommend this restaurant and look forward to a return visit in the not to distant future.

Went on basis of previous reviews it was my friends birthday. Upon arrival it was busy...a good sign I hoped. The staff were very pleasant and tried to be very helpful they were mostly young girls I am guessing students. The food was greasy and as though reheated Not impressed at all. Notwithstanding they had run out of chicken satay at out 7.30pm booking. . I ordered a drink the glass still had its label on it I sensed that it had just come out of the packet unwashed. Attempts to reassure me that the glasses are hand washed and that's why the label uninterrupted was still on the glass really didn't succeed. I asked for it to be changed and 5 minutes later the ice having melted glass brought back with further explanation. I really couldn't be bothered to go into it further so I drank the blimin drink.After food around 21.30 I could smell smoke coming from the back. one of the girls (one who didn't serve us) walked passed and wreaked of cigarette smoke. ok look im ex-smoker and we are the worst complainers but when I did smoke I had a lot of consideration for those around me. Nuff said.

Ban Thai has grown in popularity over the relatively short time it has been in Potters Bar.The restaurant is small but generally busy. I wouldn't dress up to go here and in general it is a busy day restaurant rather than an evening one.In the winter it is a bit cool as the front door kept opening due to the wind! The menu is limited but good. with a variety of hot and tasty meals. I couldn't understand the waitress easily but she got there in the end. I have ordered a delivery before, but for some reason it is the most expensive place in Potters Bar. generally a lot of liquid and very little content for the many.

We eat here fairly regularly and had yet another lovely meal a few nights ago. The menu is not vast but everything is really well cooked with lovely flavours. This is a no frills restaurant but excellent food at good prices. They don't pretend to be something they are not - they just get on with cooking really nice food.

This is our go to Thai restaurant in the area - food is always fresh and delicious. It is a very small restaurant and can get busy so always best to book if eating in but we often opt for take away but again be prepared to wait if ordering at busy times.

Small, family run, cafe-restaurant serving traditional home cooked Thai food. The menu is a bit limited as the kitchen is very small, but there are some tasty dishes to choose from. We highly recommend the duck and the curry's. For dessert, try the banana fritter. Service is always relaxed and friendly. Home delivery is also available and has always arrives well packed and piping hot.

We've got takeaway a couple of times now. My wife always has the pad thai, and I usually have the kaeng panaeng curry.Nice, but wouldn't say it's amazing.Haven't really tried much else though, so can't comment on any of the other dishes.Makes a change from the usual Chinese or Indian takeaway...

We thought this reminded us of a Thai cafe we used to eat in Jersey. The waiting staff were really friendly that's why we stayed probably out of politeness. The fish cakes were like rubber and very greasy! Prawn toast I've never tasted like that before and again these too were greasy. The mains Red Thai curry and Penang curry were almost the same! No different at all! My husband actually makes a better Red Thai curry especially when he uses their authentic paste. The Sweet and Sour Pork is the worst I've ever tasted. Portions small. Just to mention that there was a piece of newspaper stuck on a piece of chicken !!!! Which I sent back and they made a new bowl of it and apologised. We should have taken the hint and just paid for what we had eaten out of politeness and just left. We left thinking we are definitely not visiting this ever again. One of the worst meals we have had since living in the UK!

I think they have changed the chef. This is my 4th takeaway and it is definitely not as tasty as it was a few months back. I also dined in at lunchtime and that was also not great. I would recommend to use some home made sauces as the market is such that you can buy some amazing high quality ( green Thai) ( pad Thai stir through) ones. I think the food needs to be more authentic

We had supper here on a Saturday. It is a small restaurant, so booking is important...as it is often busy. Food was very good, fresh cooked and tasty - loved the starters especially - each with a sauce that matched beautifully! Prawn pad Thai yummy..and all of our party enjoyed the meal.Wine - we tried the white wine from Thailand (9%) and a bit sweet, though it was better with the food. We usually have the Thai beer, and I think we might go back to that!Good value, and friendly charming staff.

All items marked as vegetarian have fish sauce in it. This is against the food and EU law and the restaurant should immediately correct their menu as Fish sauce is not vegetarian.They have items on their menu as vegetarian, but these items contain fish sauce in it.Vegetarians- be aware!!

This place has become a regular favourite. The service is friendly and quick. The quality of the food is always excellent. I'd highly recommend it for lunches especially if you want a proper meal but only have a short lunch break . It may not stand out on the high street but it is definitely the best food that I have had in Potters Bar. Freshly made and very tasty.

We like the Bhan Thai. The food is fresh and fast, it has the feel of a SE Asian cafe, the staff are friendly and efficient, and its prices are reasonable. However, when we last visited I felt the portions had shrunk. Our mains were not big enough to satisfy and we needed five starters between four of us to make a decent meal. That said, the meal was lovely and what we were served hit the spot. We also tried the Thai wine which is currently being promoted. It's from a vinyard in Monsoon Valley, Thailand and it's very good - and for £13.95 a bottle is a great cheap option. Recommended.

