We were visiting the NEC for the day and staying in the town over night, we walked in without a reservation around 8pm and they were packed. Luckily they were able to find us a table after a little wait. The menu is extensive and tempting, we opted for just popadoms and main courses, which was a good move considering the sizes of the main portions are crazy! They are huge. The food was hot when served and remained the same whilst we were eating. The flavours were incredible and it was one of the nicest curry’s we have had for a very long time. The service was a little slow, but they were busy, so I can’t hold that against them. Visiting from down south, we a pleasant shock when we got the bill, as the cost was considerably lower than it would have been at home. A great meal, lovely food and at a great price. Highly recommended

We were staying nearby and decided to find a curry house in Coleshill. We were not disapointed with chosing Balti Cottage. We had vegatarian curries and they were absolutely delicious. The service was great and the food is very reasonably priced. If I was in the area again I would definately return.

Visited Raj and the team recently with a friend and wasn’t disappointed. Food is always fresh and of great quality and general ambience superb. I suggested the Shaslick Mulgi bhuna to my friend as this is my go to meal and he said it was the best Indian he’d ever had. Would never go anywhere else in Coleshill as it really is that good. Worthy of the 5 star review.

My favourite Indian restaurant, quite possibly the best Pathia in the Midlands. The food is always spot on, Raj and his staff always friendly and welcoming and the spicy red sauce dip for the poppadoms is delicious too 😋👍🏼

Me and my wife went for our last curry of the year cost a little on the high side considering the standard of food it was very mediocre I.was shock when my main meal arrived at the table in stead of it comming in dishes were you put what food you require on your plate the main meal curry was dished on my plate already no were to put your acompliment very strange if I was going to talk about the place was cold staff ok food very average Prices a little high based on what you got maybe give it a miss

The starters were nice, curries could have been hotter, I have had balti's where it was sizzling when they brought it out, it was so hot. Soft drinks were warm not chilled, perhaps they would have added ice if we'd asked, decent selection of both curries and desserts, prices were reasonable too, might go again but will try other curry houses in Coleshill first.

Just been to Balti cottage, had Balti Cottage Special Bhuna ,Absolutely stunning comes with Pilau rice, havn't been for years due to medical issues, still got same chef,And Raj is still the boss.lovely man. Highly recommended

We came here yesterday with all my family (11 people) the curry was lovely and one of the best we have ever had. There was a bit of a wait, but that was acceptable as there were a few of us. I will be recommending to family & friends to try this curry house & we will be back our selves 😊

I was shocked how they charged for £11.95 for a chicken curry when it was clearly marked at £7.95 on the menu . And it's only £6 When the deliver to your property. My Mrs showed me the bill after . I recommend not to eat in the balti cottage but just order a delivery its twice as cheap.

Just had a birthday meal with my 10yr okd twins (their 1st ever curry). This place never fails to surprise me, amazing food and service. Fresh tasting food, tasty and a fantastic menu. Nothing too much trouble gor the great waiters. Chicken Nihari to die for

We were surprised at how busy the restaurant was on a Wednesday early evening. Very popular it appears. Nothing special to write about, but decent meal for two with drinks for £40 is always good value.

It was our first visit to this restaurant, and we went on a recommendation. We travelled from South Birmingham, and it was well worth the journey. Food was amazing, hot and tasty, staff were polite and friendly. We will be recommending to our friends and family, and will definitely return 👍😋

Food not up to standard chicken and meat dry and very chewy not used to that curry sauce was nice as was the nan bread staff could be more pleasant won't visit again

I have been coming here now for more than 15 years and have never had a meal either dining in or take away. The chicken Silheti Chilli has to be tried. Absolutely delicious. Fabulous service, friendly staff. Highly recommend.

My wife and I arrived and were shown to a seat - not a great welcome and honestly made us feel we were intruding. We ordered or drinks which came very fast , then a couple of starters - platter and chicken pakora - both were small portions but very tasty. The main courses were also tasty but not much chicken :-( . We ordered another couple of drinks that we did not get . All in all the food was tasty and reasonably priced - but I don’t think we will be back.

