Tastes nothing like a Chinese. Hardly ate anything apart from the boiled rice. Crispy Salt and chilli chicken was not crispy, salt chilli chips were soggy and the kids meal bland with boiled chicken but I guessed this could be case so I got them a gravy. The gravy was like no gravy Iv seen and was spicy. Also forgot my drink from the order. I wouldn’t go back

Ordered banquet for 2, delivery. Only 1 spring roll, only 1 chicken skewer. Rang to complain, was told it was enough, except, it’s on their menu as TWO (2) of each. Was told get a FREE curry next time. THERE WONT BE A NEXT TIME ! Good not as good & customer service WOEFUL.

What has happened to Bawon?….since the new staff crew are working there it has gone to the dogs. Second inedible - first time I put down to bad luck, but second time is a pattern. Makes eating there a healthy option as you have the pleasure of ordering and waiting, but saved from the calories as you can’t eat it!

didn't know this chinese had changed hands having gone for many years without complaint - really poor meal on weekend past - katsu curry where the sauce is black in colour and totally tasteless, really!!! quite frankly the entire meal was similar to what you'd pick up in a garage when in a rush in the 3 for £10 option except our bill came to close on £40 got a free tin of fanta and coke for delivery being very late - won't be back which is a shame given how it used to be

Lucky not to be in the Ulster hospital. Chicken balls absolutely raw in the middle . Was offered a free sweet and sour chicken when I return . Think I will give that a miss

Had a take away last night My king prawn curry with fried rice was the worst yet. Curry sauce was watered down and almost tasteless Onions tasted more like they’d been boiled rather than cooked in a wok!! Very very disappointing!!!!

Ordered from this place twice, many many people swear by it. First time I was given raw chicken, when I phoned to complain, yes they apologised but said they wouldn’t charge me for a starter on my next visit.not a gushing apology. Decided I’d never go back until I was railroaded on a family Chinese night to order again from there. Thought I’d keep it simple, chicken fried rice. Again raw chicken. Didn’t eat , didn’t complain I’ll never be back.

We've used this Chinese regularly. So we can honestly review it. We had wonderful food every time. Good portions and always piping hot. The young men who work on the desk are extremely courteous. Keep up the good work. Ty.

Annoying to see your chips and part of your meal sat out waiting whilst other orders ( large delivery order ) distracted. Seemed forever, appeared part of order was made up / some placed in heater ( i assume ) and then 10min or longer before meal pieced together. So aside from the actual wait, the food, rice, chips are at best warm upon leaving. However couple of other things were hot eg spring rolls ( good size, cripsy ) and sauces etc Perhaps bad timing, one of those things, and in the past no real issues. It's our local, its ok at best, nothing special which is a shame, would love a place with nice fluffy rice and big bits of egg etc - but then each to their own i guess and to be honest, im more a fish/chips man. Obviously menu to choose beforehand, but orders with sides etc...bit confusing / bit of thought and could cut the cost re ordering too much but thats down to me and i dont often have a chinese so not really familiar. Cash only which is a pain. Took to writing 'review' as not really happy with getting 'warm' food, and living 5minute away at best wasnt the issue.

We’ve had food from Ba Won a number of times and it’s fine but the staff are very unfriendly and unaccomodating. They only take cash (it’s 2022, not 1972!) and although delivery is meant to be within a 3 mile area they don’t actually deliver to 3 miles and refused to deliver to my address 2.9 miles away. No apology just a sharp and rude NO. They obviously don’t need the money

I've been going here for quite a while now a few years maybe. Lately the simple task of making chip that look like they have only been cooked once or twice tops. Never had such awful chips in my life. Though every time I switch Chinese it's down to rubbish chips. You would think that would be the easy part to master. Disappointed to be honest as when we switched to here it was amazing