Lovely place, warm service, very simple decor more cafe than restaurant - light and airy. Delicious food, not too much deep fried stuff to tempt you away from the delicious nasi goring and pad thai - would highly recommend.

I was always such a fan of Bhan Thai and have used them many many times. I have dined in the restaurant a number of times for both lunch and dinner and also have had several meals as take aways. Initially the food and service was 5 stars, I couldn't fault it and I recommended it to everyone I spoke to. As I work in Potters Bar I was becoming a lunch regular and was really pleased until I had a couple of bad experiences so I stopped eating there at lunch about 8 months ago. I have continued to get carry outs however the last few times I have had bad experiences and I keep giving it another chance however last night was the very final time. We picked it up on time, when we got it back home (3 mins away from the restaurant), all starters were freezing cold, the satay arrived without sauce, the rest of the food was distinctly average, I felt very sick later in the evening and can only blame it on the small amount of food that I actually managed to consume! Perhaps they struggle with their new found popularity but ensuring that the food leaves the kitchen hot is surely a basic requirement of running a restaurant. I felt the need to write a review as for me, a take away or meal out at the weekend is a treat I look forward to all week and when it is inedible it is a real let down. Really disappointing!!

Definitely the best Thai restaurant in Potters Bar, we come here a lot. We're very fussy about Thai food having lived in Bangkok for a while; we know what's authentic and what isn't.Bhan Thai is excellent, both for lunch and evening meals. The lunch special is exceptional value and they don't scrimp on the portions. Evening meals are more elaborate, but still not expensive.The food is always very fresh and spiced as you like it. Service is good even though they simultaneously handle a roaring trade in takeaways. Highly recommended.

Tried this out as the other Thai was closed. Staff were friendly and food was ok. Thai fish cakes and satay chicken were good starters but the chicken red curry had a lot of sauce and not much chicken. Pad thai was rather mushy. Will be going back to the other one.

Visited here for dinner last night with my partner and my parents. The waitress was delightful - friendly, polite and professional. The menu itself has the usual Thai fayre (surprised that there were no set meals or starter platters - although I do not tend to go for set meals I do like a sharing platter to start, but was not a major issue). The food and drink arrived in good time and all tasted delicious. To start we had Thai fish cakes, chicken satay and prawns in filo pastry. For our mains we had chicken yellow curry, duck in tamarind sauce, stir fry chicken with cashews, King prawn pad thai and two portions of egg fried rice. Then to finish I had deep fried bananas with ice cream. The bill came in at around £20 a head which I felt was good value for the four of us (we shared the three starters, the four mains, the two rice, had two deserts, 3 x beers and a bottle of wine). This was my first visit to this restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. My favourite food is Thai, so I will certainly be coming back here again.

I love coming here, whether it is for the express lunch.... easily get in, order have fresh food cooked and served courteously and with care, eat and get back to work within the houror in the evening with friendsor as I did this year with my staff for Christmas meal. Catered for us all, meat eaters, vegans and vegetarians. Brilliant.

Visited this restaurant a few weeks back. The service was awful not friendly at all and the order took over an hour to come. The jungle curry tasted like super noodles. Not impressed.

Our second visit to the Bhan Thai and it was just as good as before. Fresh food, beautifully prepared and presented by friendly staff. Spot on. It's like stepping into a cafe in SE Asia. The atmosphere is perfect. You have to book at busy times because it's extremely popular - and justifiably so. There is a great menu with many of the traditional Thai favourites and some interesting variations, too. Great place.

I have been to this restaurant twice before over 5 years and was never quite sure but on the third occasion I thought I should write a review.Basically you could do better with pastes from a good oriental shop.The food is totally mediocre and my companion on this occasion commented that I could have done better,Essentially I am going to get some fried chicken to fill me up as this low grade stir fry really didst cut the mustard...

Great veggie options, freshly prepared and very reasonable prices. Taking it over for my works Christmas meal and looking forward to it!

Average food and poor value. I was amazed how little meat there was in 2 main dishes. Probably less than a single chicken breast (across both) despite both main dishes costing £14; basically a lot of coconut milk. Taste were what you would expect but nothing much more than that.

Solo restaurant meals are never much fun, even with a charged iPhone but the nice no fuss food at Bhan Thai certainly added some extra enjoyment to my quiet evening.In a Nutshell, Bhan Thai is all about the taste. From the hot and sour soups to the spicy beef salad and green curry, it was all packed with real flavour. As restaurants go it's relaxed, unpretentious and friendly. The prices are reasonable and I'd recommend a visit if you're in the neighbourhood.

Went to Bhan Thai with friends last night. Cosy atmosphere, small and compact. The food is delicious. The Pork Dumplings and Fish Cakes for starters are tasty.... The Red Thai Curry is delicious as are the Noodle side dishes... Portions are very good for the price... I will be going there again to try the Jungle Curry as I am a lover of spice.
