On arrival to an empty restaurant we were told that the chef was in away and to bear with the Manager. Two starters ordered and one arrived. The Riata was served in a ramekin that had obviously been used the day before and not washed. We had to ask for our second starter. No napkins were on the table. When our curry arrived the greasy cutlery was thrown on the table! Curry was a decent portion and was spicy, hot & tasty. There was no one around as we left the restaurant. It was a disappointing eating experience and extremely poor customer service.

1st and last time ordering. Ordered set meal extra for peshawar nan and Turkish kebab. Absolutely no sweet taste, bland and small compared to every other Indian peshawar nan we've tried in perth. Rice had no taste either. On the plus the Turkish was nice. The other curry was OK but nothing special. The salad came in a plastic bag, not sure if that's normal but I've never once had a salad delivered in a bag. Paid about £6 more than we normally do but didn't mind as it was recommended. Fast delivery though, could be due to the poor food and less busy as we normally wait over an hour for the other places in Perth with far better tasting food. Overall I wouldn't recommend unless your starving and going to wolf down the food without tasting it.

This curry house was very near to our weekend B&B and despite the neglected frontage we decided to give it a go. Getting served took a little time and they seemed more used to doing take aways rather than having sit down diners. The starters arrived and Wow, they were massive. The onion bhajis and mixed pakoras covered a side plate and were 2inches tall. Each plate would have served 4. It did not come with any yoghurt so I asked for some and I received a dish of yoghurt...no mint included. The main dishes were very tasty and we'd each have them again. We did have a bottle of very poor wine at £16ish, which was a rip off. We will be back.

Good things about our take away - the spicy onions, the pilau rice, the salad. (otherwise known as the easiest things in an Indian) The bad things in our take away- the Currys are very watery, the nan break was stale, the poppadoms were soggy, the chicken pakora can break teeth it’s that hard, the chickeb in general was very tough if you get the chicken you better make sure you have a stake knife to cut it! There is a lot of oil sitting at the top of the curry(as seen in the attached pictures), and if you want the chicken tikka masala you don’t get the chicken in the sauce, you have to do that yourself, never had that in my life at an Indian! So if you are looking at eating here I would save your hard earned money and eat somewhere else!

Thought I’d try as this place changed hands. Ordered a pizza tonight in the shop. There was no mince meat in the chiller so the guy asked the other guy who was wiping the top of the freezer with a cloth to get some. He took out a small bag from the freezer and opened the bag taking some frozen mince meat out and scattered some on the pizza the other man was preparing for me. Bearing in mind he had just been wiping the top of the freezer with that cloth in his hand. He then placed the cloth on a RED chopping board picked up the empty container from the chiller and gave it a wipe with the same cloth that he had placed on a RED chopping board and refilled the container with the frozen mince meat. Red chopping boards are for raw meat!!!! While my pizza was cooking the delivery car arrived. The man from the shop took out a fair sized bucket of uncooked chicken which the driver placed in the front of his car. Another two full buckets were placed on the pavement and the driver also placed them in the car. None of the buckets were covered and the driver was smoking throughout picking up the buckets and getting into the car. The chicken was destined for the shop in Bridgend. Tell me apart from what I’ve mentioned above how do you know when the date the chicken must be consumed by as he never told the driver? And why transport large quantities of uncooked chicken that’s not even in a sealed container with the driver smoking

Recently visited Perth, and was staying not to far from this restaurant as the weather was very cold decided to have a meal here, waiter was very chatty and my wife explained she did not like spicy food , he recommend some dish, which when it arrived looked more like bowl of custard and smelt very much of coconuts, so far so good, it was not until the next day my wife felt very sick and spent most of the day where we were staying either in bed or in the bathroom,as we had not eaten anywhere else on our travels that day, I can only guess that, having worked in restaurants myself that the chicken had not been cooked properly or the coconut milk was off, they were doing a lot of takeaways that night andI wonder if anyone else had problems as I see on TripAdvisor others have complanied about the food, if I had, had time on our visited to Perth I would have made a complaint to Environmental health at the local council.

We had a Groupon voucher which clearly stated £30 for 4 people, starters, mains, rice and nann. We were unsure of the quantity so asked the waitress twice to clarify what was part of the deal, i.e. what curries, how many rices and how many nann's were included in the deal. However when we had finished our meal we were handed a £16 bill, this was met with 4 very confused faces as we had no extras and had stuck with what was on the Groupon.

First time in Perth and at this Indian restaurant. Went here based on other reviews on Tripadvisor. More of a takeaway than a sit in restaurant I'd say. We were the only couple sitting along with a single other man. Phone rang a lot for orders and plenty people were coming in to pick up. No music meaning there was no atmosphere. Lady serving us was Scottish (I think), not much of a smiler though. Didn't wait too long for food. It was tasty enough and there was plenty of it. Wasn't too expensive and if I lived in Perth I'd definitely order a takeaway from here as that'd be even cheaper. If you're visiting and staying in the centre then it's only a short walk over the bridge.

This isn't the most attractive restaurant in Perth and I've driven past it many times without giving it much of a second glance. However I won't make that mistake again! The inside was basic but clean, the menu has a good selection of "authentic" dishes and British Indian classics. The service was chaotic with a ready smile and the owner/father/waiter was chatty and fun. All of that leads to the food. It was really good! From the poppadoms that were fresh and tasty to the huge portion of mixed pakora that was very good, but enough to share, right into the fresh and flavoursome curries. Finished off by a bill that is very easy in the pocket. I've been to nicer places that cost much more and many worse places that cost more but this felt like honest family cooking in a relaxed atmosphere. Maybe not quite a taste of the Punjab as a taste of Bradford, but that's not a bad thing. 2 tips for anyone who is going here:- be hungry!- don't ask for hot! I'm a Madras man, but the medium dish I ate was just about perfect and the couple behind us really struggled with a hot dish. Give it a go. I'll be back and I've got the delivery menu as well.

