Angrid Thai Canteen in Oxford

Thai food is delicious. The food is enough to make you miss Thailand quite a bit. big dishes There are enough chili peppers to be spicy. The shop is open and not crowded. But this service is not Thai style. Delicious roast duck red curry Smell the curry paste. The coconut milk is thick and not clear. The duck meat is not curry and has no odor. The duck meat is soft and the rice is hot and soft. Delicious. The dry sukiyaki was fragrant and delicious. It was a little spicy and delicious.

It's the worst service ever! I wasn't the only customer who wasn't happy with the food or the service! Staff were incredibly rude and dismissive. The food awful! If there was a 0 I would put that! Never had such a bad eating out experience.

Amazing food Thai food, probably the best in Oxford as someone who has been to Thailand a few times I would say this is the most authentic. Small local business which adds a nice familial touch with very filling portions at very affordable prices! Chicken rice on Thursdays is too die for!

Had a really nice dinner for 2 here last night needed something quick b4 attending the theatre and we decided to give this place a go after walking past many times before. The food and service was fantastic and you must give this place a try.

This is my go-to for lunch when I’m in town. I am probably their best customer for sukiyaki and a beer… they got so used to me at one point that they would just ask “sukiyaki?” and start throwing ingredients into the wok. Prices have crept up over the last 18 months, but the food is delicious and the decor pleasingly simple. I shall be back… a lot.

BEST THAI RESTAURANT IN THE UK!!! If Angrid thai has no fans I am dead. I have never had better. even in THAILAND its a challenge to find food this good. Cult favourite among me and my friends. EVERYTHING we have ever tasted here is immaculate. the CRISPY TAMARIND DUCK will change your life!!! even basic stuff like PAD THAI and GREEN CURRY blows our socks off!! Had a friend graduate from uni here and go back to hong kong.. and ask if I could bring them Angrid Thai takeaway as a souvenir. heres a recent photo of green curry. the smashingest bashingest tofu curry ive ever had.

Very impressed with the service and tasty food! We were in a rush to have something to eat 45 minutes before a musical at the New Theatre. We found this place randomly and thought we would give it a go. I ordered a prawn tom yum and a cashew chicken stir-fry with rice. These came out very quickly, all ingredients were fresh and reminiscent of the authentic Thai cuisine we indulged in while visiting Phuket earlier this year. Would thoroughly recommend!

Good place for groups. The pad thai noodle dish is gluten free, as are all the curry options. The staff are very friendly.

Stumbled on this place on the way to the bus station and stopped for a quick bite. The Pad Thai there was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The portion size was good and the service was very quick and attentive. Would definitely go back and recommend.

The food is good, but the staff's manners are terrible. A female staff member raised her voice and gave us dirty looks while we were placing our order. I have to say, this is the worst dining experience I've ever had in the UK. We don't expect friendliness, but yelling at customers is unacceptable. Please consider avoiding this place, or opt for delivery instead.

Tamarind duck and pineapple rice are two favourites of mine here. Staff are friendly and food service is really fast. Decor is a little bland/ dated but don't let that put you off! Drinks are unfortunately very expensive.

Food: Great street food styled Thai dishes at reasonable price points. Service & atmosphere: Helpful and relaxed staff. I must admit I initially thought this was a tourist trap due to its proximity to the bus station and the rather shabby front. It was actually quite tasty and great for meeting a friend!

Super clean and relaxing atmosphere. Very fast (less than 5 mins.!) and polite service. The food is excellent. Would assign 6 stars if possible.

Got a chefs special pork dish and it was really lovely! The staff were nice and once you come inside it is a nice environment! However I feel that the outside of the shop is letting them down. From the outside it is not really selling the food and it felt more of a takeaway place then a nice sit down meal. The price is better than other locations but the portion was quite small for singapore noodles. Our plates were left empty for a while as well even when there were not many other customers so we didnt really felt like staying for a dessert. Nice place for an affordable food and good thai tea!

Beautiful meal and really good drinks as well - we had the spicy Thai noodles and the chef’s special pork, plus a milk tea, and everything was superb. Very authentic and would happily recommend to friends

This place serves good Thai food. Their pork knuckle dish was good as well as their pork ribs as an appetizer. I was craving for Thai basil leaves and they did not disappoint! The staff are super friendly and smiley!

