We visited for a Birthday lunch. Very nice set up with excellent staff. The menu was good & the food was excellent. A little expensive for the glasses of wine but overall very good.

We love this restaurant, it's on our doorstep and we've been numerous times over the years. But recently we've eaten outside and on all three occasions the service has been absolutely appalling. Constantly having to badger staff on orders constantly. Very disappointed as its usually great service

I can only begin to describe this place as an out of body experience. It's like Karen's diner... on steroids. When we booked our table, the person on the phone was rude but it's Saturday afternoon, a late booking, fine. We thought they're just stressed. My goodness, did that experience transpire to real life. When we arrived, we was lectured about the positioning of the highchair and that it was dangerous. We didn't put it there to begin with but hey ho, this was the first drop of this insane rollercoaster ride. We did have a dairy allergy within our booking and we asked one waiter to find details of two dishes and their dairy content. He wrote both dishes down and quickly went to the kitchen. On his return with the information, he kindly informed us both dishes were dairy free. As he was explaining, one of the most senior waiters came over and shouted (yes, shouted!!) and asked what on earth he was doing as this was his table and he was serving us. We explained he was merely providing us with information we had asked for. By this point, we all looked blankly at each other and the waiter said "he's new, he doesn't know what he's doing and we shouldn't ask him, he's the oldest waiter there and he is taking our orders, not him". After around 3 minutes of us going back and forth and him interrupting us whilst trying to tell him this young waiter had done no wrong, he then said "you're the customer you can think what you want". At this point, I actually laughed because it was so uncomfortable. The senior waiter went on to explain what dishes were gluten free... we didn't even ask for that. We already had our answers from the competent young waiter but he was insistent that wasn't what we asked for... After a few audible huffs and puffs whilst ordering our food, we thought the ordeal was over. Oh we was so wrong. If another waiter dared come near our table, they got nothing more than sent to the chokey. We feared for asking questions. More drinks arrived but we was left to guess the wine because they "didn't have a clue which red was red" and by this point, I would have downed a glass of urine if it numbed the uncomfortable atmosphere. Wine is wine, right? Food arrive around 70 minutes later after chasing is. However, the senior waiter asked if we wanted the bill ... I mean where are our mains and can we have the bill basically sound the same. Tomato Tomato. Within seconds, our mains arrived. I questioned how long they have been sat there for and he very angrily explained everything is made fresh of course they haven't been sat around. I will add at this point the table behind us had 3 courses in the space of our 1, as had the table by the side of us; we dared ask anymore questions. One of the three musketeers (the senior waiters) brought the food over and insisted on putting red hot soup in front of a toddler. I told him I will take the food and he once again bit my head off saying he needs to put it down. It is absolutely perfect to place hot soup in front of a 1 year old. Kudos. Our food was delicious. I will give Bella Vista this one! It's safe to say the senior waiter left all his dirty work to his younger colleagues. The cleaning of the tables, getting bills etc. We witnessed several occasions of the three senior staff members (especially our first waiter) embarrass young staff in front of customers if drinks were incorrect or food was at the wrong table. There was another occasion when one man basically threw blue roll at a younger colleague to clean up a spill. I refer back to my out of body experience. The bill was paid, the service charge removed and nothing but a mere sorry was given. As a family of 6, we will never EVER go back. We spent £150 and I genuinely think I would have had a more pleasant experience in a prison inmates canteen. A note to Bella Vista: Your young staff are outstanding, they look absolutely petrified and I genuinely don't know how you're so well staffed. I didn't catch the names of the young girls who brought drinks and breadsticks, but I did catch Mario and Finn. Because they are young, they shouldn't be dismissed as stupid or naive. They were far more competent than your more senior members of staff. They are polite and attentive yet look terrified and treated absolutely horrendously. To your senior waiters, just because you've worked in a job or a place for a long time does not mean you know better or your service skills are superior. You are the reason we will not return. Forget our experience, watching the way you speak and treat your younger members of the team is enough.

