Baboo Gelato Ltd - Lyme Regis in West Dorset

So good we went twice! Great variety of flavours and all we tried tasted so yummy. We were given tasters when requested And very generous portions. All staff had a smile and were very friendly.

Stopped off in Lyme Regis for a couple of hours on a long car journey from Cornwall to Portsmouth, sampled some ice creams from here and they were scrummy, can definitely recommend the Hazlenut and Salted Caramel

Lovely ice creams by the beach at Lyme Regis. Several other vendors nearby but these are different and natural colourants with the most delicious taste.

Fabulous ice creams as usual. Honeyberry sorbet is a definite winner ! I would love the servers to be wearing a mask but otherwise highly recommended.

They ran out of chocolate ice cream but I’m glad they did because the maple and walnut was to die for and the salted caramel ice cream ,well ... YOU NEED TO TRY IT!!!!!!!!! we will 100% be back 😃

Excellent gelato, great flavours and in a huge cone. Really tasty and took ages to finish as it was so big - super smooth and so yummy, can’t wait to go back!

All the ice cream here is gluten free and the flavours we tried were delicious. They even had gluten free ice cream cones for my coeliac daughter! The staff were very friendly and understanding about cross contamination. A real find.

I have to say that the ice-cream I had was the best I had in England!The quality is like the Italian one! I took maple and walnuts, and edeeflower sorbetto.The price, to be in uk,is also good. £4 pound for 2 flavors.I wish I could have the same quality in London

Everyone is raving about the gelato (and justifiably so) but I want to add a recommendation for the coffee! Beautifully silky with a toasty sweet bitterness.

Lovely staff, lovely ice cream - probably could have done with extra staff though on the day we went as they appeared to struggle and there was quite a wait!

I am not a great fan of ice cream but I am fan of great ice cream - Mint Choc Chip in a cup was delicious. No nasty green colouring - just a fantastic minty flavour with quality chocolate chips. I also had a takeaway decaf Latte made with real care - excellent.

When we are on holiday in Italy, we seriously love their artisan Gelato - it is heaps better than English Ice Cream. Well, there is now an English gelato to rival the best Italian ones!We can heartily recommend these flavours:- Double Chocolate, Salted Caramel and the Rum & Raisin. Unfortunately, with the weather being a little nippy in November, we were unable to try any more of their wonderful range. But I am sure they are all delicious.Will we go back - Yes - as should you.

Amazing range of flavours and friendly service. We have had one for 4 days running and we are fussy over ice cream/ gelato! Loved to see that they are local, supports local people and businesses and it's all freshly handmade. Highly recommended

Bought a latte from here on two occasions. Different baristas, but the coffee was excellent both times. Perfect temperature, not overheated.

In Lyme Regis as a group of 12 on a warm day. We chose this stall for the range of flavours. the ice cream was excellent, choc peanut really good, and a discount for a large order. Friendly patient staff. What not to like!

A complete surprise - the most delicious, proper gelato made outside Italy. We followed the foot traffic along the Cobb in Lyme Regis with some scepticism. Great gelato here? It didn't take long to drown our resistance under an avalanche of flavours. BABOO - look out for the name and their growing number of branches in the area.

Second year of holidays in Lyme Regis, every night our family evening treat was a walk down too Baboo. We tried all the flavours on this week, hazelnut, salted caramel, strawberry where our favourities. We will be back too eat more of this lovely ice cream. Coffee is nice as well and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Fantastic staff and terrific ice cream. We have visited every evening and now have tried the whole menu! Just watch out for the pesky seagulls as they will nick it from under your nose.... quite literally!

Brilliant little ice-cream hut on the seafront at Lyme Regis. I had the passion fruit sorbet, which was delicious...but definitely had order envy over my partner's salted caramel gelato - it was amazing! Hunt this one down if you're in the area!

The most delicious ice-cream - we have had one almost every day of our two week holiday (sometimes more than one per day!). Amazing customer service - my little boy dropped his cone and flake and was given a free replacement despite it definitely being our fault!! A must try when in Lyme - especially the rhubarb sorbet!

