Excellent dining experience. Great food and wine. Cost atmosphere and attentive service. Definitely would recommend and come again. Just want to add that they play Sherlock Holmes audiobook in the bathroom - I require every place I go to now to have an audiobook play in the bathroom from now on. Attention to detail on every aspect is spot on

Great Food , Great Drinks , Great Atmosphere

Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. They made the experience memorable. Fantastic food, truffle mushroom celeriac butterbean broth was the standout dish.

Highly recommend you eat here, staff are amazing and go above and beyond so you have a wonderful dining experience, they let us have a table, despite my partner getting the wrong week end, food is delicious and every one a taste sensation, anchovy and walnut cake, sounds wrong but it was my favourite, and tasted amazing - thank you for a wonderful evening 😊

Really nice restaurant, worth venturing out of the city centre for. Food was delicious, great for sharing. The bartender and waiters were so warm and friendly. The vibe felt a good mix of quite luxurious but relaxed.

First time visiting Belzan and we were not disappointed. Everything was amazing, the drinks, especially the orange wine, the food and not forgetting the service. Would highly recommend.

The quality of the food and service is exeptional. Our first time here and the staff are both knowledgeable and helpful nothing was to much trouble in explaining the dishes. The quality and flavour of the dishes is a delight. I can highly recomend this resteraunt to anybody who wants a unique experience.

Was picking a restaurant in Liverpool and we like the food here much better than Maray’s. We got the celeriac butter sourdough, nduja squash, mushroom chestnut broth, croquette, beef cheeks, steamed cod, and finished with rice puddings. Everything was exquisite.

We enjoyed every moment while spending our 21st anniversary in Belzan! Food was top, outstanding service with a smile and great atmosphere. Already recommend it to our friends. David the manager was a great host and a valuable asset for this restaurant.

Had an wonderful overall experience at Belzan on our last visit to Liverpool. The restaurant is not within the main city area I’d Liverpool so for those visiting Liverpool, it does feel quite a trek to get there but I’d assure you, it will be worth the visit. Service is very warm, even pre visit to the restaurant. I could only see a table online at 8:30 and left a note to see if one was available at 8. They called me and dropped me an email to confirm that we could come in at 8. From the greeting with smile to the explanation of dishes and drinks, the service is exceptional and personable. Easily 5 star. The restaurant had a very good vibe and easy to speak to each other even though the place was full. This was a pleasant experience especially I find a lot of restaurants these days quite noisy. The drinks were excellent - negroni is super, served from a bottle frozen in the same way as martini, espresso martini and great selections of wines including a few wines by the glass, too. The food was exciting, highlights for us was Guineas rarebit potatoes, beetroots with cream and walnuts, mushroom and butter beans and rum baba. The only critique I had was some items (potatoes/Guinea fowl) were not piping hot. But the taste of food really compensated the experience. This place definitely is somewhere you’d want to have in your neighbourhood and if we are ever back in Liverpool, we will revisit!

After a few panicked rings to push our booking back due to travel issues we arrived to amazing service. Been a few times before but the food, service and atmosphere never fail to amaze. Special mention of the Guiness Rarebit potatoes - absolutely sublime dish.

We had a delicious meal! The staff were friendly, engaged and well informed about the food and wine that they were serving. Would thoroughly recommend. I left my glasses on the table and they went that extra mile and delivered them to our hotel!

Worth the walk from the centre for their Sunday lunch menu. I went for the vegetarian option with all the meat roast accompaniments, Yorkshire pudding etc. All delicious finishing with THE best chocolate tart I have EVER had. Cool hokey venue and staff particularly welcoming and accommodating. A must go to venue particularly if you are a foodie visiting Liverpool. Nearby Selby Park and Palm house worth a visit too.

Amazing dining and dining experience that had me grinning from ear to ear. The food is fabulous, really different and fun. Even the approach to the menu is a little different. The drinks are incredible, just another level. The mixologist/sommelier is engaging and knowledgeable and so friendly. The old fashioned is one of the best cocktails I've ever had. He gave me an amaro to try and based on his recommendation I bought myself a bottle online. We had four smaller plates, two large, two desserts, a bottle of wine, and four cocktails and everything was top notch. We will be back very soon!

Had the loveliest dinner date here! The staff had everything under control during rush hour and made the extra effort with every customer from wine descriptions to recommendations! And the food didn't disappoint (I'll be dreaming of the guiness rarebit potato). I will be going back and I would absolutely recommend!!

Such a lovely restaurant. Food was high quality and a lovely relaxed atmosphere with two lovely servers. We had croquettes and Dashi. Then the rarebit potatoes and beef tartare. Finished with the lemon sole and onglet steak. Will recommend to everyone.