65 quid for absolute rubbish I used to come here often and hadn't been for a while... what a deterioration. hot antipasto was clearly just a selection of poorly microwaved small plates.The food was either blisteringly hot or warm with cold middles. other dishes had hot spots and cold spots. inedible pizzas we're smothered with cheese... not sure who they are trying to cater for but they were the most un-italian pizzas I've ever had. cheese was so thick half was un-melted and the meats were dry and cold.... and likely old. worst meal I've had for a long time do better bellavista

First visit, needed somewhere to eat at short notice on a midweek evening. We were promptly welcomed, chose some drinks and then ordered. We all selected the set menu choices. All dishes chosen and delivered were really well cooked with quality ingredients, the creamed mushroom starter was excellent. My pizza was twice the size I expected and really tasty, I couldn’t finish it but I took the uneaten half back home to eat later ! The set menu was I felt very good value, and the service was professional,attentive and friendly. Would certainly recommend.

Nice waiters always cheerful and pay attention to their customers food is outstanding a bit pricey but worth it I had my birthday here and I was a bit embarrassed but I enjoyed it thoroughly!

The food was gorgeous and freshly cooked but the service and attention petered out as soon as we were given our main courses. We weren’t offered additional drinks, coffee or dessert, which we would have liked. At 9.30pm all diners vacated en masse and waiters scurried to set up the restaurant for the next day. It felt a bit odd and too early

Nice atmosphere, food good, wine a bit pricey but had a lovely evening only thing that is a bit offensive is the tip option added on to the bill.. no need to do this people will willingly tip without this rude suggestion, not sure we would go again for that reason we found the suggestion uncomfortable 😳 shame really!

It was my husband's birthday treat. We had eaten here but several years previous but the food was on a par it had not changed. When I booked they did ask if I wanted upstairs or downstairs, I should have asked why. We would have preferred downstairs because it was quiet and relaxed, upstairs was for families it was loud and so busy which put an edge on it for us. So make sure you select which is the best for you.

Living locally, I have been here countless times. The food is always delicious and the staff happy, pleasant and attentive. The upstairs pizzeria is my favourite, very laid back and relaxed. Also a little cheaper than the restaurant downstairs!

We have been an a couple of occasions for lunch and it deserves to be busier. Really nice food pleasant country setting and lots of free parking. Lots of choice on the lunchtime set menu which we usually go for. Would definitely recommend it.

The food was lovely I don’t think we could have found anywhere else better for a birthday meal. Although it was a long wait for food and starters I was worth the wait. Parking was a waist of time it was a struggle to find a space for parking.

Long time since we were here but only staff and decor has changed- although the staff are just as friendly, welcoming and efficient. The decor is great and the food just perfect. Ribs to share and so drop off the bone tender; glad they gave use spoon for the glaze. The tortellini and the Calabrese were both good in taste, presentation and quantity. must come back again- sooner next time

Booked a table for 1930 and arrived at 1925. Totally ignored until 1940 then asked to sit in a very small crammed bar area, Had to ask for a drink at 19:50 as we was sat there waiting for someone to come over. Eventually got a menu then got seated at our table an hour late! Total chaos no apology offer of a free drink etc. We have been several times before even went & supported during COVID but we will not be back in a rush to go back. Gutted as the service was awful but enjoyed our food. Even had the cheek to charge us 10% service charge. We should have had a discount not a service charge. Clearly took too many bookings as lots of other customers had the same experience .

We had a very nice family lunch for 10people on Xmas Day. Although the restaurant was very busy the staff were attentive and the food was excellent. There were no problems with service and the mince pies and tangerines were a festive touch.

Mum loves this restaurant been several times food and service always excellent. Booked bright window seat( as we've had before) re mum's poor eyesight . On arrival we were shown into a dark corner When we explained this wouldn't do for her eyesight and emphasised I booked especially, a bright window seat,explaining at the time my mum's age and eyesight issue. At which the manager then came over I believe his name is Bartista his dismissmive attitude was that's all there was take it or leave it ! At that point we left my mum baffled as what was going on . As we were pushing mum out in her wheelchair a waitress that's served us many times apologised saying she'd given the table away to another family in error as they'd come in with someone in a wheelchair and thought it was us . I said mistakes can happen but it was the managers attitude in front of a full restaurant that was the issue and we walked out. The waitress followed us out and kept apologising saying the mistske was hers,asking us to come back offering us a free drink till the particular table became available,by then we'd already stowed the wheelchair and got my mum back in the car. I explained that my problem wasn't with her error (can happen) it was with her manager's dismissive attitude towards us in front of other patrons . Her final words were hope to see you back ? We won't be back !