I popped in for the first time in ages. I chose the duck with rice. The portion size was adequate and the service was very friendly and welcoming. All the ingredients tasted fresh and delicious. I also had a green tea which I thought at £3.50 was rather expensive. Over all it was a lovely experience.

I recently visited Angrid Thai Restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. I wanted to share my review with you to shed light on the treatment my friend and I received during our visit. Upon entering the restaurant, my friend and I were carrying large backpacks. As the seating area was limited, I placed one of my backpacks on the neighboring seat after obtaining the customer's agreement to do so. However, to my surprise, one of the middle-aged ladies working at the restaurant suddenly approached me and insisted that my bag should not be there. This left me confused as to why there was a problem with placing my bag on the seat when the adjacent customer had no issue with it. In response to the lady's request, I promptly moved my bag and placed it on the floor next to me. Despite my efforts to accommodate their request, she remained unhappy with the situation. During her serving duties, she nearly stepped on my bag, and without my authorization, she grabbed it and placed it underneath a desk that was visibly dirty and covered in oil. I found this action both disrespectful and disappointing. The entire experience left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. It is disheartening to be treated poorly as a customer, especially when I had made a genuine effort to comply with their request. The unprofessional behavior of the middle-aged lady and the unsanitary condition under the desk only added to my disappointment. Based on this experience, I have made the decision not to return to Angrid Thai Restaurant. As a customer, I believe that proper treatment and hygiene should be a priority in any establishment. I hope that by sharing my review, the restaurant management can address these issues and ensure that future customers do not encounter similar problems. Ordered the Thai green curry, duck basil, chicken and garlic and an egg noodle dish with pork. Very satisfied with the service , food was good quality with decent portion sizes and very affordable to feed a large family after a long day in Oxford!

Cashew Nut Fried Rice with beef was very delicious. I also had the spring rolls which were also very delicious. The fried rice was a bit spicy but very tasty and our meals came quite quickly.

Decent Thai food; portions are disappointing and absolutely tiny though, feels like you get half of what you’re paying for. Spiciness feels quite toned down compared to what you’d expect, but then again that may be a plus for some people. Also, menu doesn’t have the authentic names of dishes, which is very weird and also confusing when you’re looking through it - not sure why they’ve done it like that, gives a very inauthentic vibe to the place. They also never told us about the student discount despite us clearly being students; feels like they’re either just being cheap or poor customer service.

I think the food would have been quite nice if it wasn't burnt. Was still ok though.

Possibly my favourite place to eat as the food comes quickly, is always hot and is always of the same quality. The staff are really friendly and the menu is not too expensive. This is not a place to stay and smooch and they don't sell afters. Highlights would be their cold, sweet tea. Anything on the menu is good to eat. They have a small selection of alcoholic drinks. The vibe is really 'eat and go' which is what we are mainly looking for.

Good food, low prices, friendly service.

Was here with a friend. Neither of us eat meat. I tried their pad thai with vegetables which uses thin-ish flat rice noodles. Subtly delicious, not overpowering. A solid 9 out of 11. My friend had another flat rice noodles which I think he enjoyed as well. Friend has already asked his partner to go with him next time. Customer service was friendly and engaging. Felt grateful when we returned not long for my forgetful friend's backpack, which was kept behind the counter. The restaurant front may not particularly stand out, perhaps neither does the menu, but I'd highly recommend.

Stumbled upon a rather authentic Thai restaurant. Thai Ice Tea tasted just like what I had in Bangkok. Love it! Reminds me of Thailand. The pineapple fried rice with pork was delicious but could do with some cashew nuts. Tom yum soup with prawns (5 big prawns) was awesome with the sour and spicy but the spicy level was too low for me (probably can turn up the heat a bit more. I’m guessing the toned down spicy level is to accommodate to local palate). Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who misses some good Thai food. I’ll come back to try other dishes too! Service was quick and staffs were friendly.

This is the only restaurant opens till 23 in central oxford. Very nice Thai street food, very local taste, big portion, and price is not too bad. They only increased 2 pounds in general for one dish since 2015 to now. I used to have dinner 3 times a week there between 2015 to 2017. Very friendly staff, nice food. If you want to try real Thai food, go to this place.