Caters for "small plates" type of dining. Didn't particularly suit our needs at that time.we were after meat and 2 veg type of stuff. However the staff couldn't have been nicer nor indeed the venue. Never subjected to pressure. Will go back in near future

Ventured over to Liverpool for a meal with friends on a Friday evening… and it was very pleasant! Service was friendly and they were certainly very good at “selling” every item on the menu. The description by staff made us want to have a bit of everything! Overall, the savouries were better than the desserts… and the fish and veg dishes was better than the one red meat (lamb) we had. If I had to be picky, I’d say the place was slightly on the noisy side, but that didn’t mean we had to shout across the table… and it was a tat warm and humid, but the place was full on a british summer evening.

Surprising gem .. excellent interesting food .. caring scouse welcome .. no fuss but spot on service .. will be back soon I hope.

Brilliant evening, everything from the food to the knowledgeable staff to the service and bartending, all top notch. We went here last night for our 15th wedding anniversary, my husband’s first time and it did not disappoint atall! The service is outstanding and the two front of house lads, David & Jack are amazing hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Their attention to food describing is so enlightening. We had the sourdough and honey and celeriac butter to start (this butter is amazing, almost like a pâté) then we had a wee croquette each, mains; mine was coley fish and husbands was the lamb chop . Now I don’t eat chops but had a try; it was amazing 🤩 We also had this potato rosti/rarebit side infused with Guinness, I almost cried eating it! We then had the broth which I cannot stress how gorgeous it was, there was almost a fight for last dibs on it!! We then had a choux bun and a savoury cake with cheese init (sounds weird, totally wasn’t ) swilled down with a pair of crackin cocktails 🍹 Thanks for a wonderful evening boys, you and your food and service are outstanding, see you soon!!

Stopped into Liv between Ireland and Paris. Neighborhood gem. Server David was a true gentleman. We had a go and ordered every main on the menu, the Michelin rated Guinness rarebit potato, smoked courgettes, deviled eggs (topped with tobiko for those with allergies), and proper Manhattans (we had 8). Knowledgeable service and we even had a pint across the way with them following dinner, lol. Elegant and approachable atmosphere.

Been here a few times, the food is always incredible with unusual and fantastic flavours, a taste sensation. The thought and hard work that goes into developing each dish comes through. Service is impeccable with a lovely explanation of each dish and the sourcing of ingredients. The wine list also does not disappoint. Gorgeous crockery by local potter Louise Waller tops it all off.

This is a place I always walked past and said i would visit, looks beautiful and always gives off a great vibe! Finally had the chance and I’ve not been disappointed, ‘posh’ without pretentious. Incredible seasonal food and the staff are fab, the guy who looked after us (the guy who hated tomatoes until he tasted my tomatoes - I mean the Isle of Wight tomatoes- was such a great guy to make us feel warm and welcome while giving us in depth info on the food. Would highly recommend for either food with friends, a date or even just a nice evening drink! Will be back for sure, thanks guys!Also, typo on the menu, spelt Isle of Wight, not whight ;p love the fact produce from the mother land makes it to such a great city!

We have been here on a few occasions now and everytime the food has been amazing, the colliflower butter and sougherdough is always recommended. We love that the menu is different every time we have been, the desserts are personallt my favourite, as I have yet to have anything that isn't delicious.The service is always impeccable, they explain the menu and how many plates to have, they explain the wine menu also and give recommendations. I would always recommend the cocktails as again they have always been brilliant.The staff are welcoming and clearly love their job.The food is amazing. I wouldn't have a clue what half the food is, but that's what I find is great about this place is it gives you the opportunity to try brilliant food you wouldnt put together or be able to make at home. It's an expirrence in itself.I would urge anyone visiting or living in Liverpool to pay Belzan a visit.

This place is a hidden gem in Liverpool’s culinary crown. The food was original, exquisitely prepared and locally sourced. What’s more the staff are really interested in the origin of each ingredient so as each plate is delivered you learn a little bit about it. With a drink each and plenty of plates to share, our bill was still only £70. Highly recommend the rosemary gin cocktail with honey and the mushroom gnocchi with wild garlic. We couldn’t have been better looked after yet without any fuss or pretension. Haven’t ever eaten food like this (apart from once visiting a Michelin rated place in Mayfair but that was a serious three figure bill and full of snobbery). Good place to celebrate life and enjoy some very memorable and utterly delicious food.

