Bacaro in Woking

I’d earmarked Bacaró as an option of somewhere to have a bite to eat before a show. I was rather wary when I saw that it looked empty, whereas the place next door appeared busy. I nearly walked on past … but I’m so glad I didn’t! At 5.30pm, I was the first diner in & was greeted with welcoming smiles by the 2 ladies behind the bar. I was pleased to be allocated a window table & sat with my back to the wall … ideal for people-watching! The set menu (£20 for 2 courses or £25 inclusive of a glass of wine) offered plenty of choice for me & I opted for the pollo Milanese. The dish arrived piping hot with the chicken on a bed of mixed veg. with a tomato-based coulis. Beautifully-seasoned & delicious! For dessert, I had the crème brûlée which, although very tasty, could’ve done with being creamier. As a rule, I don’t like it when restaurants automatically add a service charge, albeit discretionary, but on this occasion I didn’t begrudge the 12.5% as the meal was very good value & the service had been efficient & friendly. The place was very busy by the time I left!

We booked for 6pm prior to a theatre show at 19:30. Adam & Anna have a business that is also geared up to providing the quicker service some theatre goers need. The food was outstanding. Anna knows her fish quality and ensures they buy the best by attending Billingsgate Market herself during the night - amazing attention to detail by both of them. Just a great meal out and will be bringing friends here to experience it in the future.

Such a lovely welcome here. Great menu choice - delicious home / chef made food. Great drinks and amazing coffee - best decaf I have had. Will definitely be visiting again.

Several Italian restaurants seem to be huddled together in this little corner of Woking and since we knew we would be visiting, I checked out the TripAdvisor reviews before selecting Bacaró for lunch. Of the restaurants reviewed that serve lunch, it was the highest rated. The greeting was friendly and although we could have sat outside, it was a bit too cold so we sat next to the counter. I have various food restrictions but settled for the king prawn starter and sea bream main from their set lunch as the only ones that I was allowed. Although my friend has no restrictions she settled for the same two dishes. We agreed that they did not disappoint. Both were tasty, nicely presented and the portions were good and clearly freshly prepared. Overall a pleasant experience. Two things almost prevented me from giving five stars, neither connected to the food or the service. There was rather loud music and it would have been nice if it had been a little quieter and Italian to match the food and the mood. And there is no disabled access to the toilet which is upstairs.

As we approached the door we could see this restaurant was going to be a great experience by its lighting, decor, welcoming staff and ambience inside - vibrant, wonderful aromas and first class service. We were shown to our table of eight upstairs and staff were warm, friendly and efficient. Spoilt for choice with the menu! We'd all made our choices and certainly weren't disappointed when our respective meals arrived. My personal choice had been the Grilled chilli & garlic king prawns, followed by Pollo Milanese - both were so flavoursome - absolutely delicious! I knew then that this would definitely not be my last visit and have already booked another table of eight. Thank you to everyone at Bacaro for such a superb evening!

I would agree with previous reviews, the food is excellent, you can’t fault it. But the attitude of the owner is a little odd; passive aggressive and made us feel uncomfortable when we questioned having a table by the door (as it was chilly). We didn’t let this spoil our night and the food made up for it!

A brilliant spot for a pre-show dinner. Its a small resturant but has a wonderful atmosphere. The set menu we had may have been small but the food was cooked to perfection! Adam was an amazing host, attentive and social the entire night. Would absolutely recommend and will definitely be going back when I'm next in Woking!

Booked Bacaro as a place well rated and easily accessible in which we could meet friends and chat and eat. My husband and I arrived first in our party of 4. The owner welcomed us, asked if we had a booking for two, and what was the name. I said we had a booking for 4 people and gave the name. He directed us to a table for 4 by the door. I asked if he had an alternative table ( I feel the cold badly and didn't want to spend the evening in the doorway). This is where it seemed to go wrong. The owner stared at a menu for several seconds..He then began to ask us what was wrong with the table proposed, why we were looking down on his restaurant, why we were disappointed when we walked in, why we were looking around the restaurant and several other bizarre accusations. We tried to explain that none of this was the case and that we just wanted to know if there was an alternative table. If there wasn't, fair enough. My husband explained that we had been in the middle of a discussion about a funeral when we arrived and this might have been the reason for the owner misinterpreting us. The owner then apologised, showed us to a table upstairs and we had a pleasant evening. He also apologised again once we were seated. However, I have to say that I have never before been so attacked on entering a venue. Had we not been meeting friends, we would definitely have left and not spent the £250 that our party spent there. The owner should read this review, consider its factual accuracy and consider whether he may need to address his anger management or other issues going forward.

Adam is an absolutely superb host! Paired with an incredible chef just absolutely WOW! Reasonably priced and super delicious. Will be returning.

