The place is decorated nicely but the service is not the greatest. I didnt feel welcomed there. Very small portions for main dish, i left half portion of the rice because no more curry was left to eat it with. The taste was so so, nothing special.

The reviews about this place were not exclusively positive, but we decided to trust the ratings and were not disappointed: it was fine, and mostly actually quite good. The portions are such that one starter and one main pp will probably not fill you up completely, but the prices are such that you should be fine to order a bit more and share. We went with a table full of starters and then 1 main each and were fine. The chicken satay, pork skewers and Tom Yam Gung were all very good, the fish cakes were not bad but unspectacular. The garlic and black pepper beef was fine, even if it was a bit sweeter than I would have imagined. The chicken with broccoli in oyster sauce was of similar quality. All in all the experience was fine and absolutely correct in terms of value for money. Not the finest Thai I have ever had, but quite authentic. Those who have spent more time in Thailand, like I have, will remember that not every restaurant there offers fine dining either, and this one is simply a good mid-range option.

Pity they are moving from this location, but wherever they go, the food will be worth it. The restaurant makes you feel like you did escape to Bangkok, and the steaming bowls of rice and other items arrive quickly. The spring rolls are a must, and the stir fry options are hard to choose from.

This is our best decision, to chose this restaurant. We craved for thai food, and we saw this restaurant, with a quite good review. Our expectation was low, but the food just AMAZED us!! This restaurant truly deserve 5 star rating, i dont lie!! This is the best thai restaurant in UK so far (i’ve been to more than 7 in different cities) The richness of the flavour made me forget that im in UK, its truly Thai flavour. Very very rich and satisfying!! We tried coconut soup (must try), tamarind fish and stir fry beef. I will go back for sure. I cant. Move on from this restaurant. The staff is also very friendly and nice. highly recommended!!❤️❤️❤️

Recommended Seafood Pak Thai, Vegetarian Green Curry rice, fried rice and duck noodles. All good. We're there in the weekday and there is Lunch menu to select that make the price reasonable. Remember to check the bill in details, they count one of the dish twice that doesn't seem to be a mistake to me.

From the moment we put our foot through the door, they were very welcoming. I didn’t have to even provide my name as they knew who I was and where I’d be sitting. I had asked for a good table as it was a special evening, and we really got the best table. I had never been here but went off the reviews online and I wish I had come there before. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere inside also. The service was outstanding and the waiter and waitress were very good. They were very friendly and lovely towards us. I really felt like we were VIP, The starter was really tasty and the food we ordered thereafter also not only looked amazing on the beautiful crockery but also tasted delicious. The food really was full of flavour. All of us were happy with our dishes. They checked on us a few times. I was saddened to hear they have to move location because the setting for this restaurant and the inside of the restaurant is do fitting to their food. The manager also came to us and we thanked her for the outstanding food and service. We really had such a lovely evening. We left with lots of smiles. An amazing evening! Thank you!

Went in with a friend yesterday. We both ordered dishes with tofu and then much much later on (when the food was about to be served) were informed that they didn't have much tofu left so I didn't get any with my dish. They should have told us this when we ordered and not 20 minutes later, otherwise we would have gone somewhere else. Because my dish didn't have any tofu on it, it was pretty sparse (a few bits of vegetables and not much else). I also felt like the restaurant didn't take ownership of the situation and didn't seem that apologetic. I also think it's bad to run out of your one vegan protein option (literally go buy some tofu down the street at the Sainsbury's). The restaurant was pretty empty, so I don't think they had a great excuse for such poor service. The restaurant does otherwise have a nice vibe though, has some nice furniture etc.

Good Thai cuisine with informal service served in an amazing Thai-inspired barn of a reataurant. The food is well presented. In the evening you can park at the door at Oxford’s Council’s extortionate rate of £6.30! Our 2 course meal for 2 with a bottle of Prosecco plus a bottle of decent red cost us £110.00. An enjoyable evening.

