Benvenuti Cafe in West Dunbartonshire

We found this Cafe using Trip Advisor on our way to Girvan. Just 5 minute detour from the main road, was worth it. No parking by the premises, so parked just around the corner. 2 minutes walk. Cafe was welcoming, light and lively. Coffee for myself and Wife, and my daughter had smashing mango smoothie. Our waitress was nice and friendly. Recommended for a quick stop from Coffee or a snack.

Friendly welcome in a warm and cosy place. Enjoyed a tasty lunch and good coffee. Clean and bright interior. Thanks for the great service.

This is our local and we’re lucky to have it. Really cool cafe with lovely staff. Great for breakfast and light lunches. Delicious cakes and home made soup too.

Warm and inviting cafe. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. The smoothies are very good, would be good to try them on a hot day in the summer. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

Was visiting for the day and used this place for something to eat and drink for lunch. Was pleasantly surprised by food and service. This place is definitely worth a try. And will use again.

We were passing through Dumbarton and remembered this cafe and our previous good experience. The welcone was warm and the cakes excellent. We had a fruit sliced and iced gingerbread. There is outside seating. Some canopies or shading would be good as the terrace is in full sun.

Just love this cafe. The food is always excellent, my fav cappuccino is always ready when I arrive followed by many refills as I’m never in a hurry to leave. Home baking well worth a try......... especially the walnut cake. Staff so friendly.

Very interesting menu. Family and friends are regulars. Always clean and the food is fresh. Often get a takeaway coffee when passing.

Coffee and cake ordered. Only one type of ice cream available. Cake very dry. No sugar offered with coffee. Staff friendly enough but too busy to cope with covid requirements and waitressing.

Discovered this place via Trip Advisor. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, great menu, even tastier food & drinks and all reasonably priced.

I was surprised to see that review from David as I have always found Benvenuti so comfortable to be in, and staff, food and drinks first class. The staff are always pleasant and make you feel at home.

Visited today for breakfast. Food good but staff need personality transplants. Not very friendly. When I mentioned that my second double espresso was only warm the member of staff I took to be the manager " I can't adjust the temperature of the machine !". I said the cup couldn't have been pre warmed she was obviously not best pleased ! This was confirmed when she brought a replacement without so much as a " sorry for that - hopefully this is ok ". Pity........Won't be rushing back.

Felt compelled to write about Benvenutti when I heard about bad reviews. This place is my go to cafe for coffees and cakes when visiting my Mum in Law at Castleview across the road. The Staff are always friendly and attentive despite rarely managing a break during all day service. The coffee is always outstanding and puts the big chain outlets to shame. Don't get me started on the cake counter. Hard to resist and always well worth the extra guilt calories. The food menu is rammed with great stuff all day from breakfast to afternoon teas and everything in between. I simply can't praise the place highly enough for efforts which have been recognized recently in industry awards. Well deserved in every respect. If you happen to come in late in the day and see the counter piled high with dishes, please don't take it as a negative and write a selfish grumbling review. Think about it as testament to how busy and popular the place is. Be patient and wait your turn. Everything is worth waiting for in Benvenutti. Top team top grub top marks. Thanks James

Stopped here for some lunch whilst passing through. Had coffee and crepes which were delicious. Staff were very friendly especially the girl who helped with allergen information. Would definitely be back to try more!

Very obviously don't want customers after 4pm .Too busy cleaning up to serve you begrudgingly may i add.I'm not the only one who had the same experience.I thought we had stood on DOG POO.Will not be back thank you

Been to lots of restraunts, cafes for afternoon tea and this one is by far the best ! It was a birthday treat for my mother such a huge selection of cakes and sandwiches and the cakes weren't bite size either. We actually had to take some of it home which is a first. Staff were lovely and nothing was a bother we even got to choose our own hot drink my mother had hot choc whipped cream marshmallows all included in the price. This was my first time but certainly won't be my last. Next time however I would get a seat at the entrance next to the window we were in a small table at back of cafe, but it didn't spoil the lunch.