Awful service and food was not edible! Edit: I am adding to this review in light of a response from Balti Cottage (see below) who claim that we did not bring our dissatisfaction to their attention during out visit. Firstly I question how they can remember, since it took them 4 years to reply! Unfortunately, I remember the occasion distinctly. We ordered a mushroom balti, which was greasy with oil floating on the top. We complained and asked for another one with less oil, but it came exactly the same. Then we also complained about the chicken tikka masala as it didn't taste nice. They said "that's just how it comes", and eventually swapped it for something else, which wasn't much better. They weren't in any way apologetic, and if anything became defensive and were reluctant to help. I don't usually like to complain, but in this instance the food and service quality were so appalling that I had to leave a negative review. I hope that Balti Cottage can now take this feedback on board, rather than dismissing it with a generic message that does not take responsibility for their poor service.

This place does not even deserve the one star I had to give to air my views, firstly the food was very poor to the point of being inedible, also they are not open about their prices , BEWARE you even get charged for the dips and onion salad with your poppadoms, , the first time that has ever happened to me Also double check your bill if you have the misfortune to find yourself eating here as they had made several mistakes on ours. What should have been a lovely evening with good friends was ruined due to this excuse for a curry house, wish we hadn't paid , obviously we didn't leave a tip but if they read their own reviews take this tip Close Down ASAP. I am adding to my original review due to a response from the restaurant Firstly, thank you for your swift response, it's only taken you 4 Years, which helps me understand how uninterested and unhelpful your staff were during my visit to your establishment. They obviously are guided by you in their approach to customer service. I should just like to wish any unfortunate souls who have the misfortune of patronising your restaurant in the future the best of luck with being provided with an edible meal.

Great food and service with good prices

Can I just say I booked a reservation at the balti cottage in Coleshill having eaten there when we came out of the first lock down. After having several home deliveries over the last six months I decided to take a chance and book a table for my mother's 75th birthday (mom being a very fussy eater) the booking I made was for 16 people no just did they give use a room to ourselves the SERVICE THE Waiting staff was outstanding THANKYOU ALL JASON

Having moved to the area over 12 months ago, it’s been a tough time dining out.. So, we decided to try Coleshill for an Indian meal.. The restaurant we had intended to go to was closed, a bit of a blunder on their website, but as a bonus we dined here, The meet and greet was good, the restaurant adhered to COVID rules and we were impressed. The food was hot, prompt and of a really good standard. It was a nice birthday meal Well done…

I used to love this place but haven't used in a few years. We had takeaway, the naan bread and onion bhajis were dry and chewy, the curries were all very bland. 3 of 5 of us have upset stomachs this morning. Part of our order was missed off and when my sister phoned to check it they spoke very quickly and had no time for her, saying she hadn't been charged which was fair enough but they could have spoken nicely to her and apologised for missing it off when writing down the order Wont be using again

Unfortunately I was served a horrible masala fish that smelt like bad cod liver oil and tasted even worse. I had a food poisoning after visiting this 'restaurant'. I don't recommend at all.

Just got back from a lovely meal at the Balti Cottage in Coleshill with friends. Fantastic service, fantastic food and at a great price. Chicken Nihari never fails to be my fav main and everybody left happy. Can't wait to go again

We visited the Balti Cottage on a Wednesday evening. It was a family meal and the first time visiting this restaurant. We arrived slightly earlier than booked and were directed to a table in the corner. We were the only customers in the restaurant. The welcome and service was pretty poor from the start. Not a friendly atmosphere at all. The water arrived in a bottle with mildew round the lid. Starters arrived and after a 30-minute wait our main courses arrived. Our mains were bought out individually with gaps between each one. Some of us had to start eating as they were starting to go cold. They missed off one of our side dishes and we had to wait for them to cook it. The cheese Naan arrived as a normal Naan with grated cheese over the top. All in all it was really disappointing. The service was terrible. We felt like we were a hindrance and they couldn’t be bothered to serve us. To top it off it cost over £90 for the privilege. Unfortunately we won’t be returning!

Went here for a meal with a friend. Came out hot but absolutely covered in grease. No flavour whatsoever. Frozen veg. Bland. Would not recommend. For the prices you'd expect alot better. Doesn't deserve the one star. Ceiling looks like it's going to fall in.

Vegetable biryani was tasteless with the only flavour evidence was the onion. All veg except for potato was frozen. Vegetable biryani consisting of sweetcorn, garden peas, small long frozen carrots and a few chunks of potato. Poppodoms didnt taste fresh and as others have mentioned, you aren't asked if you would like the dips, just assumed and charged. Friends curry was swimming in grease.