Not only are the portions generous, the flavours are gorgeous and the guy who served us gave us information on ingredients and the history of the company. All great.

We visited the Lyme Regis kiosk on the Cobb, and then also the one at Chesil Beach the next day! We had rhubarb, salted caramel, coffee, chocolate, passionfruit and so many other flavours between the 10 of us, and it was all fabulous! Great size portion, good value for money, and such delicious flavours, wish i could buy it in my local supermarket!

Il Baboo, a detta degli abitanti locali che conoscono Lyme Regis, serve il miglior gelato della città. Quando un italiano me ne decantava i meriti non volevo e non potevo crederci. Pensavo che, essendo in Inghilterra, mi sarei dovuto accontentare senza dare giudizi troppo drastici sulla qualità del prodotto. E invece, dopo aver provato questo gelato ho cambiato idea. Grazioso il loro chioschetto con l'insegna su un sfondo color lavanda. Oltre al gelato servono anche bevande calde come caffè e cappuccino. Tornando al gelato, mi è stato consigliato di assaggiare il gusto di miele e noci. Meraviglioso. Cremoso al punto giusto, di una consistenza paragonabile a quella dei migliori gelati italiani. Il latte inglese è buono e quindi è relativamente semplice produrre del buon gelato; tuttavia è difficile trovarlo in Inghilterra. Di qualità anche la cialda del cono in cui è stato servito. Il prezzo è uguale a quello di un gelato italiano, quindi conveniente, essendo in questo paese tutto più caro.

Once you’ve been once, your sure to return. I love my ice cream and this is my number 1 at Lyme, staff also extremely friendly, a real credit.

Can vouch for the Madagascan vanilla and the maple and walnut. Absolutely superb. Great crispy cones and served with a napkin. At £2.50 each a bargain. Clean kiosk. Very friendly and smiling staff. Best ice cream ever!

I had the most delicious maple and walnut ice cream from here, it was absolutely gorgeous, the best ever. Unfortunately, I ended up sharing 3/4 of it with a seagull. So, if you are lucky enough to be in Lyme Regis, please try this ice cream, but beware, be very aware that someone wants to share it with you and they will stop at nothing .....

Really good ice-cream, and great staff. We needed hot water to heat a baby's bottle and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating as well as supplying us with the most delicious ice-cream.

All I can say is wow! We had various ice cream flavours between us. You can see why Baboo has won various awards as the ice cream was fantastic! I had the walnut and maple ice cream and I can safely say it’s one of the best I’ve eaten.

My new favourite Ice Cream. I had the walnut and maple ice cream and my partner had blackcurrant ripple and mango sorbet and all flavours were absolutely incredible. Rich without being overpowering, the mango sorbet was a particular highlight, but the maple and walnut was a close second. Customer service was excellent, with staff friendly and informative. Portion sizes were also massive and much better than I was expecting. Will definitely be visiting again.

Oh my. Maple and walnut ice cream is to die for! Great banter from the team working behind the busy counter. They even filled up my water bottle for me .

Baboo became our favourite Ice cream on a recent trip to Lyme Regis. We loved the walnut and maple and also the salted caramel. There may be a bit of a queue but its worth the wait. Enjoy.

This ice cream shop has a huge selection of ice creams and so on. You can have cones, double cones and tubs of ice creams and they taste delicious

We're lucky to spend a great deal of time in both West Bay and Lyme Regis, and always head for Baboo for an icecream.

Thee was a huge queue when we found this place but having sampled their ice cream i get why. its absolutely delicious. it tastes homemade and good quality. I had the caramel and the maple walnut, if i lived closer id be there every day!

A day trip to Lyme Regis and after a sandwich lunch the hunt for an ice-cream....Frank & Beans was shut for the season so we went to Baboo and what a find it was! Fabulous ice cream, great range of flavours and reasonable price....my son had the vanilla which was divine, my daughter had salted caramel and my wife and I shared double chocolate and salted caramel....go, you will not be disappointed!