We went here for the second time and the food is just stunning. Such unique flavours, every plate is an experience. Who knew carrots could taste so exciting! Great music, lovely atmosphere, quick and friendly service. It is so worth it for a special night out to remember.

Every plate is a work of art! The butter beans and carrots were really exceptional! The apple and almond old fashions were awesome as well. I’m pretty hungover now to be honest! Lovely staff and decor and atmosphere as well. We shall return!

It's just bang on. Varied, interesting, and always good. The mushroom risotto was awesome, been a few times and not one bad or even average dish. All round good stuff, cooked be people who clearly care.

Honestly, don’t try to exist after eating at belzan; nothing will equate. It’s purely unequivocal. The food: entirely alien, but in the best way you can imagine. It is like nothing you will have set your tastebuds upon before. Confounding and confusing flavours but that work together so delectably. The monkfish, cooked in a banana leaf?! A meaty, flavoursome Asian inspired taste sensation. The cauliflower butter: who would have thought butter could taste so good, you can’t believe it’s not butter!! The nduja sheep’s yogurt roasted carrots? all we could say was ‘wow.’ Cheeseboard? We thought maybe a cheese or two and a couple o’ crackers. No. This was a cheese tart, caramelised cider apples with chestnut, a delight on the tastebuds. Overall a 10/10 experience in the most atmospheric, quaint, quintessential establishment

También pude hablar con un caballero llamado David, creo, qué ventaja tan fantástica para este establecimiento. Las conversaciones sinceras y sin esfuerzo con él sobre comida y bebida, hicieron que el tiempo aquí fuera aún más memorable y aún más deseable de lo que no tenía que ser para recomendar.

Visitamos después de la reapertura, menú fijo en lugar de platos pequeños como antes. Siento que la comida no alcanzó las alturas vertiginosas de los platos precerrados. Gran ambiente y servicio atento con excelente conocimiento del producto. Todavía vale la pena una visita, sí, pero para mí un poco decepcionante.

Sólo probé el pollo supremo con pisto y cebollas agrodolce y me quito el sombrero ante Belzan, fue genial. Suprema de pollo grande, muy bien marinada en limón y tomillo y realmente suculenta. Felt compelled to write a review after a lovely night Saturday just gone. Between three of us we sampled nearly everything on the menu. All the dishes were delicious with special mention to the rabbit ragu and sea bream with wild garlic. Cocktails were great (and the bar were happy to take off menu requests). Overall we thought the meal was good value for money. It’s a small restaurant with a great ambiance. Special mention to the staff as well who were top notch! Great evening and would go again next time I’m back in Liverpool.

Soo great! Been here twice now and hasn’t disappointed. First time was a taster menu at the end of autumn which was fantastic. This time we ate from the normal Menu and each dish was delicious and we had a lovely bottle of natural wine which was great. Lovely service. Can’t wait to come back again.

This little restaurant is such a great find, I can't fault it. I could eat the cauliflower butter and sour dough with every meal. The salt cod croquettes were another favourite and and who knew that Hispi cabbage was so good when barbecued. Added to the gorgeous food, the service was excellent right down to our waiter creating a non alcoholic cocktail for me. The whole evening was an absolute delight and we can't wait for our next visit. Thank you Belzan

Have been here before and was given amazing service and tasty food however visited Friday lunchtime in January and ordered the vegan breakfast (disappointed at lack of vegan options but that’s not too bad I guess). Food took a long time to come out and when it arrived it was very average, warm beans and small burnt toast with a small amount of advocado on. The ‘veggie sausage’ was so burnt I could not cut into it and had to break it with my hands (photos attached). I ate up the beans and avocado which was nice but nothing too special for the price. Would return for a drink as their selection is nice and big and I have been for cocktails before and enjoyed.

8 of us ate here on a wet and wi day Monday evening. From the moment we arrived until the time we left everything was perfect. The staff were all really friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The food was so tasty and delicious we could not find fault with any of the dishes we ate. We would definitely visit again and would recommend people to try it without hesitation. Can’t wait to return!

Great find Went here last night as close by to where I’m staying. Great little find not too polished which is part of its charm but amusing staff and great food. The best meal I have had on my current UK trip would recommend you give this place a go

Amazing food, all homemade and very tasty! The banana bread is very good and the English breakfast is the best in town.

Had a wonderful experience in this restaurant a couple of years ago and was not disappointed this time. The dishes can sound bizarre, but we experimented and liked everything we tried, especially the Pork Chicharrones and Stilton and Wild Mushroom Croquettes, the Gnocchi and Aubergine dish.

