BBQ X-Press Ocakbasi Restaurant in Hackney

My first time ordering a take away kebab from bbq xpress and gladly surprised ! They have even proper tables inside so it is not just a typical takeaway place. I also was very surprised with the professionalism of the staff. Super fast and super correct. Not very often one can say that…) I haven’t tried the ones that are just next to them but to be honest, I don’t think I am going to give them a go! Meat and vegetables were fresh and tasted superb! I will definitely come back!

I was walking past this restaurant on my way to The Hackney Empire theatre and decided to get a quick bite to eat as I like grilled food. The waitress was delightful and when I did not like the wines offered on the menu she summonsed the owner who brought me a different wine he had in stock. He proceeded to fill my glass until I stopped him. He then brought over a complimentary Humus and delicious pitta bread. I ordered so lamb ribs and will post a photo. The meal was delicious and cannot fault the service. My only advice to the owner is to make the restaurant prettier and more inviting decor wise. I bought a portion of humus as takeaway as it was very good. I will certainly return when visiting this part of London. Very reasonably priced.

Charged me 8 quid for chips after a night out, looked at my balance the night after and 1 kebab, chips and a drink cost me over 20 quid, clearly happy to swindle people

Sunday 21 March 2021 Price = Better than nearby places under 10 minutes away (5 out of 5) Cleanliness = No complaints. Usual good standards. Everything kept in separate designated areas. (5 out of 5) Service = Great service and honest business. They might not have the 5star hospitality of some 'posher/cooler' places but nice people. (5 out of 5) Food/Restaurant = The food was a lovely in flavour and filling in portion size. I ordered the 'Platter for 2' and it came with 3 sticks of meat, grilled peppers, rice, bread and two separate portions of salad. Usually in some eateries they just give you one small salad to share. (5 out of 5) Overall Experience = I thoroughly enjoyed my experience eating at BBQ X-Press (even though it was a take away due to government restrictions). I actually walk past a handful of similar eateries but choose to walk further to eat from here. 4 out of 5 overall. Would buy from here again (this isn't my first time) and would recommend if you are nearby and need something to eat.

La carne estaba buena y caliente, ensalada, salsas y pitta sabía delicioso. La única mejora que recomendaría sería si el arroz se sirviera por separado para evitar que se ablande debajo de las carnes.

Very cheerful staff even during late afternoon rush. We received filling wraps that were delicious if a bit overly greasy considering it was only chicken. A pitta may have better served. Generous portion of chips too, perfect for an on the fly indulgent meal. Really appreciated that there were fresh vegetables on display instead of the usual limp, sad offerings.