Tried their own take on signature dishes dupiaza and kurma and tried 2 original starters, one with a mango sauce and another with salmon.Tried bangla beer in their wonderful glasses. Great service, watched the waiter deal with needy teenagers on another table. 10/10The place was quiet but it was midweek in October, people were coming in to pick up takeaways though

A very stale smell the moment you walk in to the restaurant , a mixture of damp and stale beer The balti was pasty tasteless slop , we should of followed my gut feeling and turned around and walked out

read reviews so ordered a delivery, was told because they were busy it would be an hour , fair enough , after one hour 10 minutes l rang to see where order was , told another 10 mins after 20 mins still no show so rang again ,to be told another 20 mins , cancelled order , l dont mind it being busy on a saturday but to keep getting fobbed off is a Pi** take l think , wont be using them again

Truly an amazing curry. With a very good selection of drinks but my god a couple of the waiters looked like they’d been told serving a curry was about to be made illegal. Seriously tasty food but lacked atmosphere due to the grumpy twins. Would have been five stars if they turned their frowns upside down.

Always and excellent meal, can’t fault it. Loved by all the family, including the kids, who can be very hard to please!

The title says it all. Truly dreadful curry. Completely flavourless. Stated fairly hot on menu and my one year old granddaughter could have dealt with it. My advice is don’t bother

This restaurant was recommended to us by a relative after recently struggling to find a good, reasonably priced Indian restaurant. We have now visited the Balti Cottage twice and were very pleased with our meals on both occasions. There is an extensive menu, the pricing is reasonable and the service is good. The food is very good quality and very nicely spiced. The flavours and ingredients taste fresh and the naan breads are very light compared with other Indian restaurants. It is a licenced restaurant but drinks are nice and reasonably priced. There is a good choice of Indian beers. We visited with different sets of friends on both occasions and all have said they would come back to eat here again. I think we have just found our new favourite Indian restaurant!

Really disappointed with balti cottage, food was very very bland. not much flavour atall, i tried to play it safe with a balti aswell. Had a keema naan bread to go through it, that had barely any meat inside it.

I have used balti cottage a few times over years and normally no problem but yesterday dinned with a large party which they claimed to never have had the booking amended but personally spoke to a member on the phone and the service was terrible, we was treated as separate parties so people was eating while others was waiting ages and failed to bring out rice that was ordered until most of our curries was cold , number of people dinning said the tikka masala was blend and unenjoyable,

Collected a takeaway from here. Got a discount for collecting food was of a very high standard and the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was freshly prepared and ready at the advised time. Overall very pleased and will be going back!

After a long day at the NEC. Felt the need of something spicy and filling. Nice table, attentive service. Jalfrezi not as good as I'd hoped.

Very welcoming staff, who are patient and helpful. The foods was great, mest was tender and sauces perfectly prepared. To my taste thd food was a lot less salty than other restaursnts, but there was plenty of flavour. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals with the Bangabeer which can't be found everywhere. Compared to Kingfisher and Cobra it's lighter but still good alcohol level. Overall the experience was definitely better than most.

Excellent meal and service at short notice for 9 diners. See you again soon.

We always order our curry from here, the service is always bang on and raj the owner will always take care of his customers. Food is full of flavour, and heat if you like your curry’s spicy. Most definitely would recommend this curry house.

We visited with friends for a Christmas Eve Meal. The food was great. Best curry I’ve had in a while. Service was very good and fast. A member of our party even asked about purchasing a glass and a bottle of beer and they were very accommodating. There are a few curry houses in Coleshill but I would recommend this one.

as this was a 13th birthday the birthday boy wanted to go to the balti cottage suited us as we go regular and gave us a chance to try their new menu the wife loves fish so she had the bengal style trout bhuna and she loved it I opted for the sweet chilli chicken off the bone it was fantastic the rest of us just had what they usually have not adventurous like us all in all it was a great night with excellent grub

We had been out to the cinema came back home and then decided on the spot to have a meal so we stopped and went into the Balti Cottage.They greeted us well and sat us down drinks arrived promptly and orders taken for food. The food arrived and it was really good no complaints from anyone and the service from start to finish was excellent

Always have a great meal when I visit. They have a lot of specialty dishes which is a nice change from your standard popular dishes you get elsewhere. My parents go every single week, so that speaks volumes!

We went to the Balti Cottage to take advantage of their offer of their £8.95 deal. We had a lovely meal. The deal included any starter and a curry and rice or a naan. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the restaurant is very clean and comfy. We will definitely return.