This restaurant had amazing service, very quick and very attentive to the customers. Lovely outside heated area. Would highly recommend coming again. We even got a free Ragu !!!

Came here for my friends birthday & had the most delicious authentic Italian food, great service was quick and sufficient, the owner was so caring & went out of his way to make us feel welcomed despite the man at the table next to us staring, which made us feel rather uncomfortable. When it came to singing my friend happy birthday this man from the other table went out of his way to shout happy birthday over the top of us & was banging on our table, which really wasn’t needed and made us feel very uncomfortable! Despite this happening, we will DEFINITELY be coming back as the food, atmosphere and service was outstanding. Thank you so much to the owner of this restaurant! Would HIGHLY recommend.

Amazing food, even better staff. Adam is beyond helpful and helped me to sort a meal at Bacaro for my 30th birthday. You might of read the poor review from “Anne-Sophie”. We were the lucky table sat next to them :) As we mentioned to them on the evening, it’s a Saturday night at a restaurant/BAR. People have conversation sorry we didn’t keep quiet for you and your children, we didn’t realise you had reserved the whole restaurant out for yourselves. To leave a one star review even though you mention the food is amazing is a show of your character. This is a small independent restaurant and you chose to give a bad review because you didn’t like table next to you. Bacaro we will be back and I sure as hell hope Anne Sophie isn’t! 😉

Excellent food, I cannot rate the food enough. We had sharing platters, the fish was so fresh, tuna tarter was amazing. You need to book. Adam & John were friendly and couldn’t do enough for all their customers. Atmosphere lively. It’s a real find in Woking. Thank you Bacaro we’ll be back

Very very good Italian restaurant. I think it's the best I've ever tasted!! very pleasant service. The only thing is that it was very noisy following a table of 4 who were shouting instead of talking... too bad. We can't wait to go back! Well done to the chef and the team! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We came back on February 27, 24 for my birthday, impossible to talk, 9 girls at the next table screaming, the boss doesn't take responsibility, we already had this problem the first time, here it was worse! We even asked these girls without respect to speak less loudly but without success. The other customers also couldn't take it anymore!! The boss should choose his clients better or take responsibility for kicking them out!! At least never again for us. Sorry but we had a terrible evening.

Always amazing beautiful modern design, perfect food, and excellent wine you really cant go wrong. Thank you to Adam who's an excellent host and indeed all the staff it made my wife's birthday extra great. I would fully recomend Bacaro to anyone visiting woking from just drinks and nibbles to a special night out its the perfect place.

The place is nice, and so are the waitresses but food and drinks are nothing special, and definitely over charged.

A very good restaurant convenient for a dinner before a visit to the theatre. We ate from the set menu - £20 for two courses without a drink, or £25 with wine. The food was well prepared and tasty. The staff were very attentive and excellent.

From the start to the end of our visit we were made to feel like friends. The owner was attentive and entertaining. The set menu had plenty of choice and was very good value. Our food was delicious and came in good time for us to go off to the theatre.

Have been a few times in the past but keep finding ourselves coming back here. Their seafood is from Billingsgate market, and the taste and texture is what you would expect. Really reminded us of the quality of the seafood when we ate out everywhere good in Italy. Dessert slightly on the expensive side, £10 for a square of tiramisu, although lovely, will be skipping that next time and sticking to the starter and mains. Kudos!

We went to Bacaro yesterday for a pre-theatre dinner. The service was excellent and we were asked if we were going to the theatre and were assured we'd be out in time. The wine we wanted was unavailable, so we were offered the next best at the same price. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent too. Will definitely be going back!

Visited Bacaro again last evening after seeing a performance at Woking theatre. Once again, the welcome, the service and the food were exceptional. Adam worked tirelessly to ensure that all guests had a wonderful dining experience. Nothing was too much trouble. One of our party suffers from some food intolerances, but this wasn’t an issue as the food is cooked fresh so the chef made the dish without the troublesome ingredients. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bacaro but would suggest booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Can’t wait to go again.

We didn't get to actually eat here. Menu looked good, so we went in (weekday lunchtime, ~1.30pm) and I think there was 1 table that had customers? One of the waiters was sweeping the floor, it was that empty. However, just as I said I'd like a table for 4, the man behind her came up to us and said, sorry, we're fully booked, so we left. I didn't think anymore about this initially, but as we ended up eating opposite this place (which was busy), I saw that the restaurant didn't fill up... even by the time we left the other place, over 2 hours later. Being generous, maybe there were no-shows... otherwise, I guess they didn't like the way we looked? We had just come by train and walked there quickly, so maybe I was too disheveled for them. Wouldn't normally leave a review for somewhere I didn't get to experience, but that felt odd.