Came here for a quick breakfast with some work colleagues. Great service and ALL the food was from scratch, even the beans and hash browns. The classiest breakfast I've ever had, and good value as well. 2 out of 3 did not finish despite it being delicious!

We went for dinner and ended up having 7 dishes between 2 of us, we couldn’t stop ordering! All of them were outstanding - the wild mushroom gnocchi without a doubt the best gnocchi I’ve ever tasted, and the lamb rump was absolutely delicious. A few real surprises as well - sweet potato and hazelnut satay, and aubergine with miso - both worked beautifully, wonderful flavours. Staff friendly and efficient. Can’t recommend highly enough and will definitely be back!

Always head to Belzan for brunch. You can't go wrong with their breakfast/brunch menu - love the McBluffin' Had a birthday Bottomless Brunch there in August too and loved it. Staff are great and so is the atmosphere.

Small place, but very welcoming. The menu isn’t huge but the quality is. We tried around ten 10 dishes between us and none disappointed. The hake and the rarebit potatoes were standout for me . The cocktails list is exceptional. The service is 1st rate . Friendly easy going and informative. Will be back for more.

This was my first visit to this lovely little restaurant on a rainy Monday with friends. The staff were lovely and there were meal choices for both the vegetarians and meat eaters amongst us. The dishes are tapas style, smallish, and the aim is to have two per person. The wild mushroom gnocchi was extraordinary and made the meal. The sea bream was a little disappointing (ie not too different than what I could rustle up at home- not awful but not worthy of the price tag).

Great, innovative food served by smiley, happy, knowledgeable staff and a fantastic brigade. Would highly recommend.

Went here today with my partner and a friend for lunch and had the most delicious food. I had the Welsh Rarebit and would definitely recommend it! My friend had the vegan breakfast and the beans were out of this world. If your looking for somewhere informal and relaxed to have a chat with friends this is your place. Can't wait to go back and try the evening menu!

I go to Liverpool a lot. My favourite restaurant used to be the East Avenue Bakehouse in Bold Street before it became the Shoe something (??) and rubbish.

If you’re from lpool you get that unlike the foodie places you read about in the papers liverpool, has any amount of really fabulous places to eat, cheap,unfussy and just amazing. It’s like the big secret we don’t want to share, god forbid we’d have to queue for a table or pre book at the weekend. Oh and the waiter serving the drinks better know about amazing cocktails. Yep the places in the city centre may do a very good job, but for Christ’s sake ask the locals. We know where it’s at. And Belzan, knocks it out of the park. Stop wasting your time in good, average places. Get there! David the drinks guide will whip up a storm.

Hands down the best breakfast in Liverpool - always first choice if we're ever in South Liverpool. Have yet to visit for dinner but if the brunch menu is anything to go by you wont be disappointed!

This is my favourite restaurant in Liverpool of recent years. It is (geographically) away from the other main food centre of the City Centre or Lark Lane on the less aesthetic Smithdown Road, but worth the trip. In fact its very close to my home so walking distance. The menu is imaginative sort of fusion tapas. Right up my street. Several small plates is the way to go; I love this approach generally and am delighted it seems to be becoming popular now. Desserts were delicious too, but I would say that the lovely Burned Cheesecake would may be have been even better as an Unburned Cheesecake. The pineapple (was it?) lemoncello served with our dessert was a perfect accomplishment and the cocktail (rhubarb and apple Bellini ) was awesome. The “natural” wines sound a bit right-on, but the one we had was really good!!

Our fiirst visit to the Belzan, a splendid little restaurant just a couple of miles outside Liverpool City Centre. All the staff were very welcoming, so friendly and helpful, it felt like we were regulars. The place was busy and although the atmosphere was vibrant the evening was unbelievably relaxing. The menu provided a wonderful variety for all tastes and we were advised to select 3 dishes per person, which was about perfect, leaving just enough room for the splendid deserts. We chose a few starters and some sharing dishes and they were absolutely delicious and excellently presented and as the kitchen is open, you could see the chefs working tirelessly, for our enjoyment. The experience was a real pleasure and the staff, front of house and kitchen, genuinely contributed to a wonderful occasion. I am sure we will be back and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Belzan to anyone.

We hopped a ten minute taxi ride from Liverpool city center - taxi driver thought we’d got the address wrong but no - we found a real gem of a place in Belzan. From the charming staff - thanks Hayley and David - to the inventive small plates of utterly delicious food - we just had a great night. Such interesting dishes and lovely wine choices, plus being excellent value. Should we find ourselves in Liverpool again - we’ll be straight back!

