Bangla Cottage | Best Indian Restaurant in Tipton in Sandwell

Like the previous reviewer, I too have been charged for an online order that did not go through (since discovering the place has closed!). After waiting for 5 minutes, I realised the order was not going through. I never received a confirmation email either, so assumed that was that. However, I have been charged for the order. This happened last night and I now see the link to the website has been removed from Google. I ask that the owners (old or new) please contact me to arrange a refund.

WARNING!! SCAM!! This place has taken my money through there website for a order and they are shut down!! SCAM DO NOT USE!!!!! Now I'm out of pocket for about £50 I can't believe google are letting people operate doing this..... Regardless what the owner has said underneath me, they have taken the money out my bank, it's not pending nomore, also there website is still operating and still taking orders to take money from OTHER PEOPLE..... THIS IS DISGUSTING

Been using Bangla for 12 months and it was my favourite Indian to go to. Sadly the owner has recently sold and moved on so don't know what the new owner and food will be like

Great decor, service, and quality of food, which equals - if not betters - the standards set by the other Black Country 'greats' of Zahra Spice, (Tipton), Little Bangla (Langley), and Indulgence (Blackheath). An excellent restaurant where quality is always paramount.

Would not recommend this place at all, they increased the price of their curry and give you less chicken, how does that make sense? When I called up to complain the guy didn't apologise and said to order elsewhere. Rude and arrogant, they don't deserve the business. Charging customers more for smaller portions is unacceptable. Avoid!

I can not recommend this place enough , I have never eaten food as nice as I have here , it's a hidden gem , never had a bad meal and I eat here once a week without fail

Dined in on a weekday and was very quiet but the man was so friendly and the food delicious. My new go to place in the area.

Dined here on the 15/2/23 at a birthday day celebration. Firstly the starter wasn’t to bad but I’ve had much better but the main course not nice it was only luke warm when I raised concern was offered for it to be warmed up which I dont think was appropriate no offer of another fresh cooked meal no apology no refund offered I didn’t eat it I paid and left won’t be returning and won’t be recommending this place to anyone. Very disappointed

Eaten here for years even through covid, never no complaints but a had a delivery tonight unfortunately tasteless no spice or flavour at all, very disappointed

I have dined in this place since they have opened 4 years ago we moved from major curry to here as the service was good food was nice from kobir it went to the young lad now it’s some tall guy and some short bald guy both who have no common sense don’t know what they are doing the food is not good everything comes cold half cooked or even RAW !!! I’m disappointed I don’t know where all the old people have gone but I heard they all have left so I guess that’s why it’s gone so rubbish SO EVERYONE AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT AND GO TO MAJOR CURRY SERVICE AND FOOD 100X BETTER !!!! Gone down hill and charging extortionate prices for everything and making silly excuses like it takes long for this curry to be made 😂 PATHETIC !!! (Update and response) you are not speaking truth

I have eaten from here about four times so far being a new customer (spending about £30+) I was very happy however the second order The Rice come Half filled. When rang up they said they will give us one free next time then when ordering again the 3rd time They said food will be ready in 15 minutes for collection however I was waiting inside when I arrived for 45 minutes on top of the 15 minutes initially they only apologised for the wait. They told me a cheaper price over the phone then a higher price when I turned up. Then when I finally got back my food was cold my partners wasn’t as they said King prawn curry takes longer to make. They didn’t try to compensate for my wait Just apologised it’s a shame really because there food was normally really nice. My starters was cold and my main was cold too and the chicken tikka didn’t look cooked fully. I do reviews on a lot of places… for reasons like this.

This is a very restaurant with very nice atmosphere. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is top notch. We went here after work but definitely come back for a date-dinner. Totally recommend. Very affordable too. Great job guys!

Travelled to see friends for the weekend and they took us to the Bangla Cottage for dinner. What a great choice. The food was amazing we started with complimentary poppadoms, I had the seabass which was so good my husband had the chicken karahi with mushroom pilau which came on a sizzling dish. Can't believe how cheap it was for all the food we had. Under £50 for four people and we got to take our own alcohol which was a bonus. Lovely attentive staff too, highly recommended if your in the area give this restaurant a visit.

I order from here every so often and guys here treat me like family which is lovely. Food is worth an award and the staff are friendly big up kobir and the young fella. Im due a re visit to cause some damage and try out more things

Bangla Cottage is one of the highest rated curry houses in the area. This place is bring your own alcohol. Cheap off license next door if needed. Good Points: * Food was of excellent quality. Authentic and rich in flavour. * Good value for money with curry dishes starting from £6.95 * We were given a free starter platter and desserts for the wait encountered. * The hosts were friendly in their manner. * Portion sizing of food was generous. Bad Points: * Service was very slow. Only 3 tables on cover on a Friday night and yet it took 30-45 minutes for any food orders to come. The host forget our drinks order on several occasions. Observations showed them stood around at the bar talking and dealing with delivery drivers and collection orders to which these were delayed also. I had seen them offer a drink to these customers on the wait. With such quiet trade, this wait was unacceptable. * Small parts of our order were missing. Had to prompt to get missing items. * Cheese naan was simply naan with sprinkled cheese on top. It was not melted or cooked wihtin the naan like most restaurants. Overall we would be hesitant to visit again based on the experience we had on a quiet Friday night.