Bangkok House was DELICIOUS!!! This Thai restaurant was definitely a good choice. I had dumplings for the first time and it went down really well. I was a bit sceptical about it at first but I thought, "yeaaaaah, why not?" and it turned out to be a very good starter. For the main, I ended up going with noodles and prawns and that was what topped it for me. Honestly, the portion of noodles was actually more than I expected and I was definitely satisfied with it. To top it all off, I had a lemon iced tea to drink and it was very chilled. I'm usually down for a peach but lemon was the next best thing. The waiters were very welcoming and ready to serve. 5/5 ratings for me. I will definitely like to come back here. My partner and I were very fully by the time we left the restaurant. Thank you Bangkok House!!

Good food as always but the service did disappoint me a lot today. I’ve been in Oxford for more than 4 years and no need to talk about thai food, I’ve been in this restaurant for dinner for uncountable times. My families are visiting me this week and this is their first visit since I’ve been in Oxford, they fancied some asian food so I took them to here. I am a hundred percent sure that I ordered coconut rice when placing the order, but the rice came to us did not have the coconut smell at all when I scooped it out so I asked another girl - she realised that it is jasmine rice so offer to swap the rice for us. But the girl who placed our order came out from the kitchen and keep saying to me that “you ordered jasmine rice with me” “no, you ordered jasmine rice” “oh well anyways” with an offensive smile like we are trying to take any advantage? I am SOOOOO sure that I definitely ordered coconut rice cus I ONLY ORDER COCONUT RICE IN THAI RESTAURANTS and my memory was SOOOO CLEAR AND SURE ON THAT. I really can’t accept her ridiculous attitude on this like who the fxxk ordering this much in your restaurant would wanna take advantage on this fxxking bit of rice???? I just want my family to have the great, right, coconut rice I recommended!!!!!! Plut she actually never look up on me but only on her notepad when writting down my order and never doublecheck the order with me so how the fxxk could she behave like there’s nothing wrong with herself? She is the one who placed my order wrong she is the one who placed my order wrong she is the one who placed my order wrong okayyyyy????!!!!! Btw she should say thank you to my kind families who told me not to bother on this and let me still pay the service fee - I would not just let this go this easily if it’s only me and my friends having dinner here today:)

I’ve worked in Thailand and enjoyed the cuisine there, but too many Thai restaurants in the UK serve food which is excessively spiced. I like chilli, but also like to taste the complex flavours. The price of the selection of 5 Thai starters for two was very over-priced for what we got and the portion size was very small - cost about £18!). The main dishes were nice (pad thai prawn noodles and e-sahn on the thrown, the latter was about £19). The service wasn't rude, but just the bare minimum and there was a service charge for that. This is a takeaway review. We ordered a family (4 adults) Thai takeaway. Thought it was expensive (1 soup, 1 prawn toast, I spring rolls, 4 mains + 2 rice dishes) at over £84 including a pre-set delivery charge and another service charge. I don't mind paying for good food/value, but when you don't get it at this kind of price, something needs to be said. The hot & sour soup was tiny (in a tiny plastic bowl with a few prawns and ting mushrooms swimming around in spicy water...no substance). The prawn toasts and spring rolls were a joke - microscopic portions, could have fitted both in a small teacup. While main courses were tasty enough, we were still starving afterwards as the portions are so small. Very very poor value for money. No problems with the Deliveroo rider delivery, but won't be using this place again!

Positives are the building and decor, but this suggests a much more premium experience than it actually delivers. My memory of this place (admittedly from many years ago), that it was a cut above the average, and a place you might go for a special occassion. However the attractive the building however, the food is pretty standard Thai fare. Blandish starters come with the tiniest portions of sauce I've ever seen. The main courses were better (actually home cooked unlike the pre-bought frozen starters) and we enjoyed those a lot. The service is a bit weird, well, quite poor really. You have to work quite hard to get staff attention who seem more concerned with moving you on quickly (trying to clear dishes before they are finished, let alone the whole meal) and chatting to one another. We asked for our remaining food to be packed up for take home, for which we were presented with some tupperware boxes and told to do it ourselves at the table! Not quite the end we had in mind for our son's 16th birthday. Won't be hurrying back.