Visited here early Friday evening for dinner. We had Groupon deal. £16 for 2 meals and drinks. That in itself is a great deal, and ideal for trying out a new restaurant because even if you don't like the place or the food you haven't broken the bank to try it. If you can get the Groupon deal, give it a go. The restaurant is not too big. Approx 12 tables I think. We were the only sit in diners, however there was a steady stream of take away orders. I think it's location is probably holding it back as it is out of Perth city centre. If it was in the centre I am sure it would be very busy. Food was fantastic. From the spiced onions to start to the actual starters and then the curries. I had chicken poori to start, it was so tasty. Highly recommended. One of us is vegetarian but that food was so tasty also. Food was fresh, hot, and very tasty. Rice was steaming and huge naan to share. Drinks reasonably priced as far as restaurants go.Could not fault the service. Waitress was very friendly. Food was served in good time. Even with the extras we had I was surprised at how little the bill came to, even allowing for the Groupon deal. I have eaten in lots of Indian restaurants which are far pricier than here. But they would struggle to beat the quality of the food we received. The a la Carte menu prices are very reasonable. 2 could easily dine 2 courses with a drink for £40. In my opinion this is a hidden gem in Perth. Go on, give it a go. You will not be disappointed.

I ordered the prawn puri as a starter and my partner decided not to have a starter, but we ended up sharing my puri because the portion was really big! Our mains were also really good - mixed tandoori and the garlic chilli chicken. Price is also reasonable, food is great so we will definitley be going back!

Ordered two curries plus accompaniments. Was told delivery would be 45 mins. Food arrived 1h20 later with rice missing. I rang and was told I'd need to wait for the delivery driver to come back this way and could be ages. My husband began tucking into the nan & chicken pakora but food was bland and tasteless. Upon opening the curries they were both absolutely swimming in excess oil. I told my husband to put everything back into the bag and rang them to say that we wouldn't be eating any of our meal. They restaurant phoned me back to say they were sending the chef to my house. A bit bewildered. We sat and waited. He arrived and I invited him into my house whilst he stood in the kitchen and demanded to know why we weren't eating his food. Said that he was a five star chef and no one had ever complained. There was nothing wrong with it in his opinion. He urged us to try it in front of him. By which time it had been sitting an hour and we refused. He told me we could microwave his food He eventually left with the food after asking us to put it in our bin but we refused as we wanted a refund. He then phoned me the next day and said that he wouldn't be refunding me as one piece of pakora and a bit of the nan bread was missing. The order was 24 pound. I argued, we had to try the food in order to know that we didn't enjoy it. He agreed to refund the chips and one of the main meals. 9.50 worth. I wasn't gonna win with this guy so I just accepted it. But hardly any of the food was touched so doesn't quite constitute to £13 worth. He then told me not to call him again as he wont be serving me. I've never had this kind of customer service in my life. Such rude management. Thanks for my £9.50 back regardless. Maybe a customer care course would be beneficial to these thieves. I'd really avoid this restaurant for sit in and take away.

We have now tried a number of Indian take aways in Perth/Scone and this is definitely our favourite. We have been around 5-6 times now and have enjoyed all the dishes we have sampled. We prefer medium to hotter dishes and can recommend the chicken tikka chilli masala, jaipuri, janter manter and the tikka garam masala. The chicken jalfrezi masla is also good and seems very popular. We go for the set menu for two which is excellent value.

The Balajee Spice is a very good Indian restaurant just outside the centre of Perth. We had a variety of dishes between 2 couples and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food but what made our evening was the staff. The night we went it was being run by 'mum and dad' as the normal waiting staff were away. What a hoot! Not only were they good at waiting tables, they were an entertainment too. Can't guarantee that you will get this additional pleasure but worth a visit for the food

Went to this Indian whilst staying over on Perth for our days at the 'Perth Races'. It was a five minute walk from our guest house. Staff were wonderful, very attentive and courteous! The chef came out and asked if we had enjoyed our meal when we were done! Food was the best we have tasted and the price was beyond believe, coming for Aberdeen where we would have been near double! Would recommend a visit and we will definitely return! I had the Moonlit Chicken Tikka, was yummy! Thank you Balajee Spice

We were given a groupon voucher as a present for this restaurant. Staff very welcoming. Generous helpings. All very tasty. Naan bread was large, all neatly cut up and put in a basket. I was offered a doggy bag to take home as I couldn't finish my mains. All in all a nice experience.

We recently had our dinner with our family and my child, the food is very good - I mean the taste and we all loved the plain naan bread which I have ever seen the size and taste. It was a great surprise for our family to finish that days dinner. The staffs were so kind and friendly. The attitude and serving style was traditional in an expected way and more than the busy restaurant. We will recommend for any time to have the food but give some time for the kitchen to make the best food to have it.

With family decided at last minute to dine out and go somewhere different. We were the only diners there but it obviously is very busy with carry outs. Tons to eat and service was very good. Food was good.

I had been meaning to try the Balajee Spice for some time - I now know what I've been missing! It is not in the greatest of location and its exterior appearance and location suggests basic - but how deceptive. Once inside and seated I could not fault the service or food - really tasty and colourful presentations and substantial portions. The menu has all the usual-suspect dishes, all at least as well executed as any other "Indian-type" restaurant in Perth. I know I'll be back sooner rather than later. It was not desperately busy during our visit but it is small enough for that not to matter, but big enough if it is busier (there is an extended area to the right as you enter).