Poor service received while collecting family meal. Ordered family dinner for collection, was advised meals would be ready in 15 mins. Arrived to collect order within approx 15 mins, I was told it would be 5 mins before meals would be ready and I was handed a pager and asked to stand outside. After approx 15 mins I went back into Bawon to enquire if my meals were ready as pager hadn't buzzed, I was told quite sharply "no and would be paged when ready. Once again I waited outside as requested, while standing outside I noticed a selection of carrier bags on counter containing meals, after waiting for another 15/20 mins I once again went into Bawon to enquire if my meals were ready as I noticed my pager seemed to have switched off, I pointed out to counter staff there seemed to be an issue with pager to which they agreed there was an issue. It turned out that one of the bags on the counter which had been sitting there for approx 20 mins contained my order. I pointed out that meals would be look warm/cold and that was unacceptable the reply I was given that they were still warm and would be fine, when I got home and started to dish out meals they were now cold just as I pointed out to staff before I left Bawon that would be the case. I rang Bawon straight away to complain to which their reply was sorry which I said was totally unacceptable, I asked for some form of discount for my next visit (regular customer) to which I was told they were not in a position to offer any discount I was offered replacement meals but I pointed out I wasn't driving back to collect, I was offered for meals to be delivered but would take up to an hour to arrive arrive, I declined offer as by this stage my family and I were now off eating dinner. Looking through other reviews there seems to be a pattern of poor customer service.

POOR. Having been a regular customer just to call in for a portion of chips for his daughter to be served what I got was unbelievable. Stale hard untasteable crap and for £3 you need to sort that out. You have just lost a valued customer

Most Satay sauces from Chinese take away's taste like runny, over-salted gravy. This satay sauce actually contained enough peanuts to carry forward their flavour into the chilli peanut sauce of heaven.

Had the chicken curry Big chunks of tough chicken. Onions as hard as rocks. The only thing I would buy is the curry sauce which is lovely. Even though it’s convenient for me I would rather go anywhere else. No thank you.

Never had any problems with staff or delivery waiting times. Food is always hot and delicious. Recommend the katsu curry, honey chilli chicken and kung po. Plus all the other dishes we've tried!!! Keep it up guys

I use this takeaway often and it's usually pretty brilliant although they've gotten it wrong a few times and refuse to accept responsibility, and have stood their ground that I placed what they delivered. Not worth falling out over but now I always get them to repeat back to me. Staff are ok but the guy who owns it isn't friendly at all. Food is really good though especially the Portuguese curry and the Satay.

This one of 5 Asian takeaways in my area. Order once a month on payday weekends. Food is lovely, hot, and plenty of it. Usual delivery time is 60 minutes.

It is a shame this happened as their food is definitely the nicest Chinese in the area - just don't request a delivery - order over phone and collect. After waiting 2.5 hours for a delivery we were advised they didn't deliver to our address - why was order taken? its actually under 3.5 miles from their door to mine.....the girl hung up on me too when I questioned why not.. disappointing to say the least and very poor customer service!

Safe to say I am absolutely disgusted!! I have been waiting for my delivery for over 2 and a half hours with no updates or apologies and the fact that they have the nerve to call after 2 AND A HALF HOURS !! To tell us that they don’t deliver out that far. That information would have been really helpful before we gave them the address and wasted our time! Not to mention the abysmal customer service and rude staff! THANKS FOR NOTHING !!!!

Been going here regularly for a couple of years now after trying many different places. It's consistent and good quality, only ever had one or two issues with wrong orders. Dry salted chilli chicken is delicious!

After so many disappointments with other Chinese’s this has now became a regular one we would use. Food always seems fresh and not greasy. We would eat various things but our sons prefer there chicken balls here and they are quite fussy. Haven’t had a bad meal so far and used them about 6 times over the summer.

