La comida aquí era absolutamente preciosa y una de las mejores carnes que he tenido en los últimos tiempos. Muchas gracias por el gran personal en este restaurante.

We booked lunch here as we are renovating our home, big mistake ! The meals cost £75 per person, granted it was Christmas day but one would expect something rather special. We had to pay in full and pre order our meals in November. On our arrival there wasn't anyone to "greet us" despite a table of pre made drinks I checked in at reception, my partner bought drinks from the bar, they didn't have sweet sherry which I found amazing for a hotel of that size ! After he'd left his card details a waiter offered us Bucks fizz or orange juice, he then dropped a full tray of drinks smashing the glasses, wandered off without a care for health and safety just as a family with young children came in. I had already asked several times for a table near a window as my elderly aunt is partially sighted, I was told it wouldn't be a problem. When we got into the restraint our table was in the centre of the room , nowhere near a window. The Christmas decorations had been put up but the mess made by this hadn't been cleaned up. Our table had name cards with the initials of our pre booked menu choice on S for soup and so on. My aunt is vegetarian, she had chosen a tart for starter, unfortunately there was another T on the menu, terrine ( AKA chicken liver pate) this was garnished with mushrooms and to all tense and purposes could have been mistaken for mushroom pate. My aunt began to eat this. My partner was given the tart but looked perplexed. We had to pre order a month before and like lots of people had forgotten what he'd ordered. I then realised that my aunt was eating meat. As she has been a vegetarian for over 40 years I was horrified on her behalf, we didn't tell her as she is 90 years old and it was Christmas day. I told the waitress and the staff began to double check everyone else's meal choices before they made a similar mistake to others. The meal itself wasn't that good either, there was no bread sauce with the turkey, the stuffing and the other "accompaniments" didn't appear to be home made. The desserts were actually quite nicely presented, the best part of the meal but the coffee was like mud. Our waitress knocked off 3 glasses of wine from the bill, not a big deal since we had paid £ 300 for 4 diners. My Christmas day was ruined, the whole experience was just awful, what should have been a relaxing meal was quite the opposite. There appeared to be a manager of sorts in the restaurant but he didn't even bother to come to speak with us, he left the explanations to the waitress, who was quite attentive and pleasant . I have since completed a questionnaire from the hotel and guess what ? No response as yet, therefore I feel its only right to share my experience and disappointment with others.

This is of course a hotel, which by nature is a little more expensive than other places, what I like about this hotel is that you don't mind paying a little more as it is very comfortable and the service is fantastic, what it is like when it is really busy I cannot say but I felt like royalty the way I was treated here and I was only using their and lounge for a meeting, great facilities and attention to details especially from the staff is very commendable

Lets get one thing clear. This is not your standard hotel restaurant. Based within the Thistle Hotel in Haydock, probably the premier hotel in the area, Beechers offers a great place to celebrate something special. We have been twice. The first occasion was on our 1st Wedding Anniversary, which was a complimentary dinner as we had held our Wedding at the hotel the previous year. The second time was a Valentine's special. On both occasions, the food was amazing, the service extremely efficient and professional and the atmosphere suitably tailored to the event. I would recommend it anyone who is looking for somewhere a bit different for that special occasion. And lets face it, should it be needed, a nice place to stay the night too!!

I only visited a week ago and I am struggling to recall what we ate, its nicely presented, "average" hotel food, charged at c. 50% more than it should be. Tha'ts right I had a club sandwich, which was perfectly fine and servicable, but that's about it. The chips did come in mini frying basket type things, which amused my son immensely. One big positive was service, couldn't fault it. If Tripadvisor ever see sense and change Very Good to Good, I'd give it 4 stars, but only as a Good. Why do they go from Average to Very Good? Seems bonkers, surely there is a far bigger difference between an Average and Very Good establishment as there is between Very Good and Excellent?

We came to beechers restaurant for a fathers day meal. We were well looked after from the moment we walked through the door. The selection and quality of starters was excellent . Our table was cleared quickly after each course. Our main meal was a carvery which was very fresh and the meats were well cooked. An excellent assortment of desserts finished off a delightful experience at beechers restaurant at the thistle hotel haydock .

The Beecher’s restaurant is located in the Thistle Hotel at Haydock. Booking was easy and there is adequate parking (though somewhat dependant on other events at the hotel). I have used this restaurant whilst staying at the hotel whilst on business in the area. First impressions were good and the actual restaurant area is in keeping with the Georgian style of the 4* hotel which gives it a good ambiance for dining. The Staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable enough to answer any questions concerning the menu itself which gave an adequate choice, including alternatives for the vegetarian palates. However this is where there is a need for direction and making up its mind to what it actually is… Part of their menu covers what I can on describe as being more in keeping with a local pizza house takeaway than the modern Bistro with British and European cuisines that it is trying to portray itself as (and which would be more in keeping with the ambience and its 4* location). Almost the same menu is also available in the bar area so why book into the restaurant in the first place. The food ordered was excellent in its preparation, presentation and portion size – again very much in keeping with a modern European cuisine and reasonably priced. However the wine menu is somewhat limited, especially when it comes to items of a sparkling nature. As a business traveller I would recommend this restaurant for its modern ambience, approach and some of its food – however it really does need to take decide what it actually is in terms of cuisine and what impression it wants to give.