Loved the ice cream here, caramel crunch, rum and raisin and chocolate ( not all at once) - I tried them all. Big scoops of heaven. We also got some of the dog ice cream for our dogs and they loved it too!!

I'd read about Baboo Gelato in the Sunday Times so felt I must try it out. We had takeout coffee one day but later in our holiday I went back for icecream. It was lovely and just as I'd almost finished a seagull took a fancy to the cone and divebombed me from behind. I'll have to come back for more.

Being Italian I am very very picky about my gelato, but this guys gave me the opportunity to taste one of the best I had in UK. Absolutely recommend maple & walnut: smooth, tasty, full of real walnuts pieces. They deserve their awards! Bravi!

Went here for an ice cream and it was a chocolatey delight, quite generous portioning of the scoops. I think the lad serving us was flirting with me, much to my sister’s displeasure as I think she had the hots for him. Five stars.

We bought ice creams here on 3 occasions on our week-long visit which says it all really. Our favourite flavour was the Coconut and Chocolate Chip in a wafer cone. We also tried the Strawberry Sorbet, the Strawberry Icecream, the Salted Caramel, The Hazelnut Icecream and the Vanilla with Hazelnut Chocolate Chips. If they have a run on a particular flavour, they will run out and remove them from the board. This is what happened with our favourite but then it does give you the opportunity to try others. They are £2.20 for a single scoop and £3.30 for a double scoop but the single size is pretty substantial.

Delicious, upmarket ice cream with lots of different flavours. Would recommended the salted caramel and the blackcurrant sorbet (but perhaps not at the same time!) Great coffee too!

Our favourite place for icecream, good selection of flavours made by them selves in Bridport. Most days we have been down and had icecream from there, my favourite flavour is double chocolate.

This will be our new go to place in Lyme for ice cream (gelato). Located right on the front it is in an ideal location and with prices from £2.20 we thought it was quite reasonable.

After a couple of hours on the hot Monmouth Beach we headed back to the town for a drink and ice cream. What lovely people serving us some excellent ice cream.

As a regular customer I'm disappointed to see the portions have got smaller and smaller. Delicious ice cream but you'll be lucky to get more than a dessert spoon of ice-cream in a cone. Buy the small cup's instead for a mildly better value for money.

Once we found this gem of a place serving Salted Caramel crunch Ice Cream we were hooked and went back every afternoon. Absolutely delicious stuff.

Wonderful ice- cream with very large scoops! Great position so you can sit on a wall onto the beach.

I like ice cream. I really do. This is spectacularly good. First tried the maple and walnut - goodness it's good. Only in Lyme for day and half so although tempted to have it again I went for humbug the second time round. Wow...also scrummy. Trying to work out next day trip to Lyme (1.5hrs each way) ....for the ice cream alone. Trust me, it's worth it.

Definitely the best ice cream I have had and actually reasonably priced for such a great product. Can recommend salted caramel crunch and the mango sorbet :)

What a great place. Great friendly service while we dithered about choices, but the find of the holiday was their fig ice cream with marscapone. Utterly delicious!

A small and unassuming shop hides some of the most delicious gelato and wonderful flavour combinations and decent serving sizes, our favourite being walnut and maple. The hot chocolate was also delicious definitely worth a try if you’re in the mood!

As visited in February in the most horrific weather we had decided for the "flu"sorbet with lemon, honey and ginger. Absolutely divine. Nice quality cup of tea as well and lovely service. Long queue and staff seemed a bit muddled, or were the customers difficult? Asked for the least sweet sorbet, it was some kind of coffee concoction and by the end I was left with half a container of something that tasted like over sugared watery instant coffee. Not for me.

My friend and I decided to finish off a fabulously sunny day in Lyme with an ice cream. She has the gooseberry and I the peanut chocolate. What a delight they both were!

Being allergic to dairy I often suffer from ice-cream envy... Today I enjoyed a rather yummy blackcurrant sorbet from Baboo and I look forward to coming back!