Good location right next to Gloucester Green. Ample seating space. Quantity is sufficient. Taste is all right. It's not the cheapest option in Oxford, but not too rough on pockets either.

Not bad. We had Singapore noodles and squid three tastes. Both were excessively sweet but otherwise good. Friendly staff. Next time i will request reduced sugar.

Always on the lookout for a place that follows through on items marked “spicy”. 🌶️ Got the spicy Thai noodles with tofu. So good. Warm enough to thaw my cold feet but not so hot my tongue went numb. Perfect! Huge portion as well couldn’t finish it. If I lived nearby I’d have taken the rest home for lunch tomorrow.

Love this place for chats with friends. The Pad Si Lew is my fav but I tried the cashew duck last time and it was yummy too- everything kind of tastes the same though. It’s like they have The Sauce in the back that they use for everything but fair enough cause it’s great.

Pad Thai is a little strange overall; but what’s most important, prawns taste no good :(

A solid, reliable place for warm, comforting food at reliable prices for many years now. Visited after what has been many years since my student days, and was very glad to find the food as comforting as I remember it!

The food was good but not outstanding, a bit bland. There is only one kind of beer.

Very large portions, and the Thai iced tea is amazing! One of the best spots for students (and non-students) in Oxford. This time I had the spicy bean curd, 10/10 would recommend!

We had a bus to catch and staff was super committed to making sure our food came as fast as possible. We were really happy how they cared about our situation. Food was great as well!

Horrendous. The manager yelled at my autistic mother after she complained about the quality of food. My mum said she couldn’t hear the woman and the manager began to tease and taunt my mother while she was clearly distressed. The rudest owner possibly I’ve ever met. The fact she openly bullied and humiliated my mother in public was bad enough but then she insisted on us paying full price despite how horrendous the quality of the food was and how incredible frightful the service was. Angrid? More like angry :/

Seems basic and simple. Food quality reminded me of a microwave meal. But all the staff were smiling, interactive and helpful

We ordered and the food took quite a while to come out, but when it did come out they gave one dish to another table. After realizing the mistake, they took the dish and tried to give it to us after the other person had been eating it. Then, they took it back and tried to give it to us again, this still being the one the other person ate off of. Finally, they reheated the dish and brought it back out a third time, but it had visibly less food since the other person had eaten off of it. Overall, awful customer service.

As a family of 5 we visited this place just by stumbling upon it, but it was superb. Friendly and fast service and well priced. The food was loved by all five of us and not one plate had anything left on it. Suitable for all and the vegetarian of the group had a great selection and also enjoyed, not only the main but the sides ordered too.

I really can be biased but this is my favourite milk tea drink in town so far. 10% off for student discount and food is delicious! Have been here quite often and was never disappointed when trying something new. Fried rice is my go-to comfort food :)

OMG. The most authentic Thai food in the UK!!! The food we ordered were all amazing. I especially recommend their papaya salad, pad thai and green curry. You won't regret it!

We just walked along the street looking for somewhere and stumbled upon this place - well exceeded expectations. I had the cashew chicken and my girlfriend had the papaya salad. Both were delicious. The Thai iced tea was also so good (very sweet though so don’t order if you don’t like that). All in all, really delicious and we were disappointed to see that other, more average, chains were way more busy.

Worst food I have had in my life!!!It wasn’t even close to Thai food.

I may have visited them on a wrong day. The service was excellent but the food was horrendous. The food tasted about the same quality as a microwave ready meal from Aldi or Tesco. Specially disappointing given that I has paid £18 for a main dish, side and a drink.

During my three-year degree in Oxford, I tried all of the Thai restaurants in central Oxford. Angrid Thai is far and away the best. Their food is fresh, beautifully presented, affordable, and authentic. The staff are friendly, polite, and efficient. I cannot recommend this restaurant more! They kept me very well fed for three years!

We ordered dumpling, black pepper and garlic beef, pad thai, thai sew and ribs. Ribs are the legend, you will regret if you don't try, I will 100% come back to Oxford just for the ribs.

Customer service is excellent and food was out fast BUT the food was fairly disappointing. I ordered the Beef Chili it was bland, lack of flavour and their chili paste has too much fish sauce very overpowering.