Visited with my family on a trip earlier this month. The cafe is warm and inviting with a great breakfast menu. We enjoyed full Scottish breakfast/french toast and the kids loved the chocolate crepes. The woman out front was by herself and worked quickly - it was nice to see banter between the staff and regulars. She also took the time to talk to us about our trip which was appreciated. Very reasonably priced, only suggestion would be more variety on lunch menu aside from sandwiches/paninis.

Unfortunately this didn't live up to some of its reviews.... Young staff who seemed to prefer to stand behind the counter rather than clearing and cleaning dirty tables... Food average and for some reason the scone was microwaved... Stale perhaps? Won't bother again.

Well worth £20 for the afternoon tea for 2, selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones etc. Unlimited refill for tea and coffee. Staff friendly and efficient providing excellent service. Been here previously for a snack and would highly recommend. Good varied menu.

We moved to this neighbourhood a couple of years ago and are delighted that this is our local café. A modern friendly place with a good menu and the staff are lovely. Warm and welcoming and the meals and snacks we've tried have all been delicious. A good meeting place as it's so handy too.

Went here for aftetnoon tea for 2 (£19). Wow well worth the money. It was in 3 tiers with a selection of sandwiches, cakes & scones with fresh cream & jam.

Had french toast with bacon and maple syrup, my friend had a roll with bacon which looked delicious. Couldn't fault the food or the service.

First visit to this little cafe. Great little place. Clean and modern with great menu. Would highly recommend the crepes. Service was great too. Will defo be back.

Only second time i have eaten here, but provided some very welcome food after working on clearing house nearby. Will definitely return, and is always busy which is a good sign.

Phoned ahead for a pick up of two breakfast rolls, picked up 10 minutes later and they were excellent. A wee bit more expensive than some places but the quality was first class. I loved the large toasted panini style rolls which do not collapse when you bite into them. I also liked the fact that they serve the rolls in paper bags with napkins inside, no prompt required for napkins. I ordered a black pudding and egg roll (doubler) and another single with Lorne Square sausage. I asked for the yoke to be burst as I hate the yolk explosion and they were happy to oblige. I also like the fact that the rolls were not dripping with fat which soaks through the bag, that really annoys me as it reminds me that I should really be eating porridge or muesli. I paid £4.95 for the two rolls and frankly, they were delicious. You can buy cheaper but I think you'll struggle to find better.

Came Saturday morning before we left for a holiday. Me and my hubby are obsessed with your crepes they are amazing, generous helpings. Friendly staff! Love it here been quite a few times and always love it!! ❤️ thanks guys

We had never been to this cafe before so didn't know what to expect. The cafe was fairly busy with people of all ages and after poring over the menu, we opted for a crepe and a baguette plus soup. We followed this with tea and cake and this did not disappoint either.

Previously loved this place but recently went with kids for what we explained would be a lovely afternoon treat. How wrong we were. Met with stone faced waitress immediately advising us of closing time (5pm) - it was 4.20pm. Then told we couldn't sit in rear of cafe, asked why not (as kids love sitting there), told "because I'm about to clean it". Fair enough I thought. Sat waiting, eventually asked to be served, we asked for soup, told "kitchens closed". Would have left then due to shocking mannerism but for kids being unconditionally happy about being there. We decided to have tray bakes, I asked for 2 current scones, reply was "dya want plain or fruit" - we thought she was joking, nope, her stone face remained. We were then served a quarter cup of coffee and 3/4 cup foam, (I'm all into cappuccino but that was ridiculous!) I then had to ask for top up & not one word of apology offered, when it came it was luke warm but I was beyond complaining. Waitress then started spraying lemon cleaner over furniture in the rear "no entry" seated area which kindly drifted all over our food got in kids tastebuds, and kyboshed drinks. This was the cherry on a completely spoiled the experience (it also started to affect partners asthma). When I grudgingly paid (again only due to kids being with us) I had to ask for receipt only to be told it doesn't print out after event and that I should have asked for it at time. I politely asked if she could write one out but got the feeling I was asking her to go to the moon and back, body language clearly showing she had no interest in us - but then I had to return asking her to add cafe details. In all time we were there there was not not one smile, or pleasant comment from her or effort to engage with customers. It is quite hard to describe how bad this service was and how much it spoiled our day. We went in feeling happy came out feelin annoyed. Only silver lining was a dark haired lady in kitchen once smiled and said hello from a distance. Will not be back in a hurry.