I visited here with my partner in July. Being local we had heard of Baboo Gelato before but we decided it was time to treat ourselves. Neither of us could fault it. I had double chocolate and my partner had vanilla as he is a fan of plain and simple. My partner said it was the best vanilla he had ever tasted and he was amazed at how smooth it was.

I have written already about the Baboo in. West Bay but this weekend I got to try their Lyme Regis shop.

Visiting friends in Dorset, we were taken to the wonderful Baboo store. Just fantastic ice cream with brilliant flavours. Can't recommend it enough and gathered from our friends it has become a real favourite with the locals. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Being a local in Lyme Regis you have to know the best places to buy great ice cream and sorbets. Baboo Gelato is the place!! The flavours change dependant on the season and its all made just around the corner in Bridport. I recommend this place to everyone I know who comes down on holiday. It's not a place to miss out on. Great sizes, prices and flavours.

I'm no ice cream snob (I've genuinely enjoyed a Mr Whippy in my time) but these guys produce heaven in a cone. Seriously. Spoil yourself like I did with a rum and raisin & salted caramel combo for an instant party for your tastebuds. Delicious. My friend tried the blackcurrant sorbet to which she declared "wow - a-mazing" and she's not given to hyperbole. Thank you Baboo for bringing ice cream sunshine to our otherwise cold & overcast afternoon. Oh and they served PROPER coffee. Proper coffee. The staff told me the gelato was all made locally by hand. Do they give Michelin stars for ice cream kiosks? They should get a hat trick.

I chose the humbug and pistachio ice cream all looked well until I was handed the ice cream with a hair it in! I was offered another one but they had run out of my choice I declined but to be honest I was totally put off.

Was looking for a low fat yogurt type ice cream without much success, but Baboo sorbets were superb, no fat and absolutely deliciously fruity.

Their gelato is the smoothest, richest and most flavoursome you are ever likely to experience in this country or - I hasten to add - abroad. Generous portions for the price and lovely service. I can say no more than excellent.

Lovely ice cream, a close contender to the other gelato on offer in Lyme Regis. Coffee ice cream is great, and the kids love the salted caramel. Friendly staff and good coffee. We find the best way to solve the dilemma of which ice cream shop to go choose, is to have one from each everyday !

We tried a few Ice Cream outlets in Lyme, all of them very good, but this was by far the best ice cream available. A really interesting selection of flavours including sorbets and daily specials. The staff were very patient at dealing with indecision and last minute changes of mind.

I will all way go here if I am in Lyme Regis as all the ice cream is home made and the coffee is bean to cup very nice staff are really friendly will all way recommend .

Despite the rain, Lyme Regis was as delightful as ever this afternoon. However, its unsullied charms were enhanced immeasurably by the ice cream at Baboo Gelato. The service was friendly and efficient; the costs very reasonable. But the big talking point here are the flavours and the quality of the ice cream itself. Gooseberry, salted caramel and maple and walnut filled our cones - natural flavours, in generous portions. And we ate them in joyous silence as we walked along the Cobb. Not even seeing Meryl Streep in a black velvet cloak could have brought us greater pleasure. We'll be back.

Have tried the orange and chocolate sorbets. Particularly loved the chocolate sorbet which was creamy and more like ice cream than sorbet. Would definitely recommend and go back and try other flavours.

I've never felt the urge to review an ice cream vendor before but the salted caramel ice cream at Baboo was fantastic. There are others nearby but it's worth seeking this place out if you want something a bit special. It's so good that even the seagulls have developed a liking for it so hold on tight!

Great locally made ice cream in the usual flavours - just watch that you don't end up sharing it with the sea gulls!

Most of the ice cream available was the Mr Whippy type, but Baboo Gelato had real ice Cream. All the flavours looked nice and I chose the Double Chocolate while my husband had the Vanilla. Really lovely flavour in a crunchy cone served with a very handy serviette.

Having come across Baboo in West Bay, when we saw they had a stall on the Sea Front of Lyme Regis, we couldn't resist stopping by for another Gelato Ice Cream.
