We had breakfast at the deli. The porridge and avocado on sour dough were really tasty. Owner operated, excellent service. Great ambience. Well priced. Highly recommended.

Found by chance. popped in for home made cake and coffee. What a fabulous little place, selling specialised meats, cheeses, locally produced pates, wines, homemade cakes, freshly squeezed juice etc. Brought smoked trout pate with dill. Delicious! will definitely return one weekend evening for glass of wine and meal.

A hidden gem that we found at a time when other venues were busy. It was quiet and had a great menu with unusual choices. Great service and everything was delicious. We didn't have dessert (no room!) but the cakes and pastries looked incredible! We will definitely go back. Thank you so much!

Delicious lunch at this friendly cafe. I had the Ukrainian pierogi, my husband the polish schnitzel with added raclette. There is a very extensive wine list and a brilliant menu, previous visits for brunch also utterly delicious. The food is carefully prepared and generous in portion size. One of my new faves in Winchester!

Lovely place!!! Now they do live music!! How exciting! I highly recommend as the food is amazing, the atmosphere is super cozy and staff extremely friendly, bubbly and helpful.

Strongly recommend the place. Super friendly team and great atmosphere. The food was one of the best we ever had. Cocktails were delicious. We also love cheese and we bought quite a lot for my family to take back home (it kept really well thanks the kindness of the team that provided additional wrapping paper and some cooling bags)

I have been a frequent visitor to the shop since it first opened in smaller premises but only recently tried their restaurant offering, which is also available for home delivery. Have tried a few times now and it’s really good. Lend your support to an independent local business and at the same time have a very enjoyable meal!

My third visit here to have Margarita pizza. Absolutely the best in Winchester. Worth a visit. Keep up the good work. Wine enjoyable too. I wouldn't go elsewhere for pizza.

Wow, Winchesters hidden gem! I’d seen the board outside you could visit for wine and food in the evening and after a disappointing search on the website, I gave Basil Leaf a call and I am so glad I did! Fantastic quality wines at reasonable prices, extensive evening meal selection and amazing sharing charcuterie boards with your choice of meats and cheese all serve with crackers, bread, fruit and pickles. The evening was made extra special with the best service from Merry and Kuba. I’ve given my feedback on getting menus and booking online so won’t dwell on that and I hope this means every time I want to visit, it won’t be fully booked! So pleased to have been able to experience another truly great independent experience in Winchester.

I've been shopping here for their range of cheeses and freshly baked bread for a while, as well as the rare exotic fruit. I tried the dining at their new location today and had a good time. The atmosphere was very casual and they had quite a good selection of food. I had the sweet potato and asparagus pizza which had a light traditional base. It came served on a wooden slab as opposed to a plate which was much quieter and somewhat blended with the table. I did not get dessert but they looked nice in the cabinet. Vegetarain products available.

My first visit since the deli moved to larger premises and added the option to sit in. Fabulous food, super friendly service and a great atmosphere - 100% would recommend and will definitely be back to try more from the menu

My favourite shop/café in Winchester! I frequently shopped at their previous premises and loved it then and now they have a bigger place with space for a café/restaurant it's even better! Highly recommend for top quality local and European produce, excellent meals, and very friendly service!

1st visit. Taken there by my son for lunch. Lovely selection of fresh food. Meal was very tasty & fresh. Very chilled environment. Had a look around the shop after with lots of chutneys, cheeses, bread, chocolate, fresh fruit & veg . Will definitely be hoing back for cake. All staff very friendly

We had a delightful lunch at the Basil Leaf Deli. We shared a cheeseboard with meats and fruit. It was just perfect for us. The staff were so helpful and advised us on what to choose. We will definitely be recommending it to friends and returning again soon!

We love it there! Viola always goes out of her way to provide us with incredible service and wonderful menu recommendations. The cheese boards are out of this world, with great food and wine pairings. I love shopping for fresh fruit and veg and other snacks after our meal. It’s a really friendly and professional place - our favourite in Winchester without question.

I visit this store often because the staff is friendly and helpful. I always find something I like. I usually have a cappuccino and a cake here. I love the variety they offer. I also do my shopping here. It's great that they have products that you can't find in other stores. Little gem in Winchester this Deli.

I was with my family at Basil Leaf Deli today completely by chance, and I don't regret it. It's something I can't even describe. It's not a restaurant, café, or even an ordinary store. It's a place where you want to sit for hours. The food is incredibly delicious - salmon with honey, and the wine is excellent. The service was very good, we didn't lack anything, and, on top of that, the kids received coloring books which kept them occupied while my husband and I could have a moment of relaxation. I regret not taking photos, but next time I visit, I'll definitely check out this place. It's worth it.

My daughter and I went into town today and decided to see whether Basil Leaf Deli could cater for coeliacs. When we asked, we were greeted with a definite yes. I was told that they would temporarily shut the kitchen, clean it down and then prepare the food we ordered. Salmon, oven chips and asparagus. Wow, our food was delicious, served with smiles and we didn't feel annoying. The coffee was really good. The items available to buy in the deli shop are varied and look delicious. We bought some Gouda Cumin cheese. I would highly recommend a visit.

Excellent service from Viola, spent another £170.00 . Just simply great food and great service! Will visit again soon.

I stop by this place every day because the staff there are always smiling and friendly, and they make the best locally roasted coffee in town. I have fresh pastries with my coffee every morning. I can also buy products there that I can't find elsewhere in the city. They always have fresh fruits and vegetables. But my favorite is the handmade made cheesecake. 🙂

Lovely restaurant with a shop and lots of different goods from Polish to Italian. Any Europeans will love this shop. Nice atmosphere and staff. Definitely coming back!

Preferred the old shop. Yes, the new shop is larger, but….there’s no character like old shop had. The appeal for me was that the old shop was crammed full with stuff and looked more like a deli you’d find in deepest France. There was an old style character to it. The cheese counter in the new shop looks like it could be a Waitrose store. Whilst I wish them lots of luck and future custom, I feel I won’t venture here again, the experience of shopping for nice food is too important to me and no longer appeals to me at the new shop.