this cafe is just 5 minutes from dumbarton east railway station they do a good range of snacks at reasonable prices they have an outside area which is good for smokers we just were in for coffee good service we will return

Me habían dado un vale para el té de la tarde y fui con un amigo que amablemente nos trajo el prosecco. Tienes que reservar para este y te dan opciones para su relleno de sándwiches. Bollos con mermelada y nata y mucho encantador de pasteles pequeños que no termine, pero estaban en bolsas para llevar a casa. Servicio amable, encantador y limpio. Bien merece una visita.

Como dice el título, este es en mi opinión el mejor café en Dumbarton. La comida es muy sabrosa, con mucha variedad, y bebidas calientes, pasteles son impresionantes. Es mi lugar favorito para entrar hiciera su frío y lloviendo afuera para un gran plato de sopa o un día soleado para sentarse afuera con un batido y enorme pedazo de pastel obviamente! Además, el personal es muy amable, lo que no se puede decir de la mayoría de establecimientos de comida y bebida en la zona. Si nunca has estado daría un bash estoy seguro que no te decepcionará!

Buena comida cafe (dulce y salado). Buen servicio. Personal agradable y eficiente. Bonito lugar para reunirse con amigos. Se lo recomendaría a otros.

Received a voucher for benvenuti for afternoon tea for 2 we booked for today and we were not disappointed the spread was amazing sandwiches cheese and pickle ham and pickle egg mayo tuna mayo sweet chilli chicken chicken with pesto then there was scones with cream and jam and they were hot and lovely and 8 pieces of different cakes the presentation was lovely and the staff was lovely and very attentive we could not eat every thing and it was boxed up for us to take home

very good service was good and would return again next time stay longer and enjoy the suroundings as didnt have alote of time

Used by the local residents, great for meeting family or friends for coffee and homemade scones ,service was good and surrounding where all clean would recommend this place to friends and family.

I have met up with a few friends here for the usual coffee, cake and a catchup. Coffee is good and so are the calorie friendly cakes (i tell myself that so I don't feel guilty). Level of service and quality of coffee / cakes always good. Recommend any day of the week.

Great little place for coffee and cake which is excellent. They also do light lunch. Love this place for catching up with friends. Nice atmosphere and never rushed. Have stated with coffee and pastries then talked so much we end up staying and having lunch. Give it a try when in the area. I park on the street just passed ithe coffee shop as it can be hard to get into the car park behind the shop.

This cafe very busy and can be quiet crammed in but the homemade food is lovely. The staff are really nice to.

This is a fairly small, clean cafe with pleasant staff. It's used by many locals and, at times, the staff seem to lose their way leaving customers for far too long before anyone comes to take your order, however you generally get an apology when you give up on waiting service and go to the counter yourself. The food's freshly prepared and nicely presented but nothing special.

We popped in this cafe while viewing a house in the area and it was a great find for us. Lovely friendly staff and the food is delicious. Stylish and tasteful too.

Coffee was one of the best in our two weeks in the UK. Staff were delightful and nothing was to much trouble. The food was exceptional. Extremely satisfying and great value for money. Had to take away one of the fantastic looking cakes to have with our afternoon tea later on in the day

One of my favourite places to go for breakfast, lunch or a coffee n cake! Staff are very friendly, good fast service and plenty of choice of homemade soup, sandwiches, baked potatoes, toasties and crepes! Home baking is to die for, I have to try something different each time with all the choice they have! Equi's ice cream available to have in cafe or takeaway too! Great wee place

Great food and really lovely staff. Fantastic selection of food (cakes are to die for!) and ice cream. Prices are extremely good value for money. My only "gripe" is that the table next to the ice cream cabinet needs to be moved to allow customers to sit and eat without being crowded and bumped as others queue behind them for the ice cream. On good weather days you can sit outside which is pleasant.

