Baggati's Italian in Croydon

I've been ordering regularly from bagattis since pre-pandemic - at least 6-10 orders per year - and you refused my order on new year's eve. Disgusted. Won't be ordering from you again if this is how you reward loyalty.

I was at Bagatti’s for a business lunch for about 70 people so we pretty took over the place and had a special priced menu. The food was delicious and generous portions all round. We had a shared platters to start. For main I had the branzino (sea bass) which was very fresh (I’m very fussy). The staff did an amazing job in getting all the orders in and in front of each diner without error hot out of the kitchen. No delays in starting whilst others waiting for food. Extremely impressive performance from kitchen. I don’t live anywhere remotely near but if I did I would most definitely be back. Highly recommended. A local favourite for good reason. Long may it thrive.

Lovely food and amazing atmosphere

I had the worse experience in this restaurant.first of all we ordered the staters and I asked the waiter how many pieces of bruschetta in one potion . The guy told me 6 slices when the bruschetta arrived 2 slices cut in 3 pieces from each slice. I ordered seafood risotto also was expensive and tastes horrible. The calamari was over cooked no taste at all. Pizza Quattro formaggi…classic margarita with a bit of Gorgonzola on top. Never in my life I see pizza Quattro formaggi with tomato sauce.They must be thankful because I paid my bill. 0/10

My favourite restaurant in Croydon. Food is absolutely perfect and it’s a great venue for a date or birthday dinner. Would recommend!

We walked pass this restaurant a few times and it was always busy. We had our first visit recently and it's abit of a mixed feeling. The place looks great, staffs were friendly, but services was quite poor (not sure if it was just a bad night for them). Orders were taken with their tablet and we even got an acknowledgement of "good choice" on a few dishes, but the waiting time was loooooong. I'm talking about an hour of waiting, so definitely a poor experience seeing we were starving. The young waitress helped us chased up our order which was "lost in the kitchen", but food did come out after 5 mins. So my guess is the food was just sitting there, or the chefs could cook magically quick, or we took someone else's orders. The mystery remains. Similar experience with our desserts, but less waiting time, though they brought out different desserts at first. The server looked abit lost, but apparently they were for another table. It was interesting (?) to watch the desserts being taken around the restaurant to the rightful owners. Saying all the above, the food was delicious! So if you aren't too hungry and can lower your expectations on services, then I'd recommend there.

We've now been to Bagattis twice. The food is good the service is not. We have had issue with service on both occasions. Our first visit we waited 40 minutes for a dessert that states on the menu we should allow up to 20 minutes for. After waiting for 40 minutes and asking where the dessert was we were told it says on the menu it takes up to 20 minutes. Once I pointed out we had been waiting for twice that the dessert magically appeared. Either the dessert was just sat in the kitchen, or they gave us one prepared for another table. On our second visit we were waiting for over an hour for our main courses and when we asked where they were we were told they had lost the ticket so the food had not been made, we eventually did get our mains and an apology. Fast forward to dessert and we were bought the wrong desserts. When we were finally bought the correct desserts, one of them was missing, eventually we did end up with the correct desserts, and another apology. When I asked for the bill, which we also struggled to get, I asked for the service charge to be removed and the waiter had the audacity to ask why! Firstly it's discretionary, I shouldn't have to tell you why. Secondly you've had to apologise to the table about your shocking service twice, you should not be asking why we are removing the service charge. This is a prime example of why these automatic service charges really need to go away. The expectation that customers will automatically pay an additional charge for shocking service is ridiculous! The reason I am giving 2 stars and not 1 is because when it does get to your table the food is actually pretty good. Unfortunately everything is just let down by the service.

Lovely people and nice atmosphere. My chicken and linguine with main meal was a bit dry but my friends' meals were good. Tiramisu was so tasty. Lovely service from young lady moving back to Portugal 😞.

This is the best restaurant in Croydon. For food, service, atmosphere and value. Was taken out for Mother's Day Dinner. No wonder it is always booked up. We'll worth the wait. I have been a patron of Bagattis for years and I am loyal for a reason, they have NEVER let me down.

The last time I went here was back in July 2023 and the food and service was great back then. This time round, I had to ask for water (to go with the wine) five times and after waiting for the dessert menu for 20 minutes, I gave up and asked for the bill. The food was tasty (as always) but I would strongly suggest that there needs to be a lot more attention paid to the service (especially if you are adding service charge to the bill).

Celebrated my Dad's birthday there sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed the set menu on a Sunday. Felt lovely and relaxed, and thoroughly enjoyed the delicious, large portions of food (which I also had for lunch the following day).

The food was delicious and fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I had. The service could have been better, to be fair it was a busy night when I visited. I definitely visit again.