A gem of a place that's really nailed the local neighbourhood restaurant. Pretty much everything on the menu was wonderful but highlights have to be the mackerel, the shin, the gnocchi and the bread. Unfortunately, I had to get back to LDN and so missed the deserts. Also a special shout out to the front of house. Wonderfully warm but coupled with a professionalism that's not always the case. Just go.

Food, drink and staff were all brilliant. The tiramisu ice cream induced some kind of religious experience. Go at your earliest opportunity.

We were in many high-class restaurants but Belzan was one of the most impressive so far. I would like to say 'big thank you' to the staff, especially Hayley (probably spelled wrong, sorry) who made so much effort to make my Graduation dinner so enjoyable. My mum was feeling unwell and she made sure her food is prepared in a suitable way and she brought her a mint tea. Staff was really friendly, helpful and welcoming. Food was just mind(mouth)blowing. Delicious and so reach in flavor!!! The design was superb! We have been multiple times to the Filter and Fox (now Volpi) and we loved there, so we knew that Belzan will be the place to go.

I called in for a late lunch and treated myself to the pasta and chocolate tart. Absolutely delicious and so full I didn't need dinner. Great atmosphere even on a weekday lunchtime and the service was excellent. Looking forward to trying their evening menu.

This was my first visit to Belzan and I hope it won’t be my last. The food and service was incredible. My breakfast was beautiful and it is obvious that the produce is of the highest quality. I had breakfast with friends and I hope to visit in the evening for food and drinks. I feel lucky that we have this restaurant in Liverpool. Thank you.

I popped into this place for a coffee and instantly loved it. The lovely unique space, the coffee was lovely and the customer service is simply outstanding (thank you Hayley). Hayley went through the menu and told me a little bit about the place. With this, I am going back tomorrow for breakfast with my friends. I also want to plan an evening for drinks there.

I told the staff before I arrived that I had coeliac disease and they made sure they had gluten free bread for me and prepared the kitchen accordingly. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is because, despite knowing I had coeliac disease, they gave me a biscuit on the tea spoon of my coffee which meant I couldn’t use the tea spoon because it had biscuit crumbs on it, and I had to ask for another spoon (which I was given instantly). A teeeeny, tiny reason not to get 5 stars.

We were within walking distance of this restaurant when saying in Liverpool. Delicious, fresh creative food ( in smaller share plates ) from brilliant young chefs, cheerful and knowledgeable serving staff and a friendly environment. What’s not to like? Check out the desserts if you want to just go a bit over the top. Well worth a visit.

I travel all over UK and Europe and always hope to find that ' Hidden Gem'. This is it, highly motivated, young chefs producing out standing food at really reasonable prices . They have great wine knowledge ,buying on quality and not just what the regional wholesaler supplies. El Coto rioja is a good example. The desserts are an absolute must. The Crème Brulée is probably the best I have ever had. Someone was having the breakfast next to me and it looked a million miles away from the traditional greasy spoon and yet was only a pound or two extra. Talented chefs and great staff with quality and value for money.

3rd time to Belzan now and always excellent. Really good imaginative food. Small plates tapas style, but really very good.

We were 4.blokes (18, 28, 36 & 38 yrs) on A football trip with very different preferences, yet we all agreed agter our first visit to male this our breakfast everyday.

Lois suggested Belzan food was lovely, very fresh and tasty, they had my favourite Coto Rioja, first tried it in Majorca twenty years ago still as good now, great friendly atmosphere the staff are really good at what they do, we will be going back again soon

Fabulous 10/10 Food great service fab! Atmosphere really good. The apple and ginger soft juice drink on a red hot day went down a treat!

Went for brekky with family and we were lucky to get a table as we hadn't booked. The full English breakfast was amazing! The bacon is more of a bacon chop, the sausage is very tasty, the black pudding crispy and the hash brown home made. The beans are definitely not run of the mill and eggs can be cooked in a variety of ways. Not cheap but definitely worth the money! I'd definitely recommend a visit.

So I stumbled upon this little bar and restaurant and decided to take my little sister and her grandmother here for a hot chocolate and treat. Upon arrival the staff were very accommodating and kindly greeted me. When my sister and her grandmother arrived we were instantly seated and served. The hotchocolate arrived beautifully presented & perfect temperature to start drinking. Now for the part that really pleased me, my sister is a really fussy with her food and didn’t like the look of anything on the menu except for the lobster pasta, she really dislikes seafood though, so upon request of serving anything else with pasta the chef accommodated the request and to our delight it arrived and she really enjoyed it, with my dish I had the staff dinner, the salmon was smoked perfectly and the sauce that accompanied it really complimented the flavours. 10/10 would reccomend.