I only popped in for a coffee but the staff were pleasant and polite. I would definitely return in the future as they had some fabulous home baking for sale and it all looked delicious.

Crepes are delicious and varied. Nice little lunch spot with attractive decor, a good mix of local prints and Italian scenes.

The food, tea/coffee not to mention amazing cakes and above all the staff are just lovely! Its a breath of fresh air to have somewhere so welcoming like this to go in Dumbarton, the rest of the towns restaurants and cafes need to take a leaf from this places book!

There is just nothing bad to say about this place. Excellent friendly service great prices and amazingly high quality produce cooked and presented with wonderful attention to detail. Clean and bright restaurant. Everything you could want.

Our newly wed son and his wife booked us an afternoon tea as an anniversary gift. My wife phoned a couple of days before we went so the cafe knew what we liked and what we didn't,t. When our tea/lunch came we were presented with a three tier dish. The bottom tier had a dozen sandwiches with plenty of filling plus a really good portion of fresh salad. The middle tier had half a dozen cakes to choose from and the top tier had freshly made fruit and plain scones with jam and clotted cream. What we couldn't eat we were given to take away. As much tea and coffee to drink as we wanted. The staff as usual were easy to deal with and were really pleasant.

We always go to this cafe when we visit our friends in Dumbarton. We chose this cafe over our paid breakfast in a local hotel, can't beat the coffee, friendly chat and food, fantastic.

Very cosy and probably the best coffee in Dumbarton. The customer service is ace and you can tell they have plenty of regulars because of the cosy and welcome environment. Feels homely from the first time you visit, and as a bonus they accept AMEX is which very surprising giving that Dumbarton is such a small town.Go and try their crepes, the are very good.

Unfortunately the staff let themselves down with poor service. Our order was taken after 15mins. I decided we must have to place an order at the counter but on asking was told they`ll come to the table.Two crepe`s were ordered along with a cappuccino, a flat white, a piece of lemon drizzle cake & iced gingerbread.We finished our crepes which were very tasty. I expected the cakes to arrive and as our drinks were cooling quickly I went & asked for them to be brought over. The girl said she`d be with me in 2 mins as she was making coffee`s at the time & I said it`s only to get the cakes which we had ordered. She said that`s fine & would bring them over. Unfortunately this didn`t happen. I went up to pay after finishing our drinks & the girl tallying up read back my order including the cakes. When I told her we never got the cakes she said I`ll only charge you for a standard flat white instead of a large! I think I would have preferred to have had the cake!

Visited for coffee and cakes after work. Flat white was excellent much better than in certain well known coffee shops! Staff pleasant and efficient. On this occasion I only had a scone and it was served warm which a lot of other places don't bother to do. Menu looked good for lunch, etc. I will return for lunch one day when I have more time to choose something else from the menu. I would recommend it!

I have driven past the Benvenuti on many occasions but my curiosity finally got the better of me about 2 months ago and have been in on 2 or 3 times since. Last week it was time to try the big breakfast and I wasn,t disappointed. Everything cooked to perfection. You might say it is only a breakfast but this beats most that I have had recently hands down.The choice of food on the menu is really good and their coffee,s are excellent. The toilet facilities are first class and very clean.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food and beverages arefreshly prepared, and very good. Very close to DumbartonCastle and right on the Forth & Clyde Canal Cycle path.

Popped in this morning for a coffee and ended up going for a breakfast. So glad that I did. Well made, good ingredients and well served. I will definitely be going back.

Benvenuti is a great place in Dumbarton East for a coffee and cake. My preference is for a genuine Flat White Coffee, which most places don't know how to make, but you'll get a good one here.

Nice coffee shop with a good selection of eats. The Scottish tablet ice cream is to die for. Pity it is so close to a busy main road.