During a course at Oxford University, I was looking for restaurants and found a Thai restaurant. I will mention that I have been to Thailand and I really like the type of food. I chose to go to this restaurant and said I would try it, after looking at a rich and wide menu. I went to the restaurant alone because I wanted some peace. I arrived at the restaurant, it wasn't full, it was quiet, it wasn't noisy, there were several tables with people who each had their own and who were talking calmly and peacefully. I should mention that the waiters at the restaurant are Thai and received me with a warm welcome, something that deepened my experience at the restaurant. I ordered an appetizer of spring rolls-vegetables, a really tasty and highly recommended dish, the fried vase with vegetables. After that I ordered a green curry with tofu and white rice - it was simple and wow and there is nothing to add. After that I was a bit hungry and ordered Pad Thai. I should mention that the portion is large and I didn't finish it because I was a little hungry, a super tasty dish. The dishes in the restaurant left a good taste in my mouth, I had a lot of fun, I told them at the end that my experience was like I was sitting in a restaurant in Thailand. I strongly recommend anyone who comes to the Oxford area and wants Thai food to go only to this restaurant, it's very tasty, really worth it and not expensive, depending on what you get!! I enjoyed very much.

We ordered the Green Curry plus an off menu rice dish which they happily made for us, which was a great touch. The food was incredible. We've eaten at plenty of Thai restaurants, and this is on par with the best. I understand everyone has good/bad days, but I'd highly recommend the food and service here. I love this place. The food is just so good, it's easily my favourite Thai restaurant in Oxford. Get the Choo Chee curry and you won't be disappointed, the depth of flavour is incredible. Make sure you order 1 portion of rice per person though, this isn't a restaurant where you get 13 tons of rice in each serving. The decoration of the restaurant is really nice too with wood carvings everywhere and super ornate tables. Just go there, it's the best.

I believe it must be good and authentic in the past. However, it is just average for tonight. There are original tastes went missing - fresh Thai round eggplants and lemon grasses. Overall, the presentation isn't attractive to stir up my appetite. I feel everyone there is losing their passion to make authentic Thai cuisine. It is just another day for cooking. Sasi's Thai at Covered Market is definitely a much better choice.

Absolutely delicious really authentic experience too! Only one thing Is they dropped the tilapia off the choo chee and replaced it with salmon, so not quite the same and not crunch as they would lightly fry the tilapia. I asked if we could swap the salmon for tilapia as there were other dishes with tilapia, but was told no. But otherwise very nice! Xx

The food is good, and the environment is also nice. However, the staff attitude needs improvement.

This is a Thai restaurant operating in Oxford in United Kingdom. It has a nice cosy setup which created a nice dining ambience. Enjoyed their Stir Fried Fresh Chilli, Basil & Pork and Raw Seasoned Prawns dishes. Both dishes are recommended. Their Prawns On Toasts is another recommendation. Their food portions are reasonable. Prices are reasonable. Cash and card payments are accepted. Cleanliness is good. Service is fast and professional. Public washrooms are available within the restaurant. Handicapped patrons on wheelchairs can patronize this restaurant easily.

The fishy smell of the meat was so strong that I spit it out immediately after taking one bite. Bad review! The service attitude of the white-haired old lady is very poor!

The worst Thai food I have ever had! The old lady is rude. The meat in the soup smells really disgusting.

Complacent, miserable staff and slow. Sat for an hour waiting for mediocre and over spiced food An utterly forgettable experience

Excellent Thai food restaurant with friendly staff. Thank you S, PO and Gan for you great customer service. Really appreciate your help to fit my family in even though the booking was already full, and your amazing efficiency in serving the food so that we could enjoy the food without worry about missing the train. Will definitely come again if visiting Oxford.

Distinctly average. I saw all the rave reviews and genuinely don’t get it. We tried to ask a staff member about particular dishes and he just barked “number” at us to order from the menu. The food was incredibly over salted and the beef dish was tough. It was a busy Friday night but there are plenty of better places to eat. It’s a nice quirky building but not worth all the hype.

Suki-Yaki noodles were really amazing and tasty. Absolutely loved the texture of the noodles and taste! The soup of Yen Tah Fu was very warm and flavourful as well. The noodles could be more cooked so that it is less tough, but overall a very tasty and heartwarming meal. Staff were very friendly and cheerful. Overall a decent and affordable place to have a Thai meal. Would have been perfect is serving portions were slightly bigger. Edit: went a second time to try their curry. The duck red curry and the fried fish curry were both super tasty! Absolutely loved it.