Regular customers Come back after theatre in West End every time to come to eat at Bagattis. Tried West end restaurants. Not a patch on their menu. Would recommend to all

Whenever we are celebrating a special occasion, most recently our 20th wedding anniversary, we will probably come to Bagattis. The food is excellent, the staff are great and it's always a wonderful place for a celebration.

Great Italian food. Other than the waiting times being a bit long when its very busy, we have nothing to fault. Delicious authentic italian food, good wines, good portions and reasonable prices. We recommend it to people who ask for good restaurants in the area, and are regular customers ourselves. Our favorite is the prawn pasta. We are very happy that they are dog friendly (only for outside seating though, so we only go when the weather is good otherwise would go more often).

We had a lovely meal here. All of the staff were extremely attentive. My friend and I both got some sort of seafood pasta and the seafood was so fresh and delicious! The food was seriously fantastic, we can’t wait to go back and try more from the menu. The wine list is excellent with lots to choose from. I would say it’s also fairly priced, for a starter, main and a bottle of white wine (split with my friend), I only paid around £45! I would definitely recommend it here and can’t wait to return :)

It's not italian, but... pizza was good, but it was not Italian style. Pasta was good but was not Italian style either. Desserts were good, and the staff was good. I'd go again, easy solution if you're hungry.

The fish mixed grill was fantastic. The wine list was good and the staff were very attentive. We will be back!

Went for dinner with friends n family. It was good place. Food was delicious and service was good. The only thing not excellent for 5 star rating was the red wine. It was not great..I have had better Merlot. But still overall a good experience.

I don’t often write reviews but definitely give credit where it’s due, My husband’s bought me to bagattis a few years back and I remember how delicious the food was , so decided to book for Mother’s Day and once again they did not fail to please me with their mouth watering sharing platter, slow cook soft lamb and the best tiramisu I’ve ever eaten, potions are great and prices are reasonable waiters are welcoming and polite , thank you and see you again soon xx

This place has been on my list since I moved to South Croydon two years ago! There’s so much choice on South End that it took me a little longer to make it to Bagattis than I would have liked. However, I finally made it and I was not disappointed. The food was GOOD! Very tasty. Maybe even more than I was expecting it to be. The menu is a little pricey, which is also a little of why I’ve not been before now. You’d think it was a West End restaurant, rather than a local Croydon one but I saw, via Instagram, that they were doing “a starter & main for £20” promotion and thought it was the perfect time to try them out. I had Parma Ham w/ Mozzarella to start and the Prawn linguine for my mains. That linguine dish was so good that I wanted to lick my plate! My cousin & her hubby’s choices all looked delish too.

The chef's special Tomahawk Steak is very delicious. Highly reco! Excel service! Defo be back!

Been visiting here for years with the kids and friends on and off. Good food. Great portion sizes. The wine is a bit expensive per bottle for their house wine. Service immaculate. Becoming a firm favorite again.

The customer service is excellent, not the cheapest place for Italain, but the food was nice.

The food was tasty, with a large options on the menu. Nonetheless for the money that they charge, a lot of things were missing. The restaurant itself was not looked after, had wobbly and small tables and chairs that felt unsafe to sit on. Although the waiters were trying to be friendly, they were unprofessional and it seemed that they kept forgetting things all the time. Not too happy in general, below average.

Other than cost of a pint of lager this is an excellent restaurant. Was in a big party and food delivered in good time and was very tasty.

Amazing Italian with very welcoming servers

Really nice and tasty food best Italian place I've tried. The service is excellent and Manuel who looked after me and my friends was very helpful giving us top recommendations and great service. Our guests can't wait to go back. Personally am not a massive fan of Italian food but this really marks a difference and is great each time we visit. Thank you and look forward to our next visit!

I love this place. My husband’s Italian family have been going since the 90s. This is thanks to the consistency of the quality of the food and portion sizes. Georgio has always been fantastic and the service has always been amazing. Bagatti’s make a fuss of every single birthday - Stevie Wonder comes on and then a free pudding with a candle comes out 🥹 It is an absolute gem of a restaurant. Go go go!

Decent restaurant, pizza was nice but slight too greasy

Lived in area for a longtime, so visited for 1st time on 9 Dec. It was great experience, good choice on menu, great food 😋 and staff were great. I'm going back again.

I had heard about how good this place is and finally got around to trying it for myself. All the praise Bagatti's gets is absolutely justified. I think the highest praise I can give Bagatti's is that I asked my dining companion "would you bring your Italian grandfather here?" and the answer was "absolutely". Come and try the food, you won't be disappointed!

Lovely food and service, reasonable prices, nice location and feel. Still as good 2022 Update October 2023 not sure what happened, off day? Polenta starter size of a main loads of pancetta not needed, polenta itself under seasoned, calves liver ropey, sinew. I feel the restaurant now needs a new menu tighter, fresher, let's get back to nice clean food, let the ingredients shine as they used to. Understood tough in current climate but if your charging the money then you need the consistency and quality.