This is a lovely café - we occasionally pop down for breakfast over at the weekend. They do lovely rolls and bacon or sausage. It is a very friendly place and the staff are really helpful, nothing is ever a bother to them.

Went for lunch with friends wonderfull food and service even although they were busy noticed no problem with a wheel chair user they were accomadating with them which was lovely cant fault this wee place at all awsome

Stopped for a quick lunch after visiting the castle. Found the cafe using trip advisor search. Only really expected to find a basic cafe doing sandwiches or maybe a jacket spud. Instead, what a find! Lovely little cafe serving excellent coffee, delicious cakes & ice creams, and wonderful crepes (appears to be their speciality). Both my partner and I had a savoury crepe, really fresh and filling. I visited Benvenuti as it was recommended on Trip Advisor. I was not disappointed. I had a lovely Tuna sandwich with onion on granary bread. The smoothies were delicious , I chose the banana coconut and strawberry, you have to try it. I also had some home made broccoli soup which was very good. A nice big tea pot and a nice slice of carrot cake was an excellent way to finish off a great lunch. The staff were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We will be back.

Like to stop by when I can. Always have a great time. The food is delicious. wide selection of food; crepes, baked potatoes, panini's, toasties, specials and fresh soup's, they always have nice home-baked cakes on offer. Good coffee too! Staff are always friendly, chatty and attentive. The place is always busy so seems to be popular. it also has free wi-fi available which is always good and there is a small car park around the back of the cafe. I would recommend to anyone passing to give it a try

A little gem on the main road through Dumbarton (A814). Great choice of sandwiches, baguettes, paninis etc. as well as a good choice of savoury and sweet crepes.. Stornaway black pudding, cranberry and cheddar cheese Panini is a must try !! 2 paninis with small salad and 2 large cappuccinos for £12.50 can't be beaten. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Outer patio area for alfresco dining in spring or summer when weather permits.

Well worth a visit. Soup, crepes,home made cakes and excellent ice cream. A full range of sandwichs of all sorts served with superb coffee. The staff are personable and attentive. Don't just drive past -- there is a small parking area just behind it.

This is a very pleasant wee cafe sitting on the main road. It is very popular with the locals and am sure it gets a lot of passing trade too. We had a couple of lattes, a BLT and a scone with butter. The BLT was very tasty and served hot with a small amount of salad. Lovely. The scone was huge, fresh and warmed in the oven. Thought has been put into everything and we saw the "barista" heat our latte glasses prior to pouring the coffee. If there one cafe practice that really annoys me it is a cold coffee or tea. The coffee was really good and all the better for being hot. I will definitely be visiting again, if only to try some of the very tempting cakes that were being scoffed all around us. A big thanks to the attentive, friendly staff.

Having passed many times on my commute to work , we decided to stop in after walking the dogs. The service is really friendly from all staff. The crepes are delicious, the coffee is excellent and the cakes are too tempting. Now a regular fixture.

Nephew and I popped in to the Benvenuti last week for a quick light lunch before visiting my sister in Castle View Care Home. Nice pot of tea for two and delicious brown bread cheese and ham toasties. Very busy café and friendly staff.Often take a cappuccino and cake across to my sister and she loves it and we used to have our coffee sitting outside when the weather is nice and sunny. First year they opened they had large sun parasols which was brilliant when it got too hot.

Go here fairly regularly when dropping off a friend at the Castle View Care Home. Love their soups. My favourite platter is the Mediterranean veg Crêpe tho'. Excellent value for money. You can have a really satisfying, tasty, freshly prepared meal without being overcharged. I always leave feeling replete!. Friendly staff too. What more could you ask?

Just back from charity funday. We have been before but today was exceptional. Kids had lots of fun, as us adults had lunch. All I can say is the food is AMAZING every time we have been. Today we had pesto chicken baguette and roast beef and horseradish sauce baguette, which came with a side salad. Kids were kept entertained trying to win ice cream or they received a sweetie bag (a good wee bonus). Well done Benvenuti, GREAT day for a good cause.
