Ben & Sue Chinese in Inverclyde

Very disappointed in both meals curry sauce had no flavour didnt smell or taste like curry sauce the satay sauce was watery did not taste nutty at all the fried rice for both dishes was soggy and tasteless considering the one container was fried rice with chicken no sauce rice was ztill soggy .prawn crackers were also below par greasy and tasteless had ordered from ben and sues previously although not recently and the meals then were excellent again extremely disappointed and will not order from ben and sues again .

Not bad enough to complain about our last two home deliveries but very mediocre ,shame they can do lovely food when they want to.

Have been a Ben&Sue customer since they had they're shop up the Strone Love they're special curry stuff is always hot and prices reasonable. Daniel is a credit to his business the staff are all very nice too.

Wow...this place is FAB. My daughter found out about its vegan menu so we instantly put an order in. We could not get over the extensive vegan menu, so much choice. As vegans in Greenock, we were really excited as restaurants/takeaways here don't cater for plant based aside from maybe one token measly veg option. Ben and Sue's have loads including 4 different soups. It was really easy to place our order via it's app and food arrived piping hot shortly after. In my order, I had asked if there was any vegan prawn crackers as it's on the menu but I was unable to add to my basket. I got a phone call immediately after placing the order from the restaurant apologising that they didn't have any in that day which was really nice of them to do. When our meals arrived, everything was there plus a big tub of vegan fruit and cookies ice cream with a hand written note attached apologising again for no prawn crackers and gifting us this ice cream on the house because of that. Absolutely blown away by this lovely unexpected gesture and so I phoned them to thank them so much. Oh and the food was brilliant. Best Chinese food we've had. Can't get over how great this place is and we will be regular customers 100%. Can't wait to go through all the vegan options!!

Went downhill. Tasted like beef had been boiled. Was like being in a morgue whilst waiting for meal.

Being frequent customers with Ben And Sue's, and their ever evolving, inclusive menu - after receiving an order we were met with a with a pleasant surprise of our diets being taken into full consideration and being catered to above and beyond. We ordered a vegan meal as one of us is vegetarian and the meat style dishes are great for that - The threw in some vegan prawn crackers which otherwise my vegetarian counterpart would have to write off, and two slices of Costco cake on the house, with a sweet note attached, which of course means more to me than the cake itself. It's rare that you see such complimentary kindness from companies and we are so grateful for it. We look forward to placing another order tonight after a long day of work. Many thanks! :)

Over a year or so I have ordered 14 meals from Ben & Sue using the app. I have Coeliac disease so always order gluten free (GF). Every meal has been fantastic. Any time I’ve had any queries I get an incredibly quick response to my emails and a positive resolution. So as well as excellent food they have excellent customer service. Would highly recommend, the food is well priced, tasty and excellent. Edit - Since this review I have ordered another TWENTY ONE meals from Ben and Sue. Excellent for coeliacs with excellent awareness of cross contamination. Customer service above and beyond with a recent order I was late in picking up due to car issues. They remade a lot of the meal for me. I cannot rate this Chinese highly enough. Go visit - you won’t be disappointed.

Vegan options are amazing and something we definitely need more of around Inverclyde! Hope in the future that the chips could be made vegan

Best Chinese in Greenock by far. Great customer service and Food is always hot & cooked to perfection and it never fails to be delicious. If I could rate it more I would. The only small negative is the timing for deliveries can be a long wait but as they say.. Good things come to those that wait lol!

Waited over 1hr 45 min for order called them to find out why and was given nothing but cheek . unbelievable the order hadn't even left their premises .all I could hear was the staff cackling in the back . Ridiculous customer service . Never again . bad staff bad manners Really bad service

Standard food, boiled beef like rubber, chicken overcooked at times, typical fast food experience expectant in a housing scheme in the East end of town. Uses smallest 500ml cartons in the town for smallest portions and maximum profit, every other take away still use 650ml cartons so I am sorry if you feel I am victimising you by pointing out some facts? A bit expensive considering smallest portion size and that 10p for a 1p bag for HOT food is a joke even if our democratic government enforces you do it! Wow. 1000% bag profit! Seen a child buy a boiling hot soup and the wee dude demanded 10p off her to put it in a 1p bag!!! HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE, ASKS THE QUESTION SHOULD THESE PROFITEERS BE SELLING BOILING HOT FOOD TO CHILDREN? **UPDATE** THE PAINTERS HAVE BEEN IN. Nicely cleaned up. Painted inside, outside and the windows been washed too. What a difference. What about the kitchen,.can I say that or am I picking on you? THAT 10p FOR A BAG FOR PRODUCTS TOO HOT TO HANDLE (@1000% PROFIT) IS A NO GO RIP OFF THO AND DOESN'T REDUCE THE USE OF SINGLE USE BAGS IN ANY WAY. Has your bag usage went down OR have you just made a small fortune whacking everyone ten pence for a bag? You don't have to answer this! Me not picking on you. Me point out facts. Me said yer shop was filthy and not decorated in 40 years, you decorated and washed window. The victim card, or sympathy vote no good. As a responsible person making thousands of pounds profit I would never have given a child a boiling hot soup demanding 10p for a bag in the name of government legislation. What next, the race card??? Stating facts is not victimisation. Start me! Owners talk pages of trash to justify bad business options. Place was stinking of damp, not decorated for 40 years nor very clean. Pointed this out and one half of the stinking shop was decorated/cleaned. A peek in that kitchen door and you wonder how they pass local council hygiene results.... Facts!