We went at lunch time. Called in and we were shown to our table. Place lovely and clean. Food was really tasty. No one left anything on plate so that speaks for its self. Value for money on speacial if u opt for that menu x

Wonderful surprise in central Woking. Had a family meal here and it was absolutely great. Good quality and flavoursome food, friendly and attentive service, and a nice relaxed ambiance. Highly recommended!

A cosy friendly place with great service, but the food doesn't match. Also expensive, particularly drinks. If you want to go you need to book, as it is always busy.

Had an amazing time at this restaurant one evening. I came here with a group of friends after a workshop. We ordered several different dishes. All of them were excellent.The drinks are on point. Service is top notch. Quick and friendly service. I highly recommend this Italian restaurant. You don't just enjoy the food, you enjoy the experience of being served with joy, kindness and love. Will definitely be calling again.

We’re locals to this place but today visited it for the first time. It was a spotless experience. - we were allocated a corner table as requested - we were greeted in a friendly manner and with a smile - we were provided a bottle of water for the table without even asking for it - we were given enough time to think over what we want to drink - glasses were provided nice and chilled and the gentleman kept topping Prosecco up without us asking - all these details which most places are missing, but I notice them - starters - octopus salad and mix seafood platter were very tasty, and of a very good size, trust me you won’t be disappointed and we were very hungry :) - before ordering main courses we asked a few questions about the menu and were given a detailed, honest and knowledgeable answer - we picked a tuna steak and a sea bass and both mains were delicious and a good size - not too huge, not small, perfect. - we shared one tiramisu between the two, which was homemade and truly delicious We thought the service was spotless and professional, dishes were cleared out of the table promptly, and we felt well looked after but the service was not intrusive. Also the gentleman said a couple of times - no rush, enjoy and take your time and also asked if we had a special occasion. Which we didn’t , we just like fine dining and have been spoilt a lot by good central London restaurants and like discovering new places, albeit we much prefer to stay loyal to those we already liked and I feel that this place would be one of those. I look forward to be coming back and try their cocktails and pasta! Ps - good Italian music and the vibe , you quickly forget you’re in Woking 😊 I do recommend this place without hesitation. Friends booked us in for a meal before a theatre show and all I can say is wow, we were looked after by a guy called Adam who is easily one of the best waiters I’ve ever dealt with. The food is super and the set menu is great too. We will come back as this place is great and as we left the guy outside thanked us and we had a chat and found out the guy who looked after us runs the place and I can’t say I’m surprised as he’s really great, well done to Adam and the team as you guys are amazing and is exactly why I love supporting small great local businesses rather than hideous faceless chain restaurants. We shall be back and I hope this review helps you guys to keep getting more business as you really deserve it

Fantastic on all accounts. Great spot for evening cocktails, particularly the more inventive and sophisticated ones. Avoided eating here for a while as it’s on the expensive side for us, but well worth the money- one of the most memorable dining experiences I can remember

Lovely set lunch menu. Reasonably priced and great food. They do a good Margarita hence the amount spent per person !!

Take it from an Italian, the food here is great, fresh and high quality. Lots of authentic dishes and homemade. The bread, the pesto, the arancini, the ragu with my pasta all homemade from scratch, great flavours. Very nice atmosphere too and all staff were very nice to deal with. Would recommend and return.

Lovely Friday evening meal and drinks with a friend. I hadn’t visited for a few years as I no longer live in Woking, the attentive service and quality of the food/drinks were as fantastic as I remembered. Will definitely be back again soon to try the pasta!

Took my girlfriend here for a date night and it was genuinely one of the best dining experiences I've had in a good while. The food was amazing and all the staff were lovely, in particular the gentleman who greeted and took our order. Would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a relaxing dining atmosphere.

Fantastic! Genuinely fantastic. Often walk past and hadn't been in but went on o date on Friday night and it really couldn't have been better. A gin-lover's paradise followed by a really good wine list and a gorgeous menu. Service is quick and friendly and it's just a really cosy and romantic little spot, small but lively. I can highly recommend it and will definitely be going back.

Excellent restaurant near to the theatre. Fantastic service (from the owner who was waiting tables and from the bar staff too), friendly, welcoming and efficient, despite how busy they were. The owner recommended we had the set menu to ensure we got to the theatre to see Ricky Gervais on time. We weren't sure initially as we wanted to order from the main menu but given how busy it was, we went with his suggestion. Lovely prawns and calamari to begin, beef ragu and marinara pastas to follow which were both lovely. Simple, tasty food at its best. Great cocktails and a lovely atmosphere in an attractive restaurant. In this era of chain restaurants everywhere, it's really good to see an independent doing things so well. We will be back for sure.