We had 2 great meals here over the Christmas period, one downstairs with friends in the Al a Carte restaurant and one in the Pizzeria on New Years Eve with our grandaughter. Although both visits were at busy times, the food and service in both were brilliant. Thank you Bella Vista

I have been a long term visitor to the restaurant. Me and my family have been going for a good many of years. The food and atmosphere have always been fantastic. With lovely food that is affordable, staff that are professional and polite. But unfortunately when I came to the restaurant last time. Even though we had booked in advance. They struggled too steat us. There was only two of us as we were on a date. Ended up pushed up in a corner next too the kitchen. It was so noisy that we could not hear each other was saying. We were made to feel very uncomfortable as it seemed to be a burden for the staff to get our drinks. Also food was very slow. It took over an hour to get our main and the same for the starter. When the food came it was not worth the wait. Staff were over worked and stressed. There was two huge parties in the middle of the room. One table just let their kids run wild and were very drunk. Every 5 minutes the happy birthday song would go off. The staff messed up on the bill and we ended up paying the service charge. That they said they would remove due to the bad experience we had.

My PAST REVIEW was faultless for the Bella Vista Restaurant. Sadly the Service was terrible this time (28 August 20) and the Manager was even caught out with a lie when i asked to look at the bookings and time we were actually booked in for.The food this time around was still excellent, however we were given our Garlic Bread that we ordered and over 60 Minutes past still with no food!I reminded the staff several times and was informed staff were reduced as a result of Covid.The staff themselves were very understanding and well aware of how long we were actually waiting - running around like headless chickens and were clearly overworked. 90 Minutes later we were finally served our food.I complained and the Manager came to our table and said we only waited an Hour for the food which was acceptable in the current climate.He stated our Booking Time was half an hour later than it actually was so on the way out i asked to look at the booking times and proved to him i was right and yes we did wait an hour and a half for food, not the hour as he was stating at our table.I like to think he made a genuine mistake but more than likely he was simply telling porkies not expecting me to ask to view the bookings myself! He was matter of fact about the poor performance and I informed him my past review on Trip Advisor was Excellent and it would not be the case after this.This is NOT directed at the waiters, they work hard and are very friendly.The Manager NOT SO.£96.20 DOWN THE PAN. Day 1 of opening. My husband and I made a reservation and were slightly nervous whether Bella Vista would be COVID 19 ready.We were pleasantly surprised!The staff - Francesca, Jaime, Vlad, Guiseppe, Caetano, and Piero were fully prepared. All used hand gel, masks and shields. They spaced the tables to allow for social distancing however, there were enough tables occupied to retain the ambience. The service was conducted by one server per section and in between serving, they used the hand gel. The food was (as Jaime always calls it...) FANTASTICO!!!I was so happy to feel like 'normal' after 4 months of being in lockdown. Going to one of our favourite restaurants, families surrounding us and even a celebration of a birthday! I would highly recommend booking a night at the Bella Vista Pizzeria - either upstairs or downstairs (which was open). You will feel like the past 4 months never happened! Thank you to all the staff at Bella Vista for making our introduction back into society a welcoming and comforting one.

I really like this place, great ragu and pizza, always an interesting special board but to be honest the regular menu of pasta/pizza is better than others in the area. The staff are first rate and service is always good. We are always as a couple but the family is well catered for and large parties are always in the restaurant, this is a family place but good for couples too. If you want a little more formal eat downstairs.

