Bella Italia in Darlington

Normally the food is fantastic, however we ordered Marco Polo pasta today for a change, however it arrived with absolutely no Duck meat - I wish this was an exaggeration but sadly not - basically just a bowl of pasta and sauce with nothing else.

We visited the Bella Italia restaurant in Darlington on Sunday 11th May. We always enjoy the food at Bella Italia. We decided to use the free Lasagne offerI received on my email. This makes going out a lot more affordable. All the staff were lovely with a ready smile, especially Lauren. We both had mushrooms.for starters..Ny husband had the free Lasagne for a main course followed by Latte. I had the spaghetti bolognaise. The food as always was piping hot the restaurant was welcoming. We really enjoyed our meal and hope to be back again soon. Thank you. John and Pat

we leave delivery instructions every time and people still don't read them and go to the wrong place. it's sad that pur food comes lukewarm to cold almost every time. this needs fixing

Me and my boys visit here once every couple of months. The staff are lovely and friendly. I'm coeliac and they are always very accommodating and nothing ever seems like a trouble.

I ordered a meal deal and the restaurant did not include the drink. How hard can it be to read the order of 3 things and put them in a bag.

Lovely and quiet as it was a Thursday tea time but Wow! The food was excellent, I’ve had pasta in Italy and I have to admit this was the nicest. Serving staff were very good and attentive. I’m coming again next week, definitely! If you want good food, good service and a great dining experience then come here!

Great food atentative staff great afternoon

My wife and I call in here for a meal before going to the cinema. We have always had excellent food and service. Lauren and Charlie make us feel like VIPs. Our other favourite eating places have declined over the past year so we will be visiting here more often.

It was a great visit again. Food 6 nice and just the right amount with a good selection. Service was exceptional. Laura is always very welcoming and cheery, bringing food in good time and coming back to make sure everything is OK. We will be back 😃.

We come here quite regularly due to having lots of fussy children. Bella Italia is a great option for us for birthday treats! Service is great, faith was amazing, extremely helpful and really friendly, even after we rocked up unannounced for a table of 9 😀

These guys couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery if they tried. Clearly no organisation between the kitchen and staff. Food was left on the counter for a good while and came out lukewarm. For how expensive it I don’t think I’ll ever bother going back to a Bella Italia. There’s much better Italian restaurants that are not chains. Poor service and poor food.

Hadn’t been in for a while but Lauren recognised us straight away, took us to our ‘usual’ table and she even knew what drinks we have! Brilliant!

Today I wanted to take my 2 little ones for lunch after cinema. When I asked for a table, I was told they take bookings only for today (Mother’s Day). There was no information on their website about it. The restaurant was empty, so I didn’t see any reason to turn us around. So disappointing, and ridiculous policy, when they looked to be really quiet!

Visited this restaurant Sunday 9th March at 5pm with my family and enjoyed our experience here so much that I made the effort to post a review, fast service to table and delivered our drinks in super quick time, took our food orders, Our waitress Lauren was so happy and efficient that she deserves a mention, the food was excellent in all aspects and we left there full as a gun and left empty plates all round, we had a mixture of drinks including Cocktails and wine and was pleasantly surprised with the Total cost. Now I'm sure your saying well so what ?, We eat out a lot and I have to say all in all the whole staff including the chefs deserve a round of applause because we know it only takes one thing to ruin a night. Visited as a fairly large group as part of a birthday, it’s clear the restaurant can’t handle groups of more than 6. We waited a really long time to be seated, when we were seated we then waited again for a really long time to order drinks. After another decent wait our drinks arrived (we’d been sat down for nearly 50 minutes at this point) but one was missing, we had to ask staff three times for the missing drink. We waited some more because nobody came to take our food order, so we had to catch a member of staff as they were walking past. As ever, we waited for food coming. We’d been sat down for over an hour and a half by the point the food came. Desserts - another wait - the ice cream arrived half melted, as if it had been prepared and sat out for a while. The only thing that did come in a timely manner was the birthday cake. But sure enough, when we asked for some napkins to serve the cake… we had to wait. Overall, the service was really poor. We definitely didn’t feel looked after, which was such a shame because we could see other diners getting great treatment from the staff. The manager even sat down for a couple of minutes to talk to a couple near us. My advice to the restaurant would be to take a look at how you handle group bookings. Perhaps implement a preordering system, or even a limit on how many people you can cater for.