Love this place. The food is top notch, all made fresh with quality ingredients. On a nice little stretch of the high street where there is a cluster of decent restaurants, this is our favourite. Lovely homemade italian breads, pasta, salads. Just delicious! The service is so personal and friendly without being over the top - the owner clearly loves what he does and wants his customers to love it too.

Me and my friend had a lovely meal before a trip to the theatre. The Linguini Di Mare was absolutely beautiful. Will definitely be back, though next time I will try not to launch a glass off the table 🙈

If you want great food in a relaxed setting this is THE place to eat in Woking. There’s a reason why it’s busy (even on a Monday!) great authentic food, fantastic attentive service and a lovely atmosphere. We had a lovely dinner with drinks at Bacaro, we can’t wait to return.

This Bacoro (with Italy flag and shirt on the wall) is not worth for value, overpriced for low quality food. Food is too oily! The restaurant next door (Latino, if I remember the name correctly) is 10 times better!

Had been there 14th June 23. with a group. Starters had been very good. Main course (pasta pomodore) had been a bit tasteless and unloving. Also expectation from the group was to get a variety of main course dishes. We had been not happy with the service.

Thank you all so much for making our very special reunion so memorable. Chatty teachers who met at college 55yrs ago and still in contact WONDERFUL ....the staff, food and owners were amazingily patient with 9 over excited grown ups!!!! We hope to see you all again next year.

The staff were very welcoming and accommodating, allowing us plenty of time to order our food. They were attentive and helpful, without being intrusive. The food was delicious. I would recommend Bacaro and hope to go there again.

Great food and wonderful friendly service. We had focaccia and burrata wrapped in ham, followed by meatballs and pollo Milanese, all delicious. Service was very friendly and prompt. Lost one point only due being quite cold with all the doors open and the breeze blowing through.

We were staying the night in woking ahead of a cooking class we had booked, so i booked us in to Bacaro for a meal. A lovely warm welcome was received as we were seated. The food we received was absolutely incredible, we all 3 enjoyed everything about it! The service is incredibly friendly and everything arrived in a reasonable time. We would definitely dine here again if ever in the area and would definitely recommend"

Had a lovely sea food platter and some wine for late lunch. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for my liver) they were closing, otherwise I would have stayed there day drinking for the rest of the afternoon

We came to celebrate my husband’s birthday. After we made our order, we were greeted by the drinks 🍺. Since is was a rainy night, we wanted to start our meal with some hot starter, but it’s a pity that they don’t have mussels at that night. Octopus salad became our second choice and we were totally impressed by this warm salad. What a good choice we made! Then the two big portion and delicious main course continued to light up the rest of the evening. The last but not the least, staffs are caring and friendly. We look forward to have another day with Bacaro.😄

Really nice meal and great service. The four stars instead of five is because quite a lot on the menu was not avaliable and I thought it was a little expensive, although I appreciate all establishments have rising costs these days.

Had a very nice Chicken Milanese here and my wife enjoyed her grilled prawns. They play some catchy Italian songs here too.

Extremely delicious food - had the meatballs starter and wild boar ragu - out of this world! Best Italian I've had in a long time, lovely ambience and kind and friendly staff - what's not to love! Looking forward to returning. Woking needs more restaurants like this!

Came to Woking for work and immediately wandered into Bacaro for lunch and a drink. Excellent food, even better service. Came back a couple of days later for a great dinner and several drinks. May be back again tomorrow. Absolutely lovely. Can’t recommend enough.

food is nice but the service is extremely slow. Went for a pre-theater dinner, and it took 1.5 hrs for 3 mains to come out (no starters or desserts). Other customers present, who had ordered from the specific pre theatre menu, were also annoyed at the long wait and worried about missing the show.

First time visiting this restaurant but it definitely won't be the last! Going to the theatre with friends so we all chose the 2 course set menu. The food was outstanding. Chilli prawns (with heads and tails!) brushetta, chicken, seabass all cooked to perfection. Staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble (our friends wanted the heads and tails of the prawns removed!). Thank you!

Can't rate better than one star as we booked a 7:30om dinner for last Sunday night as an after cinema treat for my wife. We turned up at 7:25pm and they had decided to shut ,no lights on ,no staff , door locked ,no notice ,no call - disgusting way to behave. Luckily we accommodated by the restaurant next door and has a superb meal there instead !

Great vibe and good selection of Italian beers both bottled and on draft. Cosy downstairs but more room upstairs. Excellent fresh food with quick service.

Excellent service, food was perfectly cooked we had the anti plasti (Italian cold meats, cheese, bread and olives) and the sirloin steak (cooked medium rare as ordered) for mains. Desert we went for panna Cotta and afafato (excuse spelling) both were delicious. Good Italian wine selection.
