Good flavour to all the the dishes the four of us had but 3/4 left hungry. The prawn starter is a joke. 3 frozen prawns with a smidge of soy sauce - where was the rest of it?! The cheese starter is huge by comparison. The duck main was the size of a starter. The crackling was ok but gone in the blink of an eye. All of us had three courses and filled up on toast when we got home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Ben's Bystro tonight. The service was excellent and the food was first class and delicious. Being able to bring our own bottle of wine made it a very homely experience, while the sophisticated menu and sumptuous food transported us to a very fancy establishment. Loved it!!

We both thoroughly enjoyed our food and both the lady that served us (sorry didn't get her name) and Ben were very friendly and met all of our needs. They don't have a licence so bring your own drinks but they'd told us this beforehand so we were well prepared.

We found Ben’s Bystro on trip advisor after getting no reply trying to book at another venue (so pleased they didn’t answer!). Firstly we got a really quick response contacting Ben via Facebook messenger to book a table. The food was amazing with some great choices. We can especially recommend the Baked cheese starter and the venison and belly pork main courses. The lovely lady who served our food was really friendly and welcoming and it was nice to meet Ben and be able to say thank you in person. All in all it was a great evening and really good value. Started planning our next trip to Tavistock so we can try some of the other dishes.

We decided to give Ben's Bystro a try after reading some good reviews. We were not disappointed by our choices; in particular the venison which I had was melt-in-the-mouth and was the texture of best filet steak. My husband chose the lamb rump which was equally tasty and just as tender. We then decided to go the whole hog and have desserts, he chose the strawberry meringue crepe while I had the drop scones with butterscotch sauce. I have to say that this was the best dessert ever, it was truly scrumptious. We ended our meal each with a coffee which was hot and fragrant not lukewarm and bitter as is served in some establishments. One small criticism of mine is that I would have liked some more vegetables with my main, such as a couple of broccoli spears, as the dish came with fondant potato and some watercress, but this is a personal preference and some may not agree! Our waiter, Chris, was delightful and made us feel at home and was chatty when appropriate but certainly not intrusive. Ben himself appeared a couple of times to enquire how we were enjoying our meal, which was a nice touch. We left feeling very well fed and will certainly return. Sadly, there was only one other couple dining but it was a Wednesday evening so we would urge other diners to give Ben's Bystro a try, you will not be disappointed.

Just returned from a lovely meal courtesy of Bens Bystro, great quality food and great service, best potato fondant I have ever eaten, and I'm not usually a huge fan of potatoes! All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal, will be recommending it to all my Tavistock friends.

We visited for a little date night - our first night out since lockdown. We were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived and were able to sit and relax. Food arrived promptly and was really really good! The Confit Rabbit tasted amazing as did the scallops with the nice tarte sage dressing. Our main course arrived within 5 minutes of us finishing our starters and the ribs and burger were just awesome. The belly pork ribs were huge and the peanut rice with them was very fresh and crisp! The burger looked amazing and my partner was so happy- he has ordered burgers before and nothing has compare to this. Every element was thought about and the textures were perfect. Dessert was shared and we decided on the sticky toffee drop scones. Freshly cooked and slightly crisp and sooooo good! We are already thinking of going back next week!

This is the second time we have eaten at Bens Bystro and it was just as good the second time! The food is amazing, generous portions and Ben himself is lovely, comes out to meet his customers. I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful place local to us and we will be back again soon.

A welcome addition to Tavistock's already excellent food scene, Ben's Bystro has a well balance menu and a welcoming feel. The chef is engaging and friendly and very informative if you have any questions. The burger looked too good to pass up and we were not disappointed. A full stack of two beef burgers topped with belly pork, interspersed with various cheeses and salads it was a 'no desert needed' main course. Highly recommended. We look forward to returning to try some of the other dishes.

We’ve had the pleasure of eating two meals, one eat-in, one takeaway, and both were excellent. Ben is a great chef and takes a lot of pride in presentation and offering something that’s atypical to that served by others locally. He uses good quality ingredients and his portions are generous. The service while eating in was fast and friendly too.. I would not hesitate to recommend Ben’s Bystro.

I recently had one of the best bistro burgers in a very long time! Two beef patties, slow cooked pork belly, cheese, home made BBQ sauce, garlic mayo, lettuce, tomato & gerkins in a brioche bun with skinny fries & coleslaw... Everything cooked to perfection and a very good portion! I highly recommend!

Lovely evening in a cosy atmosphere, a great range of dishes and excellent value. Ben and The Lemon Grove have come up with a great concept together, making use of a lovely cafe atmosphere, a talented chef, local produce and three courses for under £30. I love the bring your own booze opportunity. Saves a fortune on overpriced restaurant drinks and we can drink whatever we like. Affordable dining in Tavi, who’d have thought!

Was on holiday in Tavistock and was told about this place the food was excellent and the service very friendly the chef even came out himself to make sure everything was to our satisfaction which was very nice touch and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that is going to Devon for a visit as you won’t find a better place to go and eat so if your passing pop in and have something to eat and to finish our evening the desserts are great as well so good luck to you Ben hope to come again .the photos are of our meal sorry the pancake we had are not there but they was great

A great addition to Tavistock. The food is excellent, scallops were lovely and I had the best steak I've had in a very long time. Hubby went for pigeon (his favourite) and was cooked to perfection, not always easy, then the lamb. Crepes and drop scone puddings were great too. Ben is a fantastic chef and a really nice guy . Great food, lovely staff, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We will be back.

Lovely birthday and wedding anniversary meal with my husband. Food delicious and neither of us could fault a thing. Lovely vibe in the restaurant and service was a very high standard. We will be back as soon as we can!

Ben's Bystro is a fantastic restaurant that is run by a great guy! A group of 6 of us went for a 3 course meal and it was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend the pork rib and the lamb! It was a great dining experience...