Gluten free pizza and garlic bread bases to add your own choice of topping to.Also choices of chicken, lamb, steak and fish.A bit oily but the food was delicious! All food is freshly cooked.Our waiter was friendly. They asked when we arrived whether it was a special occasion and as it was our daughter’s 30th birthday she got a free dessert with a sparkler and happy birthday played over the speakers. I booked a table for 11 people last Saturday to celebrate my Auntie’s 80th birthday. I had family from Newcastle, London and Portsmouth visiting, so felt responsible for choosing a good place to celebrate. My husband and I have been there many times and the waiters kind of recognise us and as our waiter showed us to our table he asked what we were celebrating, so I let him know. The place is always busy and waiters rush around but are never flustered and always know what they are doing – they are used to dealing with large group bookings and people celebrating. All the food – as always – was absolutely delicious, from pizzas, pastas, to lamb shank and steak and boar ragu. Their Bella Vista Mess was lovely too. The service was friendly and attentive all evening. Then – as I knew they would do – when it came to delivering the desserts some of our table had ordered, the ‘Happy Birthday’ music piped up and they flew over with a large profiterole with cream and a big sparkler in, for my Auntie, who was suitably thrilled! The atmosphere there is always buzzing and lively, but with such beautiful food on top, it really is the perfect venue for any family celebration. As we left, the waiters wished us all a warm goodnight and one came over to ask if he was right in thinking that my husband and I got married there – which we did over 15 years ago. They do a great mid week pizza / past happy hour too for a more casual quick bite. Very highly recommended!

Amazing. Pizza was lovely and thin, large, full of wonderful flavour. My wife had lasagne. Oh my goodness! Wow! Super super tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite of everything we had.

Visited this place several times as a diner and had no hesitation in booking for a large party of 50+ for a wake after a family funeral.Elio, the Functions Manager, is so helpful and accommodating. The set buffet menu is good value and the food is the usual great quality from The Bella Vista with plenty of choice for hot and cold food. We’ve used both the function room and the lower restaurant and both rooms are equally well equipped to host large private parties in great surroundingsThanks again Elio and the staff at Bella Vista...

We have always enjoyed going to Bellavista. However, this evening, we booked a table for 7pm. We waited for 50 mins for our table while watching others (who had arrived after us) get seated. When my partner approached one of the staff, he was met with a bit of a resentful attitude which didn't diminish after we were seated. After our meal, which was to be fair lovely as usual, we waited what seemed like an age for the offer of a desert menu. In the end I asked for the bill and still had to get up to pay. I didn't leave a tip- for the first time. I am not sure that we will be returning any time soon.

We booked the Bassavista room for my mum and dad's golden wedding anniversary. The room was laid out beautifully, the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Elio was so helpful on the day and also in the run up. Thank you for making our celebration so very special!

We had a surprise birthday meal for 30 people for my daughters birthday nd couldn’t have wanted more!!!Elio and staff went above nd beyond to make the surprise happen. Last night 3 of us went to Bella Vista for dinner. It was a birthday celebration. We had booked the table.

We dined in the restaurant for my friends 70th birthday and wanted it to be special. Bar staff and waiters were lovely but the waiter who took our order while we were having a drink before the meal was one of the most miserable I have seen, no smiles very curt, luckily it did not spoil our night but I think they might put someone more pleasant to greet customers. Food was nice.

I booked a table for 3 for tonight (Saturday) as we had been for a spa day nearby. There is a large parking area. The view of the Pennines is breathtaking and there is a lovely outside terrace overlooking it. Sadly it was raining tonight - but indoors the restaurant is beautifully decorated with white linen on the tables and great attention to detail. We had starters of garlic bread and bruschetta - beautifully presented and done to perfection, with staff frequently checking we were okay. Our main meals were delicious and all remarked that the food is genuine Italian cuisine. The staff all give the impression that they really enjoy their jobs and make you feel like a friend rather than a customer and, there is a great ambience, helped by the friendly banter tonight between Misha and Donna. With such excellent service, the quality of the food and attention to detail, I could not believe our bill which came to just £70 for a glass of wine each, two courses each and tea and coffees for three. The staff helped to make our day and I will definitely be returning again! What a fantastic find!

We booked a table for 6pm on a Sunday evening as we had children in the party. We waited 45 minutes for our table and then another 15 minutes for them to take our order although we had already decided as we looked at the menus whilst we waited. When the food came it was very nice as it always has been in the past. Unfortunately due to the delay in being seated we didn’t have time for a dessert as the children had to leave for bed!