We used to visit once a month around 10 years ago when our children where little. We weren't disappointed, amazing food and service. We be returning soon. My only comment would be house white at £25 is a bit strong. Thanks.

Best Italian restaurant in Croydon! 100% will be going back

Overall a nice looking restaurant. A good menu option. I choose the lamb Raghu, and I thought it was too much sauce for the quantity of pasta, as well lacking a bit of pepper. My husband got the vongole spaghetti that was very good portion. We thought it was a bit pricey compared to other italian local restaurants that we go in Central London.

Came for a Christmas party in which we pre-paid for. The service was brilliant and the food was lovely everyone enjoyed it. The only bad note I have is that the service charge for bringing drinks over is very extortionate be prepared for this!! I think we paid about £16 in service charge to bring a bottle of wine over and a soft drink

Atmosphere is great and the service was fantastic. Started with a mojito which was very good, and then had garlic bread with cheese and calamari to start followed by a main of carbonara. Both of the starters were very good, but the standout dish was the carbonara. Excellent flavour, generous portion and possibly the best pasta dish I have eaten. Couldn’t recommend this place more.

5th August 2023 1.30pm This was a late birthday treat for me from my friend. It was worth the wait. I chose Bagatti's because I wanted Italian food & haven't been here for years. They didn't disappoint us. It was so tasteful, portion size very good. Choose any dish. Customer service make you want to come back also. Me & friend loss the track of time. 3hrs 15mins. 😁 Thank you so much. 🤗

I cannot praise Georgio & his staff enough!!! They were warm, welcoming & very friendly, speaking both Italian & English, the dishes were varied & presented with a bit of flair, reasonably priced with superb atmosphere!!! The staff acted with great discretion & sensitivity when my elderly friend fainted. Great restaurant for all occasions

My dine out with friend’s at Bagatti’s last night was an amazing experience. The Prosecco went down one bottle after the other and so did the food. The Med prawns starter that I ordered was perfect to taste and I later ordered the grilled sea bass with veggies and the only thing left on the plate was the prawn shells as the dish was totally enjoyable. Couldn’t stop with just savoury, so next comes the Chocolate fondant with ice-cream dessert. Delectable and delicate wrapping of the meal. My first visit, but surely not my last. Busy with diners, but the staff lit the place with their friendly smile and served with efficiency. Well done and Thank you, Bagattis. See you soon.

Absolutely delightful restaurant in Croydon. They gave my mum and fabulous 80th Birthday lunch. Highly recommended and great food with well sized portions.

Very patient staff, the food was lovely. My husband is diabetic and he was a bit low on his sugar when we arrived so I had to ask the staff to wait while I made sure he was okay.

Great service and atmosphere. As a regular the food has slightly tailed off but I will still go as its not terrible.

This place is beautiful. My husband and I walked in they took time to get us a preferred table even thought we only booked an hour ago. The ambience, vibe and look was all authentic. They brought us olives and warm bread complementary, not many restaurants do this and we have been to a lot of high ones. The staff are so courteous, and didn't push us to order starters or made us feel un easy which some restaurants do. This is my first time here and this is somewhere we agreed we will come again regularly. Would highly recommend.

Very bad service Sit 15 minutes got to ask about menu took 20 minutes in total for menu had landed. Not interested for small party(2 person) Wait for main come 45 minutes after starter. Went at none peak time 4.30 pm. Give cash for nearly £90bill 15 pounds change in a very small coins. Not impressed at all for the first time visit . -1 stars

I've been to Italian restaurant and always says it's the best but I've found the best. It's so good I've been last week tonight. The service is outstanding from the minute you walk through the door. Food is amazing 10/10. Staff are very busy. Highly recommended and book to avoid disappointment......this is far the best

Change of management. We wish we knew before. The staff are not as helpful. The kitchen staff don't wear the correct hygiene attire and the food was awful. When we used to come here it was really good now we will never come back.

Once more bailed out royally. A few years ago we booked Easter Sunday lunch at a nearby restaurant only to find it had closed down without notice. Bugattis found us a table at no notice and fed us so well we did not feel they were second choice. This year we had a meal delivered which meant a lot to my daughter who is not very mobile. The food was beautifully presented and delicious.once again we did not feel like second class citizens. Top marks for quality of food, cooking, and customer service! Thanks.

I LOVED IT. I came for my bday lunch with my Italian parents, and they were really pleased. Atmosphere: elegant place, nice soft covers of the best classic music. Food: huge plates, tasty and well presented dishes. We were so full we asked to take away one of the main. Service: the guys were amazing, quick and very attentive. They have made a little celebration tiramisu and played the happy bday song. THANK YOU GUYS, I will definitely come back again.

Great food, and good service. Really enjoyed this place when they knew we were in a hurry. Initially feels quite laid back but once you get their attention it’s great all the way. The food is cooked fresh to a very high standard. Would definitely come back!
