Banh Banh in Southwark

This restaurant has become a favourite of ours, and we’ve visited multiple times. The food is consistently tasty and vibrant, especially the papaya salad and the grilled pork with vermicelli – both are must-tries. The portions are generous, which we appreciate. The atmosphere of the place adds to the experience, making it a spot we’re happy to return to again and again. It’s hard to find anything to complain about here. It’s our go-to local restaurant, and we plan to keep coming back.

Even though I believe this restaurant to be a one off it does feel a little more like a chain. The seats aren’t massively comfortable, I guess to encourage you not to linger. However, the overall vibe of the place is nice, and the music was really good. Food was mostly excellent, and never less than good, and cocktails were really well made. Highlights for me were chicken wings and the prawn pancakes. Small menu, which I approve of - do a few things and do them well! For two of you I’d advise three small sharing plates and one small sharing plate. We had that combo, and two cocktails each, and the bill came to £80 which is not bad for this increasingly trendy neck of the woods.

I called up to order a vegan noodle soup, I thought it had coconut in, lady on phone repeated a Vietnamese name which I could barely hear, I said ok. Went to pick up, it was not a noodle soup but they wouldn’t exchange for the ‘vegan noodle soup’ I requested on the phone. Disappointed by this lack of goodwill and clearly a misunderstanding on both parts. will not be visiting this local establishment again.

We had summer rolls, grilled aubergines and papaya salad as starters - large prawns in the rolls. Could do with more lime juice, fish sauce and chilli in the salad. Beef pho - decent quantity of sliced beef but very diluted stock - the stock is the most important element in any pho! The pork patties with the cold rice noodles were dry, tough and burnt! Good amount of salads in the cold noodles but lack savouriness from little fish sauce, lime juice and chilli. After all the past reviews - disappointment. Friendly service from staff and gave feedback so hope it reaches the chef.

We ordered delivery from BB. I found the food very tasty and well prepared, especially the pork dishes and spring rolls. Well done.

Finally made our long overdue visit here for a birthday meal and it was well worth the wait. Sevice was very attentive and speedy and the food was fantastic. Highlight was the generous serving of chicken wings. We just about stuck to the advice to order three to five dishes and I doubt we would have been able to have much more. Look forward to returning to try the rest of the menu.

I've been 3 times now on meat-free Mondays and have loved it every time. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere, good food and tasty cocktails. Not been on other days of the week so can't comment on meat dishes, but we've been as a couple then with two different sets of people and has been a great night every time. Really enjoyable.

We had such a nice time at Banh Banh, we walked in without booking and they got us a table straight away. The service was super fast and friendly, we had everything we needed at all times. The aubergine, prawn summer rolls, the yellow curry and fried tofu and crepe caramel were all amazing.

Keep coming back to Banh Banh because the food (and cocktails) are so delicious, the staff are so warm and helpful, and it offers more choices for vegans and vegetarians than you can eat in one meal, which is a rare thing, even now. We always enjoyed Banh Banh as a family when we could go in person. Now it's our first choice for picking up a reliably exquisite takeaway - most recently to celebrate a birthday.

I never write trip advisor reviews, however, this was the worst Vietnamese / restaurant I’ve ever visited. The food was bland - chicken wings were dry. The shrimp pancakes fall apart and came with a side of “lettuce leaves” which looked like stingy nettles. Not even lettuce! The one chicken dish came and looked so awful, neither myself or my partner touched it. To make matters worse, I don’t eat pork for religious reasons and made the waitress aware that neither myself or partner eat it. I went for what I was told was the tofu option, only to be given pork. Which I didn’t realise until the receipt came. This is disgraceful customer service! I made the owner aware of the error, paid the bill and left. Don’t visit this restaurant. Save your Monday and go to Brixton village, better yet, cook yourself as will test much better than this rubbish.

Went on a Friday night, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good for a date. Portions were big and they provided extra chillis which I asked for to go with my pho. Had choc sorbet for dessert which was tasty.

I have recently moved to the area and took my mum and dad who were visiting. We had the pancakes and the pho and a selection of starters. All of the dishes were absolutely incredible and really different to any other restaurant I have been to. It was also just the right amount of food. The staff really went out of their way to provide brilliant service and the restaurant itself is done up really nicely. Was also very reasonably priced and a lot cheaper than other restaurants in the area. No complaints from anyone we will definitely go again.