Just the most amazing day, Elio and the team could not do enough to make our day perfect. The food and the service were all amazing and all of our guests have commented about how well run the day was. Best choice of venue ever!

Ate here on Friday 22nd March. Welcome and bar area were nice. Starter of Brushetta was fine. Both our main meals and service were poor. Drinks were not offered at all when glasses were empty, even upon delivering food to the table. We both had steak, neither was nice. I asked for mine medium, it came well done and was rubbery, veg was tired looking and chips were anemic! My friends steak was equally as poor. We waited an age for the bill and in the end i had to get up to ask for it.

Visited on A Sunday afternoon when the restaurant was full of people having the Sunday lunch menu, the pizzeria contained three birthday groups and there was a large group in the function room. Despite all this, the staff were courteous, the food timely and delicious and there was a good atmosphere.

Me and my husband had a meal last night food was just ok , i had steak which was nice came with just a few vegetables, my husband had chicken in breadcrumbs wasn't really good Bland , They come to everyone who's birthday it is with a sweet but expect everyone in the restaurant to sing happy birthday by the end of the meal i was sick of hearing it , we went for a nice quiet meal but wont be going back there

Having visited Bella Vista regularly for several years now I was totally surprised this time around for quite possibly the worst service I can remember in years.

Not the best or worst Italian restaurant I have ever visited, just very average food and not very well presented. However the annoying thing was the inconsistency in levels of service, the younger lads and girls were first class in their approach, whilst the white males 'of a certain age' pretending to be Italian, FFS give me strength and drag yourself into the 21st century.

My brother and sister in law live in Wardle and tell us often how good the food is here.

My partner and I visited Bella vista for the first time on boxing day. Although they were extremely busy the service was first class. We were made to feel welcome and seated and served quickly. The atmosphere was fun and most importantly the food was delicious. I had the sea bass and my partner had chicken in a creamy sauce with mushrooms. He loved it. Thanks for looking after us. We will go back soon and would definitely recommend. There is plenty of room here to cater for large parties and there were some that evening even the children seemed to be happy. They do lots of pizza dishes and pasta dishes as well as meat and fish. The restaurant is bright yet cosy.

The worst Long Island Ice Tea NO alcohol in it at all. Just coke & Lime . Food was fine service hit & miss . Stay away

Hadn't been here for a while because we had been disappointed previously but visited because we were invited by others, won't be visiting again. Poor quality food served in the downstairs restaurant. The vegetables were atrocious and tasteless. Steak was like a minute steak folded in two. Not restaurant quality.

We come here regularly and enjoy the food in the pizzeria. On the last few occasions, we have not had such great service. We will persevere and if necessary will mention this at the next visit. Food, however, is always good so well done tot he chefs.

Another restaurant near home went last year for our Christmas dinner excellent food and drinks good service and great atmosphere very expensive but it was Christmas Day

There are two parts to the restaurant, an upstairs pitzarria and a silver service downstairs. Been to both but for special occasions go downstairs and last night for a birthday it was great.

Lovely restaurant and the best staff anywhere. Always have a great evening when we visit. Would definitely recommend.

We have been visiting the Bella Vista on and off now for more than 25 years and always found the food to be of a very good standard, with a good atmosphere in a very nice room setting. However, on the past couple of occasions the service has drastically let the restaurant down... we visited on a Saturday night and there was an older gentleman (manager or maitre de ?) who seemed to be in charge of the dining room - being polite i can only assume had had a bad day as his attitude was a disgrace to a restaurant of this standing and certainly not something for the younger members of the staff to look up to. On arrival there was no greeting, no hello good evening, just a wave of his finger for us to follow him, he seated us down without making any eye contact constantly looking around and ignoring us - thank god we were attended to by other staff through the meal - however as we had a good view of the restaurant it became obvious that his bad treatment of us wasn't a one off. One of the other guests had to return their food (not sure of the reason) and as he was handed the plate he turned away but in our direction and exclaimed F***K it! louder enough for both myself and my wife to hear. As he was in a world of his own he was oblivious that other guests may have noticed this... Our food as usual was great but a message to the Owners - move this chap along and quick he is a bad influence on the hard working younger members of bad staff and a bad reflection on your restaurant group.