Absolutely shocking, nearly 2 hours wait and cold food. Won't be using Ben and Sue again Female call handler not helpful at all, just says it will be there soon no matter how many times you call. Disaster

This is one the best Chinese Takeaways in Greenock. The food is delicious and the salt and chilli chips are amazing. My hubby always gets an omelette and he says there's is the best aswell!! The meat in my Special Curry is so tasty and top quality and the sauce itself is lovely. Highly Recommended x UPDATE..I haven't been here for a long time!! Don't know if it's the same but same owners I'm sure

The vegan menu is amazing! So nice to have a place where I can trust that my food will not be contaminated with animal products. I usually order noodles with veg and pulled chickun and have not been disappointed! Good prices, timely delivery, nice drivers and the food is fab! Will deffo be back!

I would just like to say what brilliant customer service, my car broke down on the way to collect my takeaway, I called to let them know that I would be late for my food as AA would be a while before they got to me, 2 hours later I arrived to collect my food and was asked if I could wait 2 minutes so they could make my order so it was fresh and hot, absolutely brilliant service and food was fantastic as always, thank you

Honestly, one of the best Chinese places I've ever went to. Food always tastes amazing & never disappoints. Their service is always spot on. I'm vegetarian & they're always so thoughtful to provide alternatices to prawn crackers. Even today was my 32nd birthday which I shared with them as I was ordering in for my birthday meal - they gave me a birthday card wishing me happy birthday from the team & some vegan ice cream. Honestly, the folks there are just amazing & the food is always worth the money.

Wow, what can I say, been avoiding Chinese takeaway since becoming a veggie a couple of years ago as normally limited menu, couldn't believe the menu options here and gave it a shot. Everything was tasty and gave me the Chinese takeaway I was missing. Also got prawn cracker alternatives which is something I have never seen. Spot on, cheers.

Good take away, fast reliable and food is good

This is the worst eatery of any kind I have ever encountered (including the eateries I have tried in the third world). The salt and pepper chips were stale (clearly yesterday's and reheated) and lacking salt, pepper or any spice. The king prawns in spicy sauce was tasteless and runny. If I lived next door I would still choose a different Chinese Takeaway. One star is too generous as it implies that there was something good about the place. There really isn't.

Not the cleanest or tidiest looking takeaway. Service was fabulous. Lovely, helpful staff. However the worst "chinese" food I've ever tasted.

Food is awesome hot and fresh everytime The salt and chilli dishes are fantastic only fresh spices used so no "powder" burn or aftertaste!!

The food is very bland, the chicken in a OK sauce is just chicken in batter in soy sauce, now the premises it reminded me of the episode of only fools and horses when they paint the Chinese takeaway with iluminise paint, has to be the dirtiest place I've ever been in felt like I needed a shower when I came out the floor was soaking wet, walls full of damp and the window was that dirty you couldn't see out it, surely the health department hasn't approved this eatery to sell food very very disappointing, unfortunately you have to give one star because this place doesn't deserve one, anyone who likes this place I fear for your health and the state of you're own homes if this is deemed acceptable

Curry sauce was tremendous but the beef in the beef curry ( although it was super thin ) it was still to chewy for me , I will be back for the curry sauce but not the beef , there are a few places that serve thin sliced beef that melts in your mouth around so that's why it's only 3 stars , would have been 5 bit for the beef

Great choice of excellent food. Best salt and chilli dishes I've tasted and the OK sticky sauce is delicious. Portion sizes are good and prices are very reasonable. staff are lovely and friendly too.

I've tried most of the Chinese takeaways in the area. Ben and Sue is now my go to place. If you like spicy and fancy something you can't get from other Chinese takeaways, try one of the 'New Spicy Sauce' dishes.

Didn't really like the salt and pepper mini crispy chicken or the curry. :(