Wrong order delivered when I rang was basically told “ so sh*” expensive food not worth “sh*t” . Ordered against advice never again . Gary the Manager needs lesson in manners

If you want to continue to get the delivery service make sure you never complain about cold food and return it. Feedback meant refusal to deliever

We order from here all the time, it's the only consistently high quality chinese in the area in our experience. The food is always of a very high standard, cooked promptly with no messing around. A very impressive take away service all round.

Food is always consistently good. However staff leave a lot to be desired especially the tall cook. No please or thank you from him - tells you off if you arrive too early for your meal collection.

Had a takeaway from here and it was really good. The spring rolls were massive and maybe a bit too much with a main course as well. Very tasty though!

I ordered sweet and sour chicken and fried rice which is normally lovely. I also ordered another dish which was fine. The rice was disgusting craggy, greasy and went straight into the bin. The chicken balls were obviously fried in oil that was too hot. Burnt at the ends and soggy inside. A complete stodgy mess. I called to complain. The girl on the counter was so apologetic but the chef in the background did not take any responsibility and it was as if I was telling porkies?? There was no offer of a redelivery, an apology frome the kitchen, absolutely nothing?? Never will order again.

This restaurant offers food that is obviously prepared in advance and therefore does not feel like it has been made fresh. Cash only is never a good sign and certainly not acceptable in today’s cashless environment.

Love this carry out. The fried rice is great and not brown and greasy, they make their own spring rolls, not frozen ones. Other reviewers have complained that the sauces are thin, I haven't experienced that. In addition I'm pretty sure the dishes are not overloaded with MSG. Best of all It's an open kitchen and always looks very clean.

Great Chinese very friendly well run family business. Food served very quickly and always so tasty. Try the Bawon hot and spicy its yummy.

I've been trying a few new take always to try other places never thought of bawon as it's on the far side of the town .so got beef in black peer and garlic sauce with boiled rice .with out a doubt the best dish I ever had .food is crisp clean and truly bursting with flavour.the delivery was fast .driver was very polite .a must try if your into Chinese food

A proper Chinese take away. Well cooked food, proper chicken unlike many take aways, great tasting sauce with depth of flavours. It's all cooked in an open clean kitchen for all to see.It's definitely no1 on my list now.

Called in to order and pick up a meal for two of us, ordered and had our meal and were on our way inside 15 minutes. All the food we ordered was tasty, filling and most of all hot ( nothing worse than cold takeaway)Not our first time @ BaWon and certainly won't be our last.

This is easily m favourite takeaway in bangor. A great choice and all the classics are done well. The satay sauce is outstanding.

I rang through an order and was told it would be ready in only 5 mins. I arrived 10 mins after my order and then had to wait a further 15 minutes for it to be ready. 3 meals came to £20.10 so fairly expensive. The quality of the food could not be faulted

Live locally so use the Bawon a lot. Food used to be terrific but has gone downhill this last few months. Last nights meal will be our last until we hear things have improved. Such a shame as good Chinese takeaways are numerous in Bangor but quality could be better. Bawon used to stand out but now it's as average as the rest.

Situated in a local village community -it is the 'smell of this place that one initially notices-but saying that they are cooking- With over 30 Chinese establishments in a town the of Bangor -then customer service 'with a smile; is vital- IF the counter staff are NOT texting on their phones or chatting then a nod of the head is the usual welcome. There are a number of cooks and the lady always has a smile-as has the older gentleman -However the tall person and the 'others'appear to be very off hand indeed and even seen to be not respected from the counter servers-Avoid Saturday evening as the food is way below power and there are many many better places than this who have cheerful staff- It is also a disgrace in this day and age that this place to take 'cards ; of any sort - they seem to take a 'sneer approach' when they inform customers ' you can go into the shop or across the road there are machines there- NO I CAN'T - should be the reply and walk out!!!! if more people did this it may change things - Money is money and they are refusing to accept the offer of of being legally paid - It should be made illegal NOT to take payment cards in this day and age-people do not carry money- Establishments who refuse card payments should be places under a tax investigation !