I will only review the food I had - the Tandoori mixed grill. Firstly overpriced for what it is, there are hundred of places across Tipton/wednesbury to offer a much better dish. I called and placed an order, to be told it would be 12 minutes for collection. Arrived 15 mins later, made the payment and then was told they make the food fresh for the customer. 15 minutes later after waiting in the restaurant, I got the food. I was told they only make the food fresh when the customer arrives. More like wait for you to pay, then we’ll make the food - which is fair play, given the area they operate in. Lol So the little bit of shrivelled up seesh kebab tasted like it would have been fresh a few days ago - and very salty. The prawn was over cooked, perhaps it was poor quality king prawn. The lamb was nice, chicken tikka was ok - nothing special. It was cooked, which is the main thing. So positive, garlic naan bread was nice and soft and onions with the ‘mixed grill’ were nice. That’s why I gave it 2 stars. Stingy with the sauce and salad so can’t really comment as there was very little of it. Overall, disappointing mixed grill, but the chef knows how to make a good naan and fried onion. Was £10 and in my opinion, £4 overpriced.

We have been using the Bangla Cottage for over 12 months now and have to be honest, it is the best Indian food around. We have tried many take aways but non compare to this. I have tried numerous currys as well as the deep fried naan and starters. The staff are always polite over the phone and never rush you and always polite when they deliver it. If your looking for good quality tasty food I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and advise you try it. It always comes hot, as in heat hot, our food has never been delivered from the restaurant cold. I have never eaten in at the restaurant but I would imagine the service is second to none. Thanks guys keep up the good work. 👍

Food is normally very nice from here but had a meal delivered today and it was very disappointing.the curry was really salty the rice tasted like it had been reheated and also the popadoms were greasy,a real let down from you guy's today.it wasn't ordered in my name

Excellent food . Have a very high spice tolerance so was looking for something spicy. Had the Chicken Sashlik and Lamb Naga both of which were incredible . It’s not the run of the mill Indian food - it was unique , flavourful and just absolutely scrumptious . Definitely reasonably priced and impeccable service

Excellent food and service. Good menu with a wide variety of dishes for all tastes. I had the Tandoori mix biryani which was very very nice Unlicensed so take you're own drinks but there's a couple of offies nearby, which is handy. Recommended.

This was the family's first time eating Bangladeshi/Indian food and this resturant made a great impression! Their manners, service and standards were impeccable. There were a variety of delicious dishes, ranging from spicy to children classics - making it sutable for the whole family. I would definitley recommend this to anybody, without a shadow of a doubt.

Lovely meal. Two dishes, both excellent. Nice people. Good service. Highly recommended. No licence, but you can buy a beer to drink with your meal from the shop next door which has a good selection.

Been here just now lovely service, came with my family for my birthday, the food was so fresh and tasty enjoyed every meal kids were happy very friendly. Couldn’t fault them. Must try and believe me I’ve tried other Bangladeshi food before and this one was by far the best!! Highly recommend plus kid friendly menu too.

Booked a table for me and my partner. Whilst in the resturant we were waiting stupidly long times for service. Once seated we had to wait 20 mins to order our starter and a drink (which were only cans of pop tipped into a glass, around £3 for ONE can) After our starter which was nice we had to wait around 30 mins to order our food then another 30 mins for it to come. We arrived at 7pm but didnt leave until 10pm, this was the wait times even though there were only 3 tables in there, personally I felt they concentrated more on deliveries than their actual customers inside.

First time eating in the restaurant after a whole year of ordeing their take aways, and my god it was even better! The food was amazing. Staff were so friendly, the restaurant owner and our server Riz. We will definitely be back soon now lock down is easing. Would 100000% recommend. Best Indian restaurant in the area 😊 thank you guys for being so consistently amazing.

We first ate here 4 years ago and were so impressed that we planned our Canal holiday around visiting again this year. It has changed hands but ee were NOT disappointed... If anything it was even better. .. Absolutely wonderful food.... So flavourful.... Great service as well.. Don't serve alcohol but byo is fine and there is an off licence next door.

We use Bangla Cottage regularly, quality of the food is excellent and never had a bad meal, delivery service is very efficient.

Have been going to Bangla Cottage for a long time and mostly always enjoyed however lately (past 3 orders) have found they are not following requests made on the telephone which ends up with a meal not being enjoyed by the recipient. If the notes cannot be followed then please confirm on the call and we can change what we are ordering!!!

Started using Bangla Cottage for take outs over lockdown to try somewhere different and haven’t gone anywhere else since. Ate in the restaurant for the first time the other week and the excellent food and service continued. Never a problem either if you fancy something different and want to go off menu or have a dish adjusted to your preferences. Five star curry house right here!

This place is legit ! It’s a gem of an restaurant, it’s a throwback to a time before most Indian restaurants use a stock sauce, you order different dishes here you get different sauces (wow...I know ) each dish we’ve tried has a depth of flavour, you just know the chef has a deep understanding of spices used in Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine ! The food is well balanced and richly spiced to perfection, nothing bland here ! I have only received excellent service both eating in or home delivery, the guys bend over backwards to accommodate your needs and are never overbearing in service. I’ve been eating Asian cuisine for 45 years and can tell you, you will travel a long way from Tipton to find a better curry than the chef is producing, keep up the good work guys 👍👍

Just had a really nice meal at the Bangla Cottage. Very friendly staff who were fine with our kids being kids. COVID precautions all in place. We don't get to go out much and this meal topped off a really nice day well.