Didn’t even turn up!!!!!! Took 2 hours and said order delivered and it most certainly wasn’t. Livid is an understatement.

Booked for 6 of us for a birthday, the team were very accommodating even decorating the booth for us, it was our first visit but will definitely be returning soon, we had a toddler in our party who got a little restless so decided she wanted to go for a walk around the restaurant and say hi to the team, the entire team were incredibly friendly with her and very patient, absolutely brilliant experience unfortunately didn’t catch the names of the team but thank you all again

The quality of food was first class - we both had pizzas - but the main thing for us was the staff member - Lauren - who served us. She was great and if every restaurant had someone like her it would be wonderful! She was very attentive; very helpful; nothing too much trouble, and she even laughed at my old man jokes!

I ordered calamari and Bolognese pasta. I've never had calamari before until today and so I can't review that but the Bolognese pasta was unfortunately tasteless. I'm not sure I'll order from here again when Bolognese pasta is my favourite.

booked a table for mine and my boyfriends anniversary I didn’t catch her name but got the most lovely service from her she made our experience special and we appreciated it so much, amazing atmosphere and just an overall cozy and fun vibe, amazing food and beautifully decorated dessert

The restaurant was very peaceful when we arrived for dinner, and even then, the food took a bit longer than expected to arrive. However, the food was delicious, and the coffee was quite flavorful. The waitress was very attentive and prompt. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, and I would highly recommend it.

Unfortunately, despite the positive reviews on both Google and the application through which we ordered this pizza, we were very disappointed. The pizzas that are in the reviews and in the photos when ordering for delivery are heaven and earth compared to what we got, the pizza looked and tasted like some kind of frozen food, getting something like that from a restaurant with Italia in the name - a failure. Cheese that didn't even melt. I'm attaching a photo because I don't even know how to describe it, the ready-made pizzas from the store are better than what we got. Fortunately, I had a discount and we paid £5 for this pizza, because if I had paid £12/13 for such a pizza, it would definitely have been complained about. The pizza is edible, but if I bought it in a store and not at a pizzeria. Maybe there's a mistake, I don't know, because it looks completely different in the photos in other reviews.

Ordered at 17:09 it arrived 19:03! Nearly two hours for two Luke warm pizzas.Constant pushing of ETA. I had to ring the restaurant. They clearly prioritised seated customers. Took several attempts to get through. It was my daughter’s birthday and she asked for pizza. She was so hungry she started to cry had to giver her an apple and a frozen pizza. Such a downer to a great day.I was so annoyed. Complete lack of communication from just eat and Bella Italia. Will never use either again.

My family and I ordered a pizza amongst other food items. The vegetarian pizza came with a drizzle on it that my wife did not like. The staff there were more than happy to make us a new pizza from fresh. This wasn't out experience in other establishments so well done you guys. Keep up the good work.

Went yesterday evening arrived checked in with a smile sat down table dirty asked them to clean it waited ages for drinks order then again to take food order we had seen the starter sat on the top for probably 20 mins we got it it was overdone then mains came was overdone again I had to go to the bar to get more drinks wasn’t asked and we had seen people walking out from been ignored people Getting 25 percent of food and free drinks because of the chaos everywhere but the girls still managed to text on there phones in between serving customers we arrived at 6.50 left 9.20 for a simple 2 course meal 😂 was funny to watch it was like faulty towers in 2024 can honestly say we will not be returning 😂

Was tempted to pick up the £10 me & my daughter left for a tip. Was sat down passed a menu no communication only are you ready to order after 1 minute no thank when leavinh you no did you enjoy your meal no nothing the 2 women serving in a empty restaurant were to busy chatting at the bar even the chef shouted out service ti grab there attention . Actually the chef did say hello & good evening when we was walking into the restaurant as he was having a break outside. Off putting a simple hello would not hurt deffinatly would not go back due to bad manners.