Food is excellent. Fresh and affordable. The only thing i could ask more of is more foods that are egg free, and faster delivery.

Called in on a Friday night after work, the take away was busy ( which I take as a good sign ) and the phone was going all the time we were there for delivery orders. The Filo prawns are class, with a sweet chilli dip, just enough chilli for a nice burn, 1/4 duck tasty with the Hoi Sin sauce.My sweet & sour chicken ( Hong Kong style ) had plenty of chicken, peppers, onion and sauce. The chicken satay skewers are also fantastic.As you can tell we went to town on the order but every bit was worth it.It helps there is a crackin offie just across the road for any wine needs.Will be visiting again for sure.

This has to be the best Asian Chinese take away in the Greater Bangor area. Food is of a high standard. Phone and book your meal within 5 to 10 minutes it is ready to collect or they will deliver it to your home.

Was excellent when it opened, however the quality seems to have decreased in recent months. Also they only accept cash which is annoying. There are better carry outs in the town.

There are very few Chinese/Far Eastern restaurants which stand apart from the rest because of menu innovation. This isn't one of them. However, they do the basics very well. I'm a card-carrying Gaze goer, but Ba Won is certainly there to keep them on their toes.

Been using this Chinese for some years but after tonight I won't be. My other half collected our meal, drove home, started dishing it out and realised they hadn't included our kids sweet and sour chicken balls so off he went back again as fast as he could in order that we could all eat together. Girl at counter was extremely busy (talking to the delivery diver!!) But eventually gave him a portion of chicken balls said sorry and went back to her conversation!!Not to be funny but I thought that was just a little bit wick so I called them and said I was surprised they hadn't offered any kind of compensation. We live a good 5 minute drive away if traffic is light and kids waited for their food while my other halfs went cold!! Even a bag of prawn crackers would have been something. The girl said, 'i did say sorry and we could have delivered them out to you'. Well clearly she thinks this is customer service (some staff trainng needed there I think). She then hung up on me so I called her back to see had she really just hung up on me and she said she had because they were busy. This was at 5.15pm. Not a sinner in the shop, my friend walked past a couple of minutes after my call, so she wasn't only rude she was a liar.Portion sizes seem smaller as well. We had got takeaway from here two weeks ago and thought the same but were giving it another go to see.As far as food standard goes it's pretty much the same as any other bog standard Chinese in bangor, lucky for us as we'll not be back!!

Got a delivery last night 5th March....2 hours later and it was disgusting....more oil in the gravy than gravy, chicken so skinny and hard. Phonned to get a refund and they wouldnt give it unless I brought it back they wouldnt send a driver, manager wouldnt even come to the phone to speak with me. Definitely will never be back!!

Having found this takeaway about 6 months ago we raved and made this our weekly Chinese meal. However, since reopening after new year break it would seem that the quality and quantity of the food has slowly gone downhill. The shredded chicken USED to be quite good with really good pieces of chicken used. Now when you stipulate this as a mains not a starter you only get a few pieces of chicken (which are shrivelled and dry) with the bulk of the dish being vegetables. The rice is clumpy, the chips are awful and the overall portion size of other dishes are disappointing. Will be giving this place a miss for a while (three chances used) until I hear things have improved.

Ordered a couple of meals this evening. Everything was fine until I opened the portion of noodles. The bean sprouts in the noodles were sour and the dish smelt awful. They must have been sitting for a while because the order was ready in minutes. Everything else was great, let down by inedible side order.