Visited this restaurant last night to help celebrate our granddaughter's birthday.

Food nice but service very very slow. The service charge we paid at £11 was a rip off. Nearly three hours to deliver 2 courses and drinks. Younger waiting staff didn’t seem to have a clue and older waiting staff thought they were comedians but were just extremely annoying. Won’t be back.

One mistake after another from not getting any potatoes with the sea bass to the wrong dessert, all served by grumpy non smiling waiters. To top it off they even got the bill wrong. When I brought this to the waiters attention, he proceeded to huff and puff at me. I will not be returning.

Had great expectations but disappointed instead. Raw brocoli and cauliflower and tasteless sauce over chicken and was not very warm.

I had my wedding breakfast hear and the food was something out of this world I was so pleased we picked this place beautiful grounds and amazing food and the staff were fantastic made my wedding day that little bit more special

We couldn't have anticipated how perfect our big day was going to be, but thanks to Bella Vista we truly had the best day of our lives.

Had a lovely wedding reception at Bella Vista. Staff were fantastic and worked hard to make sure everything went well. Meal was excellent too. Ample room for the band and disco.Worth a look if anyone has a wedding and looking for a venue.

Three of us have been eating at the pizzeria for over 25 years, and the quality of the food has never been in question. The staff are always fantastic!

We have been visiting this restaurant for many years, many of the staff are the same as 20yrs or so, the place is lovely unfortunately the food has gone downhill.

We were a party of 12, celebrating a special birthday. The food and service was just first class, although the restaurant was very busy all the food arrived piping hot, something that is always so important. A big thank you to all the staff for a wonderful evening.

Came here with my partner & daughter on a busy Sunday afternoon and had a fabulous time! The pizzeria was busy, service was excellent and the pasta & my girls pizza was delicious! Really would recommend to others!

Bellavista is our family favourite. Sunday lunch menu is so value for money. Quality food, lovely welcoming service every time. Can't fault. Would definitely recommend. We go regular in the main restaurant x

Didn't get to actually eat here. Tried to book a table for 2 on a Saturday only to be told they only take bookings for 6 or more and we would probably get a table!

Love it here. Beautiful place, great staff, great food, always on hot plates and good value for money. A place to go where you don't feel uncomfortable if you dress up! Lovely light and modern and airy.

Went for a takeaway pizza and penne con pollo on the early bird £7 each. Pizza - Dolcelatte, goats cheese, Mozzarella and fresh tomatoes. Perfecto!

I think the Italians make the best restaurant staff, always attentive always charming and efficient. Had a drink at the bar before we were taken to our table. I ordered the monkfish wrapped in parma ham. Cheryl ordered the Salmon. The monkfish was excellent, the only criticism being that the parma ham was a little salty. I left the wine choice to the waiter and his choice was a good one, I passed on the sweet, but Cheryl went for the cake which was despatched with a lick of the lips. The barman ordered our taxi and we left satisfied with our visit which was at very reasonable cost.

My grandson had his christening party in the upstairs room which you can hire for private parties. It was a perfect venue, in a beautiful setting the food was great and Ellio and his team were amazing tending to our every need, they were professional and friendly, always smiling, one guest arrived later after finishing work and the team put some food together very quickly, we really couldn't have asked for anymore.

We take the Bella Vista for granted as it is our closest restaurant, but it is consistently good, the staff are always friendly and helpful, the food is always good and good value for money.

Visited for a family birthday meal. Excellent food, a little pushy to get your order but you get that at most other restaurants. There where a few birthday meals in. They took time out to give each there own individual cake with a candle and wished them happy birthday. Great evening

We visited the Bella Vista to celebrate my wife's birthday and early retirement. The venue was chosen by our daughter who had been there before. The atmosphere and food was excellent the service was not 100% but that was due to the restaurant being absolutely full and some where large parties. Overall the visit was fantastic and I would definitely visit the Bella Vista again,maybe a romantic meal for two next time.