This is what Ballyholme has been needing for years, which is probably one of the reasons this take away only has become so popular since it opened a few years ago. The menu is varied, with all the usual Chinese offerings, (Hong Kong, Peking, Szechuan, Hakka, Macau) but also with some Japanese, Thai and Korean style dishes. All freshly prepared in front of your eyes if you call to collect. Prices are reasonable too. Delivery service available

Watery black bean sauce Honey chicken tasted better from a microwave meal for one .Sweaty chips , overly dry rice .All in all like it was made and sent to some one and wrong and kept until somewhat actually ordered it. Just put it in the bin and made beans on toast !I'll stick with my usual place

I went in to order and was amazed and how busy it was, I was also stuck by the open kitchen that appeared very clean, tidy and all the chefs (about 6) were all in clean chef whites and busy cooking away. I ordered and was told it would be 20mins, I knew it would be longer, because i guessed from how busy it was it may be good. The food,Salt and chilli squid starter, lovely mix of flavours, nice and spicy and good chunks of squid.....delicious Szechwan king prawn, beautiful and plentiful king prawns and the sauce was divinePortuguese combo curry. I like spice and coconut, this was just what I love! Fantastic mix!My girlfriend and I loved the food, I was bothered about the wait, places that are good....are busy.....Looking forward to take away night again, I'll have to try something else from their extensive yet not over bearing menu.

I've been twice and and bother orders completely wrong. First time a part of the main was completely missing and second I ordered vegetable spring rolls for a vegetarian and they had meat right through them. Just the basics. There's other great Chinese takeaways in Bangor and I'll be sticking to them.

Tried for the first time tonight and wish I had stuck to our usual Chinese.Horrible stodgy strange tasting fried rice, soggy pork in batter and almost raw vegatables. Quite disgusting really. Never again. There are too many excellent carryout in Bangor.

Would recommend the chicken curry, fillet of beef curry, black pepper fillet of beef, honey chilli chicken, chicken balls, chicken chow mein or salted chilli chicken. Food is delicious, always hot and neatly packed, great telephone service and speedy delivery. Never had any issues since we started ordering 2years ago

We regularily visit Bawon as they offer a more authentic tasting alternative to traditional chinese takeaways. Good portions, lots of veg and meats. Our fav's is the noodles with hot satay sauce.

You won't be disappointed with the food from this place. It's varied menu caters for all tastes and best of all the spotless 'open kitchen' lets you see it being prepared right in front of your eyes. A word of note, the premises operate on a 'cash only' basis but there is an ATM directly opposite. The set meal for two is terrific value.

Good fresh food hope they continue to use goood ingredients and not start skimping like a lot do once they get established

My partner Roy reccomended we try this place out and I am so glad we did. Best chinese in Bangor!!! We went for a meal for 2 and got an extra side.. it could have easily fed 5 people. Amazing quality and speedy service. Open pass kitchen so you can see it all being made which is always comforting. Definitely reccomend it!

fed a large party of us, the lady on the phone was so polite as was the lady who delivered it to us. Beaming smiles makes for good service. The food was excellent as well, I just found my new favourite Chinese. Extremely good service.

Finally got a carry out from here. Ribs ok but the main course had tinned sauce and NO Chinese vegetables just carrots onions and peppers. Very run of the mill. What ever happened to authentic Chinese cuisine? Won't be back.

Since they opened a couple of years ago I haven't needed to use any other Bangor take-away. The food is excellent - great selection of very tasty dishes, and if you phone an order for collection it is always ready when they say it will - they don't wait until you arrive to collect before starting to cook your order, like other local take-always. Friendly efficient counter staff add to the experience.

The driver who does the delivery is very pleasant and always smiles also the girl who takes my order is always pleasant and when she is busy she always says sorry and can l wait for a few minutes .She does try to sort out when there is a mistake made and l have even had the owner deliver my meal on less the time told to me . Of course places make mistakes but they are few and far between there dishes are very nice give it a go.

I have used Bawon quite a bit and have found the food always to be good, it's a bit more expensive than other take aways but more recently the staff member who took our order over the phone have got our order wrong. We rang to complain the second time it happened and she said we could return the dish in question and get our original dish but items where already on the plate and they expected us to eat the remaining food without our main :/ We give up trying to get an outcome, would have been happy if they had of even give us a discount on our next order but unfortunately not!
